The room was filthy. The floor was not mopped, the shower( that took a long time to get hot) the microwave was disgusting. There where meth/crack heads outside walking. Crack pipes in the parking spaces. A cracked out wonan was "surveying" my car and wanted money. So I'm sorry I can't recommend this place. Maybe in the future it will be better. This was just my experience.

The area it’s in is bad in general but that’s not really their fault. But the rooms look nothing like the pictures, me and my boyfriend didn’t even stay the full night. The door lock had already looked like someone beat down the door, the spa tub jets didn’t work at all, the dresser was broken, the box frame was stained, the sheets were dirty and they had cigarette burns in it. Needless to say we didn’t stay there much long.

I for one have to say that my 6 week stay has been very good. This hotel use to have a bad reputation. But it has done a 180' turn around.Due to better management as well as keeping the unwanted type of negativity away.Plus anyone can stop by ANYTIME and it's always full to capacity.Of course your going to have people who think that they should be treated like royalty. Is it perfect, no.But. I know that I'd have no problem telling others about staying with positive results. The biggest and best thing that has been done is putting a good manager in place.Willing to do whatever he can to ensure that everyone has a positive time while there.Danny (manager) Is about as nice and helpful as any manager I'VE ever been around.BOTTOM LINE. I WILL BE BACK.

For some reason they had myself my husband and our 3 year old son barred. I'm not sure why. If I had to guess is because we didn't come up with the money for the room by 12pm and I thought I would of but didn't work out we left no argument or fussing but later that day when we had the money for the room the girl said we were on the do not rent list now all the sudden. My husband is legally blind and awaiting his SSDI and we have a 3 year old son so there were times that we didn't have the money right on time but if not if they said we had to leave did son without issues. Even though they called the police without cause

I am all about a bargain motel but this is in fact a roach motel. I would normally say you get what you pay for but this is really bad and just laziness. Cigarette burns on the bedspreads and sheets, filthy floors, mold on the shower curtain, tiny towels, low water pressure, the bathroom mirror fell down and pretty sure the air vent hasn't been cleaned in ages. It also smells of old smoke, but the best part is i you get actual roaches with your stay. We didn't get bed bugs or lice so there's that and the front desk staff was really nice, obviously not there fault the place is a dump. Recommend if you want the full roach motel experience including fighting neighbors.

I have a lot to say so here goes! The moment I walked into the office, the manager was swift with getting us a room, I enjoyed the greetings I received upon entry. After being given the key card I went up to my room, very spacious and clean. The bed firm, yet soft was welcoming. Love the fact that they also have a tiny fridge which I thought was so cute, it had a separation of fridge and freezer not like those that have a tiny box inside the fridge. The microwave came in handy many times for my dinner needs, lol. It was clean and well placed right upon the fridge for convenience. When I finally went to lay down, I was able to entertain myself through their free wifi and many choices of channels on their tv, including Disney for my children. The night was quiet, though many people were coming and going I didn't hear anything the entire night. Oh! I need to mention also that they are pet friendly, they know that some of us look at our fur babies as family to us! I would recommend Budgetel to everyone, Pet friendly, free wifi, clean rooms on a cheaper budget!

Staff has done great for my stay so far. The TVs have been updated since my last stay and also even did a good job painting the buildings. Room was clean 110%. Very good location got a gas station next door and nice choice of restaurants in the area.

When I first arrived , the guy at the counter couldn’t figure out the computer system . After what felt like forever getting my room , it was half cleaned , dirty towels on the sink & floor , soap wrappers laying around , the remote had no batteries & half the Appliances either didn’t work or was unplugged .I was put next to 2 young females (mind you I have a 1 1/2 yr old daughter) that had people in & out of their hotel all through out the night . They would open their door & have a big blue tooth speaker blasting music until 5/6am . It did no good to call downstairs to the front desk because all they did was have them shut their door . I paid for a 2 night stay when I arrived . The next day I had a worker knock on my door 3 different times telling me it was time to go & that I didn’t pay for an extra night . So Finally he took my receipt that proved of my payment & apologized . It was a nightmare . There’s homeless people everywhere on the vicinity , so when you walk out your door you’re being bum rushed . I wouldn’t even rate this one star , they don’t even deserve that . There was only 1 female worker there that seemed to do her job , she was an older sweet lady who deserves to be working somewhere better.

Absolutely THE worst motel I've ever stayed in. The first room looked like it had been trashed then stuck back together with chewing gum and scotch tape. The sink was stopped up, maintenance said it was a serious problem. Oh, ya think? Oh and the AC barely worked The second room was tolerable. Water pressure was weak, the shower never got beyond a lukewarm dribble. Very noisy after dark, people screaming at the top of their lungs. Just awful

There was leftover Pizza Hut right outside our room when we arrived. Our first room smelled like an ashtray - like someone had just been in there smoking cigarettes. It was dirty and dingy and I thought about leaving all of our luggage and belongings in the car to keep it from being infested. We were able to swap rooms and got double beds. The room was equally as atrocious, but smelled less smokey and more musty. We were able to use one of the beds to put luggage on since there is no rack or a clean, flat surface otherwise. Both beds had stains on the mattresses/boxsprings which we could only imagine as being human bodily fluids. The walls were also stained and smeared. Only one working power outlet unless you unplugged the fridge. No hangers, minimal toilet paper, and towels stained with chunks! The bathroom was disgusting. There was no hot water. Taking a shower seemed useless for the purposes of getting clean. All of the rooms were wretched and nasty. Thank goodness we did not spot any roaches or bedbugs. The TV worked and they did provide a basket with toiletries. The staff was also polite and provided good customer service.

It's probably the best weekly rates in town....but it's a total dive. The neighborhood's great though.

Newly remodeled rooms are great. Danny and his staff go above and beyond their job description to help the guest. Whenever I'm in town sealcoating driveways aI always stay here because they are freaking awesome to deal with. Thanks again see you next time. Richard

Beware!! They will cancel your reservation, even if you booked it MONTHS in advance, and they will leave you without a place to stay during HUGE events (concerts, KY Derby, etc) in Louisville. You will arrive only for them to tell you your room has been cancelled. They are a horrible place of business!

They canceled our reservation for no reason! They have done this to a lot of people coming in from out of town. The disgusting looking manager is horrible. He has no customer service skills at all. DON'T STAY AT THIS PLACE. When we arrived on the parking lot, police were everywhere. Shady area and business practices. The city needs to condemn the building and shut it down!

My girlfriend rented a room at this place last weekend. For almost seventy dollars, this is what she got. A room that had a stained bathtub with mold around the corners of it, stained bathroom walls, and roaches in the corner of the bathroom floor. Stained bed linen that looked like bed bug stains on mattress pad. Trash was left under the bed, the floor was dirty, cracked furniture, a dirty refrigerator, no lamp in room, and to add to her horror, the bathroom mirror was cracked. Management was terrible, and the property needs to be condemned

WOW! The place should be permanently closed. Everything was dirty looking. Even some of the employees. Very rude attitudes. The rooms looked like their furniture was taken from a Junkyard. Bed sheets are not being changed. Housekeepers are not cleaning the rooms.

the budgetel is a-ok..stayed for a week on several occasions, rooms marble tile, hot showers, relatively quiet, microwave/refrigerator nice touch, over 12 restaurants within a mile, affordable rates for the week ,management friendly as well as housekeeping, I have seen negative reviews, but after 2 extended stays months apart I neither saw OR heard anything that would discourage me from staying in the future,If perfection is desired go to the Seelbach Hotel and spend hundreds a night...Kevin Abernathy

Booked a room for 3 nights 2 or 3 months prior to my trip and once I arrived they said couldn't find my reservation and when they finally did I was told me I was out of luck due to being sold out. The clerk couldn't even tell me what was the next closest place to stay. Which was 45 minutes away without traffic. Not to mention that budget had hicked up room prices for those attending the Louder than life festival.

This is one of the dirtiest motels in the city of Louisville. What a mistake. We booked through another source. The room was just plain filthy. The bathroom was disgusting and the bedding had hair on it. Trash was in left the nightstand, and the room smelled heavily of smoke. The entire shower curtain fell down and was dirty at the bottom with mold. The toilet had urine around the bottom of it. The lobby was dirty and the office smelled bad too. My goodness! NEVER AGAIN!

    - 9/21/21: I reserve my room for 9/22/22-9/26/22 - 9/22/22: I show up at noon to see about checking in, employee yells at me from a backdoor that we can't do so until 3pm. Check-in office is locked, I can't even go in there. - 9/22/22: I call the hotel at 12:30pm to inform them I will be checking in after the festival, the employee asks for my name and confirms my reservation. - 9/22/22: I return at 10:30pm, and am told that I do not have a room and "they have decided to go with prepay guests." This makes zero sense as they have printed out a price list for new guests and tapes it to their front door. This also happens to numerous other guests who shows up before me to try and check in. Absolutely horrible people.

To start, I expected very little by booking here. It was over 50% cheaper than the others though, so I figured I would just go to Walmart and grab whatever I needed to make the stay more bareable, should it require. At this rate per night, it was either this motel, or camping for only slightly cheaper. Something to keep in mind! So with that being said, here's my first day's honest review : Upsides; - Staff at checkin is very friendly even though we're in a busy period - AC is old and the case is beat BUT IT WORKS! Very important in 95F weather. - Lots of restaurants/stores nearby - Inexpensive! A lot of the "downsides" below are easily fixed for little money. Downsides; - Upon entering room, a strong smell of cigarettes, mold, and lack of air circulation all over. I sprayed a generous dose of Febreeze and will have to spray some more a couple of times a day. Bad smell is back after an hour or so. - The sheets have holes and different stains (blood, whatever other bodily fluids). I bought a new set of sheets at Walmart for 20 bucks, and a pillow. - The bath is absolutely horrendous. I've never seen a bath so stained. I bought flip flops to wear while showering. - Saw a cockroach in the clothes drawer, front desk was notified and said someone would come by and spray everything the next day. I will update as needed! My advice to bookers; Prepay your stay to avoid reservation issues, this place is packed Walmart is a 15min walk away, there you will find everything you need to make your stay more enjoyable (febreeze spray, bedding, etc) Don't expect 4 stars at a 2 star motel. Know what to expect so you're not disappointed! Don't come here for 1-2 nights. 3 nights+; worth getting supplies vs. regular priced hotels So to help make your stay worthwhile ; be ready to improvise! At the end of the day, it's a cheap place to sleep. My advice to management ; Please get rid of damaged or stained sheets. Keeping notes of maintenance needed in rooms as the customers mention it and following up No need for renos yet (except maybe that dark stained tub!), but cleanliness is always appreciated wherever we go. I bought cleaning supplies for my own preferences but I'm sure a thorough cleaning after each visit would help keep clean overall. Maybe do a round of each room 2-4 times a year with a checklist of things to verify such as battery in smoke détector, bathroom fan, sheets, stains, odours, bugs etc. This being said, I wish the owner and his team great success! It's not easy to manage a business like this one.

AC didn't work, toilet wouldn't flush, sink stopped up with beard clippings. Several doors I passed emitted overly strong marijuana odors. People in the room next to me found bedbugs in their room. Front desk staff were apologetic, but unable to resolve any of the issues, or offer an alternative room. Still awaiting a refund...

Rooms are old and needs major work. Bathroom door doesn't shut, shower curtain rod fell when I took towel off. Bath tub is stained and chipped, cracks in walls, towels stained, lamp cord was cut, holes in comforter. I will say I didn't see any bugs and it was clean enough. Does have fridge and microwave. Has TV but didn't work. Free wifi but I couldn't get it to load anything. I would not stay there again. Plenty of other places within same price $69.99 go elsewhere.

You can get a better room for the money. No frills rooms. Not even carpet. Old motel kept pretty well for the age of it. Exterior not bad. Bathtub was pretty discussting. If you're gonna party it's a good spot, at least you won't mess the carpet up, there is none.

This place is unprofessional! I booked a room here through hotels.com, which I have NEVER had a problem with when booking a room through the website except this particular time when I arrived to the hotel they said that I did not have a room reserved which in fact I did! Then the lady tried to tell me that because I didn’t pay online that my reservation automatically got bumped out the system because basically the same room I reserved was booked to whomever paid for the room first. Whaaat!!!! Never heard such a thing and I have booked and reserved plenty of rooms and guess what when I showed up from out of town I had a room! So after riding around for an hour looking for another room greatly I found one that was way more decent and cheaper this place is trash thank god for not letting me stay there everything happens for a reason! BUYER BEWARE: Don’t waste your money!

2 years ago I had drove to Louisville to visit and my car was giving me problems, we decided to stay a week for a reduced rate to wait for my paycheck and find someone to fix our vehicle. The room had garbage and candy wrappers in it at check i and the floor was dirty. Checked in around 3am and I was told I was paying for a week and at 11 am in the morning the same day they kicked me out and wouldn't let me pay for the week upfront which defeated the purpose of staying there for a reduced weekly rate that is advertised on the sign. I wasnt able to shower or put everything away and we were thrown out because they lied and charged me a single night. I was so upset and thrown off I had no time to look for the receipt but the lady the night before told me I was paying for an entire week up front. They were rude, disrespectful, the place was dirty and I felting extremely upset when they came in our room in the morning and kicked us out because if I was aware of this I could have showered or made arrangements the next day. I was so upset about this experience. Had I realized I was paying for one night only I would have stayed at Baymont again. I strongly discourage people from staying here. It was the worst experience I was so upset I was crying when I left.

My friend and I had a hotel reserved for over 3 months for the louder than life 2022. Travel 3 hours to get to this place and were told there were not rooms cleaned to come back after 7 which we did...only to be told they didn't have any rooms available for us. Thankfully a friend was in a better hotel and allowed us to sleep on the floor in their room, they only had a small bed in theor room. We were very grateful for this. Otherwise we would have had to sleep in a car...so do not get a room here, you may arrive to having nothing....and it was very sketchy, dirty and smelled horrible.

  • 3/5 Paul B. 1 year ago on Google
I'm giving this three stars just because it was affordable and kept me from sleeping in the park before. But there are cheap ways to control bed bugs and roaches. Some of it's the guest too. Just trying to be fair. Otherwise it use to be 900 a month and electric, water and cable was included. That was pre pandemic. I'd imagine it's around 12 or 13 hundred now. I also have to warn that the area is sketchy.

The room was nice and clean, and when it came to the bedding and towels everything was new. The staff is nice and professional. Mcdonalds is like 100 feet away and has a Thornton's next door. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. You can't beat the price neither.

This motel is in a dangerous neighborhood. However we stayed in a room with a jacuzzi tub that fits two. There is a McDonald's less than 100 feet away and many other convenient places near by. The room we stayed in was large and had a king bed, walk in shower, refrigerator with separate freezer on top and a safe in the room.

Disgusting place. Roaches and bed bugs. Came in and was literally greeted by the biggest roach I’ve ever seen. Please save yourself the trouble of rebooking and do not ever come here. This place should be tore down and condemned. Last at the front desk was amazing tho I love her and wish she didn’t have to work here.
