You can get a free slice of pizza next door if you buy a pint here on Tuesdays.

Spent a night in town and went for a drink, it was slow with two bartenders so service was fast. However, the bar tenders idle chatter about the women walking in and out of the bar made me wonder if I'd wandered into a frat house swapping stories about who they'd taken home drunk. I'm no prude but it's unprofessional at best, I feel bad for the women who were clearly regulars and won't be back.

I can't describe how perfect the vibes are here... For a drink in the afternoon by the bar or trivia night with the squad this spot will be perfect. Plus all the concerts!!! They are a staple in the Louisville music scene!!!

Bartender was rude and disliked being asked questions. Very unwelcoming energy from staff and patrons. Bartender was annoyed that I didn't want to leave a tab running and was here for the bands and to drink water. Low energy posers who were trying to hard to be edgy. Second review: Huge improvement from the first time I came here. All the staff I encountered were chill and friendly. The bands were great and the atmosphere was positive!

An eclectic place for metal heads and music lovers all around The level of entertainment they bring in is spectacular and you'll always be ready to dance and have fun. Go in the back if you want to relax in the open air environment or hang out in the metal bar in the front and rock your butt off. What a wonderful place to go. I always try to get there when I'm in town.

Great little place for a drink. Have a great selection of beers. No kitchen but can have pizza brought in by the place next door. Has an area in the back for bands.

Every guy in this place has on pennyloafers, and there is at least one curse word on his t-shirt. I dont belong here. Being in here without a beard makes me feel like a shivering new born foal. I'm in the corner awkwardly staring at the shirtless bartender s muscles. Drinks are reasonably priced and service is friendly. This is probably the coolest bar in Louisville.

THE perfect corner bar! And an AWESOME little live music venue. Great beer selection too.

They have a pizza place next door and the pizza was really simple but delicious. The bartenders were great, the place was clean, neighborhood was quaint (not scrappy as some reviews implied) and I just can't say enough about the place. I wish we had a place like it in St.Louis. I'll miss it dearly.

Look. You should know what you’re getting even before you step into Mag Bar. The people are great., don’t get me wrong. But as my friend has said, “you could get more freaky things from its bathroom than from Grindr. I would go back, what can I say. Sometimes, you just want a dive.

I never truly understood what a dive bar was until mag bar. Yes it's not the cleanest bar I've ever been too, but I've never seen bugs or other rodents in my months of visits. The bartenders go out of their way to know your name and remember your drink. I've been here when it's busy and I've received the same service as I would going to a busy bar in bardstown road. I've never once received bad service on a busy or slow night. I love coming to this bar because again, the bartenders are very personable. This bar has vintage arcade games, a stage for bands, a dart board, and a tv to everyone's extent. Rarely sports are played on the tv. More than likely you're going to walk in to see the tv on some funny YouTube videos or a Netflix series chosen by a customer. I recommend going here because of my fave bartenders Cory and Jeremiah. They pour heavy and will always have your back.

For a close neighbor of this putrid dive it's not where I want to live around, the insanely drunk and beligerent patrons stumble out in the community.. alcohol most definitely is taken from the bar and thrown in our yards and the same upstanding drunkards use our yards as thier personal toilet and yell and scream until the early hours... not to mention any events will surely have homeowners several blocks away from our homes because there is no place for parking.. my first and only time I went inside it was dark and narrowly dodged dog poo....yes, Inside

The penultimate dive bar. The jukebox is legendary. The beer selection is second to none. Prices cannot be beat. Worth a diversion if you're anywhere in the area

Cheap drinks, pleasant bartenders who remember the name your tab is under, good music. What more can you ask for in a bar? Also lots of fun events and good crowd. I go alone a lot and I can find people to watch my drink so I can use the bathroom no problem. Can't ask for a better neighborhood bar.

Some places are awesome for the opposite reasons of regular places. MagBar is one of those places. This place is like the CB/GB of Louisville. It is non-apologetically metal AF. A must visit or maybe your worst fear depending on your personality. I recommend it, so that probably says something about me! 😂

Friendly service, good place for a night cap... can be pretty loud - but that is expected because there is a venue attached. Good prices. Dog friendly.

I was just here for a concert and have to give major props to this venue! Great selection of beers, awesome staff, and great sound for its size. I'd recommend checking out shows that stop here in the future!

Favorite bar in the city. My dog loves it as much or more than I do!! We can't walk past without him wanting to go inside. The staff and customers here are always amazing.

Killer music venue. You love rock? The answer is simple: Mag Bar. Just don't drive your car into the front window, please.

Great hangout spot, as it has been for the last 18 years. Crawfish boil was great and super affordable.

The bar and location itself was fine. It was my first time there though, and I waited against the bar to close my tab. There was zero indication of where to wait at, so I leaned against the bar and indicated I needed assistance. I understand there was no line to wait in, and so I understand why several people were helped before me. But it got to a point where I was clearly ignored.... I dont know why. When I was finally noticed, I did not say anything about it, but was talked to like I was being a huge inconvenience. I never complained, but the bar staff acted like I was a nuisance and stupid. I understand that I dont know what it is like working a bar, but the attitude I received once they realized I was not noticed was uncalled for..... I won't be back.

Bartenders were great and the vibe was as expected based on show flyers and branding. Expect cigarette smoke.

This is an interesting spot to say the least. It's cool they have the pizza place right next door and someone always ends up asking me to play darts with them which I'm a fan of. I don't go often but it appears they have shows fairly often and they have a nice outside patio to chill on. check em out!

Generally, I love magbar. It is in a great location in Old Louisville The drinks have always been strong and well priced and the staff there is really great when it comes to accepting patrons! There's a back patio for the warmer seasons and there's a lot of interesting bands that play there and just events overall

What a great bar! I was in town on a layover and walked probably 45 minutes before finding a bar that was open. This was because of the holiday, Labor Day. The bar staff were very welcoming and friendly. This bar is not an official gay bar but is LGBTQ friendly. With a big TV and movies playing I hung out while drinking my favorite beers. I left at closing which was between 2-2:30am and made it back to my hotel safe & sound. Thanks for a great first time guys! I will be back!

Attended a Night Between party for Metallica's performances at Louder Than Life put on by the wonderful fellas at Metal Up Your Podcast. Great drinks. Great atmosphere. Quality service. Kept the metal music going loud. Also live music. Plus, the pizza joint next door delivers your food to the bar.
