I’m so disappointed w my visit today. It took 45min for the food to get to our table, we got there when a rush of people were leaving. Even when it’s been busy before, our food took 20min at most. The fish tacos used to be amazing here. It was a perfect balance of flavors. Never waited this long at Don Choche to get fish tacos that look like they’re from a school cafeteria. I don’t know what happened but this is not the Don Choche I’m used too. I’m so sad, I loved this place. They used to give you chips while you waited, not anymore. The salsa wasn’t spicy at all! Which is uncommon for this place. The waitress said the cook was out of town but c’mon. There were flies everywhere inside the restaurant, so disgusting. You have to swat them away while you eat. No bug zappers anywhere. There were tables outside w dirty dishes just sitting in the sun and a swarm of flies all over it. Before and after pics of the fish tacos.

This is hands down my new favorite place!!!!❤❤❤The food and drinks were excellent and the pineapple salsa is to DIE for! Super cute inside and out. Great shaded patio area. Tucked into Los Ranchos. Can't wait to go back!

First visit to Don Choche and will definitely not be the last. Great food! Love their fried fish tacos and enchilada plate. Need to go back to try all the other options.

I can't wait to go back. I had the barbacoa tacos but I will be getting the Birra tacos next time I go. It's a nice little hole in the wall. The staff was on top of things, we didn't have to wait long for our order. The drinks we ordered were huge. definitely a must try.

Wow. Just WOW! This place is such a hidden gem! Located in Los Ranchos right on 4th, Don Choche is a spot you absolutely can't afford to miss if you love tacos and beer and good vibes. The salsa bar is also something you shouldn't dare skip out on. These salsas are so incredibly packed full of flavor that they leave you going back for more. The restaurant has a great selection of tacos and Mexican beers as well as a fantastic breakfast selection and great Mexican plates like Gorditas? Tostadas and Enchiladas. We had the fish tacos plate and the huevos Rancheros and we had already decided before we finished that this is one of our favorite new places.

Visit Date: 08/12/23 THE GOOD: Loved the atmosphere! And they def had the best old school Mexican jams playing! It felt like there was a señora cleaning on a Saturday morning lol The decor was typical of any Mexican restaurant, cute patio! As for the food, I really enjoyed their carnitas tacos! Not too greasy, simple with cebolla y cilantro. They also had a great selection at their self serve salsa bar. THE REST: My friend and I liked everything for the most part but were surprised at some of their menu items. There wasn’t any salsa verde options for their enchiladas, just NM Green Chile. Had hoped for a Mexican sauce (Mole, guajillo, tomatillo, árbol) in any of their dishes but they only offer sauces made with New Mexico red or green chile. Their tacos de chicharrón were super spicy, which I love, but they came with lettuce, tomato and bell peppers…which is super odd. I’ve never been served lettuce and tomato or bell peppers on any chicharrón dish. But a plus side: they did offer a Mexican style salsa verde option for the chicharrones, not just their New Mexico green chile chicharrones. My friend’s tacos de carnitas had yellow cheese on them, again, very strange for an authentic Mexican street taco and not consistent with how they served me my carnitas tacos 🤔 Overall, I’d come back to try other tacos and when I’m in the mood for New Mexico style enchiladas, the ones here sound good! THINGS TO NOTE: there is no table side service. You order at the counter, you get a number, you go pick a table and your food is brought out to you. Almost everything here is self serv. They only offer beer, wine and wine based margaritas, no liquor. I’d consider this 50/50 Mexican and New Mexican Cuisine.

03/11/2022 First time visiting, a little hole-in-the-wall I ordered the Carne Avadado plate$14.00 Excellent 👌 food quality, we'll seasoned, H.U.G.E plates🍽️ twice the size of regular restaurant plates. Carne Avadado was very tender & we'll seasoned (not dried out, or over-cooked, and hard to chew) like most restaurants. This restaurant has FRESH ingredients and also have a variety of salsas too choose from. (self-served) with a basket of complimentary blue-corn 💙 and regular chips. Although prices are a bit pricey but the waiter service's and the quality of the food is superb👍 we'll worth the 💰 money 💲 After my dine-in, experience, I ordered a to-go take-out green chili stew 🍲$11.00 and a menudo $11.00 both choices go-hard😁 served EVERY DAY, until 07:00pm cold bottle's of 🍻 beer🍺 & 🍹🍸Closed on Mondays I ordered the Carne Avadado plate and my friend ordered the huge sized Tostitos rolls with meat $11.00 can't wait until spring to sit🪑o outside under the tables with over head covers. FIVE⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Star Rating✨

The drinks were delicious, and I love the atmosphere on Don Choche's patio. I had a generous, tasty michelada and my kids enjoyed the horchata. The tacos, in general, left much to be desired for the price. The carnitas were a bit on the bland side, and I don't understand why the adovada and green chile brisket tacos came covered in lettuce and tomato rather than the traditional cilantro and onion. I did enjoy the variety of salsas available, though the adovada was spicy enough on its own. The birria was also quite spicy. The carne asada was overcooked and dry.

Seriously mine and my husbands new favorite place! You have to try the birria tacos, they are the best in town. My new favorite addiction. Really friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The Michaladas are also killer. Such a hidden Gem!

This place is my favorite taco place in Albuquerque. Their molcajetes are awesome! You can have pick up to three meats and it enough food for 2-3 persons. Their self serve salsa bar is crazy good! Definitely a five star if you are a taco lover.

Ate here twice in 3 days visiting Albuquerque. The tacos are spectacular and I also enjoyed the relleno, enchilada and tamale combo plate. Fried fish taco was spectacular and al pastor was amazing.

Oh sweet baby Jesus. This is my new favorite spot in Albuquerque. The food was AMAZING! Flavorful, spicy, filling, delicious, authentic! The best place I have been in Albuquerque, hands down! This is a must eat. The fish tacos were to die for. Our group debated on going right back for seconds.

They have birria tacos, asada fries , burgers, street tacos and more. Unfortunately, fountain drinks were out of order. The food was good, salsas were bomb. Family friendly place, lots of seating.
