WOW!!THE WINGS!!!!! For 5 years i was craving these Hickory smoked wings! For the first time we tried Martin's BBQ back in 2017 at the Nashville Downtown location with my wife and its best BBQ i had down there. The Sweet Dixie sauce is out of this world with the finishing Dry Dixie Rib rub. When we planned the trip to Louisville and i discovered that there is a Martin's Bbq Joint i couldn't been more excited to have their food again. My wife had the Catfish sandwich and she sad, it was the best she have ever had!Kids also loved the wings as well. The staff was super friendly. Multiple people stop by at the table to check on us and make sure the food was great!! Absolutely wonderful experience!! Thank you Mr.Martin you have fans for life! Greetings from Chicago😎

Didn't really know what to expect as only one top ten BBQ in Louisville lists even had Martin's ranked. I know of the one in Charleston, but didn't eat there on our last visit. So....wow. The whole hog pulled pork so incredibly moist with a little crunchiness from the skin. What great flavor. The brisket was also super moist with added flavor from the barq. Still learning about what types of wood are used in smoking, but maybe this was oak smoked or maybe hickory? The fries were good and held up the whole meal. The baked beans had some spice which made it more Texas style. They were good but not my favorite. They have several sauces, I had the vinegar based sauce as well as the spicy sauce and sweet sauce. All sauces were great. These sauces were all thinner in consistency which I don't normally like, but these were really good. I didn't try the mustard based or Mayo sauces. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. They have a private space for parties or you can pony up to the bar. GREAT BBQ. EDIT: After three days in Louisville and four BBQ restaurants, Martin's was overall the BEST. This place deserves more attention!!!!!

We come here often. Sliced brisket sandwich and Mac n cheese are go-tos but we also love the bologna, broccoli salad, and brisket tacos. It smells and feels like a true bbq joint and you will leave smelling like the smoker. The food is GOOD and reasonably priced. So much seating and always very quick service. You order at the counter and choose your own seat and wait for them to bring it to you. Highly recommend!

This is not a server type restaurant which was nice. You simply walk up to the counter order your food grab a number recieve your drinks and they will bring the food. It is some of the best bbq I have had in awhile and would now rank this as my number one bbq spot. Very fresh and melt in your mouth BBQ. If you are needing a new work lunch spot or a place a little more fast and convenient this is it! They also have a live band that plays on Wednesdays in the Summer.

I was already full so I didn't finish it. So I decided to take it back home to Michigan the next day. I warmed it up on the stove in an iron pot. It tasted just the same as it was first prepared. Delicious brisket, burgers and unforgettable fries.

You walk in and it smells like you're in a BBQ spot! I had the brisket burger with Mac and cheese along with the BBQ nachos! Everything was delicious! Great staff and nice atmosphere! I highly recommend Martin's!

Very good brisket and broccoli slaw was outstanding as was the pool pork. I did find that the brisket amount was a little sparse and for that reason I’m knocking WinStar off. Good food and definitely worth a visit. Prices are a bit high though.

We work at Ford Motor Co. on Chamberlain Lane and lots of co-workers say it's really good. So we decided to try this place for lunch. I got the pulled pork tray and my husband got the turkey tray. You get one meat and two sides, he got the potato salad and baked beans, I got the baked beans and green beans. The potato salad is made with the red new potatoes, very chunky. The green beans are the flat Italian style. The baked beans had a very good flavor but my serving was full of green peppers, not really a lot of beans. Both of us got 2 slices of white bread. The meat was very juicy and had a good flavor. I tried the BBQ sauce that was on the table, it had a vinegar base and very thin and watery. The server brought us a sample of a more sweeter, thicker BBQ sauce I liked both sauces. They forgot our drinks, so I went up to the counter to ask for our drinks, and we got these little child size cups, but we ordered a large drink. The cashier said they ran out of cups. I also ordered the pecan pie and it was delicious. On our way out my husband asked if they could change the price on the drinks since we didn't get a large drink and the cashier said we could've had a free refill. But no one told us that. So, it didn't do us any good to tell us we could've had a free refill as we were on our way out the door. I wish my lemonade was a litlle more 'lemony' and a tad sweeter. All in all, I would recommend this place.

Treat Husband for Father’s Day. He requested BBQ so we called our foodie friends. They suggested this place and said it’s the only BBQ place they go to. Brisket was recommended. Husband chose the ribs and I chose the wings. The Alabama White sauce is so tangy and different. It dipped well with the hush puppies. Although the food was good, we weren’t aware the meat is smoked and dry rubbed with the BBQ sauces on the side. So if you like your meat cooked with BBQ sauce on it, this may not be your place. Overall, great atmosphere. We sat towards the deck area which was a perfect blend of air conditioning and outside air because they had the doors up. Lots of TVs to watch a little bit of everything.

First visit and ordered the sweet bbq wings, Beef Brisket, Mac n cheese , green beans, slaw, baked beans and hushpuppies. My husband gave the beef brisket a 10/10 and doesn't give out 10's. The wings were cooked to perfection. Very flavorful crispy on the outside , juicy on the inside. Mac n cheese was fantastic, baked beans were some of the best beans I have ever had. The slaw was good, green beans were perfect. The hushpuppies were different than I had before but delicious. Crispy and light. I noticed the desserts and opted out. Be aware, they have mostly vinegar based bbq suases. Somethings I did not like was the atmosphere. I know it is a big place and doors opening alot, but over 10 flies by our table. The table was a bit sticky. The other is the drink situation, asking for refills should not be a thing in a dinning in area. The music was just a smidge on the louder side. But over all we will definitely be back. Highly recommend 👌 👍

Fast, friendly service! The food was absolutely amazing. The pork sandwich was so flavorful, it didn't need sauce, but we sampled the sauce favors anyway. The fried chicken sandwich was perfectly crispy outside, but melt-in-your-mouth tender inside. I loved sitting in the screened in area, watching the sun set with a lovely breeze. I can't wait to go back!

My last night in Louisville, KY, I found a gem. When I opened the door, i was greeted with the light smoke from the grill pits. The brisket (smoked for 18hrs), oh my goodness, was tender and very tasty, I also asked for the dry rub ribs and chicken with sauce on the side. (you shall not give me meat covered and drowning in sauce I must know what-that-pitmaster-do) the ribs presented as tender, almost fall of the bone all though I loved the ribs I have to present one of two small criticisms the ribs still had the membrane on the back. (Not that a problem for me but a deal breaker for my wife). The chicken was so good I could have slapped my wife ( my mother would kill me, so the wife it is, lol). The sides were on point. I had the mac&cheese, cold slaw, and potatoe salad, which leads to second criticism, the potatoe salad was on the salty side. Due to my low salt diet, I can't ding them for that.. the atmosphere was nice. The restaurant had an outdoor porch area that was bigger than most bbq joints entire place. All in all is about the BBQ it was and is awesome. The service made me feel like part of the family the manager took care of me with southern hospitality.

Online order for a Southern Chicken Tender meal with green beans and Mac n cheese. The meal was ready to go when I arrived. The young man that greeted me with a warm hello proceeded to grab my food while I visited the ladies room which showed signs of cleanliness. I was on a road trip so I didn’t eat the food inside. I found a string of hair in the box. The chicken tenders tasted as if they were previously frozen and overly seasoned with Lawry’s, but the breading made it crunchy which I did enjoy eating. A few of the strips had a slight tug as I bit in to it. I could of passed on the sides. The greens beans had bits of a smoky meat and the Mac n cheese had bread crumbs sprinkled with paprika. Did not enjoy it at all!

Upon arrival I was excited, the building is awesome with a great atmosphere, lots of tables and parking. It smelled so good upon opening the front door, my expectations were so high. The prices were a little steep but everything is now. Our pork platters were fine with a mix of fat and meat. Portion was not big but bot small. The baked beans had a little heat and the coleslaw was sweet. The hush puppies were blah and the cornbread hoecake was bland. My daughters ribs were ok. We liked the fries and fresh cut chips. Service was great and attentive but unfortunately we won't be back.

Awesome place to eat! Definitely would recommend! Been on vacation around this area and it’s the best place I have eaten at so far. They offer a great variety of BBQ food and a great variety of sides and ways you want your food. Maybe a little pricey but totally worth it. All the staff is great and kind and stay on top of all your concerns. Love this place and left full. Place is also very nostalgic with their wall decorations and you will find something on the wall that you like because there is so much decorations. The place is also very clean and beautiful. Martin’s BBQ is amazing and one of the best BBQ places that I’ve eaten at.

While Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint offers a unique order-at-the-counter experience with server pricing, my dining experience left me underwhelmed. The food, unfortunately, was on the dry side, and the overall dining experience didn’t stand out enough for me to recommend it to others.

Found this place randomly while looking for the bluegrass outlets. So happy we stumbled upon it. Walking in the smell of the barbecue was amazing. The lady at the counter helped us pick out some food and recommended several of her favorites. My husband got the pork I got the pulled chicken. It was so full of smoke flavor and came out quick. While it’s a 2 hour drive back here I would definitely come back again when in town. Try it you won’t be disappointed

Ordered curbside from the website and it was awesome! Ready in 15 minutes, pulled up to the designated parking spots marked myself arrived and out came my order. Dinner was delicious! Best smoked turkey EVER! Brisket was melt in your mouth amazing. We split a few side items and everything was flavorful and fresh. Baked beans were soooo good we will be ordering them in bulk, placing in our own container and saying we made it for the next cookout we go to 😁 highly recommend Martins!

Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint in Louisville, KY, is a delightful slice of Southern charm and culinary excellence. A Nashville native, Martin's has successfully exported its beloved family recipes and smoking techniques to the heart of Louisville, creating a BBQ haven that is both authentic and inviting. The restaurant's dedication to the art of BBQ is evident in their meticulous smoking process. Every single day, the BBQ is smoked for over 20 hours, a testament to the 'low and slow' philosophy that is the cornerstone of their operation. This commitment to quality and tradition is palpable in every bite. The Ribs at Martin's are a standout, with a smoky, tender, and flavorful profile that is hard to resist. The meat falls off the bone, and the sauce is a perfect blend of tangy and sweet, with just the right amount of heat. It's clear that these ribs are the product of time, patience, and a whole lot of love. The Brisket Burger is another favorite, and for good reason. The brisket is succulent and juicy, with a rich, deep flavor that is perfectly complemented by the fresh bun and crisp toppings. It's a hearty, satisfying dish that leaves you feeling content and craving more at the same time. While the food is undoubtedly the star of the show, the ambiance of Martin's Bar-B-Que Joint is also worth mentioning. The restaurant exudes warmth and charm, making it a great place to gather with friends and family. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive dining experience. However, it's worth noting that the closure of the Germantown location was a disappointment. The convenience and familiarity of that location are missed, and it would be great to see Martin's expand their presence once again in the future.

Boyfriend and I are on a trip for our 3yr anniversary to Louisville ate here to try out the barbecue and we LOVED everything, brisket is the best 😍. Dessert options were low but we tried the fudge pie 🥧 it was decent. The Kentucky mule was strong but good. We definitely recommend this place for a quick and delicious meal.

BBQ Smoked Chicken sandwich was dry. NOT Corn Bread, resembles a sour dough pancake. Very Small amount of coleslaw for the cost.

My brother works here and he loves it, I also love it because the food is amazing! Editing because I thought I should, also I completely forgot about this rating so yeah, he’s a picture of the (half-slab I think) ribs i got the last time I visited!

Saw it on a Reddit thread. Stopped in late and they were out of several meats. Had the brisket and thought it was pretty good. The sauce needed work and if there were other sauce options I didn’t see them. The sides were the weak point and my Mac and cheese and hush puppies were pretty unremarkable. I’ll go back and try different main and sides.

After I was at Chedders not from from Martin and had worse experience that I couldn't eat my meal. Talk about 180 difference, friendly staff and my brisket oh my, melts in your mouth, while they were out of chips, the fries tasted good and so did the slaw. I did enjoy the sauce with it's vinger taste went hand in hand with my brisket. This be a place to visit again and again.

Awesome food and service was great. Love the food. Atmosphere here was great. This place is large so even when busy, it didn't feel like it. It also wasn't loud with all the people in the restaurant. Highly recommend!

My first and last time eating there. I ordered a salad and got stale croutons iceberg lettuce that has seen better days and soft corn. The service however, was awesome. Very friendly staff. The next time, I'll just run across the street to Meijer and get the ingredients and make my own salad.

Excellent barbecue! Taste: We ordered the brisket tray first, and we loved it so much that we decided to order the sampler. The first brisket was AMAZING. It melted in your mouth and had a great smokey taste. I ordered the mac and cheese and cornbread- which were also phenomenal. The Mac and cheese was my favorite part- spiral noodles, plenty of tasteful cheese, and a little crunchy on top. The sampler was good, but less impressive. It came with brisket and 4 ribs. The ribs were very good, but a bit dry on the ends. This time, the brisket was mostly great, but we had a few dry pieces. I would’ve given a 5-star review if it wasn’t for the sampler. Cleanliness: The bar was clean and dishes were clean. No concerns on cleanliness. Service: We we’re welcomed in right away and advised to order our food at the counter. The woman who welcomed us was friendly and kind. The woman at the counter was no-frills but nice enough. Wait time/reservation: 4pm on a Wednesday- No reservation needed, walked in and sat at the bar. There were plenty of tables available.
