Absolutely perfect park, worth the $6 parking fee. You could park outside along the road and enjoy the same trails, but you car probably won't be as safe and you will miss out on the great/clean bathrooms all with running water and water fountains. The campgrounds looked nice with electric and water, plus lockers for food (to keep the food safe from animals). The trail was nice and wide with a nice climb. I only went 5 miles but climbed right at 1200 ft. I would highly recommend this park for camping, hiking or even a picnic.

An incredible park and surrounding nature preserve that are easily accessible and provide plenty of challenging or easy hikes, picnic areas, camp sites, and family gathering areas. There's also a venue stage for events, possibly weddings. Highly recommend the Sanborn Trail Loop, it's challenging and long enough to make you break a sweat and leave you feeling accomplished. Trails and park are dog friendly. Park entry fee is $6 per vehicle.

Surprising and wonderful park. Day use picnicking and hiking plus walk in camping in the forest and about a dozen RV-only spots with water and electric hookups. About 30' max depth on back-in spaces. Not cheap for RV's at $44/night but very nice clean, quiet area.

I need to preface this review with a little background. My wife and I travel full time from March till October of every year. This is our seventh year on the road. We don’t stay in one place for six months, rather we move on down the road every 2 to 5 days. This gives you an understanding of the level of experience we have with traveling. Sanborn County Park is a stunning refuge from the busy world. You will find incredible wilderness right in the heart of San Jose and the surrounding cities. There are miles of trails in this 3,000 plus acre park. There are walk in tent only campsites. Once you enter the redwoods, oaks and fir trees you feel wilderness immediately. This place is a haven for tent campers that need a quick break from city life. --- The RV sites can accommodate rigs up to 30 feet. It is basically a parking lot type of arrangement. Water and 30 amps on site with a dump station. In short, this place is stunningly beautiful. Everything is very clean and the friendly staff is a pleasure to talk to. ---- OK here’s the negative. The road leading into this park is narrow and dangerous for campers pulling bigger rigs. There are several blind curves on this extremely narrow road with a one lane bridges to cross. The campground will take rigs up to 30 feet in length, but the restrictions on Sanborn Road leading to the campground limit rigs to less than 25 feet. The bushes and trees lining the road have limbs extending out into the road, and low lying limbs are everywhere in the campground. My rig is 12’ 8” high and it was a maze trying to navigate the road. Frequently I had to get over in the other lane to avoid vegetation from brushing the camper. Be very careful in the campground in avoiding low lying limbs. Lastly, DO NOT MISS your turn into this park. The road dead ends about a quarter of a mile away. It is almost impossible to turn around at the end of this road and there is nothing but small narrow private driveways that couldn’t be used to turn around. In short, you are pretty much doomed if you miss your turn and continue looking for a place to turn around. The locals told us that they have seen campers stuck at the end of the road for over six hours waiting for people to move their cars so that they could turn around. In closing, this is a great campground for tent camping and small rigs. This campground should restrict campers to 25 feet or less. Driving the road to the campground is not for the faint of heart. I wish I could give this campground two different ratings. I would give it five stars for campers with tents or rigs under 25 feet. For campers over 25 feet I would give it 3 stars and not recommend traveling here. P.S. No Verizon cell signal. I heard others say they had no cell service.

Beautiful park that is well maintained and isn't over-crowded. The entry fee at the time of this writing (2/1/22) is only $6 per vehicle. They also offer camping and RV hookups. It would be an amazing place to gather a few friends to grill up on their bring your own charcoal grills!

Absolutely gorgeous and wholesome. Smells good as well. Great views and nice trail design, albeit with fallen trees here and there. This place was my childhood. I love the hikes within the general area and the one up to the reservoir.

One of the best state parks near the San Jose area. Many trails, hikes and other outdoor activities surrounded with many trees. A good camping spot with advance reservation required. Multiple car parking spaces to accommodate more people. We saw multiple birthday celebrations and family gathering events. State parks charge $6 for each car. We cover 50% of trails walk.

This park have a great picnic area, we went inside and anyone was in the entrance to pay the $6 parking, we park and then we went for a hike with my husband and my dog. Were some big trees fallen in the middle of the hiking trail, after half hour waking one trail was closed and the other is in bad conditions, from that point dogs are not allowed. When we came back to the car we got a ticket for $45 because we didn’t pay the parking, the machine is not visible and we realized was a machine there to pay the parking when we came back from the trail.

Just the best park. It has everything you could possibly want. Beautiful grass area, redwoods, and creek. Some really challenging hikes with views or a quick walk around. Lots of spaces to grill and a lot of large gazebos for grilling/events. Also has a space for an outdoor wedding venue. Always see deer in the morning and evening in the main area. Restrooms are available. The camping area has trollys to carry your gear to your site. The sites include a grill, a concrete cooler to protect food from critters, and a wood picnic table. Restrooms scattered throughout. Showers only at the parking lot. Park entry closes at sunset.

Great hike. We were going to Castle Rock but they don’t allow dogs so the ranger sent us across the street. We took skyline train, nice easy trail. There were several places to stop and climb rocks, at summit rock there is a beautiful view if you are willing to climb up a large rock. The trails are marked and well kept. We parked at Castle Rock parking lot and walked across hwy 35. Great afternoon hike into the dark. We watched the sunset at the rock.

Shaded trails with redwood trees. Very peaceful. Restrooms are clean and open. Dog friendly ! Will visit again.

Great place to disconnect and enjoy nature! The space and amenities are kept very clean and staff where super nice and friendly! There is no verizon/att cell reception for most the park so be prepared! There are large picnic areas as well as ample benches under the shade to sit and unwind! There are a few trails in the park with good views too! The park has ton of large trees! Cleanness: very clean Busy: busy but enough space for everyone Price: 6per car Shade: u can find shade to sit and most of the trails have ample shade Connectivity: no att/verizon Parking: many lots, not a problem Access: decent roads most of the way, slight road work close to park made it one lane but nothing bad! Far less wavy than lot of other parks around

One of the best places to hike and even camp. We hiked on a Saturday morning. Road to the park is itself so beautiful, lot of parking place ($6). Trail is so beautiful and full of adventures. Crossing fallen trees sometimes under them and sometimes over them. Kids (3 & 7 yrs old) loved it. Small waterfall was a great surprise for us and experience to cross it without getting our shoes wet was fun. Lot of places to camp which is what we would be planning to do in summers for sure. Would definitely come here again and again and explore other trails too.

A favorite destination in Saratoga. $6 parking fee. There is lots of room at the park. Picnic tables, bbq pits, RV parking, restrooms. There are a couple of areas that can reserved. Just passed the park there is a camping area. Lots of trails that are mostly shaded. The Sanborn trail is wide to begin with but is single track about 1.5 in. It leads to Skyline Blvd and Castle Rock State Park. Beautiful place

Very peaceful and scenic. Great campsites, not too crammed together. Would have given 5 stars but getting to the site was strenuous...pushing a cart with all our stuff up a 1/4 mile STEEP hill. We weren't prepared and that's on us.

Great park with multiple trails to hike with kids. We did Peterson trail loop that is 2 miles up and down. The park has camping grounds, clean and running water restrooms, lots of picnic areas and ample parking. We will go there again.

How have I not utilized this park before?? We were there for camping, in the RV section. The RV sites are essentially a parking slip with a little bit of space behind you. There's a bench and a place for a cookout, use only charcoal. Not super exciting, but not why you come to this park. The weekend I was there, everyone was super chill. There were kids riding their bike around the circle. Folks carrying in and carrying out their camping supplies. It was just lovely Trees and open space everywhere!!!!!! Hiking, hiking, hiking everywhere!!!!!! Multiple picnic tables beside charcoal grills. Lots of folks having little get togethers. Lots of people bring their dogs, at the time of this writing, leashed dogs are allowed on the trails. They're a super strong Wi-Fi in the RV parking lot, also, that is where the cars park who are tent camping. THE NIGHT SKY!!!! I could see the night sky, everything around you is dark. Just beautiful ❣️ Oh, the bathrooms are super clean. There's even soap. Showers are available, I don't have any feedback on those. The rangers helpful and kind. The only downside was I wanted to ride my bike and I wasn't really sure where I could access the paths that allow bikes.

Small but incredibly popular country park on the edge of Saratoga. Has walk through the redwoods, and a large central grassy area for picnics, bbqs and sports. Lots of parking. But there is an entrance fee. Some nice campgrounds as well in the woods.

The park is just gorgeous this year. The streams are flowing like rivers after the rain. It is lush green everywhere. An absolute must visit place in the next few weeks.

Beautiful redwoods, mostly shaded trails perfect for summer hiking. There is parking available for $6 and surprisingly Xfinity/Verizon network works there. It is slightly crowded.

We were here for a wedding. What a wonderful location and venue. Beautiful! Deer and turkey roaming about. The only down side were the bees when food came out and the gnats. But, you are in nature! Clean bathrooms

A beautiful gem in Saratoga. Sanborn County Park is an awesome little park with lots of trails to go through. Make sure you carry a bug repellent though, as there are lots of mosquitoes on some trails. The parking fee is $6 and the parking is ample. We were also lucky to see some deer in the park. A relaxing way to spend your time.

The park has quite a few trails to choose from. There is parking available inside the park but there are also spots to park outside on the Sanborn rd and some of the trails can be accessed from there too. The park is pretty shaded with the help of tall trees which provide a good cover from the sun. The hike itself is a mix of moderate to tough in terms of difficulty, with some trails being very steep.
