Not far from Newport Beach is Santa Monica Seafood, a little market and cafe serving up fresh fish and other seafood goodies. We opted to start dinner with a dozen fresh oysters! Next up, we grab a big bowl of the crab bisque. It was creamy, with a hint of sweet crab! For entrees, I got the tuna tartar while my husband got the fish and chips. The tuna was great, super fresh and flavorful. The fish was flaky but lacked much flavor or seasoning. We couldn't leave though without getting some steamed king crab legs, and these might have been the star of dinner.

What I love about Santa Monica Seafood is the quality of their selection. My favorite there is the Chilean Sea Bass. I broiled it at home and it turned out quite delicious. The staff at the market are very helpful so feel free to ask them how to prep the fish.

Come here every couple months. Seafood is so fresh. Quaint lil cafe, not fancy but good food. Happy hour daily till 6. Usually get oysters, clam chowder, lobster bisque , wraps and bowls. They don’t have lobster bisque anymore 😩. Great low key date spot with good wine n spirits.

We dined in here and everything is delicious and fresh. It's a market so the inside can get cold. Bring a jacket if you get cold easily.

Delicious but over priced. I ordered scallops, then forced to eat with pasta when I wanted rice. Okay, no problem. But, look at the be cost of the by spinach & garlic! Linguini also charged. Crazy!

Absolutely delicious. Very fresh selection of seafood. We had the tuna melt- not your typical open faced tuna melt. Served closed, fresh tuna-light and fluffy on thick toasted white bread with a ceasar salad. Homemade Ceasars dressing. Reasonable prices. Good quality Chardonnay $12 oysters $3

Terrific place for amazing seafood. Both the market and restaurant have a myriad of fresh options. Sit at the bar and enjoy some oysters and a beer...the service was fantastic. Cant wait to return to pick up some ahi

Nothing special about the restaurant. Ordered linguine with clams and it was bland. Steamed clams had sand. Caesar salad was ordinary. Fish chowder was good. Had lots of fish.

Santa Monica seafood is a trusted seafood place where you can buy fresh fish to make at home. I enjoy their fresh tuna for poke bowls. Also, you can sit and enjoy drinks and lunch. I ordered the tuna sandwich was really nice however had a little too much butter when they grill their bread. Also, keep in mind it does get busy around lunch time especially on the weekends.

Came here for lunch on a Thursday. Had the fish chips and the clam chowder. The clam chowder was great, very creamy and a nice amount of clams. The fish chips were okay. The batter flavor overwhelmed the fish flavor. I was barely able to grasp the flavor of the fish. The fries and the sauce were fine. My buddy has the Pan Roasted Salmon Salad: (Perfectly baked sugar & spice rubbed Scottish Salmon and arugula salad with fennel, grape tomatoes, red onion and fresh orange wedges all tossed in our lemon oil dressing) He loved it and said the salmon was some of the best he'd ever had. The reason for the four stars was because it was quite expensive.

Tried the Grilled Salmon and Shrimp Linguini and it was good. Will definitely return in the future to try other dishes!

Halibut was delicious. My kids loved their fish and chips, and I loved there left overs. Fish was awesome!

Go for happy hour, which is 7 days a week! Chowder fries are dank. Deep fried cod fish taco was bomb. Desserts were excellent. Service on point. All around great dining experience!

Super disappointing this time. We ordered SMS margaritas and didn't know they were made according to the waitress with fermented wine. The steamers were super salty, the grilled bread had a tiny drop of oil, no butter. We asked for butter and barely got a teaspoon full. The chowder was boring, not a good experience.

Once again…they do not disappoint. We have been visiting the Santa Monica location since they opened at their current spot. $12 for cioppino was a winner in our book and we were hooked! First time here and we were delighted. Cioppino is no longer $12 but is delicious and worth every penny. Husband had the first tacos and they too were yummy.
