My brother was air cared to this hospital. He is autistic and unable to answer any questions about his medical condition or medical history. When we arrived at the hospital they could not find him nearly an hour after we were told the helicopter had taken off. When we asked about his location the two people working were RUDE and the nurse at check in started yelling at my father when I tried to explain why my father was anxious in regards to my brothers condition and being special needs we were yelled at and told to sit down and let them do their jobs. I had to call the EMS company who responded to the call to get answers because the hospital staff were not helpful at all! This is disgusting and absolutely ridiculous. They should be ashamed of themselves

Came in had horrible chest pain. Rather than show concern they wanted to wand me for "security". Clearly in horrible pain the black receptionist told me to lose my attitude. My attitude being wanting prompt treatment. When i went back they told me I'd have to be in the hall the entire night. It's like a third world in there. If have gotten better care from a school nurse.

My father has been a patient of this hospital. For the last three weeks first ICU and regular care. The nurses and the doctors are absolutely top notch and so good at explaining everything to us I had the opportunity to stay several days at the hospital with my dad. And they were also very attentive with me asking if I needed anything like a pillow or blanket or anything else.. The facility is very clean And beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone.. I live in California and I sure wish we had a hospital as nice as this near me.Thank you so much for taking such amazing care of my father!!!!!!❤️

The nurses and Internal Med was wonderful. Thank you Dr Kaye. Don't go there for ortho issues. Never saw the doctor only residents and NP. Asked multiple times to speak to Dr Wright, he would never come to meet with family of patient. Never saw him at follow up appt. We were very unhappy with the ortho care received.

I was informed my mother had stopped breathing and I am 4 hours away from this hospital. So naturally I have to call the ICU where she currently is to figure out what’s going on with her. They didn’t pick up the phone, had to call back again and they act like it’s such an annoying bother for a family member to want to check on their sick relative. Get your priorities straight or don’t work in healthcare. I’m absolutely disgusted with how you treat people. FYI it’s the 10th floor, tower 2 nurse station. Rude as hell, pray you never have a family member here because they’ll be annoyed you want to check on them.

Worst experience ever. Only hospital I've ever had a complaint with. So many bad things happened during my stay (and rude staff) that it would take paragraphs. Almost died giving birth, then stayed 7 days in hospital. Treatment was awful. One nurse accused me of being a bad mom and asked how I was going to take care of my newborn when I get home bc I was sleeping so much. It was bizarre. I almost just died. Y'all would not let me see my baby the first couple days when I begged. Y'all gave me medication that kept me sleepy and woke me up every 2 hours for vitals. And ask me why I'm sleeping so much. Problem was fixed when I got home. And to the judgemental nurse, I'm taking care of my baby just fine. Also was forced to stay the night 2 nights when picking my baby up from NICU months later. They lied to me and told me it was voluntary and it was to help me learn to breastfeed. Nurse was rude, so I decided to leave. Social worker told me I was not allowed to take the baby home and had to stay 2 nights to prove I could take care of baby. It turned out that the reason they forced me to stay was because they believed I was not visiting my son in NICU the 3 months he was there. I pulled out my phone calendar and showed it to the social worker. Told her I visited almost everyday and showed her the highlighted days on calendar. She asked me if I was going at night. I said yes. She told me they don't record visits at night. I ended up staying 2 nights for nothing..and the nurse never would get me a toothbrush or toothpaste after asking 20 times. I didn't have a toothbrush because when I was called telling me to pick up my son from NICU, they didn't let me know I would be forced to stay 2 nights. They should have told me so that I'd be prepared.

This hospital is a joke, they will schedule you an appointment for 3 months out only to cancel on you 3 days before because the doctor decides to go on vacation and make you wait another 7 months. If you want a medical clown show where they don’t care this seems like they place to go just don’t schedule an appointment with them and expect them to keep it. They’ll charge you to cancel but if they cancel on you oh well. Any other hospital would be a better choice.

Stay away. The music therapists are racists and show no compassion. Be careful or they will verbally assault you and make fun of your disability with others. Horrible people.

Absolutely terrible experience! I am epileptic and was in for standard surgery and prior to surgery made sure to have all medical staff aware that my medicine needed to be ordered from pharmacy or I’d have a seizure. They did not do this and that’s exactly what happened. I consider this malpractice and so I refuted the bill to which they decided was not malpractice even though I’ve lost all independence, not being able to drive, having to move back in with my parents and much much more! I will NEVER been seen at UK again as this was not the first time this had happened and I am now responsible for the bill which I cannot afford! DO NOT go to UK!

Not much to say! I had a seizure during a cat scan at another hospitals emergency room. I have several compound fractures and a broken hip as a result. I was air lifted to UK medical center where thay put me back together and found the cancer I now have to fight and beat. I had friendly caring nurses and a team of Dr.s that kept me abreast of my recovery from the immediate surgery. I was discharged after 3 weeks.

No respect for anyone. Leave one UK to go to another UK dismissed and be admitted to another for dehydration. Nothing to clean yourself with Nothing to drink. Doctors don't know how to take care of you.

Absolutely horrible experience with the billing and back office processes. Beware, if you see a doctor, you will also receive a hospital charge. For a single doctor's visit the total charge was $740. I disputed the hospital charge of $253 and told it was owed because this charge was communicated during registration. It was not. Unpaid charges are sent to internal collections and they are horrible. I contacted them on 9/28 and did not receive a call back until 11/2. When I was called, I was told the charges were accurate and owed. When you call, hold times are typically 15 - 30 minutes. I paid a disputed charge and it shows in My Chart as being owed. The Doctors were great though, can not afford to go back both for financial and mental reasons.

I had my 2nd son in 2021 and the birth was absolutely terrible, I don’t know how I didn’t end up paralyzed and that’s just the tip of it, 2 weeks later I had pain in uterus and they found clots and more issues that they barley treated and a few days later I got the same pain and went back when I was dismissed with muscle pain then had to go back 2 days later because pain got worse, they made me sit in a bed for hours then eventually just sent me home (I was stating I had clots and they needed to look) I was ignored. That happened another 2 times until I woke up with my leg on fire and swollen one day and had to go to er where I was almost dismissed again but they finally decided to check and was immediately admitted with no word until a nurse comes in to tell me I was lucky I came back and lucky to be alive bc I had clots from my hip to my toes in left leg (some of the worst they’ve seen) I’m literally known for it now and was asked to be used as a medical teaching thing because they didn’t present as normal clots at first (truthfully they just ignored me) I went home a week later and could not walk for 2 months and to this day still struggle and was taken off my blood thinners when my clots got just small enough for blood to go through. They also found a clot in my lung and more. If I could rate my experience worse I would but this is just the quick story of what they did to me.

Was referred to UK for a heart CT by a cardiologist because I cannot have stints put in due to a clotting issue. The doctor wanted more detailed information on my heart in order to better determine what the next step is to keep me from having a heart attack. UK called me to schedule the appointment for the test, then told me I had to wear a mask in the hospital and during the procedure. I have PTSD and wearing a mask is impossible without an anxiety attack following. They refused to make reasonable accommodations for me so now I may be dismissed by my cardiologist as a patient because there’s nothing they can do without the information from this test. I get it that people are still scared of COVID, but frankly, I’m a little sick of being treated like a second class citizen and told to stop “causing trouble” over my medical issues with masks. If you want to wear a mask, feel free to do so, but stop making it a “do it or die” regulation for those of us who can’t wear masks or don’t want to. No one will judge you for doing it. We don’t want to be judged for not doing it

Staff love to yell across public areas. The girl in the Cafe was on the phone the entire time at the cash register check out. So rude! This place is dirty. While getting ready for a major surgery, staff dropped items on the dirty floor and then still used them on the pt. This place needs a good leader to make some serious changes.

My mom was in UK Hospital between August 18th and August 31st. The communication was a nightmare with the UK staff and had the family guessing the care that was being given to our mom/grandmom. We did our best to have a family member present each day. We missed one day. There were bright moments like caregivers who took care of mom (nurses, RTs, Environmental Services). The Nero team was amazing. There was little to no communication from the rest of the doctors until the comfort care team took over. I called the Chief Nurse Executive and left a message, and I had to throw a fit over the phone to the nurse on charge in the ICU second shift. See, the family lived 90 minutes or more from Lexington; we could not be there 24/7. We couldn't get a doctor outside the Nero team to talk to us while we were at the hospital either. You would think at a hospital in the USA, you shouldn't have to be there 24/7. The day after those phone calls, we got a lot of empty promises that didn’t hold up. I grew up in Kentucky and always thought the UK hospital was the best in the state. I was wrong. There were questions asked about our mom's medicine that hadn't been answered. Think twice before entering into the UK hospital for something critical.

They have horrible communication skills! They do not listen to what you're telling them, and the hospital, and Dr's are worried about covering their butts. They misdiagnosed my daughter, and delayed treatment. Her pediatrician found that she had pneumonia 2 days after er visit when we went to him. He gave her the proper meds, and she was was already better 2 days later. I called and made a complaint with the hospital, and, was told that the proper care was given to her. Then come to find out that I caught the Dr in a lie.(covering their butt) when I talked to billing dept. Go to Central Baptist, or St. Joe if you need treatment!

Waited for 3 hours to be seen, then I was taken back. The nurse did the usual pre check and now I’m sitting here 30 minutes later still waiting for a doctor. I’m hungry, tired, and planned on maybe spending an hour here when I started. Upset is an understatement, especially considering how overwhelmed I currently am (college life)

Staff is so laid back they mostly chat with each other instead of actually trying to get patients in and out , very rude definitely don’t recommend! Spent most my day waiting to have someone come in and finally talk to you..

Made a payment on my son's account. They took the money out of my account and never deducted it from his bill. They are thieves. I recommend that you audit your bill every month.

Would provide details for the low review but the healthcare system may retaliate against me. This hospital carries the great name of Kentucky and needs to represent this state better.

You get bored of asking for someone who speaks Spanish and it's for fun that they put people to work in customer service who are racist as if our health and money are not worth it
