This remains one of the best places in Kentucky many years later since I first came here when it was a Six Flags park, still remains a fun experience for everyone of all types. Season Passes pay for themselves very quickly and there is all types of rides and food for everyone. A must-visit for anyone in Louisville!

I came here with my friends and spent about six hours exploring the whole park and enjoying our day off. Upon entering the gate to this place, you have to pay a fee per car of $12, and the individual ticket is cheaper to purchase online than in person at the ticket booth by $10! I should have known this before buying my ticket in person, and I could have saved money. (You don't have to make this mistake, though.) Once you park your car and get your tickets, there's another expenditure you must make other than drinks or food: a locker. I purchased a large locker that fits my beach bag with my stuff in it. If you bring a medium-large backpack, you must buy an XL locker, as a large locker won't fit your gear. Again, once you are done settling your locker, you are ready to explore the whole park! There are plenty of rides to see, which my friend and I did initially before enjoying all the water theme rides. Bring a fanny pack for your handheld devices and other things, and get your water! You have to stay hydrated, especially when the weather outside can be very humid and hot. This is a fun place to go to with your friendsand family. There are different activities and rides for diverse ages, and everybody gets to have fun all day! It is worth checking out occasionally (maybe for summertime).

It looks like an old park. signs are faded, carousel looks old. In general, the colors of the water park are paying the bill of time and it is seen that they do not invest much in some areas. The park is large and there are a variety of games to have fun. They have also brought new attractions that will leave you breathless if you enjoy the rides. Prices. Admission $58.00 at the entrance. $3.70 for a drink. Locker for 2 backpack $18.00. Better if you get tickets online before get on the way.

To call this a theme park is a bit of a reach. It's an amusement park with some very light theming, none of which really extends to the rides, which are pretty much standard amusement park fare. I went for the coasters because I had limited time and those are my thing, and on this front I wasn't disappointed. Lightning Run looks tame -- one moderate drop and a bunch of bunny hills. But looks are deceiving here -- this coaster is all about the ejector air time. It's a bucking bronco that really feels like it's trying to throw you off. If that's you're thing, this is your ride. Thunder Run is a good woodie -- lots of banks and turns, ups and downs. It's super rough and pretty headach-inducing, but still a good classic wooden coaster. Kentucky Flier is a fun out-and-back woodie with a fair amount of floater air time, and not nearly as rough or intense as Thunder Run. Roller Skater is a fun kids' coaster, short and cute, like most of its riders. I'm a big fan of inverted coasters, so I really dug T3. Lots of twists and inversions, some fun corkscrews. Lots of fun. It reminds me of the late lamented Dragon Challenge / Dueling Dragons from Islands of Adventure, though it is just a single track, not a racing coaster. I liked this one enough to eagerly do it twice. My favorite, though, was Storm Chaser, a steel coaster that sort of mimics a woodie or a hybrid. A great mix of inversions and overbanked turns, corkscrews, floater air, positive Gs... Yeah, this one was almost worth the price of admission by itself. One issue I had was that no one really directs riders where to go once they get to the loading platforms, so it's a bit of a free-for-all, and a bit confusing. I didn't have time enough for the other rides, though as I say they were pretty typical amusement park rides, drop towers and swings and the like, usually good fun. I also didn't do the water park at all. It looked pretty entertaining, though a couple of the rides were closed either temporarily or permanently. The big disappointment here was the food. I paid about $15 for a burger and an iced tea. The burger was all but flavorless and seriously overcooked, the fries pretty bottom-of-the-line. If it had cost 1/3 as much it would still have been overpriced. I know that amusement park food is often mediocre and almost always overpriced, but this was taking it to the extreme. Even though the place was called Swampwater Jack's and has a grinning gator as its mascot, suggesting maybe a Cajun theme, it was all just that exceptionally bland American food. The ticket prices are also a bit deceptive. The website says $42.99 for a one day pass, but at the gate it was $58. The cheaper price is only available online, it turns out, as the small print explains. Still, the rides were good and the crowds weren't bad even though I was there on a Saturday, so on that basis I would still recommend it.

Kentucky Kingdom is an absolute blast! I had a fantastic time at this amusement park and water park combo. The variety of thrilling rides and attractions cater to all ages, making it a perfect destination for families and thrill-seekers alike. The park was clean, well-organized, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I especially loved the water park area, which provided a refreshing escape from the summer heat. The roller coasters were exhilarating, and there were plenty of entertaining shows and events throughout the day. The food options were diverse and delicious, offering something for everyone. The park's commitment to safety and cleanliness was evident, and I felt comfortable during my entire visit. Whether you're looking for a day of excitement or a relaxing time by the water, Kentucky Kingdom has it all. I can't wait to visit again and create more wonderful memories. If you're in the area, don't miss the chance to experience this fantastic amusement park! ๐ŸŽข๐ŸŽก๐Ÿ–๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š

I live in Cincinnati and get season passes to Kings Island every year. I saw what a good deal Kentucky Kingdom was offering and bought a couple of those as well. We absolutely loved our stay. It's very nice to enjoy a different Park. We rode the different roller coasters and they were awesome. It's a very nice looking place. Definitely a good place to bring your family.

My kids, grandkids and myself had an awesome time here! The rides was fun especially loved getting to ride the Farris wheel! Never encountered one rude staff member everyone was very helpful and friendly. I bought season passes for us all and the kids have gone back a few times so far. A great place to cool off in the pools and just have a great time. See ya again soon.

We loved it! Be sure to get the two day pass, and get there early enough both days so you can enjoy everything! If you.can, go on a weekday. It's extremely busy on weekends. Almost TOO busy. Ride lines were super long, and some of the water rides (Tornado) didn't have enough organization. People fighting over floats, without attendant. But nonetheless, fun time had by all! BRING SUNSCREEN!!

My boyfriend and I were skeptical since the last time we came was when Six Flags still owned Kentucky Kingdom, but we had a great time with the updated park. There were barely any lines for a summer weekend, and the staff was fantastic - especially the gentleman in charge of Thunder Run who went out of his way to track down a lost pair of sunglasses for us (which he didnโ€™t need to). Iโ€™m not a thrill chaser myself, but my boyfriend and his sister devoured the roller coasters and we all took over the splash park in the afternoon. Do yourself a favor and buy the park bottles to fill up - .99 for soft drinks, and water is free. I think that saved us for our long, hot day of fun.

It was pretty fun. On Saturday the lines can get to be over an hour long so be prepared. We used a Groupon deal and got 2 days for $30 so totally worth it. Some rides are only open Saturday and Sunday. Great for kids of all ages.

Fall leaves and funnel cakes, ya'll! Decorated currently for their pumpkin/Halloween type theme, and it's very well done. Many photo ops, snacks, costume contests, and even some light trick or treating for kids. Lots of seating, several restrooms, and snack places located throughout the park. Small parade passed through about 3 times during the 5 hours we visited. Hardly any wait for the rides at all. Lines moved quickly for food vendors and rides (we visited on a Sunday from about 4-9pm). Recommend seeing the pumpkin decor before the season ends. Plus... funnel cakes, ya'll! Bonus: I found discounted admission tickets on Groupon, so it might be worth checking!

Fun with a small park feel. They had a lot of drink stations closed on a hot day, so it was a little irritating. Overall the park itself was clean and the lines weren't to bad. The water park was fairly big and we really enjoyed the artificial Waves.

Storm Chase was the best ride at this theme park. Was also the main reason we checked out the park. Park and restrooms were clean with good prices on the snacks. Could use some more coasters to add thrill to the park and run more than one train when the lines are longer. Overall, it was a good experience.

First time visiting since I was younger when it was ran by six flags. The pumpkins at the park was great. Lots of cool decorations, and some of the rides at night looked great. Some pretty good rides. Only reason Iโ€™m not giving 5 stars is because numerous rides including Thunder Run were closed for the remainder of the season even though the website and Facebook page makes no mention of that when buying tickets. We will eventually return.

Had a great time! Park was clean and the rides were really fun. It was a slow day during the week so the lines weren't long either. Only bad thing is a handful of rude kids that work there. Cutting me and my son off while walking through the park. Still quite a few rides shut down as well.

Had a blast with the kids. I only wish they had a fast lane because some lines were nearly two hours wait. We had a free drink armband though and that definitely was worth it because you can get as many as you need throughout the day at pretty much any food or drink stand. Overall great day !

Highly recommend the pumpkins at KY Kingdom. Great rides, they offered face painting, balloon animals, dancing and candy. The lights and decorations were awesome. Myself and my 14 year old had a blast.

Kentucky Kingdom & Hurricane Bay is a great park for family fun. They have so much to offer during your visit. From roller coasters, shopping, eating food or just laying in the lazy River at the water park. Itโ€™s Louisvilleโ€™s number one family fun. Prices ranges from $39.99-$42.99 on weekdays and weekends. The hours are from 11am-7pm on weekdays and 10am-8pm on weekends. Season pass goes from $79.99 to $89.99 but they are cheaper during Christmas time. Operators are Herschend Family Entertainment which also operates Dollywood in Tennessee. Parking is everywhere around the front of Kentucky Kingdom. Price to park can be $10.00 to $20.00 depends on the day and all the events going on at the fair grounds. If you have a season pass to Kentucky Kingdom then parking is free. If you are dropping off people at the park, you still have to pay to get in the gates but you will get a refund. As soon you pay for parking, You drive right in the middle of the park. Like literally down the middle since the park is split from the road. So itโ€™s pretty cool to see all the roller coasters and rides before you get to the entrance. Make you feel excited even more to get your day started. The front gate admissions employees welcome you to Kentucky Kingdom with a smile. Make you feel welcome like you are at home. After you interaction with the front gate employees, You see a huge sign with a beautiful fountain that says โ€œKentucky Kingdom & Hurricane Bayโ€ Best spot for a photo shoot in the park. Definitely for all those social media influencers. After your photo, You have two ways to go. Left or right! Either way is fine since itโ€™s a big cycle in the front half of the park. The second half of the park is across the bridge where the water park and most of the major roller coasters are. Kentucky Kingdom has 5 major roller coasters. Lightning Run and Storm Chaser is the best coasters the park in my opinion. They have everything that a coaster should have during any coaster experience. The speed, airtime and intensity of them both. The duo is something you wouldnโ€™t want to miss out. Thunder Run is the old-traditional wooden coaster. The coaster makes you feel like your first wooden roller coaster again but the airtime is great on Thunder Run. Roller Skater and Kentucky Flyer are the family coasters of the park but donโ€™t miss out on Kentucky Flyer. That little coaster is no joke. They do however have another coaster in the back next to the water park but they did closed the coaster permanently this season (2023) Kentucky Kingdom also has so many thrill rides like Fearfall which is a 129 feet drop tower and Cyclos which is a swinging ride that goes in the air doing 360 degrees loop. Those two are my favorite thrill rides there. They also have a huge kids area with many rides! Donโ€™t forget to checkout all the other rides that are available in the park. The food just like any other amusement park out there. You have the traditional cheeseburgers, pizza, chicken tenders etc. But they did add a lot of food this season (2023) but I havenโ€™t got a chance to try them yet. They also added a meal plan for $28.99 this season. (2023) The water park is huge! They have many water slides and attractions for the whole family. They have two wave pools, two lazy rivers, two kids areas (which one is a toddler area) and many water slides! They have lockers for your stuff and food stands everywhere. One water slide is called โ€œDeep Water Diveโ€ is one of the worldโ€™s tallest body slides! You definitely have to check it out! The water park is a must for your visit. The park is clean and the employees are nice and seem like they love their job. Definitely the ride operators. They are so engaging that you just want to keep riding all day long. The only thing that seem they need to fix is a full deep clean for the bathrooms! They are not the best. Highly recommend the restrooms next to storm chaser! They are cleanest in the park. You thank me later. We recommend going on weekdays because there are no crowds and shorter lines for the rides! Overall 4.3/5

This was a great little getaway for our family. The most expensive part of the trip was the hotel. You are allowed to bring food into the park so that was very beneficial to our budget. Take time to look for hotel with shuttle

This is a hidden gem. My two older children and I spent a day here, and had a great time. The rides were very fun, and there is a variety to choose from. I especially recommend the Storm Chaser, and T3. Both of them very thrilling to ride. The staff was accommodating, and the environment was clean. As far as amusement parks go it represents a great value. We will probably return next year.

What the heck? You will have to use your phone to see the map of Kentucky Kingdom and Hurricane Bay. Or use the "You are here boards". Using your cell phone to navigate the water park with wet clothes? Yeah ok. Who came up with this idea? Some good rides here, But when your day starts with your first rollercoaster ride being delayed because of some family matters it's not a good sign. Then we had to sit on the third coaster waiting atleast 5mins for a mother to stop insisting that she be allowed to jump line to ride with her children. Then the last coaster ride ends with the workers unable to release the riders because of a mechanical or electrical problem. I called over a worker immediately. because the lap bar was now pressing my left leg so hard that my leg was going extremely numb. I was cutoff and only got out "Hey this" "We called and they gonna come to fix it. I was wanting to tell them that it's not just that the lock won't won't unlock but it actually closed tighter on it's own. But the girl ignored me when I shouted "hey it's more than just stuck" If it hadn't fixed in the 3-4 minutes that it was. Seriously, everyone in the park was going to hear about it because it was quickly turning into some serious pain.

The reason I gave it 3 stars, is due to the ride closed down when the kids were about to ride the one ride .. then they closed the slides and wave pool later during the day... Was told it was a bio hazard... So the kids didn't get to do very much... Place was nice... Would still give it another try if we ever come back to this area.

My kids and i had such a blast at the pumpkins event! We loved it so much we bought season passes on the way out. No long waits, rides were safe, exciting, and fun, it kept a small town kind vibe with the excitement of an amusement park, magic shows, parades and great food.

I like Kentucky Kingdom. It has 6 roller coasters, all of them pretty solid in their goals, and for coasters enthusiasts, it has two very good rides among them, Lightning Run and Storm Chaser (this last one is super good). The kids section is fairly big, with several attractions, and Hurricane Bay, the water park, can give you some fun if you get to enjoy it (personally I highly prefer Holiday World Splash Safari water park, but the one in Kentucky Kingdom is not bad). Food and drinks are somehow expensive if you donโ€™t have the season pass, by the way, so a warning there.

I enjoyed visiting this park. It was our first time visiting and unfortunately we were only able to ride 4 things as there was lightning in the area all day. We were able to ride Lightning Run, Storm Chaser, Thunder Run, and the carousel. They were all very fun. The park gave us a rainy day pass for us to return due to everything being closed all day due to weather, which is awesome as a lot of parks don't typically do that. I think what the park could use to push it up to 5 stars would be more renovations. You can tell this used to be owned by Six Flags as there are some areas of the park that look nicer than others. Otherwise had a great time here and recommend checking it out.

We came here this week on vacation. Despite the good list of rides and attractions that technically exist here, we found ourselves without much to do because probably 75% of the attractions were closed. From kid rides to water slides to coasters, the park was mostly closed without warning or discount. There was also a weird hangup in places with the rules that didn't make a lot of sense. For example, we had a pass for the whole week, and if you leave the park they have to stamp your hand so you can get back in, and won't let you in just because you show your pass again, you had to get the hand stamp specifically for... Some reason. Another example is rides where sometimes even with no one waiting in line they'll require you get off and come back around to get back on the ride instead of just staying on for the next ride. Overall I did have fun with what was here. It was a pretty good time and we made the best of it. They should have offered warning or discount the park was mostly closed though. Definitely room for improvement.

I wanted to just get 2 tickets online for my kids. The price of one ticket was so high it was outrageous for just one day admission. While I understand the reason why amusement parks want people to buy ticket in advance to benefit from cheaper prices, it is very hard for me to schedule ahead due to work and other personal reasons๐Ÿ˜ค I ended up buying the season passes. One season pass is cheaper than 2 tickets if bought separately. My kids love the park and all the attractions in it. It was not very crowded since we went on a Tuesday, so they ended up going on the hot attractions such as " Lightening Run", Scream Extreme" and " Free Fall" more than once. We easily spent over 5 hours. One of the season pass perks is free parking which usually costs $12. The food is more expensive than in a restaurant. For example, a cheese burger and fries are $12.99. 3 chicken tenders and fries also cost $12.99. Kids and adults equally LOVE the dipping dots; a kiddie size is $5.99. Be ready to spend money especially if you have kids. We did not visit the water attraction today: We will be visiting Kentucky kingdom again very soon :)) I did not take many photos unfortunately but I took one video :)

Love the theme park awesome rides. I mostly love the water rides on hot days (Mostly Mile High Falls) Hurricane Bay is the best part of the park (Usually hot when I go there) Good roller coasters. (Thunder Run is a must) Personally I think it is better then Kings Island That's my review for Kentucky Kingdom And Hurricane Bay

  • 3/5 Charlie S. 1 year ago on Google
Kentucky Kingdom is not good, simply put. However the park is saved by the presence of Hurricane Bay. There just isn't anything to KK. The rides that were actually open were simple and boring. We went today, on a Thursday in July, and entirely too much of the park was closed. Too many rides, too many eateries closed yet the price is still the same as a park that is fully open. The water park was good. Lines were lengthy for a Thursday, but the rides were good. Lazy river was nice. No line there. We ate at SwampwaterJack's. They seemed to have the best menu for me and my 11 year old. However the food was sitting in a warmer for grab and go style, which caused there to be no fresh food available. Overall the number of things that were closed made the park look like it was in the middle of the off-season. If it were not for the two parks being available for the price of one admission, I couldn't see a reason to visit KK.
