An unusual museum, but interesting stop below the Mountains Sandias. Closed for the winter Nov 1st-April 1st...not sure if that means every winter however, best to check. I had gone there in the warmer season. Nice store inside and nice folks. ...A charming place. Pictures give you an idea of how it is put together. But stop in to see it and get a feeling of the place yourself...in the warmer seasons if you're near the area or passing through. Close to Cedar Crest.

Place is nice and the staff. Little pricey in the gift shop but itโ€™s pretty interesting over all. New comers get a free dollar in quarters. Also I would use the restroom before visiting at the shell gas station. Thereโ€™s only one porta potty there.

I have not been there in years, and this visit was much needed. This visit brought back so many memories, and this time I introduced my visiting family from Florida, and they loved it, their minds were blown! They could not stop taking pictures!

What an amazing place. It seems this place was one manโ€™s dream and creation and all he spent his spare time building. Apparently he also managed to find time to have a family, but seeing all of this makes you wonder how. Just amazing.

Unusual location, on the way to Sandia Ski Resort. Unfortunately, it is closed for the winter season. Would definitely be interested to visit after seeing how it looks from side of the road.

40 years of collections displayed as a time capsule, workshops and studio also restored. Give yourself an hour or more to take it all in. Great gift shop .

Tinker town is always such a fun experience with family and friends. I have been taking my kids since they were infants and they have new experiences every time they go. Thank you Tinker Town !

If you happen to be on the Turquoise Trail, this is a great place to stop and see the creations of folk artist Ross Ward. It was only $8 to get into the museum. However, if you donโ€™t have the money or time--there is a lot of free things to see on the outside of the museum.

I lived in Albuquerque for like 6 years and I moved away so on my trip back there this year we came across this amazing place. So much to look at think about and do. I would so take my family back there when I come next to visit it was truly amazing. Amazing staff and we got to meet the man's wife who still lives on the property she is a kinda and amazing woman herself. She has kept up the place and is such a sweet soul.

Amazing, can't even begin to describe all the things you can see. It was so worth the trip. And worth way more than the $6 entrance fee.

Quaint. Eclectic and eccentric. Lots to see - my 7 and 9 year Olds lived it. The staff are kind, sweet and accommodating. Definitely something to check out! And bring quarters for the shows and pennies for the wishing well!

This is such a magical place. Anyone visiting ABQ needs to visit. I was a kid last time I went and theyโ€™ve grown the attraction with a really cool ship voyage of the owners brotherโ€™s 15 year ship expedition around the world.

Super cute museum. They have the nicest staff Iโ€™ve ever met! There are cute little machines along the path that take quarters. Be sure to bring your quarters. If you donโ€™t remember they will sell you some.

Worth the price of admission. The place won't interest most kids, but it also only takes an hour to get through at a normal pace. The gift shop is also very reasonably priced, too. Bring quarters for some of the interactive bits!

This is one of my favorite little hidden gems. I go once a year and always suggest that others do when passing through. One must SLOW DOWN to really pay attention and get inside the mind and art of this space and the creator. The messages are there, but most zip through like it's a video game, never coming eye to mind on what is really here. This is an incredible piece of history, a showcase of intricate art, an exploration for the inquirer. Do not miss this, and if you show up, do not miss what you can discover either.

Wonderful displays and amazing artwork! Customer service is top notch!! We're visiting Santa Fe - and it was totally worth the drive. I called in the morning and spoke with the owner, Carla, because I was worried about not having tickets. She said "Come on out - we will get you in!" Be sure to bring quarters for some of the fun displays/games they have. Our kids (9 and 11) had so much fun! We easily spent a couple hours here. The gift shop is reasonably priced, too. Don't pass this up - I'm glad we didn't! Thank you, Carla & staff for your kindness!

Buy tickets online: $6. Timed admission. They may let a few drive-up visitors in. Plan on 1 1/2 hours if you pay attention. There is so much amazing and intricate detail here; don't rush it. Kids enjoyed it as much as adults - it is not a museum. I'd call it a collection of hand made folk art & whimsical stuff. Many items have sound and movement - it's amazing. Similar to a Ripley's Believe it or Not. Bring quarters for some antique fair/ amusement park/ side show machines. Long RVs/ trailers/ 5th wheels can park on the edge of the road presuming cars don't park there. (The road apparently doesn't go through. It wouldn't be a bad idea to unhook somewhere at the bottom. The road is a sheepish grade mountain pass (or in this case NOT pass) and apparently has a nice lookout 10 miles further).

Absolutely obsessed with this place. I love it so much. You could walk through this place a hundred times and still enjoy it. There are so many displays and this whole man's life on display in a beautiful yet intimate tribute. One of my favorite places in the state for sure. I would recommend a visit to anyone visiting Albuquerque.

One of the most unique roadside attractions still around. The drive up towards Sandia Crest is spectacular and this place should not be missed! It can be uneven and slightly tilted in places which makes it challenging for those with walking difficulties. The artistry and creativity of one manโ€™s vision are just joyful!

This place is a unique universe. A creation of a very active imagination. One that profiles Americana and demonstrates how junk can be formed into useful and beautiful things. We were inspired to think about life differently!

  • 5/5 M. H. 2 years ago on Google
It is definitely "unique". The drive was scenic. But walking thruout the museum one has to appreciate the amount of time, dedication and love that went into this place. A lifetime of art to look at from wood carvings, art walls, a boat and quarter machine. Bring quarters! The gift shop was also amazing, not for it's charm and souvenirs but pricing for gift shop items was more than fair. I honestly appreciate that they don't price gouge!

This is one of the most interesting places I have been to in years. The love is seen in the hours of work/hobby time put into this place. It is a gem worth the drive up to. Price is cheap for the enjoyment you get out of this place. The have built displays are amazing. You kids will be amazed. Old or young this is a must go adventure

Tremendous treasure grove of authentic circus memorabilia and truly inspiring outsider art. Warm and gracious hostesses. Lots of old timey penny arcade machines and magnificent dioramas and wild west facades. A fun kid oriented gift shop w games and toys and puppets. If yr in the area. Dont miss this one.

This place was fabulous! Never seen so much neat stuff in one place! Highly recommend visiting Tinkertown. Take plenty of quarters for the exhibits!

Amazing history and spectacular exhibits. The wife is still running the museum after the passing of her husband. He carved and painted everything there is to see. Easy parking. Take your quarters so u can make the exhibits come to life. Cute gift store. Really would recommend this for all ages

Great place. So enjoyed the quality and quantity of his work. Amazing that he got all that done in his lifetime. That circus has so many little details. Incredible.

๐Ÿ‘ Fun short hike, "springs" are a bit underwhelming tho but still nice how they built them. Parking is hard so plan ahead.
