I really don’t like to leave crummy reviews. But I feel compelled. Keeping in mind I was really hungry, and I’ve had wonderful things at your restaurant before. At any rate I ordered through GrubHub for delivery a meatloaf sandwich and onion rings the onion rings are so incredibly overly fried that the coating on them is actually scratching my gums (overly fried) hard to chew. The meatloaf is so incredibly dry and a small slice that didn’t even cover the bread it was made on. As for the bread- it seems to be either stale or long since grilled and re-warmed in the microwave? I know it was the end of your evening , I get that. However.. -There’s a great Jewish deli where I grew up, the next time I place an order for bread, I plan on gifting Shady Lane a loaf of authentic rye bread. Amazing what a difference it makes. Use it for your Reuben Good jewish rye.

It's been 10 years since I ate here last, only because I didn't live or work nearby. I always remembered it being really tasty, though. I work in the area right now so I took advantage of an opportunity to treat myself at lunch on my way to a meeting yesterday. I was not disappointed! I ordered the same thing I did a decade ago, the Classic BLT, and it was even better this time. Now I wish I had ordered fries with it. The service was friendly and fast. I feel the prices are very reasonable, too. I will definitely be back.

This is the best place you can go to for lunch or dinner. If I could give this 6/5 stars I would. Me and my friend love this place, the workers are super nice and the food is to die for. Go here and get the Brownsboro burger!!! IT'S WORTH IT!

Awesome burger place. Big menu and good prices. Great food for the money. Went to go again a few days later and the wait was really long.

This is a down-home cafe with excellent food. There is no frills atmosphere with very crowded seating, but that is part of the charm. This place is loved by the locals.....as it should be!!!!

Never been inside BUT have had friends pick up to-go orders before. The first time I tacked on an order I got a BLT and it was so insanely good that I have ordered it every time since. IDK what bacon they use but it is heavenly. So crispy, salty, and thick. This is probably the best BLT I've ever had. I want it all the time LOL. I've seen their other sandwiches that friends have ordered and they also look delectable. I'd recommend to anyone in the area.

I work nearby and frequent Shady Lane or we have it ordered in for meetings. I've probably had 10-12 different menu items and they were all excellent, minus the salmon sandwich which was just average. But truly, everything else is great. Their sandwiches, salads and soups -- I commend every one of them. Carol and her team are quick, kind and friendly. It's a great little atmosphere for a lunch with a friend or even a casual business lunch. I love this little lunch spot and hope you'll give it a try!

The Shady Lane is a delicious little Mom-and-Pop cafe, offering soups, sandwiches, and burgers. My favorites of their soups are Cream of Mushroom (so delicious!), White Bean with Italian Sausage, and Clam Chowder -different soups available on different days. Or try a tender burger, cooked to order. My fav is a medium-rare Burger with Blue Cheese, with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. So good. There are also various side dishes and rich, homemade baked goods. Shady Lane is open for lunch most days but only open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays- check hours before you go.

On our way back from Louisville to Northern Kentucky displace was recommended to my friend and me. It did not disappoint! I had a quesadilla. It was excellent, and my friend had a cheeseburger. That was also very tasty. We would definitely visit here again if we were in the area.

My husband and I stopped there to get a sandwich. I ordered a BLT and my husband ordered the Cuban. The bacon was thick and tough like jerky. My husband said the Cuban sandwich wasn't good. We switched sandwiches. He was right, it tasted funny. Don't know if it was the mustard they put on it or what. I took off the top layer of meet and on. He was hungry and it took a while but he got that bacon chewed up. The coffee was good. That was the first time there and I think the last time.

Sweet potato fries were just okay but those chips were the bomb. Wish I had gotten those instead. Brownsboro burger was amazing.

The Shady Lane Veggie Growing up, I didn't have the opportunity to eat out often (unless grandma(s) was paying or a weekend club soccer tournament). Because of that, I was stuck at home consuming inedible Boca and Morning Star soy proteins - wondering if being plant based would ever become easier - little did I know!?!? All those soy proteins later then left me with a 27 year struggle of gut/organ health and autoimmune discomfort. Now that... is another story . I gladly took the opportunity to visit new ownership at SLC. The veg is still chock full of veggies. Brava - same Shady! Shout-out to Rach and her family who owned and ran SLC for all those years! Shady always believed in making their menu accessible for all dietary needs... not just when it became trendy. There really is something to say about the Louisville restaurants that began offering veg options - some 30 to 40 + years ago. Don't get me wrong, bring on a funky new restaurant (as long as it has soul). But the classic Lou staples offering veg options will always have my heart

Shady Lane is the BEST cafe in Louisville. Great food, great staff and wonderful decor. I highly recommend the tuna melt. If your looking for a great place for lunch, this is it!!

I only leave reviews when I really feel like a place deserves it. I ordered shady lane on GrubHub and it was my first time. I made the decision to order after reading the reviews. Not only is the food phenomenal the owner who responds to the reviews is everything I love to see in a small business owner. After seeing them take up for their employees that were described as “rude” because they were not as fluent in English as someone would have liked them to be.. I knew this was the place for me. They did not let me down. If you’re thinking about going there or ordering it.. DO IT!!! OH and get the potato salad for sure because it’s amazing. Thanks for the yummy food!!

One of my favorite restaurants. They added the option for gluten free bread and gluten free buns and we can't get enough. Staff is always friendly. The food is always on time and delicious!!! They are also very knowledgeable about other dietary restrictions.

Small Cafe with great food with excellent service. Order at the counter and the food is brought to you. Inside and outside seating. Highly recommended for a quick lunch.

Management is good. However, the cooks are incredibly lazy and do not provide good service whatsoever. They are rude and unwelcoming. Wouldn’t even say hello after I had already acknowledged them when I walked in. At least say hello, I should have walked out as soon as I entered for the sole reason of the lack of generosity.

Delicious, locally owned cafe that’s been in business since 2005. It’s a local institution and a neighborhood favorite. The kind of place where the regulars are greeted by name.

We were here from out of town and happened across this place when we were looking for something besides fast food for lunch. Service was friendly and efficient and food was great! Would highly recommend a visit.

👍👍 Dinner at Noosh Nosh was wonderful! Service was on point even though it was busy. They do not take reservations so we got there early, 5:30, on a Saturday. A line was out the door by 6pm. We started with a goat cheese marinara dip and brie with bourbon maple. Both came with crostini toast points. W...
