Visited with my daughter and our dog on July 31, 2021. Having never been before I was a little concerned with how “dog friendly” the horse park actually would be. To our surprise, the entire horse park is a wonderful park and everyone was stopping to pet our dog and speak to us about her. My daughter had a great time seeing all of the horses in the park. That evening we were able to take in a show (see pictures) and even sit in the stand with our dog. My daughter has been begging me to take her back to the Kentucky Horse Park soon. I hope to sign her up for the summer camp if it returns next year. I would highly recommend this beautiful park to anyone thinking about visiting!

This place is amazing 👏 there Is quite a bit of stuff to do during the off season which we visited during (winter) we went to the 2 museums and met the police and draft horses! This place is a great place go visit. However it better to visiting outside of winter when there is more things going on

First time here at the horse park. What a lovely day to visit such a lovely place. We enjoyed a carriage ride by the two draft horses as the lovely tour guide explained the park. This place is amazing. This park is so large it would take a whole day to see it all. We enjoyed the museum. It showed the history of horses, the racing trophies and the Derby clothes that people wore throughout the years. We took pictures with Funny Cide the 2003 derby winner. Thank you to the officer who introduced us to her horse.

Great park to see former champions and maybe learn a little more. They have a nice set up for kids, but this park is for all ages. Former Derby winner Funny Cide steaks the show. Paul, who you'll find very near to Funny makes the experience exponentially better. He is very knowledgeable and gives the park and Funny a voice worth hearing. Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic time! We got to the park early and purchased trail riding tickets. It was perfect for my novice riders. We went on a Sunday so the Cafe and restaurant were both closed. We purchased water and a small snack, but we left the park to eat lunch. Beautiful grounds. Great family experiences!

We stopped at the Saddlebred Museum first, which I would recommend. You can buy tickets there for the rest of the park, and it's less busy. The staff was all very friendly, some with golf carts offering to help shuttle people from barn to barn. We missed the meet and greets, but still met a police horse and a draft horse named Gus (we were told he's a fan favorite and understand why). I was excited that there was a restart on site, but the food could've been better. Overall, we had a great time, and our kids (all ages) had a great time, too.

I unfortunately called this place after hours right before the sun was completely down. I don’t think I got the traditional experience, however I did walk around the property. I got to see some of the Hall of Fame horses relatively close, got to see the stables up close where they held some of the horses and learn some history about the sport. This property was massive and seemed to be very well-kept. I don’t know too much about it, but it was pretty fascinating and I would absolutely love to come back another time during the day and get more of the traditional experience. If you’re looking for a unique experience I think this is definitely a good place to go if you’re not from Kentucky. It seems there’s a lot of local heart poured into this sport and facility.

We had the BEST time. I think the Big Barn was the overall favorite but all stops were fantastic. I do wish they showcased a few more breeds during the breed show- we were enjoying it so much! If planning a trip, check the events calendar and you may be able to catch a competitive horse show while visiting- which we loved. Highly recommend!

Really great place to learn the “horsestory” since the beginning of their time. The international museum inside was so insightful, I couldn’t believe how big it truly was. So much to see here once you leave the museum, there are even police horses here! Some retired standard bred horses live here now, so cool!

So did you know that if you buy a ticket for one day you can get in the next day free? That's pretty awesome because there's a LOT to see. We spent the first day doing the outlying buildings like the Big Barn, the scheduled shows at 10, 1, and 3; the Kids Barn (because I could & I'm embracing my inner kid!) The visitor center films, etc. The next day we came back & went through the museum and had a blast learning and petting horses and hanging out with the cool volunteers/staff. Everyone was super friendly and loved sharing their knowledge of the town, the horses, the history, the best places to eat, etc. It's really a cool place with affordable prices and just a great way to spend a day or weekend! You should check it out! I will definitely be coming back!

A beautiful place, full of equine history! We went here for the Liberty Festival but made time to drive around the grounds to see the beautiful views. You must stop in and take the tour of the museums and barns. Lastly, we visited the final resting place of the great Man O' War and War Admiral.

Even if you don't know anything about horses this place is great. It's a beautiful facility with many things to see and do. Learning about the history of man and horse was very interesting. You will learn much more than just the history of race horse's but that was great too.

I took my out of town guest over here, she was a horse racing fan. I didn't realize that there was only one parade of horses and it was ending as we got there. Check times of events so you won't be disappointed. The best thing is that they give you a second day admission free, so if it hadn't been raining the next day we would have gotten to see it then. Very nice staff. We were able to catch a cart from one event to the next.

Beautiful area. A lot of activities. Up close and personal with many horses Around 3 or so they let the horses out into the pastures till the next morning. We missed that. I would recommend checking that out. Thundering hooves and playful horses would be a site to see as well. I grew up around horses early in my life. I still enjoyed it.

Wonderful place to visit if you are in the least interested in horses. I visited for BreyerFest, an event for model horse collectors like me. Visited with husband and another couple who are collectors. I will say that in July you will likely be subjected to some pretty miserably hot conditions for most of the park, but the visitor center & other buildings are well climate controlled, including the Alltech Arena where many large events take place. Visitor Center has nice gift shop with something for everyone, including cold drinks & snacks. It also has nice clean restrooms. Leashed dogs are welcome nearly everywhere in the park, but be aware of your pet’s needs for cooling down in the Summer. There are fun things for kids to do, such as pony rides, opportunities to pet animals and a playground. I plan to return in nicer weather to experience some things that I missed, such as the museum & trail rides. There is a large campground with water & electric and also primitive tent camping. We tried to stay there, but waited too long to book, so RV sites were full. Next time I will book far in advance & go in Fall or Spring!

So glad we decided to go here! We had a great day. The gentleman in the Champion Barn shared some of his knowledge and brought one of the horses out for us to see. We went horseback riding around the park. The gift shop has a lot of cute stuff. We did the scavenger hunt in the museum and got a blue ribbon for finding everything. I would recommend stopping by!

This place is amazing for Horse lovers! Parking was $6 to get in the gate. It was never over crowded, plenty of space! The Museums included in the admission were informative and a nice place to walk indoors. The staff was very friendly. You can see the shows at certain times, but you can visit with the horses at any time! Only $30 for a trail ride, we did that both days. Your ticket is good for 2 days which is an amazing benefit. Your almost guaranteed not to see the same show twice, as the mix up the horses they bring out. Even before we arrived I emailed some questions and was responded to very quickly and very friendly. Talking to employees, visiting the museums and being around the animals I learned so much! This was a trip of a lifetime for my daughter! We have tons of pictures to remind us of former champions, different breeds and petting everything.

Beautiful campground. Excellent amenities. I can't wait to go back next year. Also loved the bicycle event held there. Clean, fun, so much to do!

Wow!! This place is amazing. I imagine in the spring and summer it's rather busy. We went in late fall early winter, and it wasn't very crowded, which made for an excellent visit. We got to learn all about horses, see amazing pieces, and even pet real winners. Check out this sculpture of secretariat, zoom in on it, and all the metal is horse related shapes!! It's such a wonderful place with amazing staff!

I recently visited the Kentucky Horse and had a really good time. The museum tour was very informative. I have never seen such beautiful horses. The staff is very warm and welcoming. I highly recommend anyone visiting Lexington to go to the Kentucky horse park

This place is great! There's so much to see and do. Our family visited as my daughter is infatuated with horses. There is a ton of history and some awesome horses on site. She got to pet almost all of them and even fed a Kentucky Derby winner by hand. They also have 2 of the 7 horses in history to have ever won the pace horse triple crown for you to see. There are several attractions throughout the grounds and the staff were so friendly. A must visit if you're in the region.

Great place to learn about horses and see some beautiful ones. Everything from miniature horses to the biggest ones on earth. Even some retired famous race horses. Attended one one of the shows they have and it was very good. The on site restaurant was very good. The selection was small but the freshness was good.

BEAUTIFUL facility. We were here for this year's 3-Day and it was very well run (not our first time here). Staff and volunteers were all super nice and helpful. Parking was relatively easy. Food and beverages were reasonably priced for an event like this. Clean porta potties. Grounds were really well kept. The event was very well run... on time and easy to get info about what was happening when.

Beautiful property, well maintained but not overly flashy. Poor view of main arena from ground-level but the fields were lovely. Went for the 3 Day Event and was impressed with the jump designs and use of the terrain.

First time to experience a horse park and get to see a variety of horses and hear a little history of each. They also have horses shows, jumping competitions, and a museum. If you are up for it, they even offer horseback trail riding. We enjoyed our visit.

Lovely place to walk and enjoy the many horse breeds that are represented there. It is a beautiful park with pony and horseback riding available. There are museums and many barns to get up close and personal with the horses. I went there for an event that brings horses and riders from all over the world.

We enjoyed our visit. There is a lot to see. It was neat going in the different barns and looking at all of the horses. The shows through our the day are a must see so you get a glimpse of the horses in action and learn a lot more. The museums are very detailed and informative. They have a ton of reading. Be prepared to walk. It takes a bit to get from A to B. Overall we enjoyed our time and it was well worth the stop. Overall we did expect to see more horses. With name we expected every paddock to have a horse. Horses were only in barns and there were some empty stalls. It was a cooler day when we visited.

Interesting to see the horses and the barns. Good amount of walking to get to it all. We went in fall which just was beautiful . The different buildings to see the history of different things was cool to see and read about. We watched some of the shows withthe horses and that was worth seeing so pay attention to the time. My granddaughter enjoyed going on a horseback ride which is an extra cost for that but she loved. Worth going to and experience it.

So excited to see the museum and all the history displayed beautifully. The grounds were equally beautiful with all the trees changing colors providing a gorgeous backdrop. The horses were so amazing and surprisingly larger when close up. I am happy we made an extra stop to see the Kentucky horse park.

Words can't describe the beauty of this place. From the property to the staff you couldn't ask for a better time. The ladies that do the horseback rides are all astonishing at what they do and the way they react with adults and kids. This place deserves more then 5 stars!!!

This was my 3rd time there. I love this place. This time the 3 day event was in full swing & it was such a blast. Rob the supervisor I spoke with was really informative & we discussed things with horses that you normally don’t get to do on tours. I finally realized that this is where I need to be. I need to work with horses & take my degree to the next level & go into shelter medicine as well. I know where I am supposed to be & now the planning begins. Everyone who works at the park are amazing people. I have loved the past couple of years of the random conversations & laughs I have had. Definitely a must 10-10. My daughter has a blast & she was in love with all the horses.

We stopped here randomly while in Lexington. I don't know much about horses and it was awesome to see all the different horse breeds and learn more about them. The presentation of the racing winners was very interesting as well. The museum was full of different displays of horses throughout history.

Went to Southern Lights and it was great as usual! The park itself in other seasons is beautiful.

No direction was given after ticket purchase. Got lost on grounds until inquired about how to get into the proper buildings. Entrance was a tiny wooden gate with no signs hidden behind a set of stairs and bushes. Dirt walking path was flooded with water and no care was put into adding gravel or wood chips for visitors. Our shoes and socks were soaked. Vending was either out of order or only offered Dasani water (contains salt) or soda pop which did little to quench thirst after all the walking. Map we were given had no directional compass and was poorly made and not to scale. Two of the horses in one of the buildings were laying on the floor looking I'll and no staff was around to see to them. One of the draft horses in the big barn had sad eyes and favored one hoof which looked like it hurt him. No notice was on website of events schedule and events were spaced far apart. We arrived in the late morning but no events were until 1:30 pm. Wandered around bored and sad about the sick horses and got lost for two hours and then left before the first event. Won't ever return.
