Great friend chicken and waffles. This has been the best friend chicken we have had in New Mexico, but that unfortunately is a low bar. This would be average fried chicken compared to what else I've tried. We got the honey pecan side, which is exactly that, so tasty but not worth the $2. Edit: because I was asked. The flavor of the chicken was very earthy it wasn't bad just not something that I personally enjoy. The waffle was nice and hardy, but was just a basic Bisquick recipe.

This is a nice place to get something different in New Mexico. I recommend you try it. Their southern flair to New Mexico food is a great alternative to other local places. Generally they are good. This time however, they only get 3 stars. Maybe they were in a rush or they had an inexperienced cook on hand, I don’t know. I ordered the chicken chicharrones…naked. The first order came out completely burned! (See the first photo.) I can’t believe my server actually brought these to me. When asked, “How is everything?” I had to ask her for another order. I couldn’t eat the charred chicken. She gladly replaced them, but it seems Nexus needs to pay more attention to the QUALITY of the food leaving their kitchen. After all, if they are not careful, it can start affecting the establishment’s reputation. The chicken and waffles were the bomb…for NM. Most everything else I’ve tried here is very good! I hope they don’t start slipping into mediocrity… UPDATE (8/17/22): Today I received a reply to my review from the owner saying “it is a shame” I left a review on my worst experience and not on my other good experiences here. First, you never “shame” a customer for giving fair and accurate feedback. Second, this was not my only review of the establishment. I’ve left reviews of positive experiences as well. It’s not a good sign when a restaurant owner can’t accept customer criticism that is reasonable (three stars) and accurate (backed up by photos).

Great local brewery. Food wasn't bad, beer was outstanding. I had Chicken and Waffles. Almost too much food. Waffle was okay, chicken was outstanding and flavorful. Biggest complaint was that there was so much on the plate it was hard to work with. If you're going to put out bone in chicken, give me a little real estate to cut it up. Wife and I shared a flight. Three of the four (Honey Chamomile, Cream Ale and Tangerine) were outstanding. The best I've had at a brewery. The Red 2.0 was good, if a trace bitter for me. Still, we joined their neighborhood club on the way out. So, all in all, food was tasty and beer was exceptional. We'll be back.

Delicious and my first time experience! My kids took me and it was a wonderful dinner! We were a family of 5, and everyone left happy and full. The kids were so happy with their meals too! Server Quinn set the bar for us- friendly, helpful and attentive . The fried chicken (3 of us) was soooo good! The fried fish really tasty, the pork sandwich perfect. We had fried zucchini for an appetizer and fried bread pudding for dessert. Oh my goodness!! This is definitely a new favorite spot in ABQ!

Since the pandemic started I heard aot of good things about Nexus. It took more than a minute to get here and I'm coming back for more. I had the NM Soul burger and let me tell there's nothing like this in Albuquerque. The sweet potato fries are really good here. We're lucky to have so many great places to eat but Nexus holds it's own against any restaurant. The Mac & cheese is to die for. Also, the service is top notch here. My waitress was very friendly and made sure I was good. The general manager also made the rounds and checked on the guests. I will be returning and hope anyone that reads this checks out this gym off I-25!

Ordered the southern fried chicken sandwich and the chicken was dry and tough :( probably just an off day but I couldn’t finish it. Environment is atmospheric and clean. Was super excited since Guy Fieri has been here and I’ll definitely come back and try something else on the menu.

Fantastic experience here. We traveled to Albuquerque to eat green chile and to see the sights. We’ve eaten at all of the iconic places in town and this restaurant was our absolute FAVORITE. Reasonable prices. Excellent portions. Mike! Our server Mike was awesome!!!! We loved the NM Hot Catfish, my grilled chicken sandwich was excellent. My husband said the gumbo was some of the best he’s ever eaten! Save room for dessert and get the waffle batter fried bread pudding. Oh my. That was heaven in every bite. Beer was excellent also! This place is a bit challenging to find using google navigation - You have to drive through another business’s parking lot to get to theirs… so watch for the signs… ❤️

Wanted to check out this Black-owned brewery while in town. The beer flight was great while we waited at the bar for a table. I had the chicken and waffles NM style. The rest of my party has the Cat fish and swai NM style. They say it's spicy, but it's not. The plates are large, so you will definitely have leftovers. Our server, Cullen, was excellent and did a great job providing recommendations.

So delicious! The fried chicken breasts and gravy was great! The greens were super fresh and flavorful! The red beans and rice were awesome! The fried pickles were so ight and crispy. The road in is a bit confusing but you must check it out. If I return to Albuquerque I will be back!

We really liked this place! Maybe the first brewery I’ve been to that didn’t have your typical “brewery” food. Loved that it was all southern, and delicious. Menu isn’t huge but they do their items well. I also tried fried chicken, wings, and the Mac n cheese, and we loved them all. Beer was tasty too.

When I say this place is out of the way in the middle of a city by a main freeway, I mean it, but it's worth it. This place is on a one way street on a frontage road next to the freeway on ramp that you must drive thru a mini-maze to find your destination. On the good side, the food and beer are very good with large portions too. We had the chicken and waffles and I would get them again except I would go with the standard waffles and not upgrade to the cornbread version. The chicken was excellent to complete the desired effect. My only knock is on the service side, where it might have been lacking because of staffing, so I only gave them a 4 star review.

We sat at the bar. There is a welcoming vibe at Nexus. The service was excellent. Their catfish is fried to perfection. I didn't realize it was a soul food place until I saw the catfish. The hazy IPA I had was good. It would be nice if they had a juicy double IPA. We highly recommend eating here and having a beer.

We were so excited to visit and experience Southern Soul food on our mini vacation! I wanted to run into the kitchen and hug the chef. Thank you for making my Mother’s Day and birthday weekend complete! Watching my husband enjoy his Chicken and Waffles was a delight. Nexus Brewery is the place to visit! New Mexico owes us nothing. Great service and delicious food in one place!

A very good place to enjoy lunch. The food was spot on, the service was friendly and efficient. It was busy when we went and a little noisy, but still we had an enjoyable meal. The chicken was tasty, but my favorite was the rice and beans with sausage. And, for dessert the peach cobbler was perfect.

Great food, had hot catfish. Wanted a patio table so we could have our dogs with us, but the patio was full. No worries, just got it to go & ate in the car. Truly, the only sourness of the experience is the bogus mask mandate in this stupid state. Seriously, you think the virus is dangerous when not eating & benign while you are!?!? Your leadership is dumber than a fifth coat of paint.

I went to Nexus yesterday for the first time and this is the best chicken and waffles place I've ever had! The collard greens were awesome super flavorful, the macaroni and cheese was amazing, the chickens pieces were so big I couldn't believe it and so crunchy and tasty, and the waffles were absolutely perfect I've never in my life had a waffle that good! And not only that they had all the condiments that I wanted and they were perfect hot sauce, Ranch dressing, and the syrup was amazing! Great staff great food! I mean it don't get no better than this baby!

It's been a while since I visited even though I have one of their membership cards. The place was extremely busy and I might have been overlooked in many other restaurants but the Nexus staff were on top of things. The host had me wait a few minutes but kept track and seated me promptly. The server was crazy busy (I don't even know how many tables he had but I would have been stressed out). He got right to me, put in my order and brought my beer and food in a flash. Amazingly efficient service. The food was the best I've had so far. Light crispy fries pickles, and super fresh, tender chicken. I do wish the NM hot was as spicy as the version I fell in love with a few years ago but it was still delicious and probably more to the taste of folks who aren't capsaicin junkies like me : )

Soul food, yes!!! Their greens are good, not as good as my wife's but still worthy. My favorite was the cat fish nuggets, I never got to their famous chicken it was so good. I really liked the homemade tartar sauce, mmmmm.

Great vibe, killing customer service and listen bro, the spice here is off the chain. Got me reaching for my water, then going back for more. Fried catfish is a must. And the fried chicken is so tender but crispy. Gotta say I love it, and I'd take people here to hang out or for business lunch

This place was a pleasant surprise! It feels like a hole in the wall and can be difficult to access, but it's worth it. The food is a unique, delicious merging of New Mexican and New Orleans cuisine

Clean establishment with amazing service, food came out hot and fresh and seasoned incredibly. Lively atmosphere with sports available on the TVs in the bar area all around.

This place is fantastic. In house beers. Had the red ale great tasting smooth flavor. The catfish filet was perfectly cooked. The gumbo was perfect with a bit of a Chile kick. The service was top notch. Shout out to Loretto our server. Knowledgeable, friendly and quick. Great job.

The food was great! They have a lot of food so we kind of over ordered as it was our first time there. If you are going to do take out, order online before you get there. I waited about 30 minutes. There is a comfortable spot to wait. I will say the service was great! Oh yeah! The bread pudding is awesome! You can even get it deep fried!!

5 star food!!! I thought Nexus was just about really great craft beers, but I was surprised to find out they are known as having some of the top fried chicken and waffles in the state! Google didn't disappoint because wow! The wait for the made to order freshly fried chicken mind blowing. The texture was crispy, spices were delicious, chicken flavorful, and juicy. The waffles were made to perfection and married with the syrup for the most epic balance sweet, salt, and umami. 10/10!

Wow.... Fried okra was amazing. (I don't like okra, it was the Chipotle ranch) the best fried chicken in a long time. Nice dark and perfectly crispy skin, juicy perfectly cooked chicken. Iona (sp?) Was providing excellent service with a smile you could see through her mask. Highly recommend excellent meal!!!!

The parking lot was weird. But the food looked and tasted great. My burger was great with the red sauce and my girlfriends chicken was still crispy even with the gravy (she waited for me to take the picture while I was I'm the bathroom😧 she's great🥰). But on our first visit to ABQ this was an excellent way to cap off our last full day. Definitely a good stop and Jacob will take good care of you. Go Cowboys!

Nexus is a great place to visit. The food is Soul Food with a South West Mexican infusion. The 3 dishes I consumed were filled flavor and spices. On the Brewery side, my imperial stout was robust and flavorful. The bartender was attentive and friendly. All of the food choices at Nexus had you wanting a sample. Nexus is worth a visit when visiting Albuquerque. It’s a hang spot for locals to experience good dining.

Coming from St. Louis, this place blew my mind away! Everything was seasoned so well and has lots of flavor. Wish I made my fish sandwich spicy because my brother got the New Mexico hot fish plate, and it was delicious. They were not joking with how hot the New Mexico sauce is! No disappointments whatsoever!
