My personal preference to go here, apart from taking my visitors to the north Venice Beach tourist attractions. Down here, south of the Venice Boardwalk, parking is easier, the bike path is much less crowded, less of anybody and everybody and more of the locals, just for the beach, pier and restaurants! From the Venice Beach Boardwalk, south of the tennis courts, the paved path extension of the walkway connects and combines in places with the bike path thru the residential Venice Beach, continuing down to Washington Blvd. The people along the beachfront path here are more orderly and less haphazard, than at the Boardwalk area beach paths, especially with the bike trail there. Bike riderโ€™s and โ€˜boarders continue along, often going thru the marina (Marina Del Rey). Down this way, the atmosphere is less commercial and more subdued, with the beach and ocean here good for relaxation and meditation with the views, sunbathing, swimming, skimming, surfing and bodyboarding. The restrooms on average are cleaner and outdoor showers better and are available just to the south of the Venice Pier. Good restaurants with outdoor and now indoor dining line the street at Washington Blvd. Thereโ€™s convenience grocery stores if needed also on Washington. A Venice canal view and walk is also possible from the second block of Washington, at the north side. The Venice Pier is under renovation, tho will be bigger and better than ever before! Parking is up to $18. on weekends at the foot of Washington Blvd. The alternative is with metered spaces along Washington Blvd for up to two hours. There also may be available street parking spaces along Pacific Av near Washington, tho because the surrounding area is vertical residential (limited space built upwards), parkingโ€™s at a premium right by the beach. My apprehension driving into a crowded scenario to park, meld in with all of the people (accepting of all behavior) and getting stuck in traffic jams on the way out, is considerably less here! While I do recommend the more northern beaches of Venice and Santa Monica to see for the associated attractions (Santa Monica Pier, Venice Boardwalk, Skateboard Park and Rec Center) and what they have to offer, the south end of Venice Beach here is not so much a โ€˜must seeโ€™ tourist hot spot, just a cool place to hang outโ€ฆor hang ten on the โ€˜board!

The Venice Beach is one of the most popular in Los Angeles city, and is knowed by the high frequency of youngers that goes there just to use the skateboard and the Park for roller skaters. The beach have a large wide of sands, that is soft to feet it. Their waves have a range between small and medium size, and isn't uncommon see surfers riders surfing there. It is a good place to go use spare times and enjoy it. I recommend it.

Not family friendly in anyway. Trash and homeless line the streets and it is a complete tourist trap. Could possibly be the worst beach in Los Angeles now. I am shocked by these overwhelmingly positive reviews.

A wonderful place to visit and spend a day especially during the weekends, when you can see a variety of street performance. The sands and water are clean. I really love the sand beaches where you can walk barefoot.

The beach itself is the same as Hermosa or Redondo, if you walk around a bit, it's different... Long and wide sandy beach, big waves and playing in the sand. No swimming, surfing and wave jumping... Very interesting for children. All around there are bars, fast food and restaurants. Next to the beach itself, the entire length of the coast is great for skating and rollerblading. There is a large parking lot right next to the beach.

On a good clear sunny day in Cali the beach is the place to be. Since the homeless clean up it's more welcoming and pleasant. Even if you don't like sand you should still take a walk down to the shore to get a up close encounter with the ocean and it's soothing waves.

Had a good walk and saw so many stores. A lot of different kinds of people here and all were friendly. Places to eat and places to sit around the beach. Seaguls are huge there compared to where we live in Ohio. We walked the Venice pier and walked in the water.

Not from here, so wanted to check out the other beaches besides Santa Monica, I ainโ€™t going to lie this was very soothing and it was a vibe. Very chill. Very different from Santa Monica. They say itโ€™s overhyped and I wanna know why because itโ€™s a very nice beach ๐Ÿ–๏ธ.

One of the safest places to walk with my family. The air here is clean and the water is crystal clear. The view from this beach is fantastic. Dog walking on the beach is prohibited.

What a great place to spend the afternoon! It gets crowded by the board walk. Take your shoes off and walk close to the water. You can walk for miles!

It's a beautiful beach. However I notice there are signs prohibiting dogs on the beach (not the walk) yet there are plenty of dogs, off leash and on, on the beach, especially south of Venice Pier. Is this just "see and avoid" (the cops)? Can someone explain? Would love to walk my pup there but don't really want to pay the price.

Hella clean, beautiful scenery, a lot of squirrels & homeless people and a bunch of scooters to ride around the streets; you can't ride them near the beach though. Overall it's a very beautiful "balcony"

Waves!!! This beach is amazing. It is shallow about 100 ft out, and has nice waves hitting the shore! Boogie boarding is a must and they sale them at the shops on the way. Signs of NO DOGS allowed but many people had their fur babies like I did with no issue. Please remember to clean up after them โ˜บ๏ธ Depending where you park there are food vendors out and as well as the boardwalk offers many food, clothing and souvenirs. Its cali so you PAY for parking almost everywhere. Great time spent here that we did a second day before heading back home! They do have the homeless people who DONโ€™T bother anyone and just mind their business. Alot of room for skating, biking and rollerblading.

Long and beautiful beach has plenty to see, buy and entertain yourself with. There are youth rollerblades and skating facilities by the palms with a heavy smell of canabis, next to it sports facilities with bodybuilders and yoga people, there are bike lanes and jogging groups, serfers, tourists, kids and selletof everything. There is something to do for everyone or just enjoy the historic Venice beach and its nature and clean sand.

Finally, please note the dedicated bike path....please don't stroll or stand in the middle of it, as most tourists seem to do.

If homeless people bother you then this isn't the place for you. The housing crisis in the US and Cali have created a huge amount of homeless people
