I’ve been going here for breakfast at least once or twice a month the past couple years. This past visit I got two sausage biscuits which were great. They have amazing bagel sandwiches. The bacon egg and cheese bagel on an everything bagel is the bomb. Great coffee! Check this place out!

The absolute best bagels and cream cheese I’ve ever had. There’s a wide variety of bagels to choose from with what feels like an unlimited amount of options on what to put on said bagels. My favorite things here are: everything bagel with herb cream cheese, spicy turkey and cheese on a pumpernickel bagel, egg bacon and cheese on a variety of bagels, pimento cheese and a fried egg on a variety of bagels, and the banana bar. You can’t go wrong with this place! Nancy’s bagels used to be sold at Quills years ago and is the reason I love bagels. This place is the same as Nancy’s.

Tasty bagels with many options, I got an herb tomato bagel with veggies. This visit I was happy to see that they had a vegan cream cheese option. I also added an iced chai to my order with oat milk, delicious!

Delightful bakery with very good bagels and scones. We stopped in for breakfast last week. Bagels were excellent. I adore a good pumpernickel and these lived up to my hopes! I picked up scones for the following morning as we needed an early meal and they held up nicely. Would definitely return here next time I am in town visiting family! Services was quick and young man at counter very friendly and pleasant.

They were quick and friendly. It was a tight situation because of all the people but the bagels and coffee were good, would recommend.

Today was the first I tried them out. I did their super easy text-to-order. They’re pretty quick (probably because it’s not a weekend). I forgot to ask for it toasted, it was totally my fault so didn’t want to have them make another one since again, that was my fault. They were the sweetest and still accommodated my request and had such amazing customer service. Not to mention, WOW THE SANDWICH IS SO GOOD and massive!! I think this is going to be a new regular stop for me! Thank you, Payne St Bake House!!

I mean I love it, great cafe but its not like real deal bagels. like you are not getting a new york style bagel here. they are small and dont always have a hole. I love the pumpernickel one the most.

Delicious bagels. I had the Sesame Bagels with Honey Walnut Cream Cheese. The Soy Milk Mocha is a gem. Contactless service. The process to order and get the bagels is simple and you get the replied to your text quickly. Highly recommended and would definitely be back.

I met a friend here for brunch and it was delicious! We did go on the weekend so it was slammed & I would recommend ensuring you have plenty of time to enjoy/wait, but we were in no rush. The spinach club wrap was delicious and their bagels are pretty top notch!😉 *Loved the outdoor sitting area!

Great food. Fresh bagels are terrific! The service is exceptional and you're going to enjoy the drink menu. Not much seating but the outside seating is enjoyable.

Nice little shop. Bagels were fabulous, toasted crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside ❤️. The employees lacked personality in their customer service but with 6 people in front of us, our order came accurately and quickly. Ambiance was clean and quaint. Small, not many tables. Overall, I would be back👍

I love this place and it's got the best cinnamon rolls in the entire city. However, every single time I bring home a cinnamon roll in one of the boxes they give for take out my cinnamon roll always ends up losing the entire top part of icing. I wish they would modify the take home containers.

Great little bagel/bakery. Nice variety of bagels still left at 11:30am, most are have just basics left by that time. Had the Lox sandwich, on tomato&herb bagel...very good. Hubby had a sliced beef wrap, which he enjoyed, said it had a good amount of meat. We both had the lg hot chia tea. And brought home a half dozen of the day old everything bagels. Total for 2 sammies, 2 lg drinks, and take home 6 bagels....just over $40. A pretty good deal.

Fabulous breakfast sandwich. (I got the Hamlet, no mustard, on an everything bagel.) Coffee is also really good. Great customer service. Special shout-out to Madison today! This was my first time, but I’ll be back.

Have passed this many times and finally stopped in. I love that they have so many options for food. I ended up with chorizo tacos and an oatmeal creme pie both delicious. I spent about $18 after tip and did not get coffee. Loved their playlist. The wifi kept going in and out, so maybe not the best place for computer work. More for friend meet ups and chats

Hands down the best bake house in Louisville!! Love their food, coffee, atmosphere. Staff are always friendly and helpful. The owner is incredible, very quick to answer questions and jump in when needed. You can tell they really take pride in their work. I got my mom a bagel and coffee for her birthday breakfast and she said it was the best bagel she’s ever had (and she’s from NY!). Will definitely be going back 😊

I got the "Hammer" breakfast sandwich with a fried egg on an everything bagel. It had jalapeño cream cheese and was absolutely delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and the water is infused with fruit! Can't wait to try more items on the menu.

I got the salmon fillet lox sandwich in the tomatoes and herb bagel..it was amazing. Do yummy. My husband had the roast beef on the same kind of bagel and it was so good.

Cute place! Bagels are drool worthy. The veggie cream cheese is delicious! I will say if you do not like lots of cream cheese on your bagel- let them know because they are extremely generous with the serving. I also had a hot mocha and they do it right! Great place.

Their bagels are obviously fantastic, but their pastries are also top notch! I always get a homemade pop tart. You can’t go wrong with anything here.

The people are most pleasant, the bagels are often warm, and the baked goods are tasty. Great for takeout. Sliced with honey walnut cream cheese is a win at my household. They usually have something like a dozen different flavors of bagel.

Despite a rough few years with spotty quality during covid. Payne St. Bake House has really rebounded. If you grew up with Nancy’s this place still hits the spot. If you’re new in town or just visiting, stop by for bagels, you really won’t regret it. My only remaining gripe is the curbside ordering system slows down the checkout experience and takes up valuable parking. I know it’s not easy with a small staff but it can make for an awkwardly long wait.

The place has to come up with a better way to keep track of what bagels they have and dont have. When i ordered, they told me they were out of 4 flavors. I ordered garlic which they had. 25 minutes later after them telling customer after customer that they were now out if the flavor they ordered.. i got the same speach, and only had 3 options to choose from. Why even choose a flavor, if its going to be out when they start making your order. The inside is HOT. Like sweltering. No apologies. Just a ton of unorganized mess.

What a treat! This bakery, hands down has the best bagels in the city. The homemade veggie cream cheese, get a big schemer! Garlic Bagels are my favorite and this place has them!! I can’t wait to try something sweet!

Friendly service and good food and drinks. Really enjoyed the breakfast taco, it was full of flavor and affordable. My wife also enjoyed her mocha latte.

The food was good but the customer service was severely lacking. The general feel was you were bothering them. Food wasn’t so great that I’d put up with the lack of quality service again.

Amazing breakfast bagels (I highly recommend the Rooney!) & great coffee!

Best bagels in Louisville. Legit boil and bake. Get the herb cream cheese and thank me later. My only complaint is they won't toast it for you but you can do it yourself. But they are usually still warm from the oven!

Hard to write this. Son & I have been loyal Nancy's/Payne Street patrons for over 15 years. But its not what it used to be. Quality is still great, but the service is consistently awful. Takes so long to get food (whether your order ahead or not) and orders are consistently wrong. Forgetting the coffee part of order, out of plain bagels and just substitute for whole grain without telling us (twice!). Plenty of staff but it doesn't show in efficiency at all. Its cramped now w/ little seating & the configuration is weird. I won't go anymore. And that makes me really sad. Hope things change, but we will find a place (with bagels that aren't as good...for sure) that is closer to home.

Their pastries are the bees knees. Lovely little shop and very friendly people! I highly recommend the scones! One of my complaints is that they don't make hardly any of their pastry pricing available so you have to ask about any item you would like to purchase.
