food was outstanding. we cannot get this type of food back east. service was on point. salsa was the best ever. next time we visit, this will be our first stop😋

Wonderful service, conversation, and of course excellent tacos with shredded beef nachos! The shredded beef was layered perfectly with alternate layers of beef, cheese, and chips! The tacos had an excellent helping of shredded beef and a first where the shells stayed intact and not soggy! Loved the presentation too on the tacos!

This place is located in the corner amongst other businesses and a bit hidden but I found it on google. We’ve been here I want to say a total of 5x and will keep coming back. The food is always good and filling. Food tastes fresh and made with love. I say that to say basically tastes like a home cooked meal… delicious! The salsa and chips, obsessed. Haha… That salsa is really good! I usually get enchiladas (with or without meat), my family usually gets pozole, tacos, and ceviche. We love it! Service is fast and quick, everyone we’ve come in contact with that works here is very nice. Prices are reasonable, definitely try it out for yourself! (The pic, the garnish for the pozole weren’t provided yet but came with cilantro, cabbage, onions & lime).

Oh My God I have not had this good of food in a long time! Growing up 30 miles north of the Mexican border, I got really spoiled with the delicious homemade food at my friends house. Husband had the nachos yesterday, and since then he is in stomach pain. Cheese was not shredded of and kind,it all the cheese substance was runny. He will be going to his DR'S office and possibly to URGENT CARE. Sad to say everyone that works there are so very nice,polite. But food should be considered. Basole?Was very good,no problems with that food item. Portions of 32oz was very fair,and very delicious for me. I will purchase again.

Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I was surprised to find I was the only one there given how good my meal was. The waiter and cook were friendly and the food was amazing. I don’t know why there are lines at the other two closest restaurants when these guys are serving up great breakfast burritos and Huevos rancheros. I plan to get back to try their dinner menu before I leave town, if not then on the next visit.

Very good waiter Luis the food was good I’ve had better. the price on the menu differ from the ticket horribly expensive for 3 ppl and we shared a plate. It was 60 dollars. Never go there again never. They charged me for onions on the enchilada plate they charged us for salsa for the tacos. I was shocked at the price.

A hidden gem in Rio Rancho!!! Food:. Best Mexican food we've had in ages! So much flavor, not just heat but flavor! The Green Chile has perfect flavor and the Red is colorful and super tasty. The fresh homemade chips and salsa was practically a meal itself. The vegetarian burrito had fresh grilled vegetables with tons of flavor! This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. Service: Very friendly and professional staff, we felt very welcome. We waited less than 10 minutes for our meals and plenty of drink refills without having to ask. Atmosphere: Simple and very colorful. We've never seen such a clean restaurant either. The cleanliness is the first thing we noticed. Music volume was just right for a relaxing meal and the booth seating was so comfy.

We love the crunchy tacos, fajitas, and shrimp cocktail. We come here pretty regularly and the food is just consistently great.

If you're looking for REAL, AUTHENTIC Mexican food (not New Mexican), this is the place! A hidden gem. Staff is super nice and extremely attentive. The food is from scratch and fantastic.

First time eating here and the food was amazing. I had the Birria tacos and my boyfriend had some rellenos and chicken tacos. The birria was perfect and not too greasy. The salsa they bring when you first sit down is so good. Lots of flavor and pretty spicy. It comes with flour tortilla chips as well which is nice a fluffy. Will be coming back.

Very tasty food, and great,attentive staff. We will definitely be returning to sample more of the variety of choices on the menu. We liked the taste of the salsa and fresh chips. We also thought the green chili had a great flavor while not being overly spicy, allowing us to really taste it all. Lots of choices, something for almost anyone.

Visit Date: 08/15/23 THE GOOD: Excellent service! I was greeted in Spanish and was spoken to in Spanish the whole time, which always feels welcoming. The server also spoke English to other patrons, so Spanish is not a requirement to eat here. But it was a welcome surprise! Loved the chips and salsa for the table! THE REST: It was def better than most New Mexican food I’ve had, but it was 💯 New Mexican 😭 I was expecting Mexican cuisine here. I ordered one of their specials that comes with 1 taco, 1 tamal and 1 enchilada. They were out of tamales for the week (they’re made weekly depending on how fast they run out). I substituted the tamal with a Chile relleno. The chile relleno wasn’t super thick, but still more on the “breaded” side and no fluffy egg, which is def a NM style of making chiles rellenos. The enchilada sauce was ok. It was a New Mexico red chile. My taco de asada came with lettuce and tomato instead of cebolla y cilantro. The meat was slightly under cooked and it was mostly lettuce and tomato. Very surprised that this isn’t advertised as a New Mexican restaurant. Overall, not bad if you like New Mexican food.

We stumbled upon this family owned restaurant and were highly impressed! Everything was delicious and flavorful. We had chile relleno plate and carne asada and birria tacos and they all were equally delicious! I’m so glad we found this authentic Mexican restaurant in Rio Rancho. We definitely will be returning. My pics don’t do this amazing food justice.

First time. Food was great. I only wish that the salsa was thicker. Everything tasted very good and the staff was wonderful.

I get takeout from El Agave somewhat regularly. Their tacos are fantastic, and my wife usually wants a taco salad. Taco salad isn’t on the menu, but they always accommodate and my wife loves it. Their salsa is always wonderful; I usually get a big container and save for later. Great family owned restaurant. Highly recommended

This restaurant needs to update their online menu prices... I ordered from the online menu which stated Taco Tuesday special was $14.99 and included a drink.. when I picked up my order I found that The price had increased by $1 and there was no drink included. Other than that .... the food was great.

My wife found this diamond in the rough of a restaurant in Rio Rancho, and believe me when I say that. I ordered the posole on a rainy day and it was delicious. So far the best I've had here in NM. My wife & daughter had the crispy taco plate and even that was good. No burnt tortilla shells here like other places. Beans & rice were authentic home made. So Gracias El Agave we definitely will be back to try the rest.

Very tasty and no wait on a Sunday afternoon! The salsa was amazing!

We just moved to Rio rancho and we wanted a new, authentic New/Mexican food restaurant. We found the hidden gem. We tried Hot Tamales nearby and we just weren't impressed at all. HOWEVER, the food here at El Agave is phenomenal. The food and service never disappoints. We've been here about 5 times already and it's consistent every time. Wonderful food and service. I can't recommend this place enough.

My fiancé and I saw this place one day and said let’s try it. So we did and we were definitely very satisfied and impressed. We will be going again soon to show the rest of the family what this place is about. The food was delicious and the prices were fair and reasonable and the service was fast, also the customer service was excellent! 5 star and more!!!

We eat here occasionally because it’s close to home and very good. I like the beans and salsa the best.
