Stumbled across this place with friends after we left the Hollywood Improv and wanted drinks. Staff was extremely nice and I really enjoyed the ambiance. Great place for a no pressure first date or just to hang out with friends and chill.

I really like it here cuz of the Mexican wrestling thing going on. I do not like hipster or looking at them or being seen with them but being dark and red in there, you hardly notice them! The food is good, kind of small and always hurts my stomach but that's me. This time I took a pepcid before I chowed down and it worked! Beers are cold, I don't drink tequila or I will fight. Staff is fantastic, men's room very clean!

A craft cocktail tequila bar with over 400 different tequilas! Every drink they have on their cocktail menu has a signature taste, and I can't say any of them are disappointing. To go with all the drinks, they also serve delicious food. I 100% recommend the mushroom tacos and the Triple meat nachos. After four years of not being able to visit, I managed to find some time tonight. Nothing has changed and that's most definitely a good thing. The food is still fantastic and the cocktails are still too notch 👍

This place is just amazing! We asked to rent the place for a very big and intense event with only two days notice and the owner, the staff and all the El Carmen team were incredibly responsive, fast and kind. The event was a complete success with ZERO faults. Flawless service, attention and care from everyone. It is especially impressive regarding the very short notice. Food was just incredible, fresh, on time and more than enough for over 40 guests!! The drinks were delicious, with very good prices considering the quality of the cocktails. We will be asking El Carmen to host all of our future events every time we go to L.A. I could not recommend this place enough, whether you are out on a date or need to rent out the place for a party, you'll find no place that is more friendly and attentive as El Carmen. Thank you especially to Leks for answering all of my questions and being super responsive the whole time! We will be back!

We got there when all of their tables were busy, they made room by having us share a booth. They were definitely accommodating and brought our food out fast.

Great tacos 🌮, the regular 🍹 margaritas are the best 👌 and the atmosphere is like in the movie From dusk till down!!!👍👍

Great spot for happy hour. Came in after work with my friend. Happy hour 5-7. Highlights are the $6 beers and $7 margaritas. Inside has a cool, stylish interior. The food is good for soaking up the booze. Service was great. Friendly staff. There's street meter parking up and down the block but you might have to walk a block or two.

I can't recommend El Carmen enough! Their menu has a wide variety of options, all made with fresh and high-quality ingredients. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. I especially loved their chiles rellenos and carne asada. The staff is friendly and attentive, making for a wonderful dining experience every time.

Wife wanted to come here after an appt in Beverly hills. Looked like just a bar walking in, but you're greeted by a friendly host. Don't get nervous cuz it looks like just a bar, the food is pretty solid. The potatoes tacos are so delicious, mouth watering thinking about them. The ceviche tasted really fresh like it just came out of the ocean...... server was very friendly n worked really hard. Oh yeah the shrimp tacos were bomb too, give this place a try n you won't be disappointed

Great cozy vibe & happy hour selection! Ordered their margarita, chips & guac/salsa, chicken & potato based tacos which were all really amazing. The chicken taco was my favorite. Can’t wait to go back and try other things on the menu!

So 1st time and probably my last time. I use to frequent the business next door Dough boys when it was open back in the day they share restrooms. The decor and vibe is great. The selection of Tequila and Mezcals is vast and large. Drinks on the pricey side for what you get. LA Parka great. the Escandalosa taste good but served in a tiny like champagne glass not great. Read the others food reviews didn't try the tacos. My friend and I ordered the flautas and shared a order of nachos. The only winner on the flauta plate the salsa. No flavor in the flautas. The rice over cooked or just too dry from just sitting in the pan rice was crunchy. Beans were ok. The nachos meh seen better. Not worth the 15.00 they sell them for.

Drinks and food were delicious! Had a craving for enchiladas and it was well satisfied. Service was quick and staff very lovely to interact with.

Yep - just do it. If you found this place searching on maps - you will not be disappointed. It is the place I will always return to when ever I come to Los Angeles. Tequila cocktails finally balanced. And delicious food. The East LA was standout.

Little hidden gem with a tiny entrance, but once you get in very cute bar with a side, a few tables. We start off with margaritas and not only is happy hour amazing price for the location. Then we go onto continuing with our happy hour. We got three tacos each. We tried Pollo Carnitas and papas. My personal favorite was Papa’s, but everything all together was really good. We also shared a quesadilla for two which was really really nice and came with sides of fresh salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. Love the place love the service will definitely come back.

First went here 17 years ago when I lived down the street. Back in town, it was the first place we wanted to go. The same guy brought us our food from all those years ago. Beautifully decorated with homages to the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema and the Luchadores (Mexican Masked wrestlers). If you decorate a place with artistic thought, beautiful lighting, and quality materials... no need to change a thing! And thankfully, they haven't. Small, very tasty plates, delicious margaritas, and we have another reservation Sunday. The menu has all the old favorites (enchiladas, rice, and beans) and many additional items. Reservations recommended.

Went in for a tequila tasting and had the best tacos ever!! Everything about the place is on point. Service was perfect, food came out fast and drinks were delicious.

Its good place to grab quick drinks but tables are too small to hold food and drinks. Food was kinda ok.

The food and service was great! I love how eclectic it is inside. Plan to speak loudly for the person you're with to hear you. Lol... If you're looking for an intimate dinner spot, this may not be the ideal place BUT, if you're looking for high energy and wanting to hang out, eat and great upbeat vibes, this is your place!

I had three different tacos here. Pollo, Carnita and Papa with Chorizo. All three were delicious however my favorite was the carnita. Service was very fast and fantastic. Ambiance is beautiful inside.

The 4-star rating is because the guacamole and the salsa were not very good. But the tacos were outstanding. As were the drinks. Les, the owner, was positive toward me about my poor review of the guacamole and salsa, and he listened to my suggestions.

Cozy bar playing throwback rap classics. Amazing tequila and mezcal offerings. Excellent cocktails and super nice bartenders.

Love the vibe. Great variety of loud music playing, spanish jams too. The waiters only bring your food. You have to order from the bartender so you wait a while. The bartender makes good drinks hooked us up.

I love to go to El Carmen 😍💕 Their tacos are amazing!!!! 🌮 I keep coming back to this place once in a while. The hostess is friendly as well as everyone that works there, and the place has a nice vibe, good for dates 😉

My goodness, LOVE this spot. My fiancé (#Chefbae) works insane hours during the week and this is our go-to for their happy hour when I scoop him from work. Cheap, delicious tacos and margaritas til at or around 1am?! Excellent service? Say less! A blessing to industry workers.
