This place was so beautifully decorated! The food was pretty good! I loved my Octopus and my son really liked his meatballs! The drinks were okay but the menu was extensive and I really had never heard of any of the drinks on the menu but they were strong drinks! The prices were fair compared to its upscale atmosphere! The service was really good as well. Everyone was really friendly here. I loved taking pictures here because of the decor! 🔥

This place was recommended by a local. It's a really cool concept with potential. The energy was way off though the night we visited. The valet couldn't drive a stick shift. We got there early as recommended, to order a cocktail while perusing the art and waiting for our table. It was slow, but the bartenders borderline rudely ignored us. After we said there for 4-5 minutes, we finally called someone standing there doing nothing to help us. They were both unhelpful with cocktail choices and selections when asked about local bourbons in our drinks. The menu was limited, exotic and expensive. Our waiter was friendly, but extremely scarce, forgot to take our order. Didn't ask if we wanted another round of drinks. We had to ask someone else to find him for him for our check and a box. Won't go back.

When you step inside the restaurant, the vibe that it gives off is this kind of artsy hipster meets fancy dining. I love how this restaurant gives the waiters and waitresses the freedom to dress how they want and not make them wear a uniform. I love how simple the menu is and it kind of gives you the impression that the restaurant will cater to foodies with a sophisticated palate. But it seems as if they failed...epically. As we were going over the menu we found ourselves to not be so excited. We were pretty underwhelmed by what was on the menu. The highlight of our experience was the appetizers. We started off with some cornbread and duck appetizers which were divine. However everything else that came after was such disappointment. The duck entree was so unappetizing that I had to send it back. The plating for the bison burger was just unappetizing. It looked as if a cafeteria lady had just slapped together a burger and fries. Where is the locally made greens? (or just any greens for that matter) On a positive note, the customer service was just outstanding and our waitress was the absolute best. They provided us with complimentary carrots (which we were also were not pleased with as well but they were complimentary, so....🤷‍♀️). Overall I was not impressed by Proof on Main.

The food is consistent and tasty. The service was fast and the server was efficient. Can be a romantic atmosphere for a date or just a cool spot for dinner. You could start with appetizers at the bar before your reservation, go to the restaurant for dinner, and then walk the museum.

Trendy colorful location that brings art, class and a modern flare. Large bar and separate dining area with a menu full of unique pairings of flavors across the board. Highly highly recommend the charred octopus it is to die for. Great location for a lunch before distillery tours or just a tour of mains Street and the slugger museum. Located in the 21c hotel first floor with street visible signs.

Amazing. The food was superb. Although I felt the dessert was a bit too much. Too many textures in one plate although the peanut butter ice cream was so creamy and flavourful. Our waiter was also very attentive and gave great recommendations for bourbon and the ambience in the restaurant is 200%. Definitely go for the tour of the rest of the gallery!!

The art was neat. That is all I have for a good review. The brunch menu was lacking of any variety. Two of us had biscuits and gravy and they messed that up somehow. The biscuits were sweet and undercooked. The gravy supposedly had chili in it, but there was no chili flavor and who puts chili in, on, or around biscuits and gravy?! Then they put the eggs on top of that. They wanna act like they are a fancy restaurant, but my guess is the head chef has either never had biscuits and gravy or has never tasted what's coming out of their kitchen. The third person in our party had the nicoise salad. The tuna was overcooked (it should be seared with a cool center and instead it was a warm center and pourly seared), and the beans had the non-edible tips on it. They also had fingerling potatoes in it that they just cut in half and barely cooked. The coffee was okay, but they couldn't keep our cups filled and it was $4. This isn't Starbucks. The appetizer was the only thing we liked and still it came out in a searing hot iron skillet so that the octopus became overcooked and chewy by the time it was at a temperature we could eat it. We dropped $90+ for a brunch for three ppl that nobody finished bcz it was just bad. We won't go here again

Among my favorite “night on the town” spots in Louisville. Attached the 21c hotel and art gallery(a must and for free), the restaurant & bar posses unique decor with gourmet meals. We had the No Spectators and LID at the bar which were superb, would recommend

AMAZING restaurant! I can’t say enough incredible things about this place. This is the second time we’ve been here (last time was in September on a different trip to Louisville). Brand new menu tonight, and Alex was super patient with us and very knowledgeable. Homemade tonic makes amazing gin and tonics. Top 3 dishes are kefta appetizer with layered flavors all coming together well, citrus mousse for dessert was divine, and side dish cauliflower that had a sauce that was out of this world. We will come back here every time we come to town.

Look, this place is everything you can come to expect yes from fine dining and they do it well. I can understand that it is connected to an art museum but the wall paper is kinda hard to look at and the walls seem crowded. Also not sure about the eye level mirror. But the over all experience if it was possible I'd say is worthy of a Michelin star or a Bronze court crest. Keep up the great food guys

We were strolling downtown Louisville, and we stopped by this restaurant. They were transitioning from Brunch and had a small menu, and we decided to try it out. First, the whole place is a gallery of art! Is fantastic! Second, from the host to the servers, everyone was friendly and very attentive! Third, the food came out, and it was AMAZING!!! The flavors and combinations were great. Totally recommend this place, and the cherry on the top is connected to a back art gallery!!!

The food here is amazing! The charred octopus for a starter was delicious. The grilled pork chop was cooked to perfection. The cornbread was the best I’ve ever had. It could have actually been a dessert. Great whisky list. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Be sure to walk around in the lobby and check out the art. Highly recommend.

Wow! If I could give this more stars, I would! We had tomato appetizer, Caesar salad, and ribeye. Each was unique in flavor and prep like none we had before and were just scrumptious!!! The decor was artsy and fun! The service was a 10! Awesome!! Which we lived closer, then we’d go here frequently.

Brittney made sure I tried the best items on the menu! The Bison burger was amazing...full of flavor. I had the salad instead of fries to balance things out. The Gold Rush was a nice drink to start off my trip in KY.

My experience was perfection. The cocktails, food, and service were wonderful. I started with the Rye Rye Birdie cocktail. It was very well done. I tried three of their 21c select pours suggested by the waiter and bar manager My favorite was the Willett 14 year bourbon. I highly recommend dining here. Each course was made with fresh, high quality ingredients.

I liked it, but was a little disappointed. I heard the octopus was great, and I’m a huge octopus fan, but it wasn’t great. The salmon was ok, the pork chop pretty good, though I have had better examples of both for less. The banana tart was an unexpected winner.

We ate here twice. The first time was good but nothing to write home about. The bison burger had good flavor but the fries were off. The second night, the food was excellent! Our waitress was fantastic! She interacted with all of us- asking us questions and answering our questions. The staff is all friendly and helpful too.

One of the most chic restaurants I've ever dined at. The fact that you can eat a yummy meal and then check out an entire art gallery all in the same place is amazing. Staff was kind and prompt with our food. The food itself was high quality and at a decent price. Would really recommend everyone giving this place a shot.

The atmosphere was pretty cool. Felt very boujie. Service was good. Good selection of bourbon. The charred octopus starter was really great, which is a shame because the mains were just okay. The crispy salmon was good, but the lentils and risotto were nothing special. One of us should have got the duck. Overall I thought it was just a little too pricey. I would come here again for the atmosphere, drinks, and that octopus.

Excellent bar service and mixology. Our bartender handled herself with class and expertise during the busy brunch hour, while making conversation, offering drink order suggestions, and keeping pace with the endless drink orders! First class all the way, would definitely recommend for drinks, a night out, or brunch! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fine food with an excellent staff. Reasonably sized lunch portions that tasted hand-crafted, not like a pub or a chain place would churn out. All meals, even kids meals, were presented professionally. Restaurant has access to the hotel and its art exhibit.

The food was amazing. Presented well with a really nice atmosphere. I had brunch and the biscuit and gravy was perfect. Their pimento cheese spread is great too. It is pricey but you get what you paid for. Kept pur water filled and was fast to bring our food.

It’s a great place to eat but left a little to Be desired my second visit. I don’t know if it was before a shift change or what, but the server was not very hospitable nor did she really know the menu very well. To me dining out all depends on the service given along with the food quality & value.

We decided to stopped at this restaurant after we left the Derby, and I’m glad we did. The food was great! My bf ordered the steak and I ordered the cordon bleu…we started with the octopus and let me tell you, it was delicious! If you like garlic which I do! I would absolutely recommend the grilled octopus. The cordon bleu comes with mashed potato, very creamy and a white sauce that absolutely complemented the plate. The steak cooked to perfection and so good! It comes with carrots and broccoli…also, comes with a great chimichurri sauce! My boyfriend ordered a bourbon drink he loved and I ordered the French bottle of wine. Service and ambiance A+ If you like art, this restaurant it’s connected to a small gallery. When in Louisville, go to the Proof for a magnificent experience

Great menu, wine list, atmosphere. Our waitress was very inexperienced, this the knock on the service. But the wine guy was awesome, so we ordered a 2012 Barolo and a few local bourbons.

This is a great restaurant in Louisville, and candidly, one of the best I have eaten in, period. The menu is inventive without trying hard, the ingredients are fresh, plentiful and always shine in every dish. I cannot recommend this place more. It is a 'must go to' destination in Louisville.

Wow! I can honestly say this is the best meal I have ever had in my life! We loved the charred octopus so much that we ordered seconds. I have eaten in plenty of high end restaurants in my lifetime, and many amazing hidden gems. Proof on Main is hands down the best food I have ever experienced. Every single dish was put together with well thought out complimentary ingredients. The decor was on point, the service was top notch. Everything was perfection.

Came for a work dinner and had a great time. Service was fantastic, food delicious, and everyone was patient with all of our chatting. Definitely will bring guests here again.

Wonderful service, food, and beverages -- all of the recommendations were delicious, including cocktails that weren't listed on the menu (so, don't be shy to ask). The cornbread mash with the pork (which was very tender and perfectly cooked) was unique and scrumptious!

This restaurant screams Decor with very artful and contrasting colors. Great dining experience for 6 or less. I highly recommend the Duck Breast, while my co-diners enjoyed the Bison Burger. If your male checkout the 2 way mirror waterfall in the bathroom. It's a trip!

Definitely recommend for brunch! Had the "No Spectators" and my friend had the "Chai Fidelity"- both cocktails were fantastic! For meals we had the fruit and nut granola, hearty breakfast has, and the fried chicken sandwich. ALL amazing! As if that wasn't enough, they served me a butternut squash cheesecake for my birthday. OMG- everything was so so so so good. Oh and the bar area had one of the Pappy bourbons and a bottle of the "Handy". The museum made any wait we had for our table more than worth our time.

Great food and fun atmosphere. Fantastic bourbon selection and attached to a cool art gallery that we roamed around in. Celebrated my birthday in a private room with 20 of my best friends! Best is we got a special penguin and bear to dine with us too.

We saw great online reviews of this place, so we gave it a try. We ordered Manhattan, Old Fashion, and Mint Juleps. The whiskey cocktails were alright, nothing special. You do have higher expectation, when you’re in Kentucky, whiskey cocktails should be top notch. Oh well, not here, sorry. We ordered grilled octopus, which was fishy. A total disappointment, especially for a nice restaurant like this one. The waiter did offer to change it into something else, but she told us “this is our most popular dish, and we’d never received any complaints, can you tell us why you don’t like it?” That was not a very nice question. We order grilled octopus all the time, one of our favorite food. That’s not a very nice treatment we’ve received. Anyway, we ordered other food, and they were all average. Nice atmosphere, so so service and average food.

Oh, the absolute joy of dining at Proof! We celebrate our anniversary every year by staying at the 21c Museum Hotel and enjoying the ambrosial meals and cocktails at Proof. For our 27th anniversary, the staff went above & beyond making our night feel extra special. The host Xander, and our waiter Mitchell, were immensely sweet and kind. So much so that I wanted to hug and kiss them both on the cheek, but did not want to overextend my lack of boundaries onto others. 😊 As always, our dinner was sublime. We enjoyed the beef tartar, the lemon essence, and the nasturtium leaves added to the loveliness of the dish. The pappardelle was freshly made and the swordfish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The desserts were phenomenal; I especially loved the spiced molasses cake, heavenly! We are so grateful for your generosity in making our 27th such a memorable one! May we have 27 more anniversaries at Proof on Main & 21c!

Just walking in, it was wonderful. The host was wonderful and we were seated despite being about thirty minutes early for our reservation. The server was incredibly helpful and nice, and the other servers were also wonderful. Our waters were never empty and the food was delivered quickly. The octopus and fried mushrooms were delicious on top of looking fantastic. When asked about drinks, we told her we weren’t able to get alcohol and she immediately offered to make us non-alcoholic drinks as a solution. The drinks were fantastic. We then got the foccocia bread, which was fresh and soft, along with our entrees. We got the swordfish and the berkshire porkchop, both of which were absolutely fantastic. Presentation and taste were on point. We then got the butterscotch budino, which was on the house as a gift for our anniversary, and it was wonderful. We were also checked on quite often by several servers and members of staff, and everyone was wonderful. We spent $150 on everything. Overall, a very, very nice experience. I definitely recommend it for anybody celebrating something special.
