As part of my five days in Kentucky, part of my goal was to try some famous local foods. Hi on all the lists was the derby pie. However, I saw many places recommend that you go for a knock off rather than getting a frozen original. One of the best places recommend it was this place for its pecan chocolate chip pie. I believe that was the name, it might have been slightly different. If you go in and ask for the derby pie knock off they will certainly know which one you’re talking about. This was by far one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. Imagine a warm chocolate chip cookie inserted inside of a super fresh pecan pie. A couple scoops of vanilla ice cream on the side and you have yourself one heavenly dessert. This thing was absolutely amazing and I cannot say better things about this dessert. A must try while you are in Kentucky!

Order traditional banana split (vanilla, chocolate & strawberry ice cream). The server looked puzzled and said she had to check if the had bananas. That's fine. What I got was the worse made Banana Split ever. 3 scoops of delicious ice cream, 1 topping Strawberry, Not the traditional 3 toppings. Banana was cut up and put on top. Very little whipped cream (approx 3-4 tablespoons total and 4 cherries

Love love love this place!! Quaint little place with homemade pies, ice cream, cookies and cakes and even coffee. Very friendly staff as well! Their chocolate chip and praline ice creams are very yummy!! The chocolate chip cookies are pretty good too. I took home a piece of the mixed berry pie, wish I had taken home the whole pie!! Talk about delicious!! Will definitely visit again when in the area!

While visiting Louisville recently I decided to have some dessert delivered to my room. Being unable to choose just one thing, I decided to try several, which I finished off over the course of my four day stay. First, the Banana 4 Layer was fantastic. I rarely even try restaurant banana pudding, but decided to give this a shot. It was very good. I'd love some more right now, actually. Also, the serving was huge. The Chocolate Chess Old Fashioned Shelf Stable Pie was also very good. Unfortunately the Pecan Chocolate Chip Old Fashioned Shelf Stable Pie wasn't quite as good. This is primarily just personal preference, though, so I don't count it against them. it had more filling than I prefer. I like for the chocolate to mix with the filling more. Last, I had a chocolate cupcake, and was disappointed with it. It's possible the issue was freshness. The cake was a bit dry, and the frosting had a bit of a crust to it. Definitely my least favorite of the items I tried. I'll be ordering again in the future.

It’s always a pleasure tasting some fresh pie. So many places just order pies in from a factory but I’m almost certain these are made by hand in small batches. If that’s not the case then you could’ve fooled me. The crust was immaculate and the filling tasted bright and not overly sweet. We got the seasonal peach pie and couldn’t have been more impressed. I got a scoop of crème brûlée ice cream which was a mistake because it didn’t taste anything like crème brûlée and plain vanilla ice cream would’ve better accompanied the pie. My girlfriend got the mocha chip and she loved it. The only thing we didn’t like about this place was the incessant sounds of dancing from the studio overhead. I don’t know how the workers can tolerate hearing hours of that every day. More power to them. Overall would recommend.

I suggest you get there right now!! Oh my Lord this caramel dutch apple pie was the best thing I've ever eat! I lucked out and it was on a $2 slice oops shelf. The only oops for me was it was the only piece. The Buckeye's were amazing and my son's ice cream cone was considered one scoop but wow that was a HUGE scoop!! Check then out if you're in the area

Yum-Yum the best pies place in Louisville. When we travel south we make A-must stop and pick up pies on the way down south and back to Michigan! Very Tasty 😋 🥧

SO MANY OPTIONS! you will definitely find a sweet dessert that you like to purchase there. I bought a Pecan chocolate chip pie, a slice of the key lime merengue pie, a sugar and chocolate chip cookies. Everything was delicious. I definitely recommend and I'll definitely be back.

The name is long and not that catchy. Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen. The floors are scuffed but the booth seats still shine, And the wrought iron chairs are surely the originals. Not many places these days have bells that tingle when you come in the door Its a place you want to walk into with both your grandpa and your daughter. The marvel of ice cream is certainly timeless And as old as the building was, the tables were clean and the pies were fresh. I just have to say, they don't have places like this in Scottsdale. You can take the girl out of Kentucky, but there will always be some Kentucky in this girl. I hope I never am too far removed from brick building and hand-written signs and fresh-baked pie and jukeboxes. And I really, really hope this place stays in business when I have grandkids of my own.

I absolutely love this place, I come from Cincinnati often and is a most stop, pies are delicious my favorite is chocolate chess pie. Kids love the ice cream and it has become a tradition for all birthdays to drive down here and grab a cake already made to celebrate. Wish I had one closer.

Always a great place to get cold treats and/or warm dessert. I've enjoyed visiting here when I was younger, and now my kids love it when we visit.

A truly epic selection of desserts with friendly staff that will help you find just the right thing if you're not sure where to start. I won't soon forget the slice of pie I had here. There's a modest amount of seating, so you may be able to eat your treats on site instead of taking them to go. If your sweet tooth is tingling, stop by.

I've shopped at this location for over 10 years. They have a variety of items but when they got rid of the boars head deli I didn't see any reason to return. I enjoyed grabbing a sandwich and eating sweet treats. I had a bad experience ordering my baby shower cake. It was in the shape of a ladybug. It was so cute but extremely dry! My mom LOVED this place and she lives out of state. Anytime she was in town she would stop by and grab some treats before leaving. Recently she received a coupon for a treat for her birthday. She went in to redeem her coupon just a few days shy of her birthday (because she was in town) and they denied her coupon stating that she must come in on her birthday only. She explained that she is from out of town and will not be in town for her birthday. The manager didn't care and still denied her coupon. My mom is a good one because she STILL ordered a bunch of items, even a key lime pie that she said was DISGUSTING. Thank you for denying her because now we have a reason to leave a review!

Amazing. I had the Dutch apple pie, warm, with a scoop of creme brulee ice cream and a freshly brewed black coffee, and it was heavenly. I'd been thinking about Dutch apple pie for two weeks, because it's apple season, and everybody makes lattice pies. My wife had the chocolate cherry pie, and found it maybe a little overwhelming, so rich she had trouble finishing it. She should have gotten a coffee with it. Popular place, and I can taste why. Worth going up to Louisville all by itself.

What a find for a sweet tooth. Driving in Louisville Highland district, found this little shop, easy to miss from the busy road. Nice selections of pies and cakes. Even little Ohio buckeyes. Variety of ice cream. Delicious, sweet and an old time atmosphere with window stools and even an antique Wurlitzer!!!

One of my favorite places to stop for pie in Louisville! They make a delicious strawberry rhubarb pie and I would definitely recommend it. Also, they have a good selection of ice cream and it's all very tasty. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. They also have a nice area outside you can sit. Overall, it's a great place and I would definitely stop by for a visit and bite to eat!

My kids and I went to get ice cream for them while I was dying to try my first piece of derby pie. I ended up leaving with the last full derby pie, a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream, a banana split, and a slice of chocolate meringue pie. My son loved the blue ice cream and my daughter is a basic chocolate kinda child. No one complained except for me because I ate too much. 😅

Revised down to 1 star. Two thanksgiving's in a row with an inedible very undercooked pie. If you like your pastry with a soggy bottom and no colour, then I guess this is for you.

You need to get a better way to keep orders for pies for the holidays. We paid for 2 pies in advance last Friday to be picked up today and they said they only had one written down which I watched the girl write both down on the paper myself last Friday. We had to buy the second pie again. Another 27 dollars. I'm sure we aren't the only ones this has happened to. Having a notebook with scribble on it is not a very professional way to handle big holiday orders. Our order was messed up last year because they wrote our name down wrong.
