This place is so good!! They're not doing dine-in service right now but they have plenty of outdoor seating. And they've adapted their building to take orders from the window--pretty clever! The building's outside has always grabbed my eye and I'm so glad I finally stopped by. Service was fast and friendly, though they were also patient with me taking time to read the menu. The pumpkin spice latte was delicious. I also grabbed a cinamon roll for a quick breakfast. I was expecting the normal pastry, but it was actually laminated pastry and delightful. There are some electric car charging stations in their back parking lot. I'll definitely be back here soon.

Awesome drinks, environment is cool, staff was friendly, and prices seemed fair. They have nice places to sit and work, read, etc both inside and outside. Seems like one of the best coffee shops in Louisville to me, I'll definitely be back!

Great coffee! I had the Snow Melt coffee with oat milk it was delicious! Will definitely come back next visit to town! The walk-up window was convenient with having a group + dogs. They provided pup cups as well!

Pretty good. A little pricey but inflation is hitting everyone I guess. Would go back for sure.

To be clear, I gave the food a 5-star rating because it tasted very good. But the breakfast sandwich I had was very small for the price. The coffee was very good and worth the price though.

I’m a full time barista, and I’ve been to a lot of coffee shops. This one is otherworldly- I had one of the best lattes ever (although I think it’s seasonal :’( ) and the bathroom was very sensory friendly- which was important to me. The lights are low and you can go in without turning on the brighter light- the people are friendly, and I don’t at all feel intimidated by anyone or anything. 110% coming back next time I can.

First of all, this place has become my personal breakfast heaven. They serve excellent coffee and the best crepes in town until 3pm...as good as in Paris. I get the Swwet Kid Crepe with goat cheese, honey, cinnamon, and strawberries pretty often, while my Dad gets his spinach feta crepe. YES! Both Sweet & Savory Crepes!! I love this place and everyone should try it.

We ordered a small cappuccino and an espresso shot, we gat a medium cappuccino and a small espresso! We asked for medium roast coffee, our coffee was extremely bitter (dark roast or even extra dark roast), the coffee had a sour taste too! One of the employees making coffee was wearing a tang top very loose around the arms which is not hygienic in my opinion. We are disappointed with the quality and service!

Nice welcoming vibe to this coffee shop. Beverages were very good. We also tried a berry and coconut scone and a ginger cookie, both were very yummy.

Excellent coffee shop to grab a drink and some pastries. Thy chocolate croissant was particularly good. Coffee was also very tasty, among the better cups of joe I’ve had. The ginger cookie we ordered was also great, from a local pastry shop. Atmosphere was super nice to come read for a while or even do some work, staff were also nice. The only reason for deducting one star - the bathroom left a bit to be desired… fix that faucet, the oler dispenser, and the broken shelf in the middle of the wall… other than that, real nice!

I thought this place was gonna be really promising but the coffee was not good. I was excited cause they had pour over but the beans were burned and it tasted like a Starbucks coffee. Also, I was excited to come here because on google it says that they do crepes and they told me they haven’t done crepes for a while! I ordered a burrito instead and it was super small and not great. Would definitely not come back

I have to say that this was THE ABSOLUTE BEST crepe that I’ve eaten in my life. I pretty much inhaled it and I was just so happy. The ambiance and people that work there are just absolutely wonderful and the vibe is perfect. The prices are super good and they have many drink options and vegan desserts! Next time I’m in KY I will certainly visit! Thank you so much for the amazing experience!

The coffee shop experience is back with Safai. They have great coffee and wonderful lattes if you are into those. The space is larger that is seems from the outside. The environment fits about everyone. There are a few coves for more private enjoyment. They have plenty of table and chairs for working, studying or enjoy a chat with a friend. In the front more of the bar type seating when windows looking out on the cross streets. You always sit up front and be entertained by the people that pass by. Finally, when the weather is nice they have plenty of seating on the sidewalks. Base on the location you going to be able to find shady seating on one of the sidewalks. If you only stopping in for a cup of coffee, they only have pour overs. No drip coffee. Of course, the pour-over is worth the wait but if there is a line you can wait a bit. Stopped by early on a Saturday while I was out walking my dogs. I happened to see another person with their dogs at the walk-up window and stopped by! What a great thing! I had a hot latte and a scone. Both were awesome and I’ll be back!

I'm a teacher and went for the first time yesterday to meet up with another teacher to do some lesson planning. Kept it simple because I'd never been and ordered a cappuccino and a medium latte. Spent just under $10. Loved the atmosphere; it was a great place to sit and quietly work, journal, daydream, all while enjoying some really good coffee. We went later in the afternoon so there weren't really many of the baked goods left, but if they're as good as the coffee was, it would definitely be a treat. They had the place decorated for Fall/ Halloween. I think it world be great for them to do a Day of the Dead altar space. It would definitely fit the vibe. Recommended. Parking is parking in the Highlands. Can't do much about that.

This is a cozy little coffee nook where you'll find tasty, ethically sourced coffee & other goodies. We enjoy buying bags of their whole bean coffee to take home, although it is rather pricey, as well as grabbing an oat milk cappuccino to go. They have lots of dairy alternatives for the coffee and even vegan food options, as well, though I haven't eaten there to recommend the food.

I had the Bangkok Fog tea and it was amazing, like nothing I’ve ever had before. Lots of fun, unique seasonal menu options in addition to their regular menu. Cozy inside, nice staff. Seems like a great place to hang out or do some work.

Currently they are only serving walk up coffee at their window. I had the mega mocha which has three shots of espresso. It was good. My friend had the 24 karat gold latte and enjoyed it a lot. Can't speak to the interior. But the line moved quickly and the prices seem reasonable.

Delicious crepes and coffee. Just wish the portions were a little larger for the price you pay. Can't wait to come back and visit when the indoor dining is open.

First time here! Was hoping to go inside but only window service was available. The young man who took my order was very helpful and made my drink with less sugar. Very patient and friendly. I had the blueberry pancake latte. Very sweet!

Safai has been stomping grounds for me for much of my young adult life - I've had multiple meetings, study sessions, relaxing visits with my wife here, and even attended terrarium workshops. Safai has a great selection of coffee and make some wonderful crepes in the mornings.

I was super excited for crepes this morning, found this this place. Drove 30 minutes to get there. Walked in and was told with an attitude I needed to wear a mask till I sit down. I asked if I could sit and order the kid said no. They however offered a compliance face cover. I ended up leaving and the first watch’s down the street has exceptional service.

I really enjoyed it. I ordered a large chocolate covered marshmallow and it was on point. I recommend it to anyone looking for a new coffee spot or are in the area. It was a different flavor from the mainstream, and I like to support local businesses. Loved it. Go try it for yourself, I plan on going back for sure

  • 5/5 Troy W. 2 years ago on Google
Trifecta! I always, as I'm sure most do, rate based on food, staff, and dining area; and Safai could not have scored any better on all three. I'm a savory-breakfast food addict and the flavors folded into their crepes take me to a happy place (and not that I need to be taken anywhere because the dining area puts off some groovy vacation vibes). My experience was topped off with uber-friendly service (both when ordering and later when exiting). Just a solid experience!

  • 5/5 Kaitlyn V. 2 years ago on Google
Absolutely amazing! Fast and friendly service! Their crepes were devine! The coffee was great, with many different flavor options available! It was a lovely location as well! In walking distance to many little shops and other restaurants! I would definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Ordered the iced cherry blossom. It was divine. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting with smells of breakfast being cooked that makes you want to lie to yourself about already having breakfast.

  • 5/5 Abby B. 1 year ago on Google
Let me just say Safai is a great coffee shop, service is good, bla bla bla. Please I must know what happened to the crepes? All I’m saying is Safai had crepes and that made them different from other coffee shops- I come here now and breakfast burritos?? The same as what everyone else is doing?? Crepes made Safai stand out in my mind and every time I was here they served crepes non stop. I inquired about the crepes and did not receive a clear answer about what happened. The people miss the crepes. Please consider crepe revival.

AHHHHMAZING! The Frozen Chai is out of this world! Got it with almond milk and still tastes so much like Chai! I drink Chai every where I go and it's the best I've ever had hands down! We ordered from the pickup window my boyfriend got a Frozen latte and finished it in like 30 sec! Couldn't stop drinking!! Such a nice coffee shop! Even handed out dog treats for the dogs!

A coffee and drink environment that is so positive with energy. It is a great asset to the neighborhood and acts as part of the neighborhood. Coffee prepared to give you the best taste with all the variations you want. They have a good basic selection of teas and also have smoothies and hot chocolate on the menu. Would have 5 stars with a larger selection of teas. If you need a bite to go with your drink I enjoy one of their crepes which can be from dessert type to lunch filled.

The food was pretty good, it didn't feel super fresh. The pumpkin latte had absolutely no pumpkin taste to it. I would've never known it was a special flavor. Very limited seating and pretty pricey

  • 4/5 L B. 1 year ago on Google
An okay coffee shop, nothing special, nothing that bad. Glad they do pour overs. I’ve had both pleasant and annoying experiences here. The unfortunate truth most people won’t admit is that the quality of your drink highly depends on the specific barista making it. Get someone who cares about their job having a good day, you’ll have a quality experience. Get someone who hates being there and feels annoyed by you, your drink is likely gonna suck. That’s just how coffee shops go. If you want to blame anyone blame the managers who create the work environment. If you constantly have a bad experience with every employee, stop to consider if you’re the common denominator.

Great coffee and scones. Woman at the walk up window was not friendly and seemed angry. Order was quick. But good products for sure and we like that you can walk up.

Solid place to get some work done. I didn’t get coffee but I did get a classic “bowl”. If you come here, don’t do what I did. The portion size was incredible small for $8. This couldn’t feed a 5 year old.

Safai has been my absolute favorite coffee shop in Louisville for over half a decade! I go at least every week, if not more often. The espresso & coffee are delicious. The team that’s works there is awesome! There are plenty of places to sit both inside & outside. There’s parking around the back & off the alley & on the street. And it’s one of the only places in town that makes a proper cortado! Highly recommend!

There was no obnoxious female that made comments about what foods that over weight person did not prefer to eat on the menu, and that in an unprofessional manner in front of one or more customers who frequent competitors of that company on a more regular basis and first attempted those locations prior to giving that place "another shot"; and an unsecured public sign unreported for repair yet fixed with a tie to secure an overhang for that private business' use and/or benefit..."?"

Love a good pour over. Very cozy shop, friendly folks. Love bar seating that faces out the window. Pretty much what I look for in a coffee shop, after quality of coffee of course. Very beautiful place to spend this cold, rainy day. I highly recommend if you are looking for a well made, organic cup of coffee and a quiet place to sit and work.

Great coffee shop in a beautiful neighborhood. I’d give 5 stars except the young lady working there was surprisingly rude to me for no reason. I’ll still go back because stuff happens and the coffee is great but it was a little bit off-putting.

Had a rich, dark roast pour over..perfect flavorful cup to start the day with. Crepes are perfect balance of chew and crisp. Mexican Sunrise crepe was loaded with veggies and bacon. Will make this a regular spot in LOU

Pandemic coffee... Don't love the outdoor window only. Limited outdoor seating. Hard to read menu, but decent coffee and crepes. Definitely would be better just to order indoors. Pour over light roast was just ok.

I was treated so rudely today. My family and I were getting a few drinks to celebrate a birthday. Everyone waited outside except my daughter and her friend. After we stepped outside, some other people went in. They have a limit of 6, but it is not posted clearly. I stepped inside briefly to tell my daughter we were going across the street. The young man on the other side of the partition told me to “get out”. I was unaware of the capacity limit, but I told him I was just telling my daughter something. He said “I don’t care.” It wasn’t until I stepped outside that I saw the capacity limit (written low on the chalk board, not on the door). I understand capacity, but this young man was extremely rude and offensive. He could have communicated with dignity and respect I will never go to Safai again. Wow. I have been a great customer for years, but not any more.
