The zoo itself was very nice. We found it to be clean and well maintained. The lady inside the office, right inside the entrance that sold us our membership ,was amazing and very informative. Our son had a blast getting to run around and seeing all the animals. The food was surprisingly good….our 6 year old said it was the best pizza he has ever had. Unfortunately there are many improvements that need to happen to earn anything more than 3 stars. The staff were all too busy on cell phones to help anyone. While trying to let my son ride the carousel, we were told to go to the cone shop to buy tickets…. There was no one there and a line of angry parents had formed with the employee just hanging out in the cafe with her friends… we went into the cafe and asked if we could buy tickets and we were bounced around between them saying I can’t but she can until my wife lost her cool and all of a sudden we were able to purchase tickets in there after all…. A LOT of the exhibits were either closed , under construction, or the animals were just missing??? Speaking of construction, there is A-LOT of very loud construction going on very close to some of the attractions. Having a son with sensory issues, the noise really got to him. The facility is too nice for a trip to end on a bad note due to lazy and undertrained staff. I really hope these issues can be addressed sooner than later.

This is a wonderful place to spend a few hours with your friends or family. This zoo has standard draws: elephants, monkeys, zebras, and flamingos.  So your average child will be very happy visiting. I really enjoyed the African aviary--the creaky wooden bridge to walk in on was a little bit of adventure, too! The amphibian exhibit has a lot of activity, much in small tanks. It's definitely worth checking out. The hippo habitat was a crowd pleaser. We arrived during play time. This is absolutely the best time! The hippos were playing with a ball, splashing around their habitat. There is an expansion project in progress right now: Australia experience.  I look forward to seeing how that turns out. A large section of the park is committed to this. If you are visiting Albuquerque, consider spending some time here.

Inexpensive zoo with minimal public transportation, especially on weekends. Since Albuquerque gets so hot, many animals are hiding during the day or they are sitting to stay cool. Might be a better experience when the weather cools down . Lots of construction still going on/ future expansion. Hopefully some of the animals get bigger enclosures. A good place to kill a couple hours. Many bathrooms throughout the zoo. Discount for locals.

I just love animals and zoos, so maybe I'm a bit biased. But they are doing tons of work here to make the place better. The Asia area is nice. Plenty of parking is available, entry is simple, I bought my tickets online and they scanned the QR codes at the gate, easy as that. Shops are nice and there's plenty to do in the zoo, you'll have fun!

Felt awful for the polar bear, it was 99° F outside and he was panting in the sun, he had a small pile of ice cubes on the lower area but that is not nearly enough, he should have something like the penguins, indoors, lots of water, and plentiful of ice. The "red eye tree frog" enclosure is not labeled correctly, those are whites tree frogs in that enclosure not red eyes. A few of the animals were missing limbs but Im assuming they're rescues which I love rescues. A lot of the animals seem well taken care of, except the polar bear. I really enjoyed this zoo, they just need to adjust things. A lot of the animals seem very well taken care of, the canines we're playing. Also, some visitors were teasing the cheetahs, that's not nice Don't tease any of the animals... The park was clean and the bathroom. The gift shop needs more adult merchandise it's mostly small children stuff. The staff is very nice.

Okay I love flowers so finding this place was a treat. I spent 2-3 hours here just walking around and enjoying all the pathways, plants, and architecture. The children’s fantasy garden was a wonderful treat and worth seeing even if you’re not there with children. 😁. Take your time and explore, definitely worth your time.

We love our zoo and aquarium! It’s so lucky we have a such beautiful zoo that we can visit every other week!! The baby hippo is the newest addition!! We’re able to see it couple days ago!! It’s so cute, wish we could hug it. The penguins chill is always the best! One of the penguins would able to recognize stuffed animal penguin when we bring it! We can’t wait to see Australia area when they finish. (One thing was sad to see that they took the train out the zoo. )

Family fun. Sunday had perfect weather partly cloudy and a nice breeze all day. My wife and boys enjoyed our time there. Although some exhibits were still under construction.

Went during a lot of construction, guess they're planning a whole new area. Also it was downpouring. The few workers I talked to were helpful and informative on where some relocations were and general animal questions. Very cool lizard/reptile/amphibian exhibits! The baby hippo was great to see!

Awesome Zoo!!! We really enjoyed the penguins, polar bears and the gorillas. Well laid out park, some construction going on and a few exhibits closed. Most of the animals were out though!!! Great time with the family

First day getting back to the zoo after it closed for a couple months. It was surprisingly really nice, the animals were active and you could tell they were really happy to see more people. They did awesome setting up the park for covid safe. There wasn't a lot of people and it was nice to visit the zoo without the crowds. One thing I wish I would have seen more of the workers out wiping down all the arm rails. Overall it was a really good experience thank you 🦁🐯🐺🦓🦏🐒🦒🐢🐗

Born and raised in ABQ. My parents used to take us as little ones. Even though the Zoo still looks the same, the experience is always so much fun and great! Excellent way to get a good walk in, cute animals and a nice grass area for the kids to run and have lunch. Memories are created here and we wouldn't want it any other way!

Nice zoo, many of the animals were sleeping 🤭 but was able to see many of them. Others were hidden. The zoo is big like 2 hours when coming with kids and family, when alone it's like 1hour 30 min

I was born in Albuquerque over 60 years ago, and visit the city once or twice a year every year. I cannot believe I have never stopped at the zoo! It was a home run! We took the kids and the grandkids and had a great day! I now have it on the list of “must do“ while in Albuquerque. Thank you Albuquerque bio park!

This zoo offers a range of experiences that all ages can enjoy. Many habitats feature windows below deck to get an up-close-and-personal experience with wild animals, like polar bears and gorillas. For an additional cost, visitors can ride an exotic animal-themed carousel or cruise the lake on a 4-person paddle boat. The terrain is smooth and easy to navigate, making it very accessible. I only saw one location where service dog access was restricted (the windows to the big cats).

We had a great time at the zoo today. I haven't been to the alb zoo in years and the animals habitats could be a bit nicer like they use to be,meaning the grass and trees could be trimmed up a bit in certain ones and other ones could use some grass and the elephants were locked away while it was warm, yes there was work going on but not in their habitat so I didn't understand why they had to be standing in just dirt when they could have been over on the grass and in the water but other than a few things with the habitats,it was a very nice day and we did have a great time so I do recommend going there if your ever in alb

This zoo is excellent. They have zebras, gorillas, elephants, hippos, rhinos, lions, tigers, fish, insects, reptiles, gardens and fish. Take your time visiting because it takes a good 2 hours to see the zoo and about 1.5 hours to view the botanical gardens and the insect displays. It's well worth the money. Locals get a discount on tickets out of Towner's pay full price. We paid 14.50 per person for the zoo and for the botanical gardens and insect displays as we were from another state.

Albuquerque Zoo is absolutely one of my all-time favorite zoo experiences. From start to finish it is wonderful. There is plenty of parking at the front so you don't have to worry about battling anyone for a good spot. There is a huge variety of animals and educational opportunities. The penguin exhibit is breathtaking, such an awesome addition. So many animals on display and such awesome exhibits. Definitely a 10 out of 10 experience. I've been to quite a few zoos and always have taken my service dog with me. I will say I was a little shocked when I was not asked the two questions at the front. Especially considering that there are geese, swans and peacocks loose around the zoo. Since no one is checking the legitimacy of service dogs I would just be slightly concerned for the safety of other animals. Luckily we didn't see any random dogs in the zoo, but it's something the city should do better training on for the zoo location. Aside for some minor safety concerns in regards to ADA. There's truly is a wonderful Zoo to visit.

Went for my son's birthday, had a great time. Asia part of the zoo was closed for remodeling so we didn't get to see the elephants, lions, and tigers. They do serve beer but it's over $12 😳 also they rent Wheelchairs for $10. The best part was being able to see the baby orangutan and gorilla!

The first time I visited was April 2009, when the animals and grounds were much happier and more beautiful. The second time was December 2023. The animals seemed forlorn this year. Cages seemed smaller. The atmosphere seemed so sad. Very few animals were out. The rhinos ribbed showed, and I felt concerned the animals were underfed. I saw no animal keepers and very little staff.

Albuquerque Zoo is by far the nicest zoo I've been to...from the layout, the staff, and the amazing animals. Can't wait to see the other area that they are working currently, all finished...the Asia are is amazing. I went on Christmas Eve, so not a wait or line and for the weather it surprised me on how many animals were out....I'm definitely going back in the summer. I would purchase tickets in advance if only you know its going to be busy. I highly recommend you checking it our at least once.

I have been to a lot of zoos around the country and a few zoos overseas and Albuquerque zoo is definitely still one of my favorites. yeah I'm born here and may have a slight bias, but this place really does feel natural and spacious. The elephant exhibit is amazing. there are bats and koalas and a really nice park that you can sit and have a picnic in. there's even a place that sells beer! The big cat walk is so cool and now there are penguins! I love the ABQ bio park I am so glad it is open again and I definitely recommend people coming here to have a very enjoyable time

Lousy selection of animals. Half the animals weren't even on display. The train ride "safari" is a joke and ridiculously slow. The employee at the touching aquarium was rude and unnecessarily aggressive to the point of spread-eagling herself at the doorway to block people.

I love our zoo. I have been to big city zoo's and it really makes me appreciate ours. The animals are beautiful and active. Its spacious and the scenery is gorgeous! I always recommend our zoo first to visitors. I am really sad they took the train out of the zoo though! That was a highlight for our children every visit. I do love the new penguin exhibit and crocodiles. Beautifully built.

Very fun! I really enjoyed this trip to the zoo. There seemed to be a lot of enrichment for the animals around, and I really enjoyed some of them engaging with each other in cute ways. My favorite is probably the Hippo exhibit, where one hippo in particular loves playing around with a ball. My only qualm is it seemed dastardly hot for some animal species, like the polar bear. Wish the poor guy could be brought a tub of ice, or even brought inside during peak hot hours during the day to cool off!

I've been to my fair share of zoos and this one was something special. It was just the right length for my family (a couple of hours) with a wide variety of animals in a straight forward route. The enclosures for the animals seemed adequate and a number of the animals were active and having fun playing. Of note, the mountain lioness likes to hang out above the walkway and is quite startling. The baby hippo was also adorable. Highly recommended.

Absolutely LOVED our first time here! It was such a beautifully kept park. Really nice set up, with clear signs for directions/attractions, and the animals had beautiful surroundings. :) We rushed through as we only had 2 hours before they closed, and wanted to rush to the aquarium afterwards. We did catch MOST of the animals sleeping, but we still enjoyed the time nonetheless and would recommend to everyone!

The zoo is a always a great experience. The new penguin habitat is a must see! I am looking forward to the renovations they are making. Most of the construction is not too disruptive. The most disruptive part has been the poor sick monkeys they have been removed from display. I recommend getting a behind the scenes tour they are worth it!

Beautiful, good layout, and getting better! We did the reservation of tickets online with the 9am slot. Not sure if we had to do that, but we did. I am military so with that discount we paid $47.50 for 2 adults and 3 kids. We have been to tons of museums, and the is cheap!! We were the first in line and the check in was simple. They scanned my ticket on my phone and my daughter was the first one in!!! There is an large map and you can scan a QR code to follow on the website. I really think they could add more info in the site. I love seeing how old an animal is, what is weighs, what it eats, etc. they could add unlimited info, but there really is t much to read :-( The exhibits were clean and large for the animals. We were early and kind of disappointed that some enclosures were still being cleaned so the animals weren’t out. Specifically the Giraffes. There were humans in the enclosures so the animals weren’t. That kind of sucked. The penguin exhibit was amazing. I have never seen one as nice as it. This is a must visit zoo!!!

The zoo is always a fun place to visit. There’s a gift shop and cafe. I’ve come to this zoo for years and years with my family and I do recommend it. If you’re gonna visit more than a couple times in a year, it might be best to get the annual passes. The only complaint was we came early (with dozens of other families) to try to beat some of the heat but many of the animals were still out away and the employees were still cleaning and feeding and not ready for people and we were told to come back later. Other than that, fun place to visit. 🦓 🦏 🐫 🦍 🦧

This is always a beautiful place to visit. When we went a couple of days ago, it was Matilda the hippopotamus' first birthday. The zoo had volunteers handing out coloring pages and educating visitors about how they are endangered in the wild and hunted for their tusks in much the same way as elephants. We got to have a great time looking at the reptile, bird, and penguin exhibits. It was too hot for us to do many of the outdoor attractions and most of the animals were inside staying out of the heat as well. We also fed some ducks, geese, and peacocks food at the duck pond area. My daughter and I made some new friends. Tickets for out of town visitors are $14.50 and New Mexico residents pay less ($10) for an adult ticket. Annual memberships are the most cost effective if you plan to visit often and being part of the zoological society also gives discounts at various other locations across the country. You can order tickets ahead of time and have them sent to your mobile device, but during the week, it's not that busy. I recommend this as a fun, family-friendly way to spend time together. It's worth visiting multiple times; we go almost every time we are in town..

Very family/social oriented! The park has an amazing aesthetic and has a variety of different amazing and interesting animals ranging from monkeys all the way to birds and reptiles. Has a large variety of different animal species all in accurate locations in the park. I would 10/10 recommend for a nice sunny weekend day!

The family and I were looking for something to do and chose ABQ biopark Zoo. It was really amazing we start off with the flamingos headed in towards the penguin chill. After that checked out some birds and the rest of the animals. This is the place to make happy memories with family & friends.

We've been coming here for years and it's a nice outing each time, The park has seen some upgrades with some currently in progress, which is nice to see. The animals appear healthy and well taken care of. There's a brand new elephant viewing area and even an indoor penguin exhibit. If I had any complaints, it would be the main cafe in the middle of the park. It's not as clean as it could be and the cost is quite high for simple meal items. There is a shaded grass area though, so just pack your own food to save some money. Speaking of saving money, get on the bio park website and grab the yearly pass. Then you can visit as often as you want for a year. The pass also covers the Botanical gardens and aquarium to boot. The zoo itself does get a bit tight during busy times. We made the mistake of coming during spring break and it's way too many people. You feel like you're getting herded along since there are people waiting to get the best spot to look at animals, and with all the strollers around... Yeah, if you can manage it, go when the kiddos are in school. All in all, it's still a nice outing. Definitely worth visiting.

Went for a company event, so the zoo was super packed. The animals were mostly sleeping, but well kept. The glass on some exhibits (polar bear, penguins) was so dirty you had a hard time seeing in some places, it could use a cleaning. There was some construction areas and areas were no animals were in the exhibit. The layout is nice and easy to go around without missing spots. The center of the zoo where the cafes are, is nice for a sit down, but could use more seating in the grass. Lots of people sitting on the grass but there are ducks and geese that poop there. The line for the cafe was ridiculously long at around 1pm. If you’re in Albuquerque and have kids, it’s worth a visit.

This was a pretty nice zoo. The New Mexico desert aesthetic is really nice and they kept that up throughout the zoo. It's a little on the small side, and it gets Really Hot, but they designed it to offer an okay amount of shade cover over walk ways and it has free covered parking which is GREAT! I'd definitely recommend taking a sun umbrella and/or going first thing in the morning during warm months. I don't I would pay to come to JUST the zoo, but they make it easy to bundle with the botanical gardens and the aquarium which makes for a nice 5 hours or so of entertainment (more if you get lunch in between or stop for dippin dots etc). Side note- the main parking lot, or at least what Google maps THINKS is the parking lot, is under construction so you're on your own to wiggle around and find the entrance.

There were plenty of shaded areas, water fountains, and restrooms throughout the park, making it convenient for visitors of all ages. On the positive side, the zoo’s location was convenient and easy to find. The ticket prices were reasonable, making it a budget-friendly option for families. I appreciated the variety of animal species on display, especially the native ones that showcased the region’s wildlife diversity. However, I couldn’t help but notice some issues with the zoo’s facilities and overall maintenance. Some enclosures appeared to be outdated and in need of renovation, which seemed less than ideal for the animals’ well-being. Additionally, there were a few exhibits where animals seemed visibly stressed or uninterested, raising concerns about their care and enrichment. Probably not worth a return trip but I believe it is worth seeing for first time visitors.

The zoo is well worth the visit. We got tickets for both the zoo and aquarium. Probably could have skipped the aquarium. The zoo enclosures were well designed and the animals looked quite healthy and happy. The penguin exhibit is right in the center of the zoo, and very well designed. Cool to see them jump in the water and swimming all around the tank. The only downside to the place was the Asia area was mostly closed and under construction. Also several glass windows need cleaning. Specifically the polar bear exhibit and the penguin exhibit. The baby orangutan 🦧 and baby gorillas a long with the Snow leopard were our favorites.

This zoo was a perfect afternoon getaway for us. It is very well maintained and offers lots of restrooms. We arrived right after a hail storm, close to closing time, so some of the animals were in for the evening. The staff were extremely friendly and answered all our questions; as I think we were the only people left walking around. I will definitely be back.

We're members of our local zoo which has reciprocal benefits with ABQ BioPark Zoo. Unfortunately, the ticket person didn't understand that the name of the zoo was not the same as the name of the city it's in. He told us that our zoo was not listed but fortunately some ABQ members behind us graciously brought us in as their guests today. ABQ BioPark is small so it's really only accessible by foot or wheelchair/scooter. There is no train or bus tour. There's no need for them and the paths are too small anyway. I didn't see many areas for visitors to rest. I would have liked to see more benches throughout the park. There are also no mirrors in the bathrooms I used, which I found a bit odd. I specifically went into the restroom to look at a scrape on my face from hitting a branch by accident. It was a shame I couldn't properly address my minor injury because of that. Most of the concession stands were also not open. I saw maybe one education session listed for the day. Besides those little hiccups, we enjoyed meeting all of the zoo inhabitants. We came at opening so most of the animals were active. The polar bears and tiger didn't make an appearance while we were visiting but we got to interact with all of the others. The chimps were especially energetic and tried to play with us on the other side of the enclosure. Unfortunately, the lions have been moved to a new zoo. As far as specimens go, I do feel like this zoo does lack in variety but it's very apparent that they care about all of their charges. All of the enclosures were clean, water and food bowls were full, the reptiles seemed to be adequately moist, etc. I felt like I was able to safely get close to all of the animals. I believe in ABQ BioPark Zoo and their mission. They are just capable of being better. There is quite a bit of construction so maybe my complaints are unjustified.

They take care such good care of animals and people who attend are very respectful of them and other people. I didn't get to see some of the big felines bc of the weather I'm assuming, but it was a great experience. I had not been to a zoo in many years and this one surpassed my expectations. We went with a group of local friends and family and were very thrilled to get to spend time with these amazing animals. The only bad thing about it is that the options for food are really not that great, we ate elsewhere. If they had that in place with good value and quality they'd had a ton more people visiting for sure. Hopefully, they make improvements

We bought the combination passes for the zoo, aquarium, and botanical gardens. Out of the three, I had the highest expectations of the zoo because I had heard so many wonderful things about it. Maybe it was a seasonal issue but I will say we were pretty disappointed by the large number of exhibits closed for renovations or some other reasons... I'm going to guess around 20 percent of the zoo or better. I could be off on that guess, but it was definitely quite a bit... With that being said, the zoo still had plenty to offer. The orangutan/tiger enclosure is the best one I've seen in a zoo... Very large and very well thought out.. The zoo wasn't as dynamic as I was expecting but I will say that the experience with the low cost is pretty good!! Pros: Very affordable! Definitely good bang for the buck! Cons: Many exhibits closed for renovations.

This zoo is absolutely worth the time or effort to see it. The exhibits are really good except the tiny amphibian area which is ridiculously tiny and hard to navigate. There are animals that even have their babies with them which was a huge hit with the children. The new Asia exhibit is open and neat. We just really enjoyed ourselves. We rented the two kid strollers at the front and they were so lightweight and easy to push. Made the trip around so easy. It was just a great time.

Small but make no mistake this zoo has it all and saves those feet from hurting. Very organized covid program that allows safe experience for all zoo guests of any age.

I like the ABQ zoo. It's really fun for the kids. My 2 year old LOVES the duck and fish pond. They have a playground as well which is really nice. I'm not sure when they started selling alcohol but they offer cocktails and beer now. Overall, it's a good time. The only complaint I have is that the elephants are always put away in the back of their enclosure. I haven't been able to see the elephants for years because of this and they're my favorite.

Went to the zoo early afternoon to just enjoy myself and relieve stress. Animals were resting, yet I'm so glad that I got to visit the Penguin Exhibit, see the cheetahs, hyaenas, camels, primates and walk the zoo, crowd-free. Have a fabulous visit♥️

The ABQ BioPark was wonderful! The grounds and animal enclosures were in great shape, the staff was VERY helpful and polite. Not all the animals were out and ready for visitors but overall it I had a delightful time! As always!

This is one of the best zoos I’ve been to! The zoo is SO clean and nice, the animals don’t look depressed. There is SO much to do and look at here. I love that they have the grassy area in the middle for you to picnic, and that they let you bring your own food! I would 100% recommend bringing your own food, as the zoo food was extremely over priced for the quality.

Great way to get outside for some socially-distanced fun despite the pandemic. Entry fees support the Biopark, the resident animals, and the conservation & educational programs in which the Biopark participates. Some of the indoor exhibits have reopened (penguins, reptiles) - staff are trying their best to observe limits of patrons allowed inside at one time. Those of us who are visiting need to remember to do our part by staying distanced from other patrons!

I visited Dec 30 of 2020. I was very impressed by the relatively new penguin exhibit. Great job. It would be excellent if they clean the glass (maybe add windshield wipers?). It was great to see the penguins underwater and see them diving. Other exhibits that were open were: lions, mountain lions, elephants, giraffes, gorillas, rhinos, zebras, flamingos, carybaras, warthog, birds, reptiles... Hipos, monkeys, and polar bears weren't out. It is $5.50 for seniors and kids 12 and under and $10 for adults. You must buy tickets online and must be a NM resident.

Awesome experience with the zoo! Getting there early we were the only ones there and got to see many of the animals getting out into their enclosure outdoors. The elephants came out to eat and one of the handlers was very happy to have answered a few questions. A few exhibits/sections or activities weren't available but that didn't detract from our experience getting to see some beautiful creatures and learn a bit about them as well.

Awsome city zoo in downtown Albuquerque. Due to covid, you must make a reservation, but worth the hassle because there are no crowds. The kids play area and merry-go-round are closed, but most of the animal exhibits are open.

  • 3/5 Dava D. 3 years ago on Google
Our time slot was at 1:30 and it wasn’t too crowded. The penguins were the best exhibit there. Unfortunately we were unable to see the majority of the other animals because they were napping. It was quite disappointing.

  • 5/5 Dandro G. 3 years ago on Google
I give this place 5 stars, not only because zoo's are important for kids to see animals they otherwise would never see, but because ABQ zoo tries their best to give the animals a good life within the zoo. They don't force the animals to be out when it's too cold for them, they have pretty big cages and the zookeepers are all very friendly. They are also very good with COVID precautions, with only allowing a certain number of people in a building at a time. If you want to go when there aren't a lot of people, go near the end of the day. Overall a very exciting experience. Please support the local zoo!

About 70% of the park was closed. They wont tell you this when you call though. Still charged full price. We went to do some girlscout badges and we werent able to complete even 1. Cause nearly everything was closed off. Even things that were open.. They would block all the viewing areas off by boarding up the plexiglass.. Which causes everyone to gather together in a small area to view the animals from the only spot they leave open. It seems VERY counter intuitive.. Wont go back until its actually open.

This zoo is big enough to take a half day trip and see it all or a full day if you like to read the signs. My two year old loves this place. The tram to the aquarium is fun too and doesn’t cost much. If you live nearby and have small kids, the membership is worth it.

Our Albuquerque zoo is one of the best I. The country. I’ve traveled around the US and visited many different zoos and aquariums and this one is amongst the best ! Even tho some attractions were closed due to Covid we still had a great time . I was surprised with all the renovations they have done to the place but I was a little surprised to see they got rid of the train rails ?? Does it means there will be no more train rides around the zoo?? We shall see

Me and my sons just went to the Albuquerque biopark we were turned away Because they say we are trying to get rid of cash And are no longer accepting it as a form of payment you now have to go online to purchase your tickets ahead of time. And we are also sold out it just so happens. I came with 2 free tickets to enter the zoo, they should have been able to gain me entry. This is about something bigger than just the zoo, this is about an implantable RFID chip that the government is going to want us to have to keep track of our medical records our social security cards our lives everything we do so they can target us with the correct ads and know our lives, that way there's transparency through all. As long as Albuquerque is involved in this type of Authoritarian type Of behaviour they will always get the reviews they deserve

It was a very large place. Make sure to wear comfy shoes. Animals were all so cute. I took a star cause it was hard to see them in cages. Emus had a flat area with no plants or any shade. The little Hippo, Penguins and the white bear were very playful when we visited. I just wished there were a bigger space for them to be able to run and swim.

Went to this zoo on New Year's eve and it wasn't crowded. Pretty easy to navigate, you can't get lost. Almost all the felines weren't out, but at least I was able to see the lions. Good variety of animals, and some areas are under construction to add even more sections.

One of the coolest zoo experiences I’ve ever had but there were limited exhibits open. First, there were around 10 other guests attending at the same time which made the experience better. But also, the animals in the exhibit seemed to be more interactive than any other zoo I’ve visited. Could it have been because of the lack of guests in the park? I’m not sure. As someone just visiting ABQ, the issue I had was most of the exhibits were closed. Water fountains turned off. Food spots were also closed. There was not a lot to see as a lot of the animals were not in their exhibits. Definitely suggest checking this zoo out, but maybe when more exhibits open back up.

I love our zoo but this recent visit wasn't the greatest. All birds were not out due to bird flu. I think that should have been posted before you go in. The zoo is always under construction and the one nice place kids had to play and unwind is now gone. Half the animal exhibits were empty and many were dirty. I did not except that from our zoo. I am hoping things change for the better soon. Do have to say the penguin exhibit is a nice addition and a must see.

First trip and it was great. Went on a Tuesday and there was not a crowd. Evidently it is baby season for some of the primares as we saw a baby gorilla and a baby orangutan!! Docents were friendly and helpful, everyone we talked to was great. They are building a couple of new exhibits and we can't wait to come back and see them.

  • 5/5 Danielle S. 9 months ago on Google
We just took our family and it was so fun! Although we went on a very hot day, it was not crowded at all. I do recommend going when it is not so hot so that the animals will be more active. They, for good reason, were very hard to see sometimes because they were in the shade. We are non-residents of New Mexico, so it was a little more expensive for an adult. We decided to buy the package so that we could see the aquarium too! It was $22 per adult for us. But residents cost less. Lunch at the Shark Reef Cafe was very good! We all loved it!

  • 5/5 Elias M. 11 months ago on Google
This place was very enjoyable and actually bigger than I would have imagined. My family and I are from out of town, and we decided to stop here briefly before heading home. Big mistake as this place is so big and it took longer to see almost everything. The place was so huge and we were short on time we didn't get to see everything and we were here for about 3 hours or more. This is definitely an all-day thing to make sure you get to enjoy and experience everything this place has to offer. Of course, anything you buy here is incredibly expensive, but that should be a given and common knowledge by now about any attraction site such as a zoo. So I'd definitely recommend packing things yourself or eating ahead of time. The zoo and aquarium are separated, but if you buy the combo package, you'd get admission to both places and get to ride the shuttle. However, those tickets sell fast and they recommend buying them the night before. Also, if you are an NM resident with an EBT card, you have a discount and may enter for $3 per person. One last thing, if you rent out the stroller and are going to both the zoo and aquarium, make sure to get the voucher when returning the stroller. That voucher will allow you to rent out another stroller at the other location without having to pay again. I wish someone had told us ahead of time.

Renovations going on for Australia exhibit and Asia (if I remember correctly) but it is such a nice place to spend family time. We enjoyed the penguins and polar bear exhibit. There’s peacocks that roam freely-please don’t mess with them! Whenever I go to the zoo there’s always some jerk doing that or allowing their kids to chase the peacocks. Leave them be and just observe. I gave four stars because it was hard finding parking. The parking lot isn’t too big and the park next to the zoo was full on the day we went due to a baseball game so some of those people parked at the zoo parking. Other than that, we enjoyed our trip.

Any where we go that has a zoo, I want to go. There is a lot under construction at the ABQ zoo but you can still see a lot of animals. Price is great. Access is great. We went as soon as the park opened and no lines. It was still in the 90's. Bring a cooler with drinks and a lunch. Plenty of areas to have a picnic. Lots of shade to take a break. Drinks in the park are minimum of $7. BRING something to keep you cool.

The Best Smelling Zoo I’ve ever been to. I don’t know how they do it, but this zoo did not smell like animals. Aside from that, this is a first class zoo, and the entrance price is only 14 dollars (10 if you live here) which is crazy good. They have perhaps the best Pingüino enclosure which alone is worth the visit. But they also have other awesome animals like Elephants, Polar bears, Giraffes, a Tiger, Kangaroos, a giant snapping turtle, a Bald eagle, and many others. This zoo is really worth visiting and you can bring your children too.

  • 5/5 Eric Z. 7 months ago on Google
Really cool, though a lot of the exhibits were under construction and we weren’t available to see all the animals. The conditions in which the animals are held also look to be up to a high standard.

  • 5/5 Amanda C. 7 months ago on Google
A fun trip for families or a first date. At this time (9/8/23), a lot of the animals areas are closed/coming soon and concessions are pretty expensive, but you can bring your own food/drinks if you'd rather save $13 on two slurpees. They have a great holiday light display in the winter, and they serve alcohol--- easy to spot the animals most of the time but not guaranteed

Me and my boyfriend had a great time. The only thing I’d suggest is to bring your own water if allowed. My water costed me $6. Very large zoo, I really enjoyed the penguin exhibit and the cheetahs.

What a BEAUTIFUL ZOO!!! I loved how up close you are to the animals yet protected without glass! Glass is so obnoxious! So many different points if veiw as well so it was nice to have just about access to all of the animals!
