Great fire museum! They have a small fire prevention/education area at the front of the building for children. One of the volunteers gave my daughter a tour of all of the old hand pumpers and told her the history of them all. She was enthralled with it all. Recommend for anyone! They offer a discount if you are a firefighter.

This was the best small museum experience of our 6000+ mile trip. When we came in, a retired firefighter latched on and gave us a grand tour, complete with fire safety education for the kids. Being a car guy and having a soft spot for old fire trucks, I was enamored with the quantity and quality of the machines on exhibit. Highly recommend for kids and adults alike!

Parents everywhere - take your kids, it is interactive and great nostalgia all around. Kids get a fire hat and can sit on one of the trucks. Good to spend an hour or 2.

This was such a great place to take my kids (ages 3, 4, 6 and 7) who are VERY into firefighting/first responders right now. The man who did the tour is a retired history teacher and loves firefighting. He did a great job! They have a staged bedroom area that the kids go in and the guide talks about what to do in case of a fire. They also have a kitchen area with appliances that “smoke” and he talks about fire safety in the kitchen. Then he walks you around and explains the evolution of fire fighting carts/carriages/trucks! The kids got to sit in one and wind the siren. They have a lot of interesting pieces of fire equipment history and I learned a lot but it was also accessible and engaging for the kids. 5/5 stars, highly recommend!

First the staff made it a very informative and down to earth experience. The museum is small but packed with equipment and artifacts of the fire service. It was a fun side trip from Louisville for a fire buff.

What a great discovery. I was in Louisville hanging out when I found this museum in close-by jeffersonville, Indiana. The apparatus on display are so well preserved it’s incredible, especially since some of the pieces date back to 1680. They even have an engine built in my home city of Pawtucket, RI, where our department went full time in 1874. The history in this place is entrancing, especially if you’re in the fire service. And the volunteers that provide the tour are retired firefighters that are passionate and knowledgeable. they even have great interactive displays for the kids so they can see how fires start, and what to do if they occur. Such a great place. Can’t recommend it enough.

If you are a fire buff, you definitely need to see this exhibit. It's not a regional display but fire fighting from before we were a nation up to earthly 20th Century. Many displays if old equipment, and old water mains, displays of hand gear and turn out gear.

Underappreciated gem. Tour guide had a wealth of information. The only thing I would suggest is a place, time, or video to sit down and watch midway through the tour; it's about an hour long and I was dying to sit down at the end of it.

We donated a fire hydrant wrench from I think the fifties they acted like they were glad to get it said they didn't have one like it.it was from California. Really nice guy at the front desk he was a firefighter from Louisville Ky.

Such a great experience! We are a homeschool family and the kids wanted to take a field trip to see the vintage fire equipment. We ended up getting a tour/history lesson on all different types of fire fighting equipment and a fire safety lesson. I learned so much myself! Tickets are very reasonably priced and the experience is worth every dollar. Consider leaving a donation if you are able. This is a treasured collection we are very lucky to have access too!
