Being so close to this place I have never visited it, great to relax, walk and see different points of the city, the iconic sign !! HOLLYWOOD !!, beautiful sunsets, different birds and more. Comfortable family walk. It is a beautiful corner inside from the city.

Grate views of the Holly wood sign. TIP: keep waking till the fence ends and you reach the bridge. There’s the most spectacular view. A lot of people just turn around because they think is not worth it but it totally is worth it.

This is the wonderful thing about Los Angeles. The city is so large, no matter how long you live in Los Angeles you find more and more gems. This reservoir is absolutely spectacular!!!!

I’ve completed this trail 2x and always enjoy it! This trail is mostly flat, part dirt and pavement. There’s wildlife hanging around the reservoir, I always see a family of deer. Parking is easy regardless of whichever entry you’re using one includes an incline, adds to your workout!

Great place to view the Hollywood sign, take a walk, ride a bike or take one of the hiking trails. You drive up to the reservoir on very narrow winding residential streets, once you reach the reservoir there is a small parking lot and limited parking on the street.

Such a cute gem in the heart of Hollywood, away from the noise and busyness of the city. It does not lead to the Hollywood sign or Wisdom Tree, but it’s a much easier hike and is extremely family-friendly. We see kids on tricycles all the time. Note: the resevoir has a no-pet policy.

Make the best with what you got. The trail around the reservoir makes for a nice walk, jog, run or bike. Cool looks at the Hollywood sign, nature and beautiful homes. Your reward for doing something good for your body.

I went on a walk around Lake Hollywood and it was beautiful this morning. Canadian Geese and flocks of Mallards have taken over the lake. What a racket! The Painted Lady butterfly migration is in full swing. There're so many they look like blowing leaves. The sage is in bloom. There's a huge splash of purple below 3 Peaks and near the Hollywood Sign. My buddy and I spotted a beautiful whitetail buck. His antlers were just starting to sprout. He was on the other side of the fence surrounding the empoundment. He allowed me to walk up to within 5' of him before quietly ambling off. The stroll around Lake Hollywood never fails to impress, but today was one of the best ever.

Mostly serene and slightly off tourist radar, Lake Hollywood is a quiet escape with beautiful lake views if you can trek past the prison fencing that surrounds most of it. Local tip: Drive around the lake past the hoardes of followers and enter on the east side for better views, more sunshine and less excessive perfume.

a real hidden gem in LA. I'm so glad we found this spot on such a beautiful spring day. Although allergies were in full swing, the views were worth it. Hillsides were covered with yellow blooms and the little spots of shade made it feel like a little reprieve. I would recommend going early in the morning, or after 3pm but before 6pm (closes) to avoid the heat. There isn't much shade on the walk and it takes about 1 hour to walk the whole thing at a leisurely pace. People had bikes and scooters to get around, but no dogs are allowed. It's a quiet, nice place to walk and contemplate, and maybe even paint. There aren't too many LA locals there- many seem like tourists. It's always the tourists that know the city better than us locals! I highly recommend this place, it seems like the best view of the Hollywood sign, but out of the craziness that is Hollywood.

Beautiful and quite walking trail at the Hollywood Reservoir. The road to getting there is a bit tight and curvy but I think it helps deter a lot of people away which helps keep its exclusivity. I truly felt like I was not in LA for a couple moments while walking the 3.5 mile loop. The dead silence and natural beauty really delivers an amazing escape.

Hidden gem for sure! I have lived here for almost 6 years and went for the first time yesterday! We ran about a little more than half since some parts were closed off because of construction. I have always known of this place but never realized how beautiful it actually was! Highly suggested if you need a switch up in your workout from the gym!

Beautiful 03 miles of walk … The day we went there was foggy. So we couldn’t see the Hollywood sign. But one nice lady showed us her gallery, she has beautifully captured the Hollywood sign while she was jogging … I loved the walk …

Our favorite hike in LA, with a beautiful view of the Hollywood sign for most of the 3.5 mile loop. This place has a special place in my heart since I just proposed to my girlfriend (now fiancee) last week! It's a great walk/hike with paved roads and nice scenery. Not hard at all other the distance (if 3.5 miles is a lot for you). We sometimes do two laps to get a nice 7 miler in. I hope you enjoy!

I heard about the Hollywood Reservoir on Chase Bernstein’s podcast, Composed. Per her warning, I was careful to plan my trip in such a way to make sure I exited the premises before closing because they will lock you in. I’m not a caged animal and didn’t want to be locked in, you can probably imagine. Parking can be tricky if you decide you want to sleep in until noon, but I didn’t do that so I didn’t have trouble parking. There are cormorants and seagulls galore as well as port-a-potties and deer. It was a surprise to me but the walk takes you out and over a dam. I loved all the greenery around the reservoir and I think you will too. My least favorite part was that I saw a noisy crow. Thank you.

Being an LA native, I never visited the Lake Hollywood Reservoir. It is truly a hidden gem. It is such a nice and tranquil place to run/walk with beautiful scenery around the lake. You have stunning views of the Hollywood sign, the Lake and the hills with mansions on top. The perimeter around the reservoir is about 3.2 miles which is a tad longer than a 5k run. The flat and paved road make it an ideal training area for a 5K. It's a great place to run!

Great 3.5mile loop of which only a part is on the road. There is a water fountain for bottle top up and it’s a great loop for a flat walk.

Peaceful, easy walk. If not for the Hollywood sign, you could forget you’re in Los Angeles! You will hear wildlife and might even spot some on your visit to the Reservoir. There is a small parking lot on site. Be mindful the drive up to the Reservoir is residential and narrow - go slow and be attentive!

Great location to see the Hollywood letters up close. We brought our bikes and enjoyed the scenery. Go now to enjoy the beautiful flowers! 3.5 miles to go around the reservoir, part of it is on a public road but not very trafficked.

  • 5/5 Carlos M. 3 years ago on Google
Definitely go hiking here to get the closest and clearest view of the Hollywood sign. You can either go around the reservoir or go uphill (I went uphill). The path starts off quiet lonely with not enough traffic and rails, separating view of the reservoir, but as you start ascending the hill, the view is worth it. You reach a gate and have to take right on Lake Tahoe Dr and then left uphill following the Hollywood sign. You will eventually reach a dirt road but you keep going, keep following the sign and you will get your closest, best view. Great place to take pictures. No proper placed to sit down and relax/picnic, except for may be shades of trees on the dirt road. Total hike from where uber dropped me off to the sign is about 4.5 miles. Totally worth it.

Its changed a ton since I was 7years old when my dad would take my brother and I to go Exercise. The lake is blocked off with wire fencing and concrete, but very much still visible. The walk around the lake is about 3 miles long and you are able to view the Hollywood sign very clearly during the walk. As far as I know, you can no longer hike to the Hollywood sign anymore but there is a way to get "close" to it. Thats an entirely separate hike on its own though. Just up the hill, in the residential area of the lake.

Enjoyable place to spend part of a day for a hike or bike. Chain link fence surrounds the lake other than the dam to keep it pristine. While that obstructs a lot of great views it's worth it. Take a long selfie stick to get above it for some great photo ops. Plenty of wildlife and we even saw a snake on the path.
