Bumpy road to parking lot. Lots of parking space. Very nice place for a walk especially in the evening. Throughout whole trail the golden mountain is in a view. The trail goes right next to river on elevation. Noticed couple of coyotes across the river. Encountered rabbit right next to main trail which wasn’t scared to run away at all.

Beautiful and tranquil, plenty of area to walk along, and you can go down to the water as well if you would like. Current was fast when I was there, but the area was so peaceful, I enjoyed everything.

This is a wonderful spot to access the Bosque trails. Going upriver will provide you with some unobstructed views of the river and the Sandia Mountains; going downriver immerses you in the wonders of a uniquely New Mexico Cottonwood forest. These are two early morning views of the Sandias taken while hiking the trails.

The directions aren't that great, so you may just want to use Google Maps to navigate to the Vista park, then turn right onto the dirt road immediately past the park. Beautiful views, lots of bird watching, but be careful as there are tons of coyotes in the area. Make sure you wear junk shoes or your good boots as the shoreline gets nice and mucky.

We visited on Saturday morning, and it was pretty empty. Around noon more folks started to set up picnics around the beach, but there was still plenty of space for everyone. As of September 2021 the water is pretty low, but not as low as farther south in Albuquerque. Overall this is a wonderful, clean, quiet spot.

Great place for a hike. Unpaved road next to park is what you take to a gravel parking area. Bring water & a snack - you'll want to explore for awhile!

Nice trails down to the Rio. Quiet . Beware there is an abundance of coyotes in the area. Great place to find cool looking rocks.

Great Open Space, Short walk to the water. Lots of trails, popular spot and next to a park, always busy.

Nice spot to go and hang out at the river. Easy access if you are in a vehicle and even funner getting there of you have a UTV!

A scruffily charming wilderness area that seems ancient but incredibly fragile. A meandering oasis in the New Mexico desert. I went for a sunrise hike and passed three coyotes gliding, silent as ghosts, down to the river. They were sleek, robust animals with luxurious coats, which was reassuring: healthy apex predators means a healthy ecosystem. They completely ignored me, except for the third one, who briefly paused and glanced back at me before disappearing into the brush. There was no malice or fear in the look, only curiosity. An extraordinary moment, in a very special place.
