We had pleasant experience here with food and service. Beautiful interior decor portraying New Mexican culture! Only wish the chips were fresh and salsa was hot. Also if the food was served little hotter.

I wasn't expecting this place to be good but I was really wrong, its a really nice place and the food was good, big portions. Just know they say it is Mexican food but is new mexican food with mexican names :)

Great food! The price is reasonable for what you get, and the atmosphere is pleasing.

This place is locally owned, been around forever. We used to come here at least once a week, but haven’t been for the past two years since we moved across town. Went recently for lunch and it’s still as amazing as I remember. Always got the combination plate. You can choose three things and one side for lunch. I got the chicken enchilada, chili relleno and a carne adovada crispy taco with a side of potatoes, your choice of red or green chili. Comes with fresh chips and salsa and sopapillas after your meal. Everything was hot and fresh, 💯 recommend. 🤤🤤🤤

Since we had never been here before, me and my husband ordered the Plato Grande. It has a sample of everything we wanted to try. And it was all delicious. From the chili rellano to the chicken enchilada. And while I like my guacamole with more chunks the flavor was delicious and fresh. My husband (who never eats guac) loved their creamy style guac. There was so much that what we took he with us after we ate looked like a take out order. 😂 We will definitely be going back.

Went here because it was recommended by the New Mexico.org tourism website. But we’re very disappointed. Waited for 30 min for food, the rice was cold. Guacamole is not freshly made

Excellent New Mex lunch. Their menu is pretty expansive, with lots of great options that make it pretty hard to decide, but I went Adovada stuffed Sopapilla w/Papitas. It was an Herculean effort to finish the platter, but it was delicious, and that sure helped the cause. Real nice decor to set the mood, too. Staff were pretty busy, but we were in no rush, as three old high school buds gabbing away and reminiscing of decades or yore. I'm not local, but visit every year, so I can see another visit in the future with that great menu...

I saw online that they serve a puffy taco so I had that with beans and corn. It was delicious, more like a native taco!! Also had a pomegranate margarita, probably won't order that again. They were short staffed so be patient. Our food came out quickly and our server was friendly. Loved that puffy taco!!

Waitress was very attentive and super friendly. Didn’t really love the food. Sopapillas were the “greasiest” I’ve had so far but still good. Navajo taco was sub par, and the beef tacos were just dry ground beef chunks and the shell tasted like it came from a box. We did like the chips and salsa!

We visited on a recommendation, and after having an excellent experience this was one of the first places we thought of when we needed to grab dinner on a recent Saturday night. Despite being busy when we arrived, we were seated immediately. Service was excellent, friendly and engaging, despite clearly having a lot of ground to cover. Our waitress seemed to have 1/3rd of the restaurant, and yet managed to be everywhere she needed to be - amazing. There were several large groups and the restaurant was busy, so we were warned there may be a wait for food - but that didn't happen, dinner was brought promptly. As we expected, it was as excellent as we remembered. If you're looking for New Mexican-style Mexican, you can't go wrong here. We'll certainly be back!

Very good! Sorry we wasn't able to eat inside, with the covid going on. We have never been here before and was from out of town. I recomend this place.

First time going there, had a great experience. The food was excellent. Most places the chicken ends up a bit bland without covering it in chili but it was excellent straight up. I was very pleasantly surprised. Chili was flavorful without being drowned out by too much heat. The taco salad was more taco than salad. Very meat heavy and we had to ask for more lettuce to balance it but I'm sure most people like it that way. It seems everywhere we go it's that way. All in all it was fantastic and we will likely become regular customers.

I have never been disappointed with the food or service here. My tea was never empty and that's something I'm picky about. Food was amazing, lots of flavor and great portions for the price. I had the Chicken Chimmi!

Went Saturday afternoon with my mom, and had the best lunch ever! Hostess and Host friendly and professional, waitress was so friendly helpful and simply the best. Busboy on point. Manager walking floor and assisting. My plate of enchiladas was made like my granny was working in the kitchen. Yes I will be back, this place is GOOD, GOOD, GOOD.

If you’re looking for average food and average to below average service, this is the place for you! Everything on the menu tastes like microwaved leftovers and is $3-$5 more expensive than any half decent Mexican restaurant in the metro. Nothing I’ve had here is particularly bad, just not very good. If you want to spend $15/plate for something as simple as microwaved enchiladas with old beans, this is definitely the place for you. $13 margaritas, pace salsa, and store-bought hard shell tacos make for a wonderfully average experience.

I've been on a journey while driving through New Mexico trying to get Navajo taco. The last time I had Navajo taco was 25 years ago as a teenager on a mission trip to Four Corners. Places either closed early, or the fried bread wasn't ready yet. So when I discovered Navajo taco on the menu at a Mexican restaurant, I was skeptical. But let me tell you, it was amazing and the service, despite being in the middle of a pandemic was on point and prompt. I called from the parking lot, and 10 minutes later, I had my Navajo taco. Thank you! Happy to support a small business and local restaurant!

Very friendly, did enforce mask wearing and public tracing when you walked into the restaurant. There was distant seating between groups of patrons. My company is a regular of theirs and we were placed in a waiters section that had a good impression with my copatron's. Kudos to Mitchell for being very friendly and patient w us as well as the guy busing the tables. We were served with in a reasonable amount of time, as well as the food was freshly finished. I was very pleased about the speed it took for our requests other than the order took. The meal was delicious

Stopped in for lunch, first visit. Ordered shredded chicken & cheese enchiladas on blue corn tortillas (see photo) and two chile rellenos, both with green chile. Really enjoyed them both, but considered the enchiladas a little better, as the rellenos have American cheese I believe. But the rellenos did strike a nice balance between crispy and soft, and weren't too eggy. They warn the chile & salsas are hot, and let you sample before committing (which is probably smart for first-time visitors). We found them spicy, but tolerable, and we favored the green chile. Happy to return. Would give 4.5 stars if possible. Great service.

We have been dining at Papa Felipe’s for 43 years. It is our restaurant for excellent Mexican Food and Service. Last night, Esther waited on us. If I wasn’t retired I would have tried to hire her on the spot. She was EXCELLENT in every way. Her positive attitude and approach to people. The way she took very careful care to make sure each person was ordering exactly what they wanted. Not just my group but every table she attended. She was most efficient in getting the food to the table with as little wait as possible. She continued to check that everything was served correctly and quickly. I watched her very quick pace between her tables and the kitchen. I observed the very nice way she interacted with other staff. I compliment Papas for hiring such quality people. Esther is a STAR.

Recently I decided to venture out and try Papa Felipe’s. I must say I was pleasantly impressed with the quality of the food. My only complaint is the chips that come with the salsa are extremely hard almost worse than stale chips. I thought it might have been just a bad batch or day but I’ve returned several times despite the hard chips for the food. And each time the chips are too hard for my liking. The service was pretty good even considering how busy they can get. All in all great experience. Just beware of the extra hard chips. Otherwise I’d give this place 5 stars.

The atmosphere and decor are great. While we didn’t sit at the bar, it certainly looks inviting! Like a spacious place to relax with ambient lighting and a great bar selection. The menu is extensive, the food was good. We loved that the cocktails menu is placed front and center!! What a selection! We prefer the size and meat portions of Monroe’s chimichangas, but PF’s was good. The caldo de albóndigas was filling, and the broth and meatballs and cilantro was good. I sent the side of “sticky” rice back since it wasn’t hot; server returned with a much better serving. Sopapillas were excellent! Service was no-nonsense and efficient! Hadn’t been here in 15 years, but we will return.

We've been enjoying our Papa Felipe's meals for a lot, a lot, of years. We love it. Every once in awhile something special happens . . . and that's what happened last time we visited for dinner. We hit the jackpot and our server was Esther . . . best service we've ever had. Hope she's there next time we come in which, believe me, won't be too long. Go ESTHER!!

The best Mexican food I've ever had!! Our server Mitch was very friendly especially since we came in a little close to closing (I'm sorry!!) Brought us free samples of different sauces and extra sopapillas they had in the kitchen for no charge! He deserves a promotion, a raise, something because he was AWESOME!!

Good value for drinks and food. Amazing menu with a wide selection of dishes. The service is good. Their sopas are hit and miss. Sometimes in the past there was too much salt in the entree. I think they have toned this back a bit.

They are back! Stopped going during the pandemic, as the food did not seem as good as before. Went last night and they are back. My favorite place to eat. Perfection. Fast service, great food, nice people. Brandon was our server and he was attentive and very nice. We will be going back soon.

The food was not bad at all… sopapillas where the best thing we had…prices were also good. Very poor restroom conditions! Smelled bad, needed cleaning and needs renovation… the walls are rotten back there if you look down!

The food here is great and it was delicious! The service sucked. The waitress we got rushed us and made us pay our bill right away. We had just got our food. Then, after the other waitresses couldn't be bothered to check on us because we "paid" already. You are better off just doing take out or ordering from Doordash. Lynette was our waitress, if you get her ask for a different area. Our food took forever to come out and there were people who came after us that got their food before us. Some Father's day celebration we had when we decided to eat here. Never again just take out from now on.

Papa Felipe's has a special place in my heart. They have been our go-to cater because the prices are affordable and the food is incredible. Trini and her team do amazing at making sure everyone is served and taken care of at your events. That being said, the restaurant is also great, a good place to go for a quick bite since service is fast and efficient. Food never disappoints and the staff is nice and friendly.

Delicious food, margaritas, and warm cozy atmosphere. The Chile isn't too spicy but definitely has flavor and the servers are attentive. Recommend this place if you're craving some good Mexican food!

We recently moved here and wanted real Mexican food. Papa Felipe's was highly recommended and it did not fail. I have had some great Mexican food but this was above and beyond the best. It tastes just like homemade, which it is! The best part was the service. Esther was exceptional with impeccable customer service. We will go back again because of Esther..... And the food!

Had ants all over table and honey jar that was on table. Informed server of ants on honey and shown the ants. Took honey brought another and said will inform owner to spray with ants still on table. Must be used to have ants running around on table. We watched as the ants seemed to be in races against each other on the wall and table. Food mediocre. Steak tough. Food bland. Potatoes wierd. Not going back. Go but heed warning ⚠️

Didn't like their combination Enchiladas. Chili was not spicy "hot" like they said. Overall I'm never going there again. I spent $39.00 for one person. Too pricey.

Papa Felipe's got really good Mexican food. Right now you cannot dine in but you can call ahead in order a meal. They also have delivery service. They are using Uber Eats, doordash and GrubHub for their delivery service. But like I said in the beginning they have really good Mexican food. I've been eating with Papa phillipe's for several years. I always enjoy the food at Papa Felipe's. I will go back.

We ordered food to-go since covid has caused them to close indoor dining. It was TERRIBLE. The sopapillas were not edible, they didn't even look like sopapillas. The enchiladas didn't look appetizing at all. And on the online menu we selected the combination platter which states on the online menu AND receipt it's THREE entrees of TWO rellenos and we were only given three rellenos that were burnt. We returned the food and were told we would be refunded (nearly a $100 order with our generous tip). We ordered on 12/28/2020 and it's now 1/8/2021 and we still have not received our refund from the company. I called on 1/4/2021 and they said they would call their processing company and let me know of any updates. Haven't heard once from them. So now I have to go in and dispute the charge with my bank. Super frustrated. Will never return and never recommend. This has been the biggest headache.

I have been to Papa Felipe's many times over the years. The food has always been good. It's just a little further away so I don't visit as much as other spots. The other night when my go to was closed I placed an order here and the food was great as always. But the relleno was fantastic! Nice and spicy with a great taste, man they hit it out of the park. Well done! I'll have to check back again when I'm in the mood for rellenos!

Pandemic or not, why is it that they always screw up my order... It's as if they are dropping the ball in the worst way... ordered online, said it would be ready in 20 minutes, showed up 25 minutes later and still had to wait for another 15 minutes in a crowded lobby with others waiting for their food. I ordered a chimichanga plate, smothered in Christmas, the girl at the front tells me to sign the receipt before I received my food to confirm that my order was correct, then when I point out that there is no Chile smothered on top she said they put it inside. Well when I get home there's no Chile to be found. It's ridiculous how poor the service has gotten lately. Until they get better about their service I do not recommend this place...

Just had a pick-up order. Chile Rellenos and Big Burrito... amazing! Refritos were a bit undercooked and chalky... the salsa container wasn’t closed completely... but we were able to salvage some of it. The salsa is the best! I don’t eat rellenos anywhere else.

My favorite local place! Papa Felipe's serves excellent New Mexican food. Both the red and green chile are delicious! The servings are very generous. I always order the Plato Grande when I have family or friends coming over and I don't want to cook :) Also, the owner has always been nice to me. I feel like family when I walk in!

My first and last visit. I ordered online for pick up. Order placed at 12:27 and email confirmation said would be ready approximately 12:52. Arrived at 12:47 and finally got the order at 1:03. They had one person running the register, seating arriving dine in customers, taking orders for walk in orders, and processing takeout orders. UNSATISFACTORY, there should have been at least two people to do these jobs. Now will talk about the food. Ordered pasole. I have lived in NM my whole life and this is the first time I ever was served posole without red chile in it. So basically, I got VERY salty corn and pork soup. The Sopapillas were very small as compared to most other restaurants. Finally the only good thing about the order, the green chile was very tasty, just glad I ordered it to go on something I was fixing for supper.

Lacitia was our waitress! She was absolutely amazing. We are from the south and the food here is completely different. We are very picky eaters. She was wonderful. Our server was awesome! He was very accommodating and even gave us samples before we ordered. That food was good if you truly like authentic Mexican food. This is an update. Dine in this place has always been phenomenal, the servers the food, the owner. Recently ordered through grubhub, it was cold but I can't place that on Papa's. But the sides, the portions, the flavor just was not there. Not sure if I will try again sometime or takeout, or wait until we can dine in. Because, again, never had an issue with dine in and there was always leftovers.
