Very laid back with a mixed crowd. Live sports on the televisions , a couple arcade games , pool tables , big bar and delicious food. Definitely worth a visit. The bombers are delicious and a must try. Great environment if you wanna get out the house and chill somewhere other than home

This used to be my favorite neighborhood restauarant/bar. What has happened?? I cannot clear door security, and if I do, they randomly approach me later over silliness, such as bag checks, pocket checks (!) what the heck? Giving my business to the competitor ig. BTW. We all know Midcity Mall has sold and is due to be torn down. Maybe the establishments should welcome my business instead of triggering a word of mouth reputation. RIP BD

Since the passing of the owner John, it's been very hard to go back into the The Back Door. But eventually I did and the new staff is amazing. The wings are still the best in Louisville that's for sure. I still love the Backdoor and always will.

Could have used a 3rd bartender due to how busy it was during our visit. My hot wings were on par. 2nd time I've been here, satisfied both times. I rarely cross the river but will be here again to come to this gem of a hole in the wall.

Drinks.... bomb! Food bomb! Atmosphere.. bomb!

I had heard great things about the dry rub wings here so I decided to give it a go. The person who answered the phone was a bit rude. There were multiple items we were wanting to order that were either sold out (it was 7pm) or no longer offered. We ended up ordering dry rub cajun wings, jalapeño poppers and a quesadilla. The only thing that got finished was the quesadilla, which was nothing special but it was decent. The wings were horribly over cooked and dry. The jalapeño poppers were chewy and tasted old. We paid a bit over $30 so it wasn’t horribly expensive but definitely still wasn’t worth what we paid.

Laid back atmosphere l, drinks are well-priced. I’ve never had a bad time here. It’s a dive bar, but it’s always fun and everyone is nice and the bartenders are great and everyone loves their food!

We had a great time. I visited Louisville with a friend and we basically just wanted to hang out in a bar before going to dinner. I have to say it is a unique place! The staff was super funny even do they were also super busy. The guests were very communicative and I'd didn't took long that we were in the middle of conversations and laughter. We had a few drinks and beer as well as some fried pickles and wings. Overall the price is reasonable and it's a great bar to get entertained.

I always have a good time whenever I come but this place could use some SERIOUS remodeling. They layout is super weird. I always have fun tho. Could def use more seating and needs a SERIOUS deep cleaning.

Loved this cute dive bar!!! Had fun playing pool! Drinks were awesome...and so were the french fries! Great atmosphere! Definitely will return! Highly recommend!

Went to the back door after not visiting for a while and it has changed. The crowd is different, the music is different, and the vibe is different. The food is still good and it's still a good spot to go grab a drink. I just missed seeing the "usuals".

Food was great. Bartender was awesome. I asked if she could make a jalapeno margarita and she hooked me up. Ruben Sandwich was outta this world.

I've been going to The Back Door for seriously over 30 years! Time changes a bunch of things but not them, heavy pours and great bar food! It's simply a Kentuckian right of passage. Get the dry rubbed wings extra crispy with buffalo sauce on the side and thank me later.

Every time we come to Louisville we stop by the back door! Awesome staff and the food is absolutely amazing! Highly recommend the bombers - we order them every single time and have not been disappointed yet.

A 5 star dive bar for sure. This was our first time there and it won’t be our last. From the moment we walked in the door until we left the hospitality was an A+. The drinks were strong pour and the food was great. Rachel could tell we were new and did a great job taking care of us behind the bar. Shana did a great job checking up on us. You need a touch tunes….just saying.

First time in, and came with friends for Happy Hour, and then stayed for a few games of pool. Great crowd, and the folks behind the bar were very enjoyable! Well done and we’ll be back!

You have to be 21 to enter but you will find the best boneless wings you’ve ever had. The special today was the pork and pineapple carnitas and they were also delicious! A must try.

The back door has been around for I don’t know how long. We used to go there, for the great drinks - they used to give us double shots of everything; especially the Long Island Ice Tea. The food is still solid, but not as good as I remember it. The pool table still functions well, but not the same as the memory of old.

We walked in to get some food not knowing it was 21 & over. The lady with the short hair was rude as could be, told us we should t be blocking the door way, to go outside and order and they will bring the food to us, just because my boyfriends ID was expired but clearly said when he was 21. She could’ve definitely handled the situation better or been nicer I will never come back here nor recommend it to anyone . Customer service was awful and it stunk like armpits inside!

My wife and I came here strictly for the food because of how good we were told it is. The food is fantastic, especially for a bar. Get the Bombers for the appetizer, you won't regret it.

Absolutely LOVE the Back Door. A Louisville institution. Old, young, in-between - great drinks, delicious food options, plenty of tables, pool tables, games. Loved this place for well over 20 years.

The service was atrocious, being ignored for 3 full minutes while two different lady bartenders walked back and forth in front of me, pouring their own drinks and drinking with other customers instead of helping me wsitung to buy a drink. At least she gave me a free coke for being ignored. Then the cook employee who took my quesadillas order never smiled, and was pretty gruff, not personable at all, and then 10 minutes later saw me and asked me what I had ordered cause he forgot both my name and what I ordered! That being said, the billiards atmosphere and music was fun and cozy, and the chicken quesadillas and fries were quite delicious - not amazing, but delicious.

Neighborhood pub with the best late night food in town. I love the white chili and also the salt & Pepper wings. Crispy yet tender and a big portion. The burger also gets special mention. Can’t go wrong here, they serve late.

Atmosphere is fun and suits the purpose. We order takeout the majority of the times and we love the lemon pepper wings. Sometimes it's hit and miss the first time they were cooked perfectly with adequate amount of seasoning. The 2 times after they were fried too hard and not as much seasoning. It was still hot and made to order the consistency is slightly off. Fried mushrooms are amazing here!

Food is A+, from salads, wings, fresh soups of the day- don’t forget to special of the day!

The backdoor is a wonderful place. You never know what kind of night it's going to be when you arrive but it will always be a good one. Good drinks and good food. After 10 some nights may be extremely busy but their quality or service doesn't suffer.

Felt very uncomfortable 😕 it was my first time here and my last... as soon as we walk in everyone looked at us. Then my boyfriend walks to ask if there is a drink menu (which let me say it's our first time) the tall blonde in a hat says no its whatever you like, and then proceeds to frown like he was bothering her. Very unpleasant, unprofessional. Made me very uncomfortable. We walked out. Never being served.
