We made our reservation and waited for our instructions. Received a video giving us the "inside scoop" and password for gaining entry. Knocked on the door at our assigned time and we were greeted by Tommy Potatoes, who threatened to "mash" us if we didn't behave. We were then escorted through the hidden bookcase to our candle lit table. We were treated to freshly baked bread. We ordered cocktails and draft beer. The margarita was sooo delicious! We chose the Gargonzola Mussels for our appetizer. We weren't expecting greatness, because this is the Southwest. We were wrong! Fresh, steamed perfectly and the Gargonzola sauce was amazing! Our entrées were equally impressive. Surf and turf- filet and lobster tail with brussel sprouts and seasoned mashed potatoes. Ribeye with a huge loaded baked potato. Both were perfectly cooked! I wish we had saved room for dessert. The service was impeccable. Everything you would hope to see in a fine dining establishment from napkin placement, to hot towels between the appetizer and entrée. Never empty water or drink glasses and empty plates that quickly disappeared. We dined early, so just caught the beginning of a keyboard musician playing soft jazz. It complimented the big band music played throughout the restaurant. I would have enjoyed staying longer and sipping a cocktail at the bar to enjoy the live music. The decor and ambiance was everything I would have imagined a real Speakeasy would have been. What a fun dining experience! I'll look forward to going again!

What a place! Based on a speakeasy in the 20s, you need a reservation and a password to get past the bouncer. After you passed the bouncer, you'll be instructed in an what looks like an office with memoribilia. From there you enter the establishment through a hidden door in a bookshelf. The atmosphere and the staff is set in the 20s as well. The menu is well sorted with focus on steak and seafood. The vegetarian dish doesn't lack imagination or flavor. The presentation on the plate is good and the portion size more than satisfying. The wine list is very agreeable and there's a full bar with cocktails, spirits and beers. A place one needs to see for sure.

It was excellent quality. A little high end on the prices, but still none the less, delicious. Extra great on the customer service. We had a great time with the door man. Really top notch experience. A little disappointed that not all staff members are dressed up. The only other down size was the close proximity to other guests. 😕 Either way. Will recommend it, and more than likely, we will return.

I don't give many 5 stars... But this place with their speakeasy theme, door man and piano player is a great set up for the food and drinks which were top notch! We sat in the bar and the bartender really knows his stuff! This makes my top 2 list for high end dining experiences in Albuquerque

Disappointed! Things started solid with the Sirloin wrapped asparagus but quickly spiraled down hill. Wait staff was initially attentive but then didn't inform us of any specials and left us sitting there for over 20 min w/o any service while she served neighboring tables. Food was an absolute mess. Lobster bisque was tasteless and Luke warm. Not a sign of lobster bits or flavor. Salad was best part of the meal. Ordered the ribeye med rare, it came Med, it lacked flavor of any kind but more importantly it was so tough it was nearly inedible. Ala Carte order was mushrooms and they were another flavorless item, literally tasted like boiled stems, horrible! Dessert was ok, basically ice cream on a cookie. Overall place is overhyped and not worth it. In today's food scene you can't do it based on atmosphere alone! Was a let down on an important day.

Had the pleasure and enjoyment of having my birthday dinner with my amazing wife here! The overall experience was amazing. The atmosphere was great. The setting and overall feeling of Vernon's is a true one of a kind. Dinner selections were great. The service was above and beyond perfect. The taste and quality of the food are beyond measure! We had: Sautéed Mushrooms Risotto Braised Beef Boneless Ribeye Strawberry shortcake (birthday) Vernon's Speakeasy is a must visit and will visit again for anyone.

I really enjoy eating here. The food here tastes amazing and has top notch service too. Our waiter Josh was very knowledgeable about the items on the menu and was able to make great recommendations for our table. One of our party had ordered something and it wasn't to their liking. We told Josh about it and he quickly got them something else that they really enjoyed. It's a nice place to get dressed up and dine at a fancy restaurant. It's a whole old-fashioned speakeasy experience and it's fun. It is a bit dark in the there, but that is part of the ambiance. Like all fancy restaurants, it is on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for as the food quality is outstanding. I definitely recommend eating here anytime you want to celebrate something or just want to have a fine dining experience.

It's a unique experience that could actually be taken up a level for authenticity. We never got our password to enter so were a bit confused. The food was excellent, the drinks were decent but not as amazing as the food. Our server didn't tell us all the specials so I feel that we missed out a bit, but it was still good. If you can get the table by the fireplace, go for it!

This is definitely a unique steakhouse in Alburqurque .. the ambiance makes it perfect for a date. It is very dark inside and they have live musicians playing music for everyone inside. Because it is dark, it is hard to see the menu if you do not use the QR code to view the menu on your phone. Once you walk in you are greeted by the host who explains the “rules” of the house and you walk through a hidden door to get to your table. The best part of the entire experience was that our waiter, Sterling (who was very nice and professional), explained that pretty much everything on the menu can be customized. For example, their Mac and cheese has ham in it but if you don’t want ham, they can make it however you want. When a restaurant can do that for you, you know every single item is fresh and made to order. The lobster bisque was rich and delicious. Everyone in my party was very pleased with their food.

Great service, we were seated at the bar and I always appreciate a friendly bartender. He suggested cocktails and gave us samples of the in-house mezcal. We were there just for drinks and dessert and everything was good. I am again not sure why not 5 stars, maybe it was a good experience but not the best experience

We took our youngest for her 21st birthday. The whole experience was fantastic. The Doorman started the evening off for us spectacularly and it never waned all evening. Our server and back waiter were superb. The meal was even better than I could have hoped for. Ironically, we had eaten at Ruth Chris Steakhouse for the first time ever a few weeks ago. No comparison. At Ruth Chris, we were seated in a room with about 20+ other tables. It was so loud, we had a hard time talking over the other conversations around us. At Vernon's, the seating was much more intimate and easy to visit with each other. As far as the meal itself, Vernon's by a landslide. Every dish we ordered was perfectly cooked and scrumptious. The Fritto Misto may have been the best starter we've ever eaten. Included are pictures of the NY Strip Oscar Style with the delicious truffle fries and The Shrimp Scampi. We will be back for sure!!! Thanks Vernon's

This was such a fun experience! The whole atmosphere was neat. You have to have a password to get in. You knock and the guy that answers was so fun and in character. The hostesses were lovely. Our waiters were fantastic and so attentive. Fine dinning at its best. The food was incredible. Be prepared to spend money but it's worth every cent. My partner got an old fashioned and it was divine. This is a perfect spot to celebrate. You'll feel like royalty and be treated as such. I highly recommend the filet mignon. It was seasoned to perfection and butter soft.

Amazing spot for a romantic date, or just to treat yourself😉 Service is top notch, cozy elegant atmosphere, steaks are amazing and always come out cooked right, and great selection of bourbons and other drinks as well.

Our server John, above and beyond outstanding service and attention, made our experience here top notch, the steak prepared to perfection along with the bass.

The place is like nothing else around town. Service was impeccable. The food was amazing. We had the 20oz steak, adult Mac and cheese, 12oz ribeye and dessert. Highly recommend this place. I wish I could recall our server. He was on top of everything, very attentive.

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary and decided to come here for the first time. Parking is a bit of a nightmare as it gets pretty busy. We started with the blue crab cakes and they were the best crab cakes I've had in town so far. We both ordered the prime rib and while I had no complaints, we were not expecting them to come smothered in a red sauce as it does not say that on the menu (that I can recall). My husband was a bit disappointed his came drowned in it. I had mentioned my garlic allergy to my server a couple times and I was unfortunately unable to eat my vegetables as they did have garlic on them. The lobster tail was amazing, tasted very fresh and not fishy like most other places in town. We were given a deconstructed Ditch apple pie for dessert that was to die for, we were stuffed at this point but couldn't resist. Only thing I would say is they need new chairs, the chairs at our table were ripped and we were a little surprised considering how expensive the place is. All in all, it was a good experience, would go back for the crab cakes and a whole lobster tail next time.

Good food and great atmosphere. I guess the kitchen missed a little of the order so we got it almost right, but other then missing truffle oil it was a great dinner. The lighting at the tables was very low which was romantic but you could not see your food so it was easy to miss stuff that the kitchen might have missed. The waiter was so nice and offered to bring it too, but we didn't want to make them fix the kitchens mistake.

From the moment we knocked and gave our password to Mickey two shoes, to our Anniversary Dessert it was Amazing. Gloria, Awesome is a understatement on how well she was on being our waitress. Food was outstanding. The Ambiance is Phenomenal! The Artwork throughout was Amazing and for sale. If you have the opportunity to go here for dinner you won't be disappointed.

My husband and I went for date night , which isn’t often for us and this place did not disappoint. The waitress was so kind and everyone worked together to make sure the place was moving smoothly. We got the prime rib meal and it was the best we’ve ever had. We also got salmon and it was wonderful. Such a fun place that really pays attention to the details even down to the type of water you want. I hope they read this and know how amazing they are doing.
