DO NOT LET THERE INSTAGRAM FOOL YOU. I CAME ALL THE WAY TO CALIFORNIA TO COME HERE AND WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED. Thank the lord my 6 year old was able to enjoy it but this place needs ALOT OF WORK. The conditions of the reptiles were TERRIBLE. Do not come here if you love reptiles you will LEAVE VERY sad. They have the smallest cages for large animals. The cages were FILTHY. They have WAY TOO MANY REPTILES AND NOT enough people and staff to take care of them. They have like 3 to 5 large reptiles together in one cage. The place is so small and tight. They don't even have the name of the reptiles on all the cages. They don't even have a person to talk about the reptiles or ask questions too. I mean I can go on about how this place really needs to do BETTER BUT HONESTLY YOU WILL SEE FOR YOURSELF. I wish I could post the videos so you all could see the POOR CONDITIONS but you can only post pictures.

I am deathly afraid of snakes and there is a boatload. I knew it going in but it was a bucket for my daughter. It was fun feeding the turtles. The staff was sooooo kind and was kind when I flipped out a bit over a "few" snakes. We talked gecko forever. Great selection of supplies too.

Really cool place - they creat amazing social media content and that’s how I found this place. Fun zoo with a lot of neat reptiles to see and it was fun to actually see a lot of the reptiles active and moving around in their environments. (Most other zoos, reptiles just lay around and don’t interact) this place is definitely 5 stars but a few things they can improve on: 1) the back areas are visible to guests and look wildly dirt and a mess 2) I know it’s probably a constant fight, but that tortoise area in the back smelled terrible 3) upkeep and appearance of the facades in front of the cages looks really janky - cut foam rocks and branches and falling off frames 4) small hallways and just really crowded with multiple traffic jams, especially when tours take up whole hallways. Over all, great experience.

As soon as I got to this location (thanks to Google Map), I kinda laughed to myself. I was not expecting The Reptile "Zoo" to be located in a plaza...of 4 stores combined into 1. As we walked in...it looked like a mom & pop's pet store. However, if you go to the left side and pay for admission...you will be able to see a lot more. A plastic cup of romaine lettuce and 2 cucumbers and 1 carrot (to feed the big turtles)...was $5 plus some change. I think it was worth it. My boys loved it. My second did not want to leave...but, we had other things to do. We were in there for almost 3 hrs.

Awesome reptile zoo. Lots of different species to see and we spent about 2 hours there in total. The add-ons (interactive show, photos, or feedings) are fairly priced and a worthwhile experience. Staff and the owner, Jay, are super friendly. Would visit again.

Omg! This was the best experience ever! The pricing is extremely competitive ($15) and the staff was wonderful. The reptiles were so amazing! You really can't appreciate their beauty until you see how magnificent they are up close. The turtle enclosure could be tightened up a bit and some of the tanks appeared to be a bit small for such large snakes, but my goodness they were so beautiful. You can take photos with a gorgeous snake named Sunshine (very cool) and feed the turtles. I'm going back for sure.

I used to love this place as a kid, we bought so many geckos and lizards here. I came back to visit 10 years later and was so excited to bring my little boy to a place that was so special to me and I'd spend hours enjoying and learning about the animals. Unfortunately, they have made a large portion of the reptiles part of a pay-to-access zoo area and the prices are really steep $15 per person. I was so bummed to not show my little boy everything but it was too much with my whole family to go. He had fun feeding the turtles and seeing what we could. I wish it was a bit more reasonable to go see the other animals.

Poor reptile husbandry, evidence of mites, unclean enclosures, overweight animals, extremely small enclosures, lack of water and overall negligence. Please don’t visit or support this business, they barely keep their reptiles alive and shouldn’t be allowed to own animals in general. There was a bad smell coming from the enclosures and they clearly hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while, these people don’t care about their reptiles health or safety.

What a great experience! Two South Africans, 1 American. I'm so glad we drove to come visit this awesome place. Would love to see some of the huge snakes out or handled, though. Big thumbs up to you guys!

This place was bigger than I first thought. There's tons of reptiles to look at here, from Chameleons, to Water Monitors, Iguanas, Alligators, and more! The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the gift shop is so cute! My wife and I went as an added birthday celebration and we were both very entertained! All in all, the $15 per ticket was very well worth it! I think we spent a little over a couple hours in here.

This place is a really great educational experience for anyone who has a interest in exotic reptiles. Care for animals on this level is hard and a lot of work to up keep. I got to see multiple poisonous vipers that are truly amazing to be face to face with. They also have taken in many animals. It's not big like a huge outdoor Zoo. That's part of its charm, but room for so many animals means the precious space they are able to provide is really well thought out, allowing for a very up close and personal experience with ultra rare species! Their is a slight odder from the animals HOWEVER it's actually a good thing! I have worked in "exotic pet stores", that were nothing more than starvation chambers. What I saw and smelled was the exact opposite of so called pet stores. These animals were WELL FED! Happy, energetic, healthy and cared for, in some impressive enclosures that truly are Alive. I have seen little Caiman crocodiles up close before. But then old Darth Crocodile was truly impressive to see! He is a full size reptile predator big enough to easily over power you in the water. Being inches away and able to see him that Clearly and close was absolutely wicked! Can't wait to see more videos on YouTube guy's, thanks for the amazing experience and awesome memories of our trip to California.

We came here to just get out of the house an I was shocked at how big it actually is inside! You can feed fish an turtles as you walk in (live worms) it wasn't gross. There is plenty to see tortoise, lizards, snakes, crocodile’s and alligators! And DO use the QR code on the glass tanks it pulls up that exact animal with the tiktok! It's really cool. Definitely check it out it's a hidden gem for sure. 🐊🐍🐢🦎

This was an excellent experience. A wide range of reptiles of all sizes, shapes, and colors were available to view, with QR codes to scan for people who wanted to learn more about the animals. Highly recommend feeding the tortoises! They've all got personalities and respond differently to the offer of lettuce or carrots. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to share information with visitors. From presentations to one-on-one chats, I saw several examplea of staff members sharing both information and a love for the animals they worked with. They also sell pets, and the range of products and information available for beginning herpetology enthusiasts or people with lots of experience.

From the outside, the place looks small and out of place. However, as you walk in, you're greeted by an introduction to turtles, lizards, and snakes. This particular area happens to be a pet store. If you choose to pay and visit the zoo, the magic unfolds as you encounter various species of snakes and lizards. Additionally, for an extra charge, you have the opportunity to feed the tortoises.

Awesome place for reptile lovers! I think its a cheap fee for an amazing experience. The staff are incredibly friendly. This spot needs a second location near Los Angeles. I definitely will come back again and experience another live session. The best thing about the experience is the live demos of their reptiles, love holding snakes or bearded dragons? Wanna feed turtles and tortoises? Come to this spot you will LOVE IT!

Let's just say most people spend about 2 hours in this place. I'm totally obsessed with reptiles so I spent about 4 hours in there going back on fourth looking at their animals. All in all I was really happy with this place its super educational and there's an opportunity for you to get hands-on with the animals. There was the odd animal that I felt their cage was a little bit too small but those animals are generally for sale so I'm assuming that they don't plan on having them in that enclosure for too long. apart from that that I can't wait to go back

Decided to swing by since I was in the area (coming from Los Angeles). Was very disappointed to see ants going in and out of tarantula and reptile enclosures. I notified one of the workers there and their response was "oh yeah we know but we don't know what to do to stop it" seriously??!! I've got several several tarantulas myself and have delt with having to either rehouse or change out substrate to insure the safety of them due to the same issue and unfortunately I have lost one because of it . So to hear that kind of response was really a downer.

It's great to have a place that were able to take my two turtles and know they will be well taken care of with a much better environment that I have provided. Thank you for taking them. Great turtle tank. I'll make sure to come and visit your store for and pet needs and drop some donations. Thank You again I'm grateful

I thought this would be a cool outing for my boys to enjoy. We all enjoyed it. I bought a deal off Groupon that included two admissions, an interactive presentation and two souvenir photos. I really enjoyed “wearing” a snake and my boys had a blast feeding the fish and turtles larvae worms and lettuce. Seeing the real Mrs. Kipling from Disney’s show Jessie was noteworthy. Overall, it’s a great option for learning about different kinds of reptile creatures. The staff were helpful and were willing to educate and answer questions.

I was very excited about my visit however it was a let down. The lady at the front desk was very rude to my family and I. Especially about our face mask, rudely reminding us to keep our mask over our nose. It was $15 per person and in my opinion it was too expensive. If I’m gonna pay that much I wish the employees would have been a bit nicer. The snakes were awesome to look at but not so much the random cockroaches walking around us.

What can I say that have not already been said? This place is the absolute Best if you like to see all things reptiles. What a gem in the heart of Orange County. The staff is terrific and friendly, and you can tell they all love being a part of something so great! Seeing alligators, pythons, anaconda, water monitors, lizards frogs, turtles, tortoise, and rattle snakes (it is awesome to see and hear the rattle snake when it's rattling) and other creepy, crawlies all in one very unique location! You can feed the turtles or even hold a snake...eww!! =) 10 Stars! Follow them on IG @jayprehistoricspets

This place is pretty cool. If your interested in reptiles they have a lot. If you have you own mini-dino at home, there is a lot of equipment, decor, and feeders for sale. If you want to get a new pet, they sell those too. I found out its family owned and operated which I always appreciate. And everyone there seemed pretty knowledgeable about all the different reptiles on display. If you have children who like reptiles they also do birthday parties. At the zoo or at your party wherever that may be. All and all a good find! I recomend checking it out.

Some of the reptiles there probably don't have the best quality of life compared to the others. I did notice some habitats had ants crawling around. Overall, there are plenty of reptiles to see and this zoo can be a quick and fun way to burn an hour or so. I just wish some of the reptiles weren't suffering with bad setups.

honestly if i could give it a lower score i would. this place does not treat their animals right and its all for money. (ex. on Halloween this year they put a bunch of baby ball pythons into a pumpkin and cut open the top to make it look like they were naturally there, i cant even express how horrible and dangerous that was, and they still posted it their Instagram)

This isn’t an AZA accredited organization, nor do they practice responsible handling or feeding methods (you can watch their tiktoks, especially the one where a woman improperly provokes a feeding response and puts her face near an alligator while tong feeding them). They were an exotics pet store and now are an attraction posing as a reptile education center. They are not! They don’t even bother to differentiate between their Water Monitors and what Komodo Dragons are, after people mistook them for the later. This misleads the public about actual conversation and keeping of that particular species (which is closely monitored by AZA). I’m sure everyone who works there is great, but they are setting a dangerous example for the public with what they post online! Please, if anyone from the facility reads this, revisit how you present yourself to the general public -an actual wildlife and exotics veterinarian.

We visited back in September of 2019 and had a great time! We stopped in after being at Disney around 3pm on a Thursday. I am from Chicago and LOVE reptiles, so this was high on my this of things to do on our trip. Very cool variety of animals and well built designs and layouts of the cages. The one issue I had was staffing. We were the only ones in the zoo for the duration of 40-60 minutes. It was very misleading from all the social media videos of people getting to interact with an assortment of animals and the only person we saw was behind the front counter. Maybe we came at the wrong time, so we will definitely be making another trip out there once we’re in LA again. Love Jay and all his content over the years.

Cool place for me. It was cool to see adult size alligator, snap turtle, rattle snakes or reticulated python so up close. I had so much fun at this zoo! I arrived at 1p and there was zero parking. After circling the lot a couple of times, we decided to do free street parking. The zoo closes at 4p so I was in a rush to see it all! When I first entered, I was attracted to the safari. I was amazed as I saw five giraffes walking around freely. As I continued to roam around the zoo, I was in total awe as I saw the rhino playing with its ball and the hippopotamus was swimming and spraying water at spectators. I've never been to a zoo so lively as this one. Maybe I came at a great time but I'm so used to animals sleeping in their enclosures. I thought this zoo was a lot more fun and less depressing than The Fountain Valley and The Reptile Zoo. I love this place.

I came from New York to visit this place and I really loved it, I had the opportunity of meeting Jay and I touched a big Burmese snake. That was my lucky day because that wasn't included. I took some pictures with the snake and with Jay. He's very nice 👌 I want to go back in the future. The price is so cheap for all the animals that you can see. A big thank you to Jay and his friendly staff.
