The food has no taste. I got the machaca with rice and beans. The rice was hard, no flavor or salt. The beans no salt. The tomatoes in the machaca taste like refrigerator and rotting wasn't good. My husband got the chilaqiles with chicken it taste like the sauce was just poured over no flavor wasn't good. Food was not good for the price too expensive. Lucy was our waiter she was nice and polite but when we told her about the food, she just said "really" that was it and gave us our bill. No sorry our food wasn't good or anything or can we replace anything its ok won't be going back. I don't recommend anything on the menu. Don't go here I got sick.

Really good food in an unassuming strip of small stores. Had breakfast chiliques with chicken and eggs. Chips were great with the sauce. It’s really big tho, could feed 2 people. Husband had the enchiladas and a chicken taco. Before I looked up it was all gone. He loved it. A lot of people calling in and picking up for to go. Coming back ASAP.

Been visiting Dona Maria for a few years. It is not the best Tex-Mex around but is better than 80% of the Mexican restaurants in the area. I would recommend the Chili Verde. Spicy but not over the top hot. The rest of the menu is good to very good. Portions are on the large side. Prices are in line with the area. I have noticed that pricing for all restaurants are rising and Dona Maria is no exception. Service is spotty. Sometimes it is fantastic and others, down right terrible. I guess that the spotty service is why it is not a 5star. Another visit on 5/7/22. They have remodeled the interior. It is now bright and shiny. The food is still very good. Prices have risen to the new normal of the South Bay Area.

I have celiac disease and safely ate their bowl with carne asada. The meat portion was very generous. Even more important though is that I had no autoimmune response from gluten exposure, not even by cross contamination. I will gladly return.

Hidden Gem in south San Jose. Don't let the outside scare you. The interior is clen, fresh and cheerful. The recipes are delicious and the portions are huuuggge! We liked it more than some other local Mexican restaurants and reccomend giving it a try.

We knew the food was going to be delicious when we tried the salsa that they give you with the chips!! Great food and great customer service.

Went here with a group of friends. Seated right away. Very good chips and salsa. Salsa was just how I like it. Waitress was good. Food served in reasonable time. I had the super burrito and it was good. I ordered "grilled" chicken, but it had shredded chicken inside. Wasn't sure what was up with that, but it was still good. I'd recommend this place.

Great food and friendly service, and they don't skimp on the meat. Delicious salsa too! Highly recommend, especially if you can find a time when they are not crowded.

We recently moved here and wanted to find a good Mexican place nearby. We tried this restaurant and it was empty. Even though it wasn’t busy it took them long to get our dish which was already ready (we can see it as the chef was preparing and putting it out as done) - took them forever to notice and bring it to us. We had to call them and see to check if that’s our food. Sauces seem store bought and they charge for chips and salsa. Based on the prices - the quantity and quality isn’t really that great. Our search continues. Enough parking Restrooms available Accepts cards

Good standard burritos etc. The "veggie veggie" burrito is especially good: bright fresh flavors contrast with rice. The salsa also has a great roasted chili flavor.

Carne asada nachos ⭐️⭐️⭐️: serving size is pretty nice and you get guac for free but that's really it. The carne asada was a bit chewy and I wish there was a bit more of a char on it and maybe some more seasoning.

Incredible wholesome food. Clean environment with a well taken care of bathroom. If you’re looking for big potions with legitimate Mexican food—this is the place.

This is definitely NOT Authentic Mexican Food! I ordered the Chile Rellenos plate for delivery to a rehab center in Los Gatos. The rice was bland. They do not use the correct chile, "Chile POBLANO" for the chile relleno and it looked like strips of some sort of green chile was used. Sad to say that it looks like Doña María has lost her way. I DO NOT recommend this place.

A long way from home, A good taqueria on my mind. Fortunately Google showed me Dona Maria, and I was right down the street. Great menu, plenty of delicious options. The friendly prompt service was appreciated. I was served 3 different salsas, one with the chips, and red and green salsa in squirt bottles(love that). The burrito was very good, the salsas made it even better. The hard work of the proprietor shows: great menu, delicious food, clean and pleasant atmosphere, clean working restroom (love that too). In future whenever we are anywhere close, we will be coming back to Dona Maria.
