LOVE this hotel!! Nice job putting so many NM touches EVERYWHERE! Love the photos & art on the walls - having them labeled was so helpful. I heard many people in the hallways talking about the walls. Love the metal (tin?) door numbers complete with hole punching. The painted beams, paint around the fire extinguishers, the coffee bar enclosure, the tin lights - so many details. Even the elevators were painted outside & nice wood work inside. NICELY DONE! Room was very comfortable, bonus to have a freezer in the fridge. Quiet, we had a room that faced the courtyard, lovely view & warm sunshine came in. Plenty of parking. Nice selections for complimentary breakfast - and the option to get it to go worked great the 2nd day. Very relaxing hotel. Everyone was pleasant and cheery.

I have stayed here many times in the past few years. The service is exemplary, the breakfast is great, beds comfy. But the rates have gone way up in the last year and the last two times have been with our dog. First they charge you $30 for staying with a dog, which is exorbitant. Then they put you on the second floor in a "special" dog room which has no carpet and a dog bed, all that is great but it's on the highway side of the hotel so there's highway noise all night, big trucks zooming by. The dog area is just rocks in a small space outside the side door where the smokers also go, so exposed to smoke which I do not appreciate. My dog is a standard poodle who does not shed and is hypoallergenic so this was all unnecessary for me, he does not require any extra cleaning or anything. Plus by having shedding dogs on the second floor going up and down the elevators would create a large problem for any patron with severe allergies. I am a diamond elite member with best Western and have traveled all summer with this same dog, this is by far the most I have paid for having the dog most are $10 to $20 extra and with the least amenities for that extra fee. Disappointed long time customer. Think I will be finding another hotel to stay at on my quarterly trips thru Albuquerque.

The entire staff was wonderful. Check-in was a breeze, the amenities geared towards my dog were very nice. The rooms were clean and the breakfast selection offered was great! Leslie the bartender is a wonderful human who goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcomed. She is the best of the best and this Best Western is lucky to have her!

This was my second time staying at this property. I was 100% satisfied with the property and amenities. The restaurant and lounge have great selections for meals and snacks. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The property is clean and conveniently located to the freeway and local attractions. I will definitely choose this location again.

Before our trip we read and heard lots of warnings about where to stay in Albuquerque. We chose this hotel based on reviews and a location near Old Town. What a great choice. The grounds were kept well and felt safe with a gate and fence. The front desk employees were very friendly and helped us with enrolling in a frequent stay program that got us free custom breakfast. I'd definitely stay here again.

Great location! Only about a half mile from the Historic Old Town and the hotel has a pretty good restaurant inside. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Gillian (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) was amazing and even though she was busy with the Balloon fiesta rush, she took her time to be kind and so helpful to us. No complaints here! Great hotel!! Thanks for the great stay!

Excellent. I’ve been visiting Albuquerque for a decade now and have always stayed at the Best Western by the airport and always dissatisfied. I wish I had been staying here for past travels. Very efficient and fast check in hostess. Breakfast ladies were so kind to make me a grab and go so fast. Wonderful coffee all day. Very clean room. This is the place to stay in Albuquerque, for sure. So welcoming, thank you.

Great experience during my 2 night stay. Staff very friendly and they even applied a discount I didn't know I qualified for when I checked in. Had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and both meals were fantastic. Bed was just right as far as firmness goes. My TV stopped working at 9pm and the maintenance guy was in my room in less than 5 minutes to fix it which I really appreciated. The location is great, close to the freeway and easy to get around. Would absolutely stay here again!

This was surprisingly good, clean, and high quality. Especially for the price. Highly recommend staying here. Love that they are pet friendly and don't charge extra. I saw lots of other people with dogs. Other places were cheaper, but with the pet fees they charged, it made this place a good deal. Higher quality with good price.

This is a fabulous hotel. Excellent staff especially our breakfast waitress Ms. MICHAEL (a young lady). Breakfast was delicious. Had a drink and dinner in restaurant which was fine. They were good at helping me get options I could eat (sore mouth problem). Try it in the area I think you will agree it is wonderful.

We had our family and friends stay here for our wedding weekend and we were all very impressed with Rio Grande! Rooms were comfy and clean. Front desk staff were great and helpful. The shuttle service really made the stay that much better for family and friends.

I was arriving late and called to make sure all is well. The staff assured me no issues will arise, and they were correct! Check in was fast and quick, staff was amazing and very clear about parking and location of the room. The parking lot had locked gates, only one way in and out at night, (unlocked and open during the day), and was very clean. The room was extremely clean, bed was comfortable, full selection of Direct TV, shower good and hot, it was very quiet, and I was able to have a good sleep. Breakfast at the restaurant was delicious. Service was very fast with the drinks and food… I can not speak for all the food but the breakfast fajitas was on point! There is only one thing that caught my eye and that was the color (maybe just outdated) choice of the carpet vs door/wall color. 4 out of 5 on the location… it was a little difficult turning left out of the hotel during busier times of the day. This is definitely a great place to stay and would highly recommended!!!

The good: Very clean room and convenient location. You get a voucher for breakfast or $7 to use in the lounge. The bartender was nice enough to charge us $7 instead of $9 for house margaritas so we could use the vouchers. The bad: We had a corner room, 220, it had the smallest window I have ever had in a hotel room. It was about the size of a piece of carry-on luggage and it looked onto the exterior wall of the building. All you saw was stucco. Shown in pic, window with light on. You can't exit the hotel from the stairway because it will set off the fire alarm. This may be a safety thing, but it was a real pain to wait for the elevator every time when we just needed to go down 1 floor to exit the building. The walls and ceilings are very thin. A kid running around in the room above us woke me up at 5am. While taking a shower, the toilet was flushed in the bathroom next door which made my shower ice cold. The pool still had the cover on it even though the weather was in the 80s.

This was a great pet-friendly hotel. Very clean, very helpful and knowledgeable desk staff. They were super kind with our late arrival due to being stuck on I-40 due to the Sixty Six Fire. My husband and son reported the food was quite good. I liked the location, which made it easy to reach historic sites, restaurants, and shopping. After a long week on the road, we planned two days here for some downtime. It was a lovely place to spend a couple days. I did dislike the prevalence of skunky pot smoke outside the doors closest to our rooms. The smell persists well into the hallways. It makes it rough for those of us who are allergic. Luckily, it doesn't travel into the rooms, even when folks are smoking directly outside the air units. My only room recommendation: room microwaves! We have food allergies and frequently bring things to microwave when traveling. I realize this may be a difficult prospect given the age of the hotel--electrical updates are difficult to configure. Even a couple lobby microwaves would be helpful.

The restaurant attached to the hotel is the wild avocado. Very good Mexican food and service. The rooms were clean and convenient. This was especially important to us since this was our first time traveling with our two dogs. There's a great place to welcome right outside the back door. There's also great restaurants in the area including a Burger King right across the street.

Great experience here, much better than expected. The airport shuttle was convenient and picked us up within 15 minutes of us calling, and the sit-down restaurant is really nice for an included breakfast. Our room was very quiet and comfortable and we slept well. All the employees we interacted with were kind. Highly recommend.

The hotel was conveniently located to Old Town. Room was roomy and clean. Only complaint was they charge a fee if you want to check in early. We were told our room was ready at 12:30pm, but wouldn't let us have it unless we paid! As we were only staying 1 night, we found this very petty. Is this all Best Westerns, or does it vary?

Stayed here for four nights during the Balloon Fiesta. Rooms were clean. Beds were comfy. They have a full service restaurant where you have breakfast. If staying there you get a breakfast voucher for each morning with 6 or 7 choices or you could order off the menu if you wanted to pay. We always picked one of the free choices, they were all very good. Breakfast was from 6-10. The restaurant is also open for dinner and drinks from 5-10. You can order a drink and take it out to the pool or up to your room. They have an outdoor pool and hot tub. We didn't use them but they looked nice. They also had an outdoor sitting area next to the pool with tables and chairs, which was very nice and we did use this. The hotel was only 12 miles from the Ballon park. I think our longest drive in was about 18 minutes. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Great hotel. I stayed for 1 night in September as I was at the end of a coach tour and wanted 1 night in Alburquerque. I am an elderly female travelled alone. Felt safe and comfortable. Free shuttle takes you to old town and also Airport and other areas. Coffee in foyer and lemon water. Great Breakfast in restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I cannot say this is enough, the people here are incredible. ESPECIALLY MEGAN. Megan was the most giving and understanding person. Our car broke down while moving across the country and she picked us up with the shuttle, helped us load AND unload our car full of stuff, helped us get food, gave us the perfect room, AND stayed past her shift to help. OH and checked in on us the following day. Can you believe that?? Gillian, ALSO GREAT. WHOLE STAFF=KINDNESS These people are incredible. You should stay here. Oh and the water pressure… WOW. Beds very comfortable. Reallllly nice pool and spa area. Ten minute walk to old town. LOVE IT. EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS.

Been staying here for the past 15 months. All the sudden the new management decided not to deliver a microwave to poeple who have a specific diet. Not to mention this is the only hotel that I have ever stayed at that does not supply a microwave in every room. When I asked why I was told because the owner doesn't believe in microwave and that the maintenance man could be doing something else with him time. This was conveyed by the new management. So today 07-29-23 I was contacted by the new management again saying that I cannot park my truck and trailer in the parking lot. No solution like parking on the street. So I stay with Best Western about 225 days a year and this location with the new management is the worst I have ever dealt with. Guess I am going to have to go to their competition Holiday inn Express where I have never had an issue.

Walking distance to Old Town which is great! Not much to do in old town, but still the hotel is great. The breakfast staff are the friendliest I’ve ever met in a hotel and my pancakes were fab. Parking is around the building and just fine and pretty safe. Rooms are clean!

The hotel is lovely. The staff were very nice. The price was competitive. So why the low review? Well, my husband discovered a lone star tick embedded in his groin area after spending the night here. Unfortunately, when a hotel allows pets to also stay in rooms, the pets can bring in fleas and ticks. From now on I will make it a point to only stay at pet-free hotels. I don't have a dog, and I don't want to sleep where a dog has been. Ticks can harbor and spread all kinds of illnesses and diseases to humans. I shouldn't have to worry about ticks in my room. It's not like I went camping in the woods!!

The staff was good. The hotel is old and smells of cigaretts. My biggest complaints are that our loaded UHaul with all of our belongings in it was stolen out of the parking lot and the EV chargers dont work which is a big reason we picked this hotel.

This hotel is very affordable, pet friendly and the staff are so friendly and accommodating! The rooms are very clean, the vinyl floors are great! I wish all hotels had this feature. The restaurant is a nice feature, especially when you get off the road and want to relax. The wait staff are so friendly and very attentive.

This is a really nice hotel and it's located mere blocks from Old Town Albuquerque and the Sawmill Market offers a great selection of eatery in a food court setting. The staff that works here at the hotel are friendly and the beds for this weary traveler are great. The only downside is our room was a little dated. The bathroom is on the smallish side and there isn't a microwave. There is a safe in the room if needed. I would highly recommend this hotel.

No microwave in rooms, VERY old hotel smells musty.... this is a $80. Per night hotel for their BEST ROOM!! MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR A VOUCHER OR YOU DONT GET A FREE BREAKFAST!! Very depressing, I believe the staff is nice, not sure about management on up... the hotel is either hurting terribly or they are JUST RIPPING OFF THE TRAVELERS ! SORRY honest opinion AND THE TRUTH

This is a GREAT hotel in a GREAT location- the décor and furniture are outstanding. The employees were so welcoming and inviting (except for one bad apple) and many told me how they love working there. Friday night 5/19 was a new bartender in the bar - she was so welcoming, talkative, and still worked hard at cleaning behind the entire bar, just a very nice lady with a great personality for her job. Would have been great to have her there again Saturday night. I went to free breakfast and was amazed at the breakfast offer menu-it was great with superior service-- all smiling and welcoming employees. I used the van shuttle service and we had a little hiccup but I will say it is a great free option to have. There is so much to see within walking distance. I will definitely be back! Thanks for all your positive energy and keep it up!

This is the best place we have ever stayed! I think we were too spoiled by this place! It's very affordable, extremely clean, the rooms clean, facility well kept and clean, staff very friendly, great location and amazing breakfast. We will only stay at this place for every visit to Albuquerque! I would take this place over any other place in this town, high end places included! It is better than the 5 star hotels we stayed, including the last hotel, which was 5 star rated. Best Western Rio Grande Albuquerque was cleaner, better quality and friendlier staff. Who can beat the amazing sit down free breakfast , just leave a healthy tip for their amazing team!

Nice location but the lobby to register is not marked on the outside of the building. We drove around the hotel 3x looking for it. Finally asked a person in the parking lot where to go. Went to the restaurant/bar after a long day. We ate dinner and had 4 beers each. We decided to stay a while longer and watch a basketball game on TV. After 1 more beer the bartender told us that unless we ordered more food,we would have to leave. It wasn't even 2 hours since we finished eating. Plus we are 2 old people that are not rowdy and they weren't closing for at least another hour. Probably will not stay here again.

I don’t understand how this place is even listed! It’s disgusting! Smells of cigarettes. Which was the least of my worries. (This place has maggots) The staff are exceptional. Very nice. I had a drink at the bar and the bartender was very on it! There was a birthday party that night and she was the only one working. NOT COOL! U could tell it was too much for her, but she still did a great job and made it happen. But this place is gross! There was a maggot in the bathroom! Check photos!

It's what you would expect from a Best Western Plus hotel. Clean rooms, friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent compared to what most hotel breakfasts are nowadays, although the coffee was lacking. Beds are comfy but the chairs can hurt. My one real issue is that the elevators smelled like marijuana. I wouldn't normally care except I was travelling with my family and the kids don't need to be breathing that stuff in.

  • 3/5 Aaron 2 years ago on Google
The beds were very comfortable ! The room space was adequate, the bathroom seemed a little cramped as the toilet was next (literally) next to the tub/shower. The pool was inside a dome that you could go to, there was a small spa as well. However there is only 2 elevators that are small that work for a 4 floor hotel. No breakfast provided. Parking was a little tight through spring break weekend as to be expected.

The last time I stayed here was 2003 and it was amazing then. This time we were in search of a hotel at 2 am and the lady working the front desk was very helpful when I called and there most importantly is security in the parking lot at night (Albuquerque has a lot of vehicle theft) this is a huge plus for this hotel. Hotel was nice, lots of hot water and a bathtub. I would stay there again. Close proximity to Old Town and museums.

This was a convenient location, right off highway 40. The check in was quick and they offered Best Western rewards. Restaurant and bar on site, with decent food. Clean rooms, a bit small, but comfortable beds and pillows. The hotel is pet friendly and even had a tiny dog run that was nice to be able to use.

This hotel deserves 5/5 stars for the customer service alone! As someone traveling to NM for the first time, I felt well attended to and safe. Gillian and Jasmine stood out the most. They were all so attentive, suggested nearby restaurants and sight seeing, and one night even sent up a microwave to my room for my dinner. The cleaning staff also do a great job and are very considerate! This is a great stay for newcomers as it’s close to Old Town, great coffee shops, and even has a Starbucks and Burger King across the street. The free breakfast was delicious and some of the best I’ve had as it’s made to order! Shuttle bus service is amazing to and from the airport and other nearby attractions. The only things that weren’t the best is that the hotel itself is a bit outdated and the pool was still covered even though it’s end of April and weather was in the 70s & 80s. Fridge also made a lot of noise at night.
