Really chic and clean. Came to check in late in the evening and got a glass of wine while I checked in. Who doesn't love that! Staff super friendly and helpful. Couldn't get ice for my travel cooler from regular ice dispenser but gentleman in the morning hooked me up with the bar ice...just over accommodating! Room was clean, open, lots of counter space, comfortable and the soap and shampoo was even awesome. My picky aunt even loved the place and was a little annoying but staff again was just nice and accommodating anyway. Pool looked cool and some rooms have balconies. I hope to have a longer stay next time I'm in the city. Only constructive criticism is the cleaning supplies were a bit strong and stayed on some of our clothes. I think I use the same environmentally friendly cleaner so I get it and felt assured room was clean but a little airing out or a travel candle would have made a big difference I think. Still...I'll be back!

Let me just preface that all of the employees working here are great and my complaint isn’t with any of them. This motel is nice, but it’s all surface-level. The showers in the room try to be modern but they lack functionality. All of the water seeps out of the shower, creating a hazardous puddle. The door to the room isn’t sealed all the way, so water came in from the outside when staff was cleaning — meaning we had another puddle of water in our room. The pool and lounge play music on most nights, which is fine, but some guests would prefer to go to bed earlier. They blast the music until 10pm but some of the locals hang around later — taking up parking spaces from the guests. On one day, the pool gate was left open (usually you have to scan a key card to get in) and it seemed like the pool was just overrun with locals. As others have mentioned, the check-in is the same area as the bar, so there needs to be more signage or an email sent to guests beforehand explaining this. There is also no one on-staff to help with issues during the day. We saw one person cleaning the outside areas (and they were lovely and helpful when we needed them) but no one ever answered the phone the entire time we were there. Before we checked-in, we tried calling the motel to request an earlier check-in and no one answered. Overall, this motel has potential but it only cares about gentrified vanity. I guess that’s what happens when Portland moves to ABQ.

Really really cute upgrade of a classic road motel. It was clean, fresh, and charming. It would serve them well to put in mini fridges. Our TV didn't work either but we were so close to fun things to do it didn't really matter. Welcome drinks at the bar were a great touch. Our room was GREAT but the windows above the front and patio door flood in TONS of artificial light so it was like sleeping with several lamps on and there were no available blinds or shades to correct it. Otherwise pretty darn cute and I would return.

The folks running this joint did a great job renovating, the rooms are great inside. They also include a free drink at their lounge. I was expecting a mini fridge in the room considering all the work they did to make it more modern. We had a late reservation and got a handicapped room, which was different and maybe needed a bit more attention to cleanliness in the shower area. I also suggest you bring your own tp, which sounds weird, but the stuff in our room was like 1/2 ply. Also, checking out was pretty confusing since there's no office and the note on the lounge door didn't help. Having said all that, we loved staying here, staff was great, drinks were great, and if we have to stay in Albuquerque again we will be coming back!

Updated, large rooms. The cocktail lounge is nice. Some room for improvement: - There are not any "do not disturb" signs in the room. - Given it's a motel with each room on the ground floor, the door needs more than than the electronic key locks. A chain lock or swing bar is necessary to feel more secure sleeping here. - There was a great event with local vendors and music down the street at El Vado, but we wouldn't have known about it if we hadn't walked by. Some cross promotion between the motels would've been nice. - Other reviews noting the lack of hot water are right. There is not enough hot water for a shower lasting more than 4-5 minutes.

Stayed here three nights and loved it. Small but sleek rooms. Located a short walk away from Old Town, the Aquarium/Botanical Garden, and a lot of restaurants. Hector was a fun bartender at the Momo Lounge located on the property. The only thing I'd criticize was the lack of a shower door which was a bit strange, but other than that everything was perfect.

We stayed at this motel before it was renovated under a new owner, and kind of wish the old owner was still there. Pros: great location, good water pressure, comfortable bed, linens and bathroom were very clean. Cons: our room wasn't vacuumed and there was garbage in the can, almost as if housekeeping stopped halfway. The hotel clerk was a bartender more interested in mixing drinks for patrons than in being a hotelier. When I came back to say the room key didn't work, she told me it was difficult and to ask my husband to do it "because he's stronger." Leaving aside the complete inappropriateness of that "advice," the issue was that unlike any other hotel key I've ever used, one has to hold the card against the lock screen with one hand while using the other hand to push down the door handle. No special strength required, just clear instructions. Oh, and you'll have to put down everything you're carrying. The renovation clearly prioritizes the lounge, because it removed a lot of the parking--kind of an odd thing for a Route 66 motor hotel. We were disappointed and won't stay at this property again.

What a gem of a find in a city hotels can be very expensive! Old Route 66 Motel turned into its modern version. Walkable to Old Town and short Uber ride to Nob Hill for fun dinners & bars. Bed was very comfortable, room was boho inspired and shower was large. Park right in front of room. We stayed two nights with no regrets!

Stayed here on our Rt 66 trip. The motel is tastefully updated and had an extremely comfy bed.

Very nice place to stay in what seemed to be a really nice area. Only reason I didn’t leave 5 stars was the weird shower. It’s nice and all but why no door or shower curtains??? I hope your floors are super water proof otherwise good luck in a few years after all the water seeps in below the floor surface.

When in Abq, we usually stay at chain hotels but we wanted a place close to Old Town so we decided to try an iconic Rt 66 hotel. The check in was a bit unusual as it was done at the lounge bar. Aside from that confusion, when we got to the room, it was spacious and clean. The decor was modern and the bed was comfortable. The only complaint I have is, I was quoted one rate but when I checked my credit card statement a day or 2 later, they charged me another (it was about a $20 difference). I called a couple days later to try and get the problem resolved. I was offered a complimentary drink but I don't live in NM and won't be back to NM for a few more months so I had to decline that. The person on the phone then told me a manager would call me back, but they never did. I would love to stay there again, but if I do, I'm going to make sure I have a receipt in hand with the proper charge on it.

The style and deco is really nice and different. Room was nearly unhealthy musty and damp smell. They need to fix that. No breakfast but go to the Central Grill and coffee house nearby. Way to expensive.

Nice renovated motel. The mattresses were super comfy, and the rooms were very clean. Doesn't seem to be large water heaters, so take a quick shower. Other than that, I liked it!

Very modernized vintage motel on Route 66 near Old Town. The room was very nice, but as others have posted, the lack of shower door causes a puddle and slip hazard. Sometimes you just need a good old fashioned shower curtain to do the trick. I wasn't personally bothered by the live music, but could see how it might irritate guests who have to sleep early. The taking up of guest parking spaces during the evening is another issue, as I was lucky enough to get the last space at the end of the motel, far from my room. Perhaps some guests weren't so lucky. Very nice pool setup. I would love to stay here again, great place.

This was the best motel I’ve ever been in I think. The bed was so comfortable I didn’t want to leave, and the room was so modern and clean. We didn’t get to use the shower but I’m sure that was great too. The outdoor pool was also so clean, and empty when we used it. Wish our stay was longer here!

Good place to stay for our Route 66 trip. Location near old town is great. Clean room, comfortable bed, nice staff. Loud Karaoke show (at least I hope it was Karaoke) going on in the outside lounge in the evening but it was quiet by 10pm.

This was a great find for us right on Route 66! (rooms fill up quickly so advise making reservations) The owners have taken the Monterey Motel and completely updated it to a very nice, contemporary place to stay! Take a look at the pictures, and see how large the room is! Great space with a nice couch and modern, up to date bathroom as well! Only 1 minor negative there was no microwave... when you consider what value you're getting at this motor lodge that was no biggie.

Recently renovated ‘30s motel, has character and fits right into the local Rt 66 vibe. Great location, walking distance to old town, parks by the rio grande, botanical gardens and excellent restaurants. Rooms are tastefully remodeled with all the creature comforts. The Momo lounge doubles as the reception area and has a great selection of cocktails, with good outdoor and indoor seating. Would definitely recommend.

Old Route 66 motel remodeled. Decor was wonderful, bed was very comfortable. The little amenities were nice--USB charging stations on each side of the bed, with a night light and a targeted reading light. Big TV, Xfinity service. SUPER CLEAN!

You must check this place out. We got the last room for $126. Make reservations in advance! This is an old Route 66?motel lovingly redone and done well. Minimalist rooms with local art. And they have a bar! Complimentary cocktail per room. Chauntine made us an excellent mojito! Nice pool which I wish we’d had time to use. Stay and play!!

Loved our stay here! The bed was very comfortable, room was a good size, and my kiddo loved the color-changing pool. The staff was super friendly, and location was great.

We loved this place! I'm usually OUT when someone mentions a motel, but this motel was clean, updated and had so much character! Kimberly at MoMo was great too! She was full of energy and super friendly. We had a great experience!

Stayed 2 nights here which was very nice!! This is a "sister" motel to the El Vado which was within walking distance. The lobby/bar area was very nice and the room well decorated and very clean and comfortable. Joe at the front desk was very nice and helpful at Check-in. The Guest Service area is closed and locked at night, so get your ice early.

For the price I paid for one night.... I expected a little bit more I guess. We stayed in a family room that sleeps 8-10 people. There were 5 or 6 towels available - no extras available for pool use, however we did have 5 bath mats?? I found the hand soap dispenser was empty upon our arrival.... And only coffee for two, with one of the cups appearing to have already been used.... Two of the lights and outlets near two of the bunk beds did not work. Each bunk bed has a cubby space that closes and locks- however some where locked and no key available. When I went into the lobby to check out I found the lady surfing the web for coupons. Oh, and the ice machine was out of order. Honestly the property has the potential to be bad a**, however there is a true lack of care or attention to details - or something. I would have rather spent my $250/night elsewhere.

What I liked: - Super cute, updated motel. - Beautiful on-site lounge area (I didn’t have a chance to go but would have liked to.) - Clean rooms. - Trendy neighborhood with lots to do. What I didn’t like: - Rooms are (half) carpeted (eww). - Temperature in room was hot when we arrived and took several hours to cool down (in hot weather AC should be left on prior to guest arrival). - Bathroom door is super-sticky and hard to open/close. (As if it’s been painted over too many times.) - Shower has modern glass wall that doesn’t close the shower area in completely and allows water to get all over the floor. No way to adjust for this not to occur. (Overall I liked this place and would consider returning despite the handful of minor flaws.)

Super cute motel. Pool was nice. Lounge area had a real awesome atmosphere. Rooms were cute. I would say that hot water runs out quickly and if food is by the front door, ants will come in. But other than that, great stay!

I've stayed at the sister motel- El Vado and loved it. The Monterey is even better. Great staff, small but fantastic lounge. Rooms are Tom notch.

They turned a former Route 66 motel into a very nicely-modern designed motel/hotel. Rooms tastefully furnished, great pool, in walking distance to the old city.

We loved this motel! Very stylish remodel and the complementary drink at this bar was top-notch. Everything is thoughtful and well-designed and in walking distance to some great shops and restaurants, as well as Historic Old Town. The only issue we had was that we tried to call on a few occasions for booking and later for details and were always kicked over to their sister motel the El Vado. Also, when we tried to check-in we ended up having to walk over to the El Vado because the there was a "We'll be back sign" on the Monterey's door. The staff at the El Vado were able to help, but it would be less confusing if they streamlined their customer service to represent both motels or provide a different number for each one. It just needlessly complicated the process, though still worth the great stay!
