If you're into the giant, corporate monsters that have global representation, this place is not for you. If you want to go in to a coffee shop and order some syrupy slushie frozen sugar monstrosity parading as an 'iced coffee' or 'frozen coffee beverage' in a environmentally unfriendly take-away foam, plastic, or paper, please don't come here. If you want all your information from social media and have no interest in classic novels, new ideas or open-minded thinking - Please. Don't. Come. Here. Because this place is all the things that the educated counter-culture loves. Between classic literature and modern ideas, it is the sort of place insta-people hate or decide they love because they literally don't know why, but everybody else around them seems to love it. I've been driving past this place late coming home from work and finally decided to stop here today. It's a local business, owned and operated by one guy on the west side of town with no foot traffic, however, it is on its fifth year in business. The owner is doing something right. There is art by local artists on display for sale, which rotates frequently, but any art behind the counter is not for sale. They were gifts from artists and friends, and they're amazing. There are two bathrooms labeled with paintings of toilets painted directly on the door because anyone that needs to use a bathroom can use a bathroom. The coffee, books, and vinyls are all reasonably priced, even a bargain. The used books are well kept or well loved and the new books are things to make a person think. There are tables and more comfortable offerings for seating. There is ample room to get together with friends and hang out, maybe even bring chess or othello. This business is the forefront of a building that is hosted by a property management place, but it is a warm, welcoming enviroment. Peaceful. Friendly. If you have some time to relax, this is a nice place to be. Grab a coffee, settle in with a book, and find a friend you haven't met yet. BUY LOCAL.

AMAZING, five stars, huge fan. The Cortadito Gordito is the most delicious coffee drink I’ve had in a long time. Lovely wonderful spot!

Great coffee shop to hang out for an hour or so. Wife and I usually go on a weekday early afternoon. Love those jumbo cookies, should have gotten a pic but dived in too fast and ate it.

This is a very cozy and unexplored place in Portland , Louisville KY. The owner is extremely friendly. Tgeir coffees and other product are better than some of the major brands. It's a must visit cafe for all age groups esp for jazz music lovers and book readers. PS - I highly recommend this place

Cozy as heck. Definitely a great place to get some reading done and not be distracted by the usual café things. It’s also in a super unique location. Coffee is aight.

This place is awesome! The coffee is is 3rd wave delicious and Mickey knows exactly how to make a capuccino, latte, or just about anything. The breakfast sandwiches are great, too! And, there's a ton of teas to choose from, too. So, as far as product, it's amazing. THEN, there's also the space as a work space. This is an incredible office away from the office. The internet is super fast (217 MB/s) and VERY reliable. I've never had any issues. There's plenty of seating and the layout has various rooms which makes it feel like a cozy creative space and NOT like a warehouse. He has local artists up on the walls, it's a crossroads for musicians and artists, and there's a great vibe from the moment you walk in the door. This is the perfect shop! I really love it here and spend 2-3 days here a week doing office work. Reliable and delicious.

One of the best coffee shops I’ve been too!! My taste is sweet over bitter coffee, when I came in and asked if there was any choices that were more on the “sweet side than bitter”, he was so helpful to list off options (bc I’ve never been there before) to help me decide what I’d like. The coffee was perfect, I absolutely loved the shop as well. He is very generous, has many book selections, and the coffee is amazing. Totally recommend, and will be coming back! 😁

This is one of my favorite coffee shops to stop by. They have so many delicious items, I haven't tried anything I didn't like. The atmosphere is so welcoming and Mickey is top notch at providing friendly, loving service to everyone. 10/10 everytime.

Comfortable and tasty. The multiple, interconnected rooms of this bookstore feel cozy yet not stuffy. The coffee (& tea & other drinks & snacks) shop makes an excellent cortado. And the man behind the counter spoke well and kindly with my little kid about the shop's small fish tank.

Visited for the first time yesterday! I will definitely be going back! The coffee is good, the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. There is a broad selection of books to choose from and there is a new area in the back for listening to records. Street parking, drip coffee, coffee made in a v60, tea, bakery items and more available. It’s in Portland which is cool, which means it’s not a place I would pass and stop in for a while. I pretty much have to plan on a visit or I won’t already be near it. If you have never been you should check it out.
