My favorite trail to South peak. First two miles are no shade but the rest is beautiful. Almost 12 miles round trip. And the most Elevation change out if all the trails if you are looking for a challenge. I made my new record on this day 4 hours and 1 minute.

Looks like a great place to go for a hike with well maintained trails things were nicely marked with good size signs. And the views are breath taking. The only MAJOR MAJOR drawback was the fact that I was attacked by one million mosquito’s!!!! It was enough to send me running for my car!!! It was intense and I hate bugs but I almost died. I will not go back with out a brand new can of bug spray for sure!!!!

Great loop hike. It gets a little steep on the way up if you go through the rocky canyon. Lots of large rocks to navigate. Hiked in colder weather of January and there was a lot of ice and some snow at the top. The ice was only bad in some parts but it’s fun as long as you have good shoes. Didn’t seem very traveled this time of year, lots of wild turkey tracks 🦃

Nice trail. A little steeper and more rocky than I was expecting so make sure you have good hiking shoes.

This one is another good trail. Starts off flat then progresses upward with rocks/boulders. More then one trail to chose from. Beautiful area and scenery. Remember to bring water with you. On this trail I only went 2 hours out. Slowly building up. I love how peaceful and quiet it is out there. Wasn't that crowded for a Saturday morning.

Great hike with beautiful boulders, trees, many different bird species winding through a canyon.

Great trail system. Big parking lot. Many different environments as you hike up. Canyon route is shadier, slicker after rains, has more birds and butterflies. The other side has great views of the city, mainly cactus, wildflowers, exposed switchbacks, and full sun unless starting early. The trail continues through a pine forest to the south summit.

Overall great trail! You begin going through a canyon which then leads to a nice area of trees! A majority of the trail to start off with is on a gradual incline! We proceeded to a point where you obtained an amazing view of the city below and of mount Taylor in the distance! Only complaint was that we wished there were a few trail markers to keep us on the right path (similar issue with other hikers on the trail), but otherwise, it was very enjoyable!

Really lovely trail. I turned around after about 3.5 miles and ascending about 2k feet. It keeps going for a while but I started around 2pm and wanted to make sure I got back before sunset. Pretty exposed in the beginning with minimal shade, but after about 2 miles in there is full shade, aspens, wildlife including a flock of turkeys I spotted on the hike, and cooler temperatures. The brush gets a little close into the trail later on so if you don't like it brushing against your skin, wear some light long sleeved clothing. Not too difficult to follow though there are a couple forks, I recommend just popping open google maps briefly to make sure you're following the right path. But overall it is not too difficult to follow. Just lots of upward movement.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! We didn't have walking a trail in mind on our breaking bad tour. Considering we had to drive on thru to Vegas. But believe me when I tell you. We will be back to hike this trail. The scenery was amazing! Had me wanting to move to New Mexico for 13 seconds 🤣🤣🤣...

Overall a great trail in a late March day. Very challenging, the stream of water at the beginning to the snow/ice in the forest were tough. Made it 3/4 way up but had to turn back. But it was all worth it to see and hear nature's beauty! Photos do NOT do them justice! Gear up and make sure you can hike for 7 hours plus!

This is a very nice hike. Great views and I'd not call it anything but easy. A little moderate for some I suppose. Very enjoyable. No fees.

Great hiking trail but It's not for beginners about half mile in it has a steep increase in elevation.

There are so many options to choose from. Unfortunately there are a lot of social trails, so navigation can be tricky if you're trying to do a certain route. You can just hike around the foothills or you can take trails all the way up to the top.

The trail isn't super clearly labelled near the beginning. Don't climb up the rocks that lead to Oso Spring by accident; keep the map open until you're past it.

This is a difficult trail. The views when you get near the top are quite good. You'll have a couple of options on how to get down, backtracking the way you came or going down the Oso Spring trail.

One of the best hiking trails in the Sandia’s. Trail isn’t marked very well, so use an app like AllTrails or glance at a map.

Awesome hike close to downtown ABQ. Go right at the fork for a more strenuous path up with rock climbing or go left with a shallower gravel path (still steep!). Be aware for cougars & rattlesnakes!
