We have seen this place on Diners Drive-Ins and doves but have never made it in town to eat there. On Saturday night my brother-in-law and his girlfriend recommended we go. So the four of us loaded up came to town and enjoyed a fantastic meal and experience! We started with around of Guinness and several appetizers followed with entrees and dessert! Service food atmosphere and experience all were fantastic.

Food came out so fast and the cottage pie was cold inside. Bangers and mash gravy tasted like package gravy. The banana pudding was nice with a strong wood taste from the alcohol. It was like I was in a wooden barrel. No sign or an Irish breakfast which I would of love to of ordered.

I got take out, but was able to go in to see the vibes! I loved all of the Ireland memorabilia, and the atmosphere. As for the food, not bad! We came here on a roadtrip (hitting a bunch of DDD locations). The scotch egg was incredible, and so was the Guinness chocolate cake! The mashed potatoes are definitely bland, but are a solid base for the meals. Another star of the show was the Dijon mayo (it had mustard seeds in it too). The fish and chips was crispy and yummy, and the bangers were solid. 100% you should order the scotch egg though!! I wish I could have tried the lamb cabbage rolls, because I’ve heard great things about them! Unfortunately, they were sold out before we arrived. Next time!

This restaurant is my go to!!! Food is amazing, service is fantastic, and the owner is truly an Irish gentleman. He greets me warmly every time I visit with a friendly pat on the back. As a sales manager I appreciate the genuine warmth and character of The Irish Rover and recommend it to anyone looking for good food and drinks!!!

My husband and I have been here a couple of times now, and each time has been such a joy. The restaurant itself has such an old pub feel, is clean, and has plenty of eating room and a cool bar. The menu has something for pretty much everyone and everything we've had so far is absolutely delicious. The bangers and mash was by far the best I've ever had and my husband absolutely loves their scotch eggs. Definitely perfect for a date night, hang with the coworkers, or a family lunch.

Amazing food, the best Guinness around, friendly staff, reasonable prices, cozy Irish pub atmosphere. They have THE best fish and chips. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out!

We went after my girlfriend had a craving for scotch eggs. They turned out a little dry and disappointing, though I did enjoy the cottage pie. I think this might be my favorite Irish pub in Louisville. I haven’t tried them all , but so far this has the best combination of drinks, food, and ambience. Not too dark, quiet enough for a conversation, and fast and friendly service.

Delicious, well-prepared food. From appetizer to dessert, everything was wonderful. Our waitress was friendly and professional and service was prompt, even though they were quite busy when we got there. Of all the restaurants we tried while in Louisville, the Irish Rover was by far my favorite.

Really yummy food!! Sticky toffee pudding was not as good as sticky toffee pudding from Scotland but 🤷🏼‍♀️ Cottage pie was really yummy!! Bubbles and squeak was delicious!

Had lunch there today. Amazing food and drinks. Staff was courteous and attentive. I was attracted to this place after seeing it on Diners Dives and Drives and it did not disappoint. I recommend 10 out of 10!!

One of our favorites. Our first experience was at the Lagrange location, which sadly closed many years ago. I love this small taste of Ireland. My only regret is we can't eat here more often (distance). Try the fish and chips, bangers and mash, or Irish beef stew. With any of these you won't go wrong. Many menu dishes to satisfy every palate.

So much to say… the appetizer was great, Benedictine. The main courses, smoked salmon gratin and cottage pie were both amazing. We were beyond stuffed after eating those, but had to indulge in the raspberry trifle for dessert… perfection in dessert form. Five stars no question. Plan to visit!!!

I like to say this place was great! The food was pretty good. The inside of the building really made me feel like I was in a pub and the colors and pictures on the walls were amazing! The waitress was really great and checked in often for my cousins and I. Anyone that wants to get good Irish Pub food I would say check this place out. The Fish and Chips were great!

The food was fabulous! The owner was very nice and came and visited with us, and we chatted about experiences, going home for vacations, how I have moved all around, and life in general. He definitely knows what it takes to be an owner and connect with his customers. We had the guinness beef stew and fish and chips, both were great! We were so full that we decided dessert would have to be another visit 😋. Prices were very reasonable and affordable (average $15pp). Highly recommend this establishment for any dinner or/or occasion!

Great Irish pub. Personal favorite if I'm wanting a good pint of something across the pond. Their fritters are top notch and don't sleep on the guinness beef stew. Have a day!

Definitely a member of Flavortown, from the homemade ranch to the fresh tasting fish and chips. Quaint and comfortable. A great place to chill and enjoy some yummies!

Great place to eat! Bangers and mash are delicious. Scotch egg is the best appetizer we have had in a long time. My wife was very happy for her first time trying good Irish food.

Awesome atmosphere and great food. The staff was friendly and attentive and we felt very welcome and part of the family. We started with Bubble and Squeak which was yummy and flavorful—much beyond what I expected. My wife had the fish and chips. The fish was light and flaky and the batter was crispy. Made to perfection. The portions were generous. I had the bangers and mash. There were four good sized sausages and a PILE of mashed potatoes and gravy. The sausages all by themselves were a bit bland, but had a very fine grind texture so they were smooth and creamy in the mouth. However, when joined with the potatoes and gravy, the flavor was pure comfort food heaven. This place has a true pub atmosphere and feels like the old country. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants an authentic pub experience with good food!

Cosy atmosphere, servive and food was excellent. We've tried several places since our return from England 4 yrs ago looking for some authentic Bangers & Mash and Fish & Chips The Irish Rover kicked it out of the park, hitting every expectation. It's a shame we live 6 hrs away.

Drinks and food were good. Husband loved the Guinness beefstew. Scotch egg was different than any others I have tried. It was covered in a sausage layer, then battered and fried. Decor definitely felt spot on.

Always a joy to eat at Irish Rover. I tend to try something new every time I go. I recommend the garlic mushrooms, fish and chips, and bailey's cheesecake for anyone unsure of what to order. Great food, great atmosphere, great staff, my favorite go-to restaurant.

Today was the first time there we absolutely loves the food...the servies was amazing. The only thing that was wrong was issues with parking...but we will be back. Missing from the pics are fish & chips, a piece of bailey's cheesecake (the best cheesecake ever) & chocolate guiness cake

My son and his fiancee reserved a table for our families to meet, discuss the upcoming wedding, and just enjoy each other's company. The service and food was great, but the end of the evening was a shocker. We knew the table had reservations for a group right after us and as we were preparing to wrap up the evening, a "manager" butted in by collecting the silverware while telling us it was time for us to go home and go to bed!! I was appalled at this and can only imagine how my son felt! There are better ways to ask your customers to vacate the table for the next party; this treatment was rude and uncalled for! I've been to this restaurant before and have never been treated this way here or anywhere else!! I would appreciate a response from the owners concerning the occurrence. I do know I will not be visiting this restaurant ever again!!!

Overall amazing experience! Me and my boyfriend loved this. Mostly friendly staff, great food, and good atmosphere. It was very loud inside tho which may overwhelm some people tho.

What a great place!! My family and I ate dinner here on St. Patrick's Day, so it was quite busy with a delay in getting seated in spite of a reservation. But the service and the food were excellent (best fish'n'chips I've had in a long time)! Enjoyed the decorations including pics of Ireland scattered around the restaurant. We will definitely return!
