I went to Surf City Billiards on June 24th with some friends to have a drink and play darts. A young blond woman was bar tending and asked for my card as a deposit for the darts, kind of weird because literally no other bar asks for a card to play darts, but whatever order some drinks and leave my card so we can play darts. That night fraudulent charges for tik tok and prison phone calls start appearing on my card. Awesome, now I have to file a fraud claim and redo all my auto pay billing. Do not trust the bartenders here with your card for ANY reason unless you like dealing with your credit card companies fraud claim department. Fun times, keep it classy surf city.

A friend of mine recommended this place for a good time. When I showed up the environment was great and people were friendly. That's as far as the plus goes. The food was just OK, the bar staff understandably was backed up with people but it took me 15 minutes just to get a beer. My girlfriend tried to call the bar to come hang out and it took her 5 calls to get thru and after she did the short lady with tatooees at the bar Hung up on her. The place is nice but unfortunately I won't be going back due to the staff.

Wings have and still remain a staple here in an area that offers no diversity in wings. As a place that remains a staple in Downtown Santa Cruz nightlife, it still remains a go to place for wings. They aren't for hot heads but if you want a good crispy wing for a decent price. They have it. A Sriracha forward sauce that is absolutely delicious. For the price, the portion is worth the cost alone. Tawne and Scott delivered incredible service. Has and will always be a must stop spot for fun and wings. Crisp:4.3 Heat: 3.6 Flavor: 4.4 Portion: 4.5 Tender: 4.4 OVR: 4.24

During the time I was there one night I had a closed tab so I payed seperately for each drink and the pool table. I checked my bank account the next day and I had one charge from here that was 25.00 even. Nothing I bought there was that much on its own. I suspect the bartender there made a mistake or that charge was intentional. Besides this experience, they usuallly have a chill atmosphere.

Surf City is a special place. With all the small businesses closing during thr pandemic cool places to grab a drink and a bite are becoming more rare. Surf City has a wide variety of entertainment featuring a ping pong table, a photo booth, pinball machines and over ten pool tables, not to mention a vinyl collection of killer records, playing all night. The neighborhood staff is friendly and attentive. The bar is filled with a plethora of unique beers, ciders and frozen spirits and liquors. The food is the hidden gem. From lemon pepper chicken wings to soft shell crab sandwiches to the best jucy Lucy I've had, the mouth-watering food will make you feel right at home. The food is cooked by an ultra-talented chef that clearly puts love into her food. Places with soul are becoming harder to find and Surf City brings people together. Take the negative comments with a grain of salt. Some people's expectations are hard to meet, and sometimes are never met. Go check out Surf City! You'll be glad you did.

This is my favorite bar to go to in Santa Cruz hands down!! The ambiance, the pool, the drinks, EVERYTHING. The manager Tawni is the MOST kind, welcoming, sweet, hardworking human and she is seriously the cherry on the top of this place! I see the effort she puts into billards and it shines through everyday! Absolutely love this place 😊

Really nice place, great atmosphere and great music. Spend three nights on the trot coming here. But unfortunately was let down by the waitress who finished at 8:30pm each night. Ordered 2 $6 beers only for it to come to $17. I questioned it but was told "it's tax". I later discovered that tax is 7% and she ripped me off by either tipping herself or ordering herself a drink on my tab. I didn't go back for the rest of my visit. Real shame as she let the place down by "fleecing tourists". So I would recommend going but beware this one bartender.

Used to be good. Now some bartender lady gets mad asking her about the pool list. My friend and I came here today. The same lady was here and kept ignoring him. Too bad this place has poor management now.

The brunette woman in her 50’s is the rudest and most awful bartender. She got my drink order wrong and then blamed me even though it was her fault! When she gave me the drink I ordered it tasted awful. I was being nice but she was so obnoxious that my friends and I left. I see other bad reviews about her so I don’t know why she still works here.

Cool place. Drinks were good and fairly priced. There are plenty of pool tables to play on. Has a good restroom but only one.

Good atmosphere, mostly college age persons there. Besides 10+ pool tables there are darts and ping pong. On the night I was there, they put on a beer pong tournament that really drew in the crowds. The kitchen stops food service at 10 pm. I can't comment on the food, I never had any. The bartenders were fast with the drinks and seemed friendly. All the staff seemed to enjoy working there.

Super fun billiards hall, with a ton to do. Has a great vibe, reasonable drink prices, and fun people.

Great burger week burger! Great bar and staff. A lot of pool tables and all around decent atmosphere. Wear an extra layer in winter, it's a big ol warehouse type place and can be cool.

Went for the first time, played 2 hrs of pool and bought 2 modelo beers. Was charged 73 dollars!!!!!!!! Waitress with a cowboy hat on with blue lights on it in a white tank top, (cowboy theme nught 02/11/23) brown hair was EXTREMELY rude. I was the DD and had water. Probably a good idea I wasn't drinking because I would of put my hands on her. She basically threw my debit card at me when I questioned the bill. To top it off we were asked by the other staffer to give up our pool table for "people they know" before the card fiasco. Seriously terrible!!! Never again. I said what I said.

If you don't feel like home when you walk in the staff definitely will change that. The drinks are priced well and the wings.... oh man the wings are to die for!

This is the best pool hall I’ve ever been to! Lots of space and modern tables. Plus it’s a relaxed environment with games and good drinks.

Awesome little Pool Hall with great bartenders. Jordan was awesome too, I taught her a new drink and she absolutely knocked it out of the park, made the best one I've ever had. Thanks Jordan ^__^

Bar service is slow but accurate. Once a line starts it takes a while.. About half the tables have decent felt. Cues are meh. Table service is good, they keep the place pretty clean. Music is bumpin!

Great staff. Tasty food and some good beers on tap. Nine pool tables, they charge hourly not per game. Ping pong tournaments on Thursday night. Only bar in Santa Cruz city with a pong table that I am aware of. Gets crowded for pong on Friday/Saturday nights. Good patrons as well.

Great staff, pool tables and darts and ping-pong, bit of a dive bar vibe 👌 Went to a small comedy show here last week.
