Disappointed. Went for dinner. Atmosphere was great. Cocktails were excellent. Service started out great, then we never saw her again. Menu was very small. Only 5 entree options. I had the southern fried chicken. Breading great, chicken dry and overcooked. Potatoes tasteless. We had a reservation for 3. Called to ask if we could make it 5. They said no. Telling people 1 1/2 hour wait when we got there. Restaurant was 1/2 empty the whole time we were there. Not the best experience.

I had the pleasure of dining at Porch Kitchen & Bar, and I enjoyed my experience. My first piece of advice would be to make a reservation. On the weekend, it seemed like they were quite busy, and as a walk-in, it took around thirty minutes for a table. Once seated, the food was spectacular. I highly recommend trying the chicken and waffles – a delightful combination of flavors and textures. And don't leave without indulging in their cinnamon roll; it's an absolute must-try. Despite the initial wait, the delicious food and the overall dining experience made it more than worth it.

Food was underwhelming and I’m so sad to give such a poor review. I hate doing this. Had high hopes and it never delivered. Food order was missing items. Brussels sprouts was underdone. Pita was burned. Chicken was lukewarm and ok. Then No one ever came to clear our plates which we had to do ourselves. We also had to go up to the bar to order a second round of drinks. I wish it was a better experience but I utterly feel embarrassed I picked this place for an important dinner. Good selection of bourbons and they made a good French 75. But overall I’m sorry.

Beautiful location. Warm well lit ambiance and great employee. Food choices are great. Liquor is available. If you choose to Park in the same building ( marriot) it's from 22 to 37 dollars. I didn't like the nacho chips itself, it taste stale but toppings on it is great.

Amazing! The tomato soup had soooooo much flavor, the monkey bread was perfect! Best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had and the best plant based patty melt I’ve ever had! Will definitely be back!

My coworkers and I came here for dinner during a business trip and had a mixed experience. The overall feel of the space was impressive and spacious. The decor was visually appealing but a bit overwhelming with lots of elements competing. We started with the brussel sprouts and cornbread appetizers which were delicious and sharable for 6 people. 4 members of the group ordered the fried chicken which we were told would take 30 minutes which raised eyebrows. For such a large restaurant we don't know how that would take so long and not be able to be accommodated more quickly? However, it was cooked well and had great flavor. The Caesar salad with salmon was disappointing - the salmon was very dry and tiny and accompanied by only 3 very hard croutons but the dressing was great and a little citrussy. There were also 3 entrees on the menu that they were out of. The service was a little lacking with our requests seeming like inconvenience to the server and hostess (it was not even a busy night). Overall, a blend of positive and negative comments, but there is room for improvement.

I recently dined at Porch Kitchen and Bar in Louisville for a last-minute Saturday brunch, and I must say it was a delightful experience. We started our meal with the croissant cinnamon rolls, and they were a perfect balance of sweetness and flakiness. The smoked salmon toast was a highlight, with fresh, flavorful ingredients that left a lasting impression. For our main course, we ordered the chicken and waffles, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was crispy and tender, while the waffles were perfectly fluffy. The combination of flavors and textures made this dish a standout. What impressed us the most, apart from the delicious food, was the ease of getting reservations, even on a busy Saturday. The staff was accommodating and attentive, ensuring our dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Porch Kitchen and Bar is a great choice for a spontaneous brunch outing, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for quality food and a pleasant atmosphere in Louisville.

We visited on a whim before attending an event at the KICC, not only was it the perfect distance but we had an awesome time. Normally reservations are needed but there is limited seating at the bar--we got lucky and had great seats with no reservation. The food and drinks were all superb. A twenty dollar sandwich should taste like a twenty dollar sandwich, and this place does everything right. Every single ingredient tasted excellent. The veggie patty melt could easily compete with the best true beef patty melts, and the salmon was melt-in-your-mouth. The burger had all the smokiness and char of a real backyard hamburger while still being every bit worth the price tag. We shall return!

First day the smoked chicken wings were not very good in taste. They were not juicy at all. The Southern Chicken plate was just okay, it could use a lot more flavor. The butter rum cake dessert was delicious. 2nd day the brisket nachos and the Mac and cheese were 100% the bomb! Sadly, I could not enjoy a Jacob's Ghost drink or Old Crows Straight since even though it was on their paper menu, they did not have in stock. First day the manager rectified the wings issue and gave us a complimentary dessert. 2nd day, the bartenders were fantastic. Comfortable atmosphere. It can get packed at times.

Biggest mistake on my trip to Louisville was eating here. If you happen to be staying at the Marriott in downtown then it may be a good spot to meet up with someone for a quick drink. If you actually care about your dining experience and you're looking for food that is a great representation of Louisville, this isn't it. If you’re a person that actually takes time to read reviews, please don’t waste your time with this place. We stayed nearby for the night and stopped here to eat based on location. We definitely should have kept walking. There are far better options around. Hostess did not greet my party kindly at all. I was with my kids (6 and 7) and we were told that there wasn't anything for them on the menu (our waitress later explained there were kid friendly options). We were also told that we may not all fit at any of their tables and because we were a party of 9 we would not be able to split the bill in 2. There was a party of 8 right next to us who seemed to fit just fine and also split their bill. It felt like the Hostess probably would prefer it if we we weren't there but it was about 6pm and they had plenty of seating available. My family has also eaten at similar places that were far more welcoming for families. This just seemed like a Chili's with better furniture. Food was bad but not terrible (really not worth discussing). Service was disappointing. The worst was being followed outside by a staff member who made the mistake of thinking we did not pay before leaving...We definitely did pay, and it felt like we were the ones being robbed.

We had dinner here this past Saturday. The crab hush puppy appetizer was great. The burger was delicious and huge! I added the bacon to it but it doesn’t need it. The bacon was too thick and had a lot of fat so I took it off after a few bites and finished the burger without it. The Brussels sprouts were amazing! Sweet, spicy, and sticky and highly recommended. The server (Isaac?- sorry can’t remember) was very friendly and attentive. Overall this was a great meal.

Great place for dinner! They brought out the wrong appetizer at first, but were able to correct with no issue. Waitress Vanessa was very nice and welcoming. Would have liked to try the banana foster pie for dessert but we were too full!

We had the fried chicken with the hot honey sauce. The portions are large. I didn’t get a chance to take a pic before I dug in. The fried chicken was flavorful. The drinks are good and strong!

The food was good. The wings were huge, they are full size. Husband had the double cheese burger. Katie the manger was great. We had an issue with a drink and no problem. She went to the bar and made it herself. If you had a question about one of the bourdon's on the list she knew the answer. Katie so you know who we are I have posted Bertie.

Completely enjoyed my dining experience. The cocktail and wine were on point thanks to excellent recommendations from Amishea. Cesar salad had a great brightness to pair with the creamy texture and crunch of fresh romaine. Halibut was wonderful along with the service!

The service, the food especially the bourbon butter cake is to die for. This is a very good one in Louisville! We started with drinks, I had their spiced pear daiquiri. We started with complementary smoked chicken wings and sticky brussels sprouts with Apple bacon caramel smoked almonds & sliced red peppers to start. Had their fried chicken with a honey glaze, fries and slaw. And the service was just exceptional! It's located in the Marriott Downtown.

Incredible experience! The food was amazing. I had the egg white omelet and it blew me away. Our server, Roan, was attentive, friendly and had a great sense of humor! It was my first time here, and I will 100% be back! UPDATE: Well, that was disappointing. Went in with a group of six because the food was so good previously. It’s my supervisor’s last day and we wanted to do something special. Imagine our disappointment when we were informed that we would only be allowed to pay on one check, with an added 20% gratuity. They eventually compromised - by offering to split the check in two, seat each group in a different area, and STILL tack on the 20% gratuity PER CHECK. Needless to say, we did not eat here - and might not again after this.

Many original takes on traditional foods. I had a perfectly done filet with blackened shrimp. I swapped the mashed potatoes for quinoa pilaf which worked well. The Signature Old Fashioned was tasty with black walnut bitters and house made vanilla Demerara. After dinner the bourbon cake was irresistible and an easy choice. Looking forward to a return visit.

Traveling from out of town for work and decided to stop here for lunch with some coworkers. The food was served quick and was pretty tasty. Only complaint was that for some reason they have this rule where parties of 6 or more can’t split the check, so we just split up and sat 3 per table. Not the end of the world, but when they’re relatively empty at lunch time you would think they’d be a little more flexible. Other than that this place was as great lunch spot.

Stopped here on the way out of town after a night in the big city with friends. Limited menu during brunch but a very nice one. Didn’t like that they preferred to bunch people together at long high top tables, they just aren’t comfortable. The price points for the food amount is all over the place. The $15 avocado toast is good, but as you can see it was a little single serving while the $17 double cheeseburger and fries was enough for two. We had the breakfast nachos as well, unfortunately they were not a successful fusion in my opinion. Over all a nice place for a bite, but substantially better alternatives if you can walk or travel a bit.

Very nice restaurant inside of the Marriott. Service was prompt and friendly. The Lump Crab Hushpuppies were outstanding! My entrée was the Grilled Salmon which I also enjoyed. This restaurant is on the more expensive side. I enjoyed my dinner here.

If you want southern comfort food, this is how you get southern comfort food! The look of horror on our server's face when we each ordered our own fried chicken entree implies that they slaughtered a whole farm to make our meals. Upon seeing the portion sizes, these implications were confirmed. Delicious, filling, and food-coma indicuing!

Loved this new find, awesome food, small menu that shows they've perfected there choices. Butter bourbon cake is freaking the best, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a Carmel bourbon crunch drizzle. Hard to explain but freaking so delicious. Also had the 1/2 serving of brisket nachos, wonderful appetizer. Very friendly staff, helpful, informative and our Server Meghan was the best, great service. Thanks for making our night so awesome!

Super nice atmosphere🤩 Fresh, well presented food.🏆 Found the Porch Kitchen & Bar on Google. Yep, this is also another first time, and definitely a good choice. Portions were plenty full, well prepared and delicious. Our order was Oatmeal with apples and candid walnuts.😋 Breakfast Nachos (for two) which included scrambled eggs, and bacon. Nutella Wallfes as pictured 😋 *not pictured: Chicken & Waffles served with honey and whipped butter.👍 Great place, Great food. Left with a happy belly.😁

Great relaxed, upscale spot. Bright and open, but not too noisy. I enjoyed a couple drinks, an appetizer, and dessert. Don't judge too much, just what I was in the mood for. Flavors in the brussel sprouts dish were a great balance of sweet and savory. The Porch Manhattan was very well done. The bourbon butter cake was heavenly. Sarah is an excellent server.

We absolutely loved the atmosphere and food!!! We had the beef and cheddar and the brisket nachos. 5 star on the food. Our waitress Amishea was absolutely wonderful and very good at her job!!! We look forward to going back again.

Very enjoyable experience, drinks were delicious and so was the food. We had a mix of apps, 3 for 2 people and we're full. We also had 2 bourbon based drinks and loved them.

Food was AMAZING. Our server, Christian, was AWESOME. Unfortunately that's where the good review ends. The females that were there working were gossiping about one another and other patrons in the middle of the eating area. On top of that, those same females were heard yelling profanity in the kitchen about food tickets. Will come back for sure but Christian was the best so hopefully he'll be our server again.

The positive about this place was the drinks. The old fashioned was fantastic. The negatives...the food & wait time. Our food took so long to come our waiter comped a round of drinks. Then when the food did come, my brisket nachos had a hair in it. The feeling of chewing someone else's hair is horrifying. They made me a second round of nachos. The brisket on them was chewy and lacked flavor. Our waitress was kind. So the service there isn't necessarily all bad.

Atmosphere is awesome. Staff is unmatched in friendliness. But the food is lacking in quality. I wish I could rate the people as opposed to the food because the people would be 5 stars all the way!!! Louisville is full of restaurants with amazing food … choose a different place to eat dinner.

  • 4/5 Jay M. 2 years ago on Google
Cool vibe here! 4 stars ONLY because we were disappointed with the tiny amount of calamari under the pile of potatoes. They were tasty though. And because we didn’t get our drinks till the second food choice came out, but perhaps because of the speedy food delivery! And all piping hot! Think the bartender could have used help, but loved the place and would return again. The owner/manager even came by to ask how things were with many tables besides ours. The place was packed!

Salmon was very old and expired and they tried to serve it to us. Got another dish and the chicken was undercooked. Waiter really wasn’t listening to our requests and was doing what he wanted to do. Overall not worth 400$
