We visted this area for the first time and had lunch there. There is plenty of area here for all ages; hiking; bird watching; deer watching; and a real nice place to spend the day with family..

Great area for quick getaway from the city. Short drive from Albuquerque. 40-45 minutes. If you go for the picnic tables toward the back it is better. Besides the first two shelters are usually reserved for groups. There are nice hikes that you can go on that start at the end of picnic tables. Or set up a hammock and chairs and relax, listen to the wind in the trees and birds. Parking is $3. So be sure to bring cash. Rangers are there all the time. So don’t skip out the parking payment.

We had a quick lunch so we could get started on the trail as soon as possible. I loved the stream winding through the trail. Not a great trail to take small children on.

Doc Long Picnic Area is a short drive from Albuquerque. We went up early to enjoy the cool weather, it's normally eight to ten degrees cooler there. There are numerous hiking trails to explore and the smell of the pine trees is intoxicating. Pack up a picnic basket and get the kids out of town and off line for a day and enjoy the state you live in.

Pure Sandia serenity. Especially if you get there in an afternoon rain

Great place to hang out, explore, and picnic. I went with my family in early spring. So still had snow, but we loved it. Unfortunately restrooms are closed from October to April 1st.

As a photographer, I’ve done many photo shoots here. I love it. Always clean, never overly crowded, absolutely beautiful and peaceful.

This is one of my favorite places to take my family. Easy parking. Lots of hiking trails and clean bathrooms. Couple of covered gazebos for family get togethers. You can stay on clear paths or you can easily get more adventurous if you want.

Nice covered picnic tables. Room to setup volleyball net. Grills available (charcoal) and restrooms too. Beautiful trees & vegetation. Perfect for family birthdays & reunions

2nd year coming here after the snow ❤ and it was a blast. Its not far up the mountain so even with a car when the roads are not so great its not too bad gettin there. Just don't pull off into deep snow unless you have 4 wheel drive and good tires we did have to pull/push someone out this time. A lot of the little hills are established and so sledding for little ones is fun and not too dangerous.

What a wonderful place to take family and friends! There are lots of tables all spaced out plenty of shade as the day changes and spaced enough from people. Lots of trash cans. And a restroom. And nice trails. Highly recommend but make sure you bring three single dollar bills for the $3 parking.

It was SO crazy windy at the peak on this Boxing Day that we decided to go for a little hike a little further down the mountain. This fit the bill. Good facilities. Stinky. But clean. Nice hiking area with picnic tables and good trail options.

This is a great place to beat the heat. Some lovely moderate trails leading out of the area. There are quite a few picnicking areas, easy to find shade, some of the areas are quite large for big gatherings. There is a $3 fee or or National Forest service pass of some sort is required. Sulfur canyon is another nice area just a quarter mile down the hill.

I don't know why I like this spot so much but I do it is always peaceful here .I stop by and sit here at times to basically kill time and get lost in thoughts it is my little escape from reality . I love looking at all the tall beautiful pine trees 🌲 and breathing the fresh crisp air .I come here every chance that I get it keeps me from being depressed 😔 knowing I'm far from my home state and the city I grew up in .
