They were fixing our house and we had to find a hotel to stay in for the night. Well looking at reviews and the photos this hotel looked updated and fresh. Boy was I WRONG!!! We pulled up and got overwhelmed by the beautiful view of downtown at night. Hubby went and checked us in. (He was concerned but didn’t want to offend me) we made our way down a creepy hall, the doors looked like this prison cell doors and the carpet was filthy. I walked in the room and just tried to be positive and had the kids change to go swim because it had been a long day. We swam for about 30 minutes because the pool was like ice and the floors were pretty dirty. Got back to the room to shower off and go to bed and I could not believe what the tub looked like. Black mold growing, rust, and dirt and grime! Hair that was not ours, dirty toilet…just BAD!!! I think the front desk worker knew how bad the hotel was because he was quick to refund our no refundable stay. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Avoid this hotel!

I rarely find myself leaving negative reviews, as I understand the impact they can have on potential customers. However, this experience compelled me to share my concerns since health is at stake. Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was nothing short of a health hazard. Upon entering the premises, we waited for nearly 10 minutes at the front desk with no staff in sight to assist. The phone kept ringing and went unanswered. We assumed they were understaffed and didn’t even make a fuss about this since we totally understand. I just checked in, grabbed our key, and went upstairs. We proceeded to our room, only to be met with a strong smell of mold and mildew in the hallway and within the room itself. This posed a significant problem as my boyfriend is highly allergic to such conditions. Within minutes, his sinuses started acting up, and we had to leave the room to seek fresh air and medication. Hoping that would do the trick, we went back upstairs to the room and he immediately started feeling the effects of mold again. We grabbed our bags and went down to the front desk hoping for a resolution. We explained the situation and the person on duty was understanding, but without the manager present, they couldn't offer a refund or any assistance. The Howard Johnson desk worker advised us to contact the manager the following day. However, reaching the manager proved to be a frustrating challenge. We made multiple calls over several hours, with no response. Eventually, we managed to get through, but the lady on the phone informed us that the manager was busy and took down our information, promising a callback that never came. That night, we had to book a different hotel which was 280 dollars since it was such a last minute booking We continued our attempts to reach the hotel throughout the next day and even the next morning, but the phone remained unanswered. This lack of responsiveness, paired with the severe mold issue, left us deeply dissatisfied. I have generally enjoyed staying at Wyndham hotels in the past, but this particular experience has been utterly dreadful. I cannot emphasize enough the poor service and conditions we encountered during our stay. Even I, someone relatively tolerant to mildew, experienced breathing difficulties. This place's state and lack of customer care have left a lasting negative impression, and I sincerely hope that the management addresses these issues promptly to prevent further health hazards and disappointing experiences for future guests.

This hotel is really lacking, unfortunately. We waited till too late to book and there was absolutely nothing available, so we found ourselves here. It's old, not well kept, musty, needs a good scrubbing, coat of paint, and just an overhaul. The rooms were absolutely disgusting. Dirty, HOT, and the wall unit ac barely trickled out air all night. We were exhausted and barely slept because of the extreme heat in our room. The pillows are cheap and polyester filled, hard and flat. There was no soap for washing hands or bodies, so we ended up using a tiny little thing of shampoo that had been placed in the room. I don't mind a place being old, but this was just awful. The bathroom walls are peeling, the fixtures are rusty and old, and a big cockroach climbed out of the sink drain when my daughter was brushing her teeth. We had our five children with my husband and I so we of course booked two rooms, they were both equally awful. I have to mention that the girl at the front desk was lovely and got us checked in quickly and efficiently. She was very nice and I feel bad that she has to work at a place that isn't better taken care of.

I'm sorry although this hotel has great potential, possibly if they are under New Management I believe it would be a better experience. I received the wrong registration information, my room was dirty. The hotel is very dark and not lively and quite almost spooky. I'm sure it meets the need for some, but for me it did not. I have yet to receive my full $100 deposit from my stay and I left the room in great standing. Hopefully I will hear from the office soon as I have made plenty attempts.

This was exactly what I was looking for my overnight stay. I wanted peace and quiet, somewhere comfortable to sleep, and a great swim. Accommodations were great. This is an older building but the upkeep is good and it was clean. I love the outside walk. And the pool was fabulous with all those windows. I flawlessly enjoyed my stay. The room was cool, the bed was comfortable, and I enjoyed my swimming time.

The room was ok. But when we got in late at night we got room 122. The wall by the door had a hole, the walls by the top of the ac near the window has some odd stains near the roof line that looked like mold. The curtains had small holes and the tub looked a bit stained. I understand it's not a high rated hotel, but some bare minimum should be taken in to account. They want a 100.00 deposit. But the room to start was not perfect start with. Hope the management (Brighton Management ) if I got it correct, make some repairs and make it good.

We survived the night here but it would be hard to survive multiple 😭😭 no one could shower because the floor of it was vile and i don’t think the hotel had shampoo or body wash. there are holes in the wall everywhere, we could not get the balcony door open, and it is overall a rundown building. From what I could tell, service maybe wasn’t the best, but we didn’t have any problems with them. Bedding was pretty decent also

I stayed for one night with my son. All the metal pieces in the bathroom were rusted and the room was musty. The freeway was unbearable. At 12:30am I asked to change rooms and the gentlemen told me it was sold out even though the hotel wasn’t. He finally moved us into a room and it had a horrible odor of cigarettes. My son and I barely slept. The woman in the morning was very kind and understanding. I would not recommend this property though.

The front desk manager was the rudest, most unprofessional hotel employee I have ever spoken to. Not only did they not answer the front desk phone all night when I tried to call about major weather problems preventing any possibility of arriving due to road closures, but when I was finally able to get in touch this morning, the woman I spoke to immediately said she wouldn’t do anything to help and then continually tried to talk over me when I tried to explain. I requested to speak to someone else and she refused and then hung up on me. Even if she couldn’t help, she could’ve at least been polite or even the slightest bit respectful. To have someone like that managing at the front desk is a horrible representation of the hotel as a whole.

Don't stay here. I am doing you a favor with that request. The staff at this hotel is the only good thing it has going for it. Everything else about this hotel is atrocious. Whoever the general manager is for this location - and anyone above them - should be highly embarrassed by the poor job they've done investing in this location in any meaningful way. This hotel is exceptionally poorly maintained, and I do not mean just the general cleanliness level. The building itself is completely run down. It needs legitimate renovation by actual contractors. The room I stayed in apparently had the bathroom fixtures replaced at some point (the shower head and control for the shower)...yet they didn't remove the old one. The dud-fixtures were just there, inoperable. And the fixtures that were functional were falling apart. Don't get me wrong, it is also very dirty. I don't believe that is the result of their cleaning staff being poor at their job, but likely a failure on the management's part to require anything except the bare necessity cleaning to be done, coupled with a lack of adequate staffing to clean each room to the level you would expect. Know that the website photos are a smoke and mirrors version of this run down catastrophe. The bathtub was completely torn up on the bottom and had a visible ring of soap scum where someone(s) had previously bathed and the staff either didn't clean it or don't have the necessary time/tools to handle it. The walls were smattered in dirt and grime. The oddly small, discount toilet had clearly had the inside replaced with pieces that didn't fit the toilet itself because the handle protruded. The air conditioner vent was caked with dirt/hair/general dander, which probably explains why despite having it set to 66 degrees, it probably never got colder in the room than 75. You can tell this building is woefully aged. In the main part of the room, there was clearly a plywood panel on the wall that was painted white with large artwork on it to cover the fact that they likely used that as an access point for their shotty plumbing work but didn't want to bear the expense to actually apply new drywall. The popcorn ceiling bows in several places. The carpets are stained. The elevator was disgustingly dirty, with drinks/food spilled on the floor and then caked in dirt. Panels from the top of the elevator were just missing, which only served to reveal the dust/hair caked air vent above. Upon entering my room and witnessing the disparaging level of cleanliness, I immediately checked for bed bugs. I did not find any, so there's that. All in all, we paid around $80 for the 6-hours we stopped here to get a nap on our road trip and it was not worth it. There are too many other options in the area to settle for this. Astonishingly, they were solidly booked when we stayed. I have to assume those poor souls were also swindled by unrealistic interior pictures. Please choose ANY OTHER hotel in the area. And to the management of this location - do better. This is disgusting. You, yourself, would not stay there and feel safe and clean. Have more pride in what you're doing. Invest in your business. Invest in your people. The staff there was excellent - friendly, responsive, cleaning the whole time I saw them. But they can only do so much in an exceptionally poorly maintained environment, without the tools they need, and stretched too thin to get everything done that needs to be done. You should be ashamed of what you've allowed to happen here. Stop taking people's money under false pretense and correct these issues.

We stayed at Howard Johnson's by Wyndham and as we were doing one last room check before we left to come home, my husband found a sringe on the top of the shelf by the door. We turned it in but I'm wondering if the housekeeping crew should be checking on top of cabinets and whatnot. We don't put things on top of the closet normally but some one might and what a horrible thing to get a needle stick. We also had trouble regulating the air conditioner. It would come on and near freeze us to death then shut off and half cook us the rest of the time. Quite uncomfortable. We tried to set it but every time we touched it, it would shut down and we would have a mess of a time to get it to come back on. We couldn't park by the room so parked in the parking lot and had to enter through a side door to access the hotel. Second day the key would not work so we had to walk around through the front door and have the key reset to get into our room. The bed was a memory foam and very uncomfortable. All in all I would have to rate our stay a ⭐⭐. I will not use this hotel again.

Our room was still dirty with things in the microwave. The beds are so hard and the pillows are like literal rocks. The bathroom sink was nasty and there was feces on the wall. I have yet to hear from a manager. I contacted corporate as well. No response. Don't waste your money here. 😕

No food, no coffee downstairs, rooms stink, carpet is filthy, pool was dirty and under construction i guess(flagged off with yellow tape), A/C fan was hitting something and clicked constantly all night and kept the baby up. Literally had the baby crying for 2 hours until he was so tired he finally slept. I don't know who wrote good reviews but it was horrible. The parking lot has homeless people everywhere, one had the audacity set a bag on my car. I literally had to yell at him...... AND Then they kept my deposit and said it's because I smoked.... I don't even smoke! I also had to spray my body spray multiple times because the musky bad smell. Luckily there was a balcony and we opened the door for fresh air. I will never stay at Howard Johnsons again. ANYWHERE

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel! It had everything I needed and more. The cleanliness was top-notch, which immediately put me at ease. However, what truly made my experience exceptional was the incredible service from the front desk clerk, Amanda. She went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Her friendly and helpful demeanor made me feel right at home. I can't recommend this hotel enough, and I'll definitely be returning for another visit in the future! Thank you, Amanda, and the entire staff, for making my stay so memorable.

No Hot water seriously None . And it looks like blood splatter on the wall (didn't notice till morning). Had a appointment to have surgery so wanted to stay close to hospital which was perfect location. However when we told the front desk the problem all he could do was suggest writing a review, so here it is . $95.00 after website says $62.00 No hot water walls look like a crime scene and customer service SUCKS....

Quite dumpy for the highest priced motel I've stayed at during this vacation. This room was almost twice the price of other budget hotels we stayed in during this vacation and not half as good. The room was larger than expected even though they didn't give me what I reserved, I was supposed to get a king size bed and they gave me double queens. Being too tired to return to the front desk to complain, we just crashed. It was as clean as you can make it with the old carpet and fixtures. The breakfast offering was very dismal with 2 barely functioning waffle makers and oatmeal packets and a long line of children and bikers. There is a balcony that's accessed through a sliding glass door that takes a he-man to open and close. And when I got into the room the road noise was exceptionally loud, I found out that the outside door was cracked open and NOT LOCKED! They were setting us up for an intruder? I'm glad I looked at that early on. I have one more HoJo to stay at on the way home. Let's hope I can provide a more positive review. UPDATE: I just finished staying at the HoJo in Oklahoma City, and there is no comparison. This location needs to take Oklahoma City's location as an example of quality and price. The Albuquerque hotel is ghetto and that's being kind. Can not recommend and I will not ever stay there again.

Easily accessible location. Rooms are cheap. However, the hotel is not very well lit at night and the parking lot is small. People were taking up two parking spots. Lobby was clean. Room was okay, but there was a dead cockroach in the middle of the room. Ew! Overall sketchy place. Rent a room at this hotel at your own risk!

I slept well here. I felt safe. The parking spaces were tight. The hot tub timer/bubbles didn't work. The dead roach attracting ants in the pool room seems like it was a sign things might not be getting cleaned properly. There was no breakfast, even though the app I used said it was provided.

The room was clean and had great lighting. Bed was comfortable. Don't forget to bring your pillows. You only get 3 per bed. Even if there's 2 of you. It's a 3☆ hotel but no breakfast and I had to go ask for soap.

You only get room service after staying there 5 days. If you request new sheets you have to pick them up at the front desk and drop off the old ones. Our microwave did not work. When asked to replace they said they couldn't replace it with a working one. The website says they offer free breakfast... Which is not true. Mold on shower ceiling. Honestly if it wasn't so close to the hospital, we would leave. Worst hotel stay ever.

Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a hotel. They compare countless booking web sites and typically will have rates a lot cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This resort is one of the most well known in this area. I have been coming here for a very long time. If you stay for a few nights you for sure will love it I'm sure! We have a very beautiful view off the balcony even at night. The rooms were clean beds were neat, had a very nice swimming pool and a hot tub. I would definitely come back again.

I forgot about the HoJo's from my military days, but I needed a 3 night place to stay, immediately, and I didn't think when excepting this place (Going From A 4 Star hotel(I forgot the taxes!) Recommended by the Windham family... I haven't tight about Howard Johnsons since 1989 and they are nothing but a Motel 6 (except is high-rise form) which is exactly what I was wanting to avoid! Going to Albuquerque was a 9.5 how drive and I arrived at 3am with a passes out brother and a not too happy(with me) dog. I was too posed at the other hotel for not giving the promised discount which then increased those taxes. Bathroom ceiling tile was out of place, like there was a drug stash removed from there. There was scalding hot water or ice cold, no middle setting. The sliding door, for the nice balcony, feel off track EVERY time you went to open or close it. There were long black hairs on the fresh sheets and pillow cases, apposed to my floors cleaning lady that had much shorter salt n pepper hair. Am I happy? NO Will I recommend or stay again? Really... NO! 4 STAR TO Z.E.R.O. class!

No airport shuttle, no breakfast, no view, no sound proof walls or windows, no sleep. I specifically booked this hotel because it was a $75-$85/night hotel (~$60-$75 on deal websites) that’s close to the airport, provides continental breakfast, and has an airport shuttle (as promoted online). WRONG! They don’t have a shuttle. So I had to pay an Uber instead, which was not in my budget. PLUS after checking into the hotel and paying a $200 security room deposit, I’m told NO BREAKFAST. All they have is coffee in the morning. I shrugged this off because it was midnight and I was exhausted and needed to pick up my rental car the next morning to go to a SARS training class all day. Unfortunately, the walls are very thin so you can hear people all night, when someone shuts a door it shakes/vibrates the entire room and makes a loud bang. Plus, the window/sliding door to the balcony is very thin and does not cancel out the highway literally next to it. The parking lot entrance sign is not lit up at night and makes for a dangerous and creepy dark parking lot and entrance, which draws a ‘party’ crowd scene. Both nights I stayed on a Mon & Tues during the week I got ZERO rest. The loud music outside, the neighbor screaming, the doors slamming and loud noises. But that’s not everything. I’m usually the kind of person who can sleep anywhere at anytime. But the beds and pillows were so uncomfortable. The bed threw my back out and i couldn’t complete my physical training for why I even came to New Mexico in the first place. I tossed and turned all night trying to fall asleep and when I did finally fall asleep I would get scared awake from loud noises right before hitting REM. This hotel is very dated and has false advertisement. Not a chance in booking here ever again. The lack of sleep with the amount of work and training was not healthy and negatively impacted me in many ways. I got athletes foot from the bathroom tub from not being properly cleaned. It was clogged and did not drain. My 7-10min showers were accompanied with being ankle deep in water. On my first night I requested a wake up call at 630am as a backup in case I didn’t hear my alarm. I didn’t get the wake up call until 6:45am. The second and last night I stayed I requested a wake up call at 3:30am. I didn’t get the wake up call until 4:06am. I only slept 3 hours total in two nights. I’m so frustrated, tired and completely 100% dissatisfied. I hope I get a refund.

No more free breakfast! Coffee ran out by 830; employees all in one room laughing and having a good time. Even insulted by being asked if I was staying at the hotel when I went to get coffee. Deposit is outrageous, $100 deposit on a $60 room that’s falling apart. The only reason they are getting 2 stars, is simply because they were not the worse place that I have stayed. FAR FROM THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS.

Tremendous Value ! For a 52 yr old motel, only one renovation, it has been maintained rather well. I had a King room well cleaned, easily passing the bare foot test, nice furnishings, comfortable linens and towels. A minimal breakfast but you're not paying for anything else. A whisper quiet heating/cooling unit and yes a motel built in 1971 is not sound proof. I don't think they planned on this being under a helicopter flight path nor is it there fault when kids run up and down the hall at 10 pm. If you're seeking the basics they do it very well. I'll be back again. An excellent value !

Do not stay here. Room was not clean someone craped in the trash can on the second floor. Homeless man staying in the stairwell. Man walking in the parking lot with a hatchet. Rooms very dated. This property should be torn down.

The room was nice. All you need . I like how they have an extra sink outside the restroom helps a lot to get ready. Restroom was nice and clean. Bed was good with pillows 7/10. The pool was nice ! Very clean cool to have an 8ft side to have a nice swim. The hotel has a good breakfast in the morning to calm hunger before you head out for breakfast. Staff was kind and fast service if you needed something. There is some small details of maintenance they have to take care. Like the fridge was not working at first. The ice machine was not working. The parking is small but nothing to worry a lot ! Unless you get hit by other people. 2 beds for $140 not bad ! Satisfied with my stay.

I rarely write reviews but this needs to be said as a warning for any one staying. If you don’t want a shower or bath, this place is for you. Do not stay at this hotel. It’s is gross. First room we received was not cleaned. Bathtub had studs, someone’s hair and fingernails left behind, and overall looked like vomit in the tub. I thought they used the bathtub as the secondary toilet. Get the picture? Never have I seen such a bad shower/tub combo. Managements fix was a new room. New room was cleaner but the room is in disrepair. It’s in a badly need of an update. Looks like they had a water leak and they didn’t repair the wall. Just used a plate and you can tell by the rest of the wall paper it’s ruined and the Floor is ruined too The service was okay. No A/C in common area. Location of the hotel is off the highway. Seems very loud because of the sliding glass door to the balcony. I hate that it has balconies because that’s a huge risk with little kids like I have and it’s a big air loss. You can stay warm by the window during the summer, I suppose. Expedia did us a solid since the management at the hotel refused to comp us. We received comp for future night at any hotel. Why I use Expedia.

White "bodily fluids" on the floor, and on all the furniture. Plus homeless people outside our door! They only make the beds they don't clean the rooms. Ecolab Science Certificate is most likely fake cause this place is not clean, they don't value guests. And a certificate of commitment! Because they're totally committed enough to clean the place. If you value your health steer clear from here

Great place on a budget. Got a deal online and this was the cheapest place to stay. Room had a balcony and was neat and clean. Plenty of room for all kinds of extra luggage. Front desk was polite and answered all my ?'s. The breakfast was lacking and could use some help but other than that no complaints.

Rooms were ok but having a balcony was the best part of the room. First room I was in had a door almost broken in half it looked like someone tried to kick it in but I upgraded and got a double bed instead which had a great view of the sunset and city at night.

This is a sad hotel. Our AC didn't actually cool the room. At 2am when we were done tossing and turning, we had to ask for a new room. We were given one but with a smaller bed. Both rooms feel extremely old. The breakfast is a joke (only different versions of bread and some packaged oatmeal). Will not return.

Rooms need serious maintenance floors were very dirty. Overall the hotel needs an upgrade, bathroom, beds, walls, furniture. Hot water took several minutes to get hot. No breakfast. Pool area also needed cleaning. The front desk staff was polite and helpful. I wouldn’t stay at this location again.

I was very happy. The room looked way better than some people have written or shown. In fact the room looked very good. The bed was very comfortable. They let me check my bags in early, and then let me check in early. The indoor pool was open with kids swimming. The area is in a little section of medical offices so it felt safe no locals really would be walking around. It is also walkable to the bus but you have to walk maybe a third of a mile to get the bus on rt 66. Breakfast was basically coffee and light snack. Hot shower, I had a little balcony and the guard rail is falling apart, moved about 3 inches when I put hand on it,, so don't let anyone on the balcony even a drunk adult could possibly fall.

We went just for the heated pool, but the pool was cold 🥶 the kids were looking forward to swimming in the morning in hopes it was warmer but then it didn't open on time. Check out is 12-Noon but the pool didn't open until 11:30🥺😔 The pool was the only reason we stayed here and we really couldn't use it. The heater in the room wasn't working the best, we got pretty cold because of the balcony doors. It was pretty noisy on the side where you get a view of the city because the sliding doors don't close that well. The hotel was also out of towels. If you stay here do prepare to have a hold for a deposit since they don't warn their guests before hand. I've stayed at plenty hotels and every single one has mentioned a deposit beforehand, not just at the time of checking in like this place. They do not have a breakfast. They only offer an apple, muffin, a chewy chocolate chip bar, coffee and juice. Parking here is the worst!!!!! Especially, when their employees are blocking the door area to unload luggage.

  • 3/5 Lunar 5 P. 1 year ago on Google
Staff was fine. But the pool has no posted hours. Apparently that weekend it was 10A-10P. But the sign inside the pool area said it was subject to change. Tile in the bathroom floor was cracked. Biggest thing is that they don't have breakfast anymore. Just coffee and granola bars. I don't know what the website says now, but when we booked, we thought we'd get breakfast. Also the odd numbered rooms are on the west side of the building facing the interstate, so that was. a bit loud, but better view. I would think the even numbered rooms are quieter, but not much view.

Horrible! If I could give a negative star I would. They said non smoking but it reeked of stale smoke. No bedspreads on the beds or anywhere in the room. Furniture looked like it had been picked up from the roadside. Toilet was so small. Looked like only kids could use it. My husband is close to 275, 300 pounds and couldn't use it.
