Holiday in was great! Our rooms were serviced regularly, staff were friendly but at times pretty tied up in their own conversations. Good walking distance to many areas of downtown. Breakfast was much better than expected, multiple options and well cared for. Definitely a step above the traditional continental breakfast!

We enjoyed the location, as we were doing a tour of the Louisville Slugger Museum, and we could walk from the hotel. Parking was convenient. Complimentary breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. However, I ended up with over 20 bites the next day. This was the first leg of our trip, so I am 100% positive they came from this hotel. I called the hotel and spoke with the manager to alert them to bed bugs. He said they would investigate. I called again to follow up, and he said they didn't find any active ones, but probably remnants (poop), which is evidence to bed bugs (in addition to all of my bite marks). He said they chemically treated the room, but they did not do the heat treatment. So, be sure to check your room very carefully to avoid suffering from these bites! We stayed on the top floor - room 823.

Updated Review: Due to a wicked winter storm we had to cancel our drive to Florida and our stay at this hotel. Despite being slightly outside the free cancellation window, in light of the storm the hotel graciously agreed to provide us a refund and contacted Bookings.com to help us get a full refund through them. John from the hotel was very kind and good to work with. We hope to stay at the hotel soon but learned a valuable lesson here about Kentucky kindness. Thank you Jon and the hotel.

If I could give 0 stars or even negative stars I would. Definitely the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. When we booked, we had booked for a king bed, when we arrived they gave us two “queen” beds. Normally I wouldn’t mind this, but it was our honeymoon and we were not wanting to have two beds. When we went to the front desk to tell them about the mix up, the employee said loudly in front of everyone “ we could still have fun on two beds”. Disgusting comment and unprofessional as we didn’t need the whole lobby hearing what we could do on our honeymoon. Aside from that, the hotel is disgusting and dirty. The room had a strong smell of moth balls and there was poop left behind the toilet. The attitude of the general manager was also very unprofessional. We left after being there for two hours and were told by the hotel we would receive a refund. Lies. The general manager who has proven to be impossible to get ahold of unless you threaten to sue has gone back on what we were told as it is “within his rights to charge us anyway”. Overall, very disappointed, disgusted, and I will NEVER stay at such a nasty hotel ever again.

Checked in late night. Was tired and ready to settle in. It took two receptionists to find our reservation. We were then notified that parking was $20 per day. I was also informed that only the "suites' were handicapped accessible. I had to wash up for the three nights we stayed because of the high step in tub with no rails. The fan in the bathroom didn't work so the smell of bathroom business filled the air in the small space. The cleaning person came into my room and threw away personal items including my room key by not paying attention to what he was doing. When I spoke up, he tried to retrieve and hand them back to me!! Breakfast was lame and the same every day. I wouldn't recommend this place. Oh, did I mention the racket from the remodel??? 2/10.

Great hotel and location to downtown and the interstate. If you want to grab a bite to eat, walk down to 4th & Liberty and you’ll have plenty of reasonable choices. Note that after 6pm you can park for free anywhere on the street there is a meter around the hotel, otherwise you’ll have to pay either $14 or $20 @ one of the neighboring parking garages, which is my only complaint.

First time passing through Louisville, I will come back to see the area and to stay here specifically. The lobby is clean and inviting, friendly service even at a later hour. The room was easy to access; also very clean and stylish. Slept great after a long day and couldn’t be happier to have stayed.

Stayed the better part of two weeks while my mom was in ICU at Norton hospital. They were extremely courteous and worked with me from the entire time, allowing late checkouts and extending my stay day by day because of our uncertain schedule. The room was great, but the staff made this experience quite possibly the best hotel experience I've ever had!

This hotel did not disappoint. Check in went smoothly. The hotel was spotless and the room was great. Large in room refrigerator and the bed was super comfy. Breakfast was phenomenal! One of the few hotels after Covid that has brought back hot cooked breakfast.

Almost the best experience we've had in louisville hotels. The desk clerk was very professional. welcoming and friendly. The room was great. However, The breakfast was VERY disappointing there were no bagels. Eggs were dry, only skim milk, no pancakes or waffles, machine broken note said. Out of yogurt cereal selection was flakes 3 types no variety. Not what is expected from a hotel. Will definitely be back for the room and service when visiting Louisville. Will plan on eating out. 😋

Nice staff clean rooms decent gym. No AC in gym at time of stay. They have a pretty good breakfast but don’t plan your day around it being out on time, some days it is some days you’ll be waiting. All and all pretty good stay. 1 week later: Second week here. Same scenario with breakfast. Sometimes right on time sometimes 30min late. Makes it hard to plan when here on business. Still no A/C in gym or lobby.

I’m sorry everyone, but no matter how nice the room is, how great the location is, or how modern the hotel is, that can’t make up for the fact they have no AC, in the summer, in their lobby/workout room. It is stifling hot to eat breakfast or exercise. Also, it’s ridiculous for the employees to work in it. And looking at the reviews, sounds like it’s been going on for at least a week. It’s really unacceptable for being a downtown quality hotel.

I have only positive reviews for this Hotel. We stayed the night of May 14th 2023. The overall look of the hotel was modern and clean. The room was a decent size. The room actually smelled nice when we arrived (that is a big plus). The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a parking garage located next to the hotel so parking is not an issue. It's location allows you to access many attractions quickly. Thank you for the nice stay Holiday Inn Express and Suites.

Despite this being an "Express," there was no pool, which was a little disappointing. Don't even try the free internet. I couldn't connect for more than a few minutes at a time. Also, the walls don't keep out noise very well. Other than that, the rooms were good, and the beds were comfortable. The elevators are card activated and there is a security guard at the front.

Was very pleased with the price and quality of this hotel. Very clean and modern. Staff was over the top amazing! Lamont took great pride and care in preparing the breakfast and keeping the cafe spotless even when it was busy. Give this man a raise! He’s amazing! If he can impress that upon me his dedication and care in 10 min. You have someone special on your hands.

We had a good experience, although we didn't spend much time at the hotel. We dropped our stuff off before dinner and then went to the Jack O Lantern Spectacular, so we really only were there to sleep and eat breakfast. The breakfast was your typical continental breakfast, but was yummy. I would consider staying here again. The staff was all very friendly throughout our stay. My only complaint would be that the 'darkening shade' on our window would only stay all the way down or all the way up, for some reason we couldn't get it to stay in place halfway to still let light in.

I’ve travelled a ton and have stayed in a lot of hotels but I had never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express until this weekend. Might I say, I was fairly impressed. Check in was easy and the receptionist was sweet and helpful. The room was very spacious and had all the necessities. Fridge, microwave, nice bed, and nice view. The location was awesome. Easy access to the interstate. Having to use your room key to get in the hotel after a certain time was a plus as well. I can definitely see myself booking another room here in the future 🙂

We had a wonderful stay. Breakfast ample and very good. Reception Staff very friendly and helpful. Could do an easy walk to Downtown and our car was safely parked in the secure parking garage

Excellent location. Easy to get to from the interstate. Staff was very polite and helpful. Paying to park is never fun, but I get it. My only real reason for not giving five stars is that the A/C in our room (724) was extremely loud. Otherwise, I'd recommend staying here.

It’s peaceful, and the food’s alright. However, room I stayed in (303) smelled like feet or cheese or something. Either way, the smell was unpleasant. The towels didn’t smell totally clean, and there was some fuzz on them. I didn’t expect them to smell super aromatic or anything, but the smell was a bit off. Also, on the first night the bed made me all itchy.

Great location within walking distance of so many attractions. The hotel is clean and the atmosphere is quite peaceful. Our room was very clean and pretty spacious. Included a king bed, couch, refrigerator, microwave, and nice size shower. The bed was incredibly comfy! The breakfast needs some help. There was a good variety including bread, bagels, pancakes, eggs, potatoes, and sausage. The eggs were not hot, the sausage patties were not cooked done, the sausage links were overcooked and greasy. Good juice variety and there were a couple different Greek yogurt flavors. I will return, yet I will probably skip the breakfast.

A very nice hotel with plenty of rooms that are well kept. The staff were all friendly and helpful, they answer the phone promptly and check in was easy. We had a wonderful stay here for derby weekend and would absolutely stay again. we had three rooms and each one was clean. The lobby is beautiful, and the hotel was easy to locate and is close to the lovely downtown area of Louisville.

Great service the room was super clean. I definitely will stay there again. The bed felt like one big pillow. The staff was the best that I've had at any hotel I've ever been in. The staff member got me up to my room within 3 minutes. I just want to thank them for the great hospitality.

Right away at check-in we were greeted by a very kind front desk lady. She gave us a map and showed us how we could get around, as well as explaining the parking options and what she thought was the best deal. Our room was clean, and spacious. The added bonus of the microwave and refrigerator was very convenient to keep our food/drinks cold and warm up any food. We didn’t hear any noise from other rooms, very peaceful and quiet, only heard outside traffic etc, which is to be expected in a large city. Shower was huge and modern! The breakfast was delicious. So many options: cinnamon rolls, bread, prepackaged bakery, bagels, make your own pancakes, sausage cereal, and a variety of drink choices. There was an older lady and a gentleman workers in the breakfast area who were so welcoming and nice to have conversation with, kept making sure we had everything we needed. We would stay again! It is a very hospitable hotel and the location was great for walking to downtown, and even getting to check out 4th street live! Thank you again to the hotel employees making us feel welcome, and providing us with a safe, clean place to stay on our vacation!

Good location and the front desk staff are super helpful. However, the floor in my room was obviously not vacuumed prior to me checking in and the hallways and elevator floors were covered in crumbs and dirt. Nice people with a seriously bad cleaning problem. I will not stay here again…. Go to the hotel across the street. It is much cleaner…

👍👍 We were so impressed with our stay at this hotel. We stayed on a Tuesday night - so it was not busy but we did not expect how quiet it would be! It was awesome!
