The hotel is definitely iconic, and the lobby is unbelievably beautiful. The valet staff was very friendly, professional, and fast! Special mention the both Jalen for an amazing customer service. The room was very disappointing though. No mini fridge, very small, and not great amenities. Couldn't even get an upgrade as a Diamond member. Breakfast was OK, but overpriced and nothing to get excited about. The front desk staff was for the most part very friendly and professional. It did at times feel as if they were "annoyed" with questions, and not the best Diamond treatment. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the location is ideal, I sadly wouldn't stay there again though based on amenities and price.

I was so lucky to get to stay at this beautiful hotel. Everyone was so nice, the amenities were awesome, but of all of the great people and the services they provided, one person stood out above all, and that was the valet, Dawson. Not only was he very efficient and quick at parking and retrieving our cars, he was also extremely knowledgeable about the hotel and the downtown area. He knew of all the great local spots we should visit during our trip and he even gave us information on the best times to go to these places to avoid large crowds. I was very impressed with this young man. Please tell him thank you so much for helping to make our trip amazing!

Seelbach Hotel was a beautiful hotel with great history in a great spot in Louisville within a 10 minute drive of everything you want to see in the city except Churchill Downs which is a few minutes further. While it was nice, there were a few things that will prevent me from returning and staying there again. 1) Parking is not free. Not a huge deal, but for the price you pay, parking should be included for guests. 2) Lack of house maid service. I don't need my room cleaned everyday but I stayed there 4 nights and never received it. Heck, they could have at least emptied my trash cans and checked toiletries at the minimum. Even on a day where I request maid service early and they said they would have them stop by, I did not get it. 3) Shower was gross and did not drain. 4) No Water in the rooms. They have a cooler by the front desk and they charge you for them, but what is funny is you can ask them for water and they will give you some for free. So when I grabbed a water, why didn't you let me know as a guest in your hotel that they have free waters for guests? I was just disappointed in the service I got for the price I paid.

This was an amazing stay, we can't wait to come back. We took the historical tour, had the offered breakfast buffet. The staff was kind, courteous, available, and so helpful. We just left this morning and are already talking about a return trip. Other reviews complain about small rooms and showers, we found it all perfectly comfortable and appreciated the history left in the building.

I stayed 4 nights during a National Volleyball Tournament (4/7/22 - 4/11/22). The room was spacious and well maintained for being an older hotel. Everyone on staff was very polite and accommodating, and made sure everything was going well during the entire stay. Housekeeping also did an excellent job freshening up the room on a daily basis. Saturday night, we did a "history of the hotel" tour with hotel security supervisor, Patrick. He brought us to many "behind the scenes" areas and rooms of the hotel. The Rathskeller room in the basement was one of the coolest rooms I've ever seen, and the stories of all the historical key players that have ties to it were amazing. Never saw the ghosts who are claimed to haunt the hotel, but I was always looking! Very intriguing! Old Seelbach Bar was fantastic! Every kind of bourbon you could think of! It was an awesome ambience and service was excellent. Several parents from our team came downtown to hang out and I brought them to the Old Seelbach Bar between venues were were visiting. Their experience in the bar and the front lobby was enough to get their interest to stay there in the future. Special THANK YOU to: Alicia, Camrann & Patrick from hotel staff and Virginia & David from bell/valet service for being so kind and making my experience the best it could be! I will be back!

We ducked into the Seelbach to have a drink, but ended up having an exceptionally good dinner, as well. The service is top-notch (Brittany at the bar knows how to make her customers feel well-cared for). The food was exceptionally good and Brittany was a champ at helping me get a vegan meal squared away. On top of that, we had the best Old-Fashioned cocktails we have ever had. It was so good, I ended up having two (which is unusual for me). Once we were done dining in that lovely bar, we took a few minutes to check out the lobby and the upstairs. This historic property overflows with luscious design and architectural details. It's so beautiful. All in all, the service is fantastic, the drinks are divine, and the food is the best we had during our stay in Louisville. Our evening playing hooky from my conference at the KICC turned out to be the best night we had all week. If we find ourselves in Louisville again, you can be sure we will be spending more time at the Seelbach.

For $300/night (after tax) you would expect better. Although we booked through a travel portal (and yes this was the cheapest rate!) we were placed in a basic small room with a full size uncomfortable bed (booked a queen), loud AC unit, loud, rowdy neighbors, and terrible wifi in the hotel. The history of the hotel was interesting and the concierge was pretty solid. However, room service was attentive and the staff was helpful for their honors members (too bad we couldnā€™t combine my diamond status with our stay). The gym was the best part of the stay (completely empty, free water) aside from us simply using the hotel as a place to rest our head for the conference at the convention center. Probably would skip the Seelbach in the future and stay at the Hyatt in the future.

This is going to be a mixed review. We stayed here over the weekend for a wedding. Biggest con: our car was broken into while in the care of the valet service. More on this later The smallish Cons: there was no mini fridge in the room, which was a little bit of a bummer. The rooms were kind of small. There was a coffee or soda stain splattered on a wall near the baseboard in our room which was kind of gross. Felt a bit weird there was no duvet cover, but instead the duvet was just sandwiched between two sheets. The pros: bed was comfortable, pillows were plush and luxurious, shower amenities were nice, and the service was honestly wonderful throughout our stay. From the moment we arrived until we left, everyone we encountered was friendly and kind. The biggest shout out I want to give is to Virginia, the valet manager. When our car was brought out front and we opened the doors, it was pretty evident that someone had gone through our vehicle. A Starbucks coffee I left in my cup holder was turned upside down on my seat, the glove compartment was open, the items in my console were gone (nothing valuable), and my phone charger that connects my vehicle to my car for navigation was gone and I didnā€™t have an extra. I spoke with Virginia and she was respectful, she was concerned, she was so kind and understanding that I was upset, and she explained that the night before there had been reports of 4 guys going around looting cars. Then she gave me her personal phone charger to replace mine and she gave me a hug. Honestly that completely turned my day around. So was this hotel perfect? Not quite. But overall I was comfortable and I was impressed with the quality and kindness of the staff. Thank you Virginia.

Hotel staff were very nice and accommodating. We got in on Friday evening checked in online and was told we can go directly to our room abs use the digital key. Did that and the key didnā€™t work. Had to go to the front desk to get a key. Once inside we get settled and look over by the window and see 2 dead roachā€™s. Called the front desk the immediately charged our room. We went out came back later the AC wasnā€™t working. They again immediately moved our room. This 3rd room of the night also had roaches in the room. At this point we decided to check out and switch hotels

We were only at the hotel for one night, and wish we had more time. It's a very cool hotel with a rich history. The rooms are very nicely sized. The overall feel is vintage, but you aren't lacking any of the modern amenities. You absolutely have to check out Capone's hangout too.

Lovely hotel!! The staff is very professional and seem to take pride in their jobs. I was asked repeatedly if I needed help with my bag. Our room was very small BUT itā€™s a historic hotel. The reason I didnā€™t give it 5 stars is because our bathroom was awful. Took 5-10 min to get hot water to shower, the shower door hit the toilet, you sit against the wall while on the toilet, things were held up or together with Velcro, the shower head was loose and could be flopped around and for some reason the shower door didnā€™t keep water in. The floor was always wet. With that being said I enjoyed my stay very much. This hotel is gorgeous and I like being near to everything downtown.

Hilton Diamond member here. This review is specifically for the hotel facilities, not the restaurants. Iā€™ll echo what others have said: Pros: lobby and mezzanine are lovely and rich in history. They are a bit dated, but I could see this being a great place for an event like a wedding reception. A lot of cool old Kentucky art and memorabilia. The fitness area is larger than I expected and has a good selection of workout options. All my interactions with the staff were good. Bed was comfortable and clean. Cons: probably the strangest and most disappointing room Iā€™ve stayed I in for a long time. The room was very small. The shower was tiny and dated. The air temperature was either freezing or roasting. The doors are really old and donā€™t properly close, so much that light comes in from the hallway. I get that this is a ā€˜historicā€™ hotel, but it was not a great hotel room experience. This hotel is about a 0.8mi walk to whiskey row, if thatā€™s what you are coming to town for. It is very close to the Live on 4th area though.

This hotel is beautiful from the moment you walk in! We were immediately greeted by Kevin who was an absolute joy! He was extremely helpful and gave us tons of recommendations of places to check out during our stay. Quincy was also a huge help with getting our bags and was very friendly! The staff was definitely a 10/10! Everyone that worked there you could tell loved their job and they were passionate about what they do! The location was also fantastic! We were just a few steps away from Fourth Street Live! We were also near tons of famous bourbon companies and did several bourbon tours!! The hotel itself is beautiful and filled with tons of interesting history! It was fun to explore and learn more. As for the actual rooms, we were slightly disappointed. Overall we felt like the rooms could be better but the service and location made up for it!

Nick was a great help today for the large event we had in the Medallion Ballroom. He pulled our car up quick. The hotel is beautiful and I would love to stay here soon. Very old school and the staff was happy to help any way they could. I would recommend this 10/10 to anyone wanting to plan or host events here.

The building is beautiful, and old but well maintained and allergy friendly. The bathroom in our room was tiny, but functional. We told the front desk about my feather allergy and they made sure the room was cleaned, aired out, and the filter for the AC unit was swapped before our stay. While we were there it was difficult to get the attention of the front staff sometimes. The phone key system needs to be more fluid. It's cool, and means you don't have to have a physical key from the hotel, but it is just not there yet. The physical key we had was much easier to use during our stay. I would stay at this hotel again if I was in the area.

What a treat this visit was! Excellent service, luxurious bedding (linens, mattress, pillows), every staff member was most pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and quiet. I recommend using the valet services, it was worth the few extra dollars. It was a short walk to some very good restaurants and live entertainment. A true bonus... the History! We will visit again!

I always come to Louisville with my ballet company, on tour has been coming since 2008. I had stayed in many places and at The Seelbach Hilton before. But on Nov 3rd at the checking I had the worst experience by the front desk supervisor. Iā€™m not sure what her name is, but she was working around 4pm. Our ballet company booked a room for 2 days. I checked in with the group got to my room and didnā€™t like it, windows were dirty and a horrible noise coming from the next door room, plus there were no light. I came back downstairs and asked, if I could change the room, and she said they were booked. She didnā€™t even checked in the computer. Just simply said that. She said come tomorrow maybe we will have availability. I left and felt her very rude, I came back again with friend he asked another front desk lady we explained to her. I wanted to change rooms, with a second as we are explaining, the same lady weā€™ve spoke previously comes across the room and simply says: I already spoke to them! At this point I believe itā€™s very annoying, I checked hotel website and thereā€™s plenty of rooms. Meaning if I wanted to book a new room I could, because they were available, and not all rooms were booked as she stated before. So my question was why, just not change the room? Itā€™s so simple! I asked my tour manager (sheā€™s white) to come down and help. She shows up asked to change the room, a different lady in the front desk helps and gets me a new room( problem solved in 5min) no one treated her with rudeness, one of the staff members came to her room, help her switch rooms previously brought her keys personally. Iā€™m thinking they just told me they didnā€™t had a room, I mention to my tour manager you just had yours changed it! Iā€™m so confused. In the mean time the whole team at the front desk already KNEW! I wanted to change room. I was there for 30min trying to get a new room. I felt very disrespected and clearly this was racism and itā€™s so disappointing! We are in 2023 staff members in hospitality has to do better. Itā€™s unacceptable! I changed the room come downstairs to give the old key to the front desk lady and my friend says we were able to change the room and she answers with sarcasm: Super! Clearly no apologies at all. I will never stay here again. I do not support a racist hotel or racist staff members.

A grand historic hotel, close to many restaurants and entertainment establishments. If you're a fan of the more historical, you'd definitely be a fan of the hotel - the furnishings are grand, although all the modern amenities are here. If you're a fan of more modern or minimalist hotels, the decor probably won't be what you're looking for, but as part of the Bourbon trail the hotel lives up to its stately reputation. Staff are friendly, especially the breakfast staff. Only minor complaint I had was a slight rattling noise during the night - I suspect either an ice machine or similar. It may have impacted light sleepers.

This is a nice swanky hotel. Old and lots of history in it. If youā€™re looking for a modern hotel, this is not the answer. If you are looking for a place that you can wear a custom three piece suit and a top hat you are in the right spot. Great ambience. The bar is very nice with an incredible selection of fine whiskeys and bourbon.

  • 5/5 Michael D. 7 months ago on Google
The location is perfect right in the heart of the Fourth Street entertainment district. However, there were quite a few homeless individuals laying on the sidewalks in the area. Despite that, it felt very safe. The hotel is an architectural wonder that makes you feel like you are back in the 1920s. It is just stunning. The bar has a huge selection of bourbons. I donā€™t love bourbon but the Minted Gold cocktail was really good. The pretzel with beer cheese was a nice snack. The room and bathroom were small, and there wasnā€™t any counter space in the bathroom though I used the window sill. Because itā€™s an old hotel this is to be expected and was not a deterrent. The bed and pillows were very comfortable though. I would definitely stay here again.

To anyone who's ever been skeptical about hotel price comparison websites, I can't recommend HoteIDuIIy.cį“m enough. The savings, like on this stay, are tangible and consistent. Had a great two day stay at this iconic classic hotel richly seeped in the themes and styles of the Gilded age through the Prohibition era. The hotel was immaculately clean, the staff were super helpful and accommodating and the location canā€™t be beat for easy access to all that down town Louisville has to offer. Only words of caution in this stay is that the streets in front can get very congested making it hard to arrive and depart at peak times. Also there is no room service which just seems missing at an establishment of this level of excellence. Also we booked on the second floor which isnā€™t behind the security access boundary, but had absolutely no problems and it was super quiet even being this close to the meeting areas and the street.

The hotel is very nice. It's got tons of stuff nearby. The breakfast is alright for the price, you might find better nearby for $20, but it is a buffet. The building is old, but we'll kept. The room I stayed in looked like it's getting ready to need a little TLC. It looks great and up to date, but little details need tending to. No fridge, and the room "feels small" but it's a decent enough size. Places to plug your devices in aren't very plentiful, but I'm sure that's par for the course on an old building like this. I'd stay here again, it has a historic feel to it plus the architecture inside is beautiful. Make sure to check out the basement.

Service was very good with every interaction with staff and breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, the experience was tainted with road closure next to hotel resulting in difficulty getting to the garage, extremely tight circular ramp in the garage, elevator closure in the garage, and hotel access from garage being closed. All of this required us to wheel our luggage down ramps in the garage, and walk all the way around the hotel to front doors. This was a very frustrating first impression. Our room was just large enough for the bed (which was comfortable). The lobby is stunning with plenty of architecture to be enjoyed.

This is my favorite favorite place to stay in Louisville. Not only is it beautiful with a rich history, but the people are amazing to work with. During our most recent visit for Derby 149, Derrick and Bradley at the front desk were amazingly helpful. Aidan at valet was quick, polite, and fast with our car. We love this place so much we even spoke with Ms. Tripp in the sales department to book the hotel for a small group event next month. Thanks to the whole Seelbach team for making our experience the best!!

Historic hotel within walking distance to almost everything in downtown Louisville. We've stayed here multiple times and plan to do so in the future. Take the hotel tour! It's free (tips suggested) and we'll worth your time.

My son and I stayed at recently. We loved the old charm of the hotel and the history. The lobby was beautiful. The rooms could have been better. The furniture was very dusty and the bathrooms were not great.

We really like staying at older hotels that were built when luxury was at the forefront... This exceeded our expectations!!! It's absolutely stunning inside and the location could not be better... The rooms were okay but nothing that wowed us... Which is kind of a bummer because the the rest of the building is gorgeous but the room was pretty plain, and we booked one of the nicer rooms... None of that would keep us from staying there again

It's like taking a step into the past in this historic hotel, which features its own historian and tour to take in all of the many unique features and stories that have come along with it. The service is excellent and the central location to Bourbon country, and downtown night life make this a must stay. The rooms are however, a bit small, which is typical for a city hotel. The rooms are in good shape, and we'll kept. Cleanliness is also rated high. The Rathskeller is a must see.

  • 3/5 Grant G. 1 year ago on Google
Overall the hotel is wonderful but the biggest issue is the air conditioning. When I arrived I set the air to 70 degrees and it stayed at 74 the entire time. It would be nice to have a mini fridge in the room but that isn't a deal breaker. They should definitely look into upgrading to window units or something to help cool these rooms off as it makes it difficult to sleep.

I am very glad that I stayed at this beautiful hotel. It has a lot of history going back to the early 1900ā€™s. The room was big and decorated nicely with a comfortable bed. However the bathroom was was way too small. There was only a toilet, sink and bathtub. No countertop and hardly any room to move around. It was very difficult to function in there. Since it is an old structure I guess there is little or no sound proofing. For two days we heard someone vomiting in the next room.

This is a charming hotel that has a fascinating history. The marble entrance, Italian chandeliers, and original woodwork will transport you back in time and living the roaring 20s in your mind. If you're able get a tour of the hotel from the concierre one should as you'll see parts of the hotel that make it unique to this city of Louisville and highlights the historical aspects of this hotel that opened in 1905. The staff are superb and there to assist as needed. It's been an experience that will stay with me and one of the more memorable hotels I've stayed in.

We stayed here for the weekend for my husbands birthday. the history of this hotel is so interesting! The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. I can't say enough how awesome the valet parking employees are they not only are they quick and efficient, they helped the hotel across the street as well when things got a bit backed up. Would definitely stay here again and recommend.

Shout out to the staff at The Seelbach! This is a really cool hotel, full of great stories, history, and charm. But it wouldn't be what it is without the amazing staff. I had a late arrival and needed dinner before restaurants closed. Dean and Carolina in valet were very helpful and accommodating. Shanetta and others at the front desk were very hospitable and took time to talk about the history of the hotel. They even have a guy giving daily tours and a looped video in the lobby retelling the old stories. Will definitely be back.

Look, I didnā€™t expect a legit 4 or 5 star hotel. Coming in for the Derby and paying a $1600 a night rate is fine. But this place is a just beat up with no pride of ownership. King room has water leaking in from AC stains and current leaks still going. Can be seen in many areas of hotel. Bathroom is unfit for anyone over 5ā€™ tall with a tub shower you have to duck to get in to. Hotel could be a nice story has someone bothered to remodel it and put any money back. It doesnā€™t even have the basics youā€™d get in a simple holiday inn or Marriott low end travelers hotel. Elevators beat up , cheap furnishings and a poor excuse for a buffet breakfast. The old bar is nice throw back and people are nice. Service a little backwards but you can deal with that. Come on, you took a old hotel and now have a old run down hotel. We wouldnā€™t come back here for the derby or a normal weekend even for 150 bucks a night. Someone with some pride of ownership and runs hotels should buy it , gut it , preserve character , and make it in to a legit 3 star cleaned up location. Thatā€™s what the rest of classic locations do around the country.

The most awesome beautiful historic Seelbach Hilton Louisville is a gem!! The history speaks for itself. Al Capone and his mobster fellas used this spot as a place to unwind after replenishing there stocks of moonshine and booze šŸ„ƒ to take back to the city. The Oak Room is elegant and nothing but nostalgic energy that fills the room. The crown molding and wood work is nothing that can be reproduced with everything being hand carved. If you appreciate historical sites and great service this is a must see. From the valet crew, front desk, and restaurant staff everyone is there to make your stay a unforgettable experience. 4th Street Live is just seconds away from the red carpet stairs of the Seelbach!

Very clean hotel! The staff here was amazing! I did not have a chance to get everyone's name that helped me and my family, but I did have a chance to talk with Rachel and Julian. They were so kind and helpful as we knew nothing about the downtown Louisville area. If you are traveling to Louisville for business or pleasure, I strongly recommend that you stay here. Thank you staff for your kindness

We loved this hotel. We found it to be clean and well maintained in all areas. Our room was beautiful and cozy (not too small, good size). We appreciated that the furnishings were not ultra modern, it's 100 year old hotel! The elevators were in good working order and plenty of them. The bar was nice, really good service. The restaurant was beautiful, but we did not eat there. Parking was a breeze, at the one right behind (attached) to the hotel. We felt very safe parking and coming and going. Nice area, walkable to some restaurants and bars. Highly recommend.

A lot can be said about this place. If you want the normal review of how fancy the room was, how the bar is on the 1st floor, etc this is not that review. The things I enjoyed and will share were: the windy hallways to get to the room; the raised ceilings; the old doors; the neat lights in the basement that reminded me of a revolver cylinder.

This historic place is so beautiful and definitely somewhere you need to stay if your looking for some history. The valet staff are the sweetest people around. Especially, Gracie. She is very formal and knows so much about this hotel and itā€™s history. Gracie told my family and I about her service in the military after high school. Thank you for your service Gracie! We appreciate you!

A truly beautiful and clean hotel. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing. The Rathenskellar was closed for a private event when we visited which was greatly disappointing but gives us a reason to visit in the future. The only advice I would give to someone contemplating a stay is to plan ahead for meals. The hotel options are pricey, as is everything within walking distance, and reservations are highly encouraged.

I am delighted to provide a glowing review for the Seelbach Hotel, a stunning property located in the heart of Louisville. This historic hotel is truly a gem, and its exceptional amenities and top-notch service make it an unforgettable destination for anyone visiting the city. One of the standout features of the Seelbach Hotel is its valet services, which are truly outstanding. The valet drivers are all professional, courteous, and efficient, but one driver in particular stood out during my stay: Cameron. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and his friendly demeanor and exceptional customer service skills left a lasting impression on me. Overall, I cannot recommend the Seelbach Hotel highly enough. If you are looking for a luxurious hotel in the heart of Louisville, the Seelbach is the perfect choice.

The staff and service was very good. Quincy, in valet services, was especially attentive. I would love to stay at the Seelbach Hilton again. :)
