Very interesting museum. If you can’t go to Egypt anytime soon and really need to feed your curiosity about ancient Egyptians, this place will definitely help. They covered a lot, very well planned place. Amazing collections. Easily can spend a day. Outdoor gardens are amazing. It wasn’t that crowded at all. Ticket prices are fair and totally worth it.

If you are in San Jose, this museum you should visit. It's a cool place for family too. If you drive to this museum, there are two free parking (on Chapman St) behind the museum. Must visit the garden, it is beautiful. The biggest hibiscus tree I have not ever seen. If it's your first time, please stop the section behind the reception. The video shows the introduction of this museum. I love the idea they have their own app. It's so interesting to learn from this app and visit every sections. My trip for this museum was around 2.5 hrs. Love it. Strong recommend!

Nice museum to spend 3-4 hrs in the bay area. Quite a number of artifacts on display. They also have a guided tour of the tomb between 3-4 which was quite good. Would recommend if you're in the neighborhood.

Amazing hidden gem in the heart of San Jose. I have lived in the area for years and never thought much of going to this. It looks small from the outside but like the ancient pyramids, there's more than meets the eye! There are actually several levels inside, including an underground tunnel and recreation of a tomb deep within the catacombs. The grounds are much more extensive than what can be seen from the street and are nothing short of spectacular, including sculptures, fountains and ancient Egyptian symbols hidden amongst the myriad trees and swaying Papyrus. I'm so glad I finally went with my family! It's also reasonably priced and they even offer discounts for students, veterans and more. Do yourself a favor and take a trip through ancient history to visit Egypt in your backyard!

Pretty cool! And in our backyard! So neat to learn so much about the Egyptians and not have to travel to Egypt or the British Museum. The Tomb was the coolest thing...creepy but cool!! Kids (aged 10 and 12) enjoyed it. Needed more time to go thru the garden in the back.

The tour of a replica Egyptian burial tomb was the best part. Very old aesthetic, inside the museum. A good amount of the museum is about death, coffins, and mummies. The lighting inside is very dim. The outside garden could be kept better. There are some nice Egyptian fixtures out there. Parking is free with a lot behind the building.

Such an interesting, informational, and amazing experience! You can get tickets easily on their website... adults $10, students/seniors/kids $8 and free for children under 6. The collection in this museum was mind blowing (you can take pictures but without flash.) Free parking area across the street. The outside area is also stunning, which explains why people have their professional pictures taken out there. Can't wait to visit again!

You could easily lose sense of time if you are here at Rosicrucian's. It is a quaint place , telling you the history of one of the oldest & very impressive civilization on earth ! They also conduct workshops to engage visitors of all ages. Fortunately, on the day of my visit they had mummification workshop, where folks were given a kit with fake organs to wear like a jacket and the experts explained the process of mummification. It was fun and very educational. The artifacts, slabs, sculptures and the overall experience is very authentic. Also enjoy their peace garden, just roam around and you would be transferred into another world. If you get tired or need to step outside for a hot beverage, there is a Starbucks just around the corner , roughly 200 ft down the road. You must plan your next visit soon.

I decided to stop by for a quick tour at Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. First of all I'm overwhelmed by so much artifacts that are in display in this museum. I actually thought that this place was small, but after going inside I realized that there are different floor levels. I find it nice, that they have easy access to a adublie tour. Overall this place has reasonable price range, plenty of free parking, and a great history lessons. I highly recommend this place for a quick historical education.

This is our second time here and it was just as fun as the first time!! The exhibits are so informative and well laid out. We always learn something new! Must go into the Tomb it is so cool but a little dark to give the effect of being underground. So many details to look at. There is a room with diagrams of different life styles, like the queen in her room, or carpenters building, a family having dinner, etc. The details in the displays are so great and well done! Entrance cost $20 for two people and we spent a whole afternoon here. There are outside grounds you have access to before paying to enter the museum part. The outside grounds are beautiful, clean and relaxing. You could take a book and sit out there for hours! We will be back. Also staff was so friendly!

Great museum with many gorgeous artifacts. It was quite busy this Sunday, but we were able to see all exhibits at our leisure. Don't miss the tour through the tomb. It's worth your time. The exterior is absolutely wonderful.

Second time here, This Museum is incredible, super nice. The staff is very helpful and professional. The price to get in is very affordable. There is a lot to see and learn in the museum; there are three floors. The gardens are very cool and huge. The cool thing is that even if the museum is closed you still can walk through the gardens.

It's pretty good, but I'm deducting some stars because apparently they told me it's cash only. So I had to use my Canadian credit card. But afterwards when I saw someone purchasing a passport, they used cashed for it. Overall this is a pretty good exhibition, it's quite worth it and there's a lot of information! The tomb was interesting, and there's a lot of nice places to walk around the museum as well. They also have free parking which is always great

Super awesome place to visit at a cheap rate. Got to Santa Clara a couple hours before our hotel check-in and had to come here after we saw it was close. They have so many items on display and you can get lost for hours diving into all the historical info they have. Would definitely visit again!

First time visiting and we all had a great time. There is sooo much to see and I don’t think we saw everything considering we had lil ones. Regardless, what we saw was beautiful and holds lots of great history. Very appreciative of all the art created from Egyptians , pottery, jewelry and more. Check out my pics hope u enjoy 🤓

Highlight for me when visiting this museum? The Egyptian tomb beneath it. The audio gave a detailed explanation of what I saw on the walls. This museum has plenty of beautiful relics, models of archaeological sites, sarcophagus, and even an outdoor garden to enjoy. You won't regret visiting this museum of you are into Egyptian history.

It was closed when I arrived at 5:pm. (I knew it ahead of time.) Just wanted to check out the garden. I parked on the street. Found a spot easily perhaps because it was a weekday and the museum was closed. I only saw one person in the garden in addition to my grandson and myself. The garden was well taken care of and designed. We strolled thru the place with ease with a stroller. It was kind of spooky having the entire garden to ourself. I probably watched too many scary movies. Don’t get me wrong. I like the garden. Will certainly go back for the museum when I have a chance.

Great place to visit with family and friends. This takes you to the world of pharaohs and history of paper from papyrus. I recommend taking the guided tour which they have at 11:30 AM PST for no extra charge. Beautiful things to see both outside and inside. I suggest to have at least 2 hours in hand.

I've been coming here off and on since I was a kid and honestly nothing has changed and that's totally okay because now I have my own kid and he was so excited to just be around somewhere that had what was to him "monsters". We explored inside first and then afterwards he got to do all the running around in the garden.

Very Cool! Tons to see and read. Very Large Exihbit. Make sure you have at least 2 hours or more, to really see everything. The staff were professional and friendly. I highly recommend this museum for all ages. A great place to take your family. I recommend bringing ear pods or headphones, so that you can do the audio part, through your cel phone. Parking was pretty easy in the back. We went on the weekend. Enjoy.

Great museum to visit with kids! They have a passport book and stamps for kids to collect and it was fun way to keep them engaged. The highlight for me was the rock cut tomb! It felt very realistic and an experience that I wasn't expecting to get in a museum. We went on a weekday, and there was a guided tour of the tomb that I highly recommend!

There is so much to see!!! You will not be bored. I especially love how they have it organized. There are also ways to be interactive. There are voice descriptions, games, and even a little passport book that you can stamp at different areas of the museum. Plus, there are gardens, koi pools, and a maze/labyrinth to explore I outside as well. I would love to go back and explore again as there is just so much to take in!

The museum is very cool. Grandkids enjoyed it. The tomb tour was fun. Two tour guides did a very good job. But they need to hire a grounds keeper. Part of the experience is enjoying the outside areas. I couldn't because it is in such poor condition and the pond is so dirty. I was very upsetting to see the 2 Koi fish in disgusting dirty water. The peaceful garden was definitely not peaceful.

Fantastic collection of historic items and insightful remnants. Everything from collected pieces of tools and wares, to scale models of various buildings and temples, to even some full-body preserved remains. There's lots to see here, and it's all presented really well. There's also a guided walking tour through a mock-up of an Egyptian tomb, which is absolutely worth checking out (though it can be a bit claustrophobic in some areas). Absolutely worth the visit, and it's also worth it to check out the gardens outside the main building as well.

Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum is really a treasure of knowledge about the past glories, the people, the way of life, the rules laid and followed, the part and role played by women, the religious faiths, the gods and demigods, the most important mummies and models..all.. all.. fascinating experience to any enthusiast irrespective of age, gender, religion, country you belong to and be it an athiest.. this museum tells a lot with photographs, replicas, documents, reminiscents, real mummies and audio guide also. You are assisted with wheelchairs to climb the stairs by the staff with smile, whenever needed. You can spend a whole day here and a park around with beautiful trees and plants. Don't miss this awesome museum, which is worth paying the entrance fee. 🙂👍

Amazing grounds with some of the best plants and trees in downtown SJ vicinity!!!! This is a little gem in the rose garden area and tickets r cheap. They have an extensive collection including several mummy's, a mock tomb, and loads of artifacts. On the grounds they have amazing foliage and even have a banana tree with fruit. We saw a hawk in the tree while visiting

It's great to have this open again. There's a lot to see here, not worth coming in a rush, take your time to read and see the details, they're well prepared. Con: since the pandemic the external gardens and fish ponds seem in a bit of an abandoned state, hopefully they can get back to it's previous glory soon.

This gem was in the middle of a nice, walkable neighborhood. My favorite parts were walking down into a replica tomb and seeing the rare Cleopatra statue, which is only 1 of 7 in the world. There were artifacts that could have been better illuminated because they were completely in the dark, which is pointless displaying them. The gardens are delightful and great for kids and families. Try your luck in the labyrinth. Admission is only $10, with discount options for various groups, like seniors. I passed a small parking lot. The planetarium is closed for renovations and the library is only open on weekends, so I couldn't see it. Parents should know that there are mummies, though most of the kids today seemed fascinated rather than scared.

I visited here when I was in the 6th grade. I had fond memories of it so decided to go again now. It was a lot of fun and I appreciate it more now as an adult. It has a lot to see, but be prepared for children to be running around not behaving. Otherwise, it was a great trip to the museum. I was sad that there isn't a gift shop or any souvenirs.

This place is deceptively good! It looks a little corny from the outside but their collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts is like none I've ever seen before. Interesting, great history. But can be very crowded in AM with school kids. Isn't a big all day type place, and kids get bored pretty quick as it requires a lot of reading of displays. Tours give better info and stories, listen in on tours never heard same thing twice.

  • 5/5 Eddie G. 4 years ago on Google
I came here for a field trip in my junior high(Dartmouth Middle) school, and was, well, delighted to see an ACTUAL mummy(though you could smell the rotten bones through the glass, which was unfortunate) and some more mummies, and a life size model of what a pyramid would look like, which was really cool but also scary(I'm pretty sure that the life size pyramid is only accessible by the groups or classes with the guides). Overall, it was really nice and detailed.

Well curated collection, but could use better upkeep. There's free parking at the back of the museum compound, a decent entrance fee (generous discounts available). There had been much to learn and be amazed at. My favorite part was the underground walkway that made one feel what it's like to walk through an Egyptian tomb. The building is dated, and the grounds look like they only get a cursory manicure every now and then, but it's easy to see how beautiful it all was (and could still be). The pond in the Peace Garden had some healthy koi inhabitants. Would love to come back and see the museum in a polished and renovated state.

    - Guided tours - Can be walked within 2hrs. - Reasonably priced When you arrive right in front is the admissions desk. The price for two adults was $16 with a AAA discount applied. The staff was very friendly, nice and knowledgeable. You can walk around the galleries in any order. The are about six galleries in all. The gardens outside are beautiful. Overall a wonderful museum!

We had an hour before catching a flight out of town. Great museum! We rushed through in one hour at the end of the museum's hours and saw almost everything. Probably would plan on a 2-3 hour visit otherwise.

From the outside, museum does not look like it is as LARGE as it actually is on the inside. The place is huge! There are different levels so put on your walking shoes. Many stairs to go up and down on. But there is a electric ramp for wheelchair or walker accessibility. There were a lot of people and many had brought their children, some seemed a little bored a lot seemed to have fun. From dieties, to actual mummified people, to beadwork, pieces from the tombs, and of course sarcophagus room. Give at least 2 hours, 3 if you decide to do one of the weekend workshops that are given-look on the website to find out which one is being given. There is also a lybrynth behind the building that you can walk and meditate with. There is also a separate planetarium but right now it is closed for renovations.

It has quite an impressive collection, with both original egyptian artifacta , replicas of actual artifacta and artistic renditions of well known artifacta. It's true it's not the British museum, or another bigger museum but the staff are CLEARLY dedicated to their work, were unfailingly pleasant, patient and helpful. This museum is a definite labour of love. It's not the poshest but it's definitely deserving of patronage. They do need a gift shop though.
