The
Canteen
allows
you
to
seat
yourself,
and
there’s
both
indoor
and
outdoor
dining.
The
food
consists
of
noshes,
soups,
salads,
and
sandwiches.
They
do
not
have
a
full
kitchen,
which
is
why
the
food
tends
toward
being
more
prep-and-serve
rather
than
traditional
cooked
bar
food.
I
had
the
Pigmac
(presumably
a
play
on
the
name
of
McDonald’s
Big
Mac),
which
had
pulled
pork,
Carolina
BBQ
sauce,
cheddar
cheese,
and
Hatch
chile
slaw.
I
thought
the
sandwich
was
fine,
but
thought
there
was
going
to
be
BBQ
sauce
on
the
sandwich
as
a
condiment
as
well
rather
than
in
just
the
meat
mixture.
I
couldn’t
really
taste
any
of
the
chile
in
the
sandwich,
so
that
wouldn’t
be
a
draw
for
me
to
get
it
again.
The
sandwich
came
with
a
pickle
spear
and
bag
of
potato
chips.
I
had
the
Canteen
apple
cider
(6.0%),
a
year
round
offering.
It
wasn’t
too
sharp
or
dry.
It’s
the
only
cider
on
the
menu.
I
believe
the
establishment
is
open
serve
rather
than
servers
having
assigned
tables.
That
wasn’t
an
issue
at
all;
the
service
was
attentive.
Overall,
a
fine
place.
I
think
the
Canteen
would
benefit
from
an
expanded/full
kitchen
and
expanded
cider
menu.
I’d
likely
go
back
if
friends
wanted
to
meet
and
play
cards,
as
it
seems
like
a
chill
place,
but
the
food
wouldn’t
be
a
draw
on
my
end.
