This
hospital
and
ER
proved
to
be
understaffed
and
under
qualified.
My
grandfather
was
admitted
for
an
infected
cat
bite
on
his
hand
and
fluid
retention
due
to
a
weak
heart.
The
ER
kept
him
for
two
days
because
there
“was
no
room”
for
him
in
the
hospital.
The
ER
tried
to
deny
visitation
to
my
grandmother
because
they
were
“too
busy”.
However,
they
retracted
when
I
complained,
and
my
grandma
was
able
to
see
him.
Once
moved
to
the
hospital,
they
decided
to
do
surgery
to
remove
infection
from
his
hand,
which
I
thought
was
odd
due
to
his
weak
heart.
However,
they
perform
the
surgery,
and
my
grandpa
seemed
jovial,
even
singing
with
the
supporting
nurses.
He
was
in
good
spirits,
and
seem
to
recover
well
for
two
days
after
the
surgery.
The
hospital
continue
to
monitor
him
due
to
his
heart
condition.
Unfortunately,
my
grandfather
passed.
Their
explanation
was
that
his
heart
just
stopped.
The
doctor
expressed
that
he
was
very
shocked.
One
of
my
largest
complaints
is
that
my
grandmother
was
not
notified
that
my
grandpa
passed.
Instead,
we
showed
up
hoping
to
visit
him
and
found
a
note
on
the
door
to
see
the
nurses
station.
That
is
where
we
were
told
“
sorry
he
didn’t
make
it”.
We
were
stunned.
We
did
not
know
what
to
do
from
there.
I
asked
if
we
could
see
him
so
they
gave
us
approval.
On
our
own,
we
fought
through
the
barricade
of
furniture,
and
closed
curtain
to
find
my
grandfather
covered
in
blood
and
dead.
we
then
went
to
the
nurses
station
to
ask
if
we
could
speak
to
the
doctor,
or
if
anybody
was
planning
to
speak
to
us.
The
lady
seemed
surprised
and
said
that
the
doctor
had
left,
but
that
she
would
see
if
she
could
get
him
on
the
phone.
The
doctor
called
and
explained
to
us
that
my
grandfather
had
torn
out
his
IV
before
he
coded.
That
is
why
there
was
blood
everywhere.
It
was
very
clear
that
the
hospital
considered
my
grandpa
just
a
number
and
another
casualty.
There
was
no
compassion,
no
explaining
unless
prompted,
and
just
a
cold
atmosphere
checking
things
off
the
list
and
moving
on.
I
hope
nobody
else
will
have
to
experience
losing
a
loved
one
as
coldly
as
we
did
in
the
Redlands
Community
Hospital.
I
truly
feel
that
if
he
was
admitted
into
a
more
experienced
hospital,
that
he
would
have
come
home
to
us.
