Drove through Louisville on our way to Nashville with the pup. Needed a place to stretch our legs. Found this park on the map & gave it a shot, was SO impressed!! A local told us the park's architect was the same person who designed Central Park in NYC. It felt safe, was populated, & had tons of fun trails covered in shade to help with the hot summer sun. 100% would recommend!!!

Im a nature lover and found this park out of blue. Liked the curly and hilly roads surrounding it. Very peaceful. Loved the cute and unique houses on the hills. Saw four deers crossing the road from the front yard of the house. Love the scene!

Visiting Louisville area this weekend. Spent three mornings riding the mountain bike trails. They were great! Can they be hard to find- maybe. But after 1.5 laps they were easy to figure out. Plenty of single track / small punchy climbs / roots / and small rock garden section. There were a few hikers and runners on the trails but we respected each other's space. I got there before 7 and had the trails to myself.

Such a peaceful place to go have a picnic, walk the paved road, bike the paved road or take the bike or your own two feet and your dogs 4 feet for a walk on the trails. With over 400 acres nestled in the city of Louisville. Places with play areas for kids, water fountains , creeks you can probably play in, if you like a little splash in the water. Get out see some deer and other wildlife while letting all your stress go with some peaceful nature and relax a little.

First time played, visiting from Canada. Pro shop was super friendly and loaned me a putter from their lost and found. Was a busy day and carts were in high demand, so we started without and the pro delivered us a cart as we headed down the first. Cant say enough about the people or the course, which was very hilly and interesting. It was just a pure pleasure, even on a rain soaked/lightning day that cut our round short. Played with a couple of locals. Pat & Max, and they were gentlemen and my son and I enjoyed their company. I would definitely return when back in the area.

There's trails of all kinds, for all walks of life! The Beargrass Creek trails & Big Rock are some of my most favorite in the Seneca/Cherokee Park system, but there really aren't any bad ones.

My favorite park ever. Or at least in Kentucky! My dogs and I have so much fun doing all of the hidden trails throughout Cherokee in the wooded areas. You can mountain bike on the trails, too! Dogs swimming in creeks and plenty of fresh air.

I am biased. I live next to this park and it is far and away the best part of living in the Highlands. It is part of the 409 arces Olmsted Park system. It is well maintained, and has dozens of trials for those on foot and on wheels. Big Rock is a great place to meet up at during the Summer.

Gorgeous park with tons of natural area! If I lived here, I'd be here all the time. Friendly folks in the park and lots of paths to walk. I love parks that keep the natural environment of the land and they've done a remarkable job here.

Lovely park with great scenery. They is a specific scenic trail for both driver and walkers that's about 2.5 miles. I chose the walk and it was very peaceful and I encountered birds and a few deer along the walk.

This park was very nice. It’s located in a beautiful part of town and you can tell the city takes very good care of it compared to many other parks in Louisville. Only complaint is that it’s ALWAYS busy and swarming with tons of people, and the roads are a bit hard to maneuver if you’re not familiar with the park or the neighboring areas nearby.

Loved this park. Needed a break from down town and found this park. It had beautiful walkways. We enjoyed the mix of wild grasses and landscaping. Great sprawling park!

Cherokee Park is a gem: this review focuses on the lake. As you can see from my pictures -- crappie, bass, catfish, warmouth, and trout (seasonal) can be caught here. That said, it is not the easiest place to catch fish. Pressure is high: it's in the middle of Louisville and is the closest lake for many, many anglers. Even so, don't hesitate to come drop a line in or watch the golfers or simply walk the paved trail. Nice place to walk before or after visiting the restaurant (Le Moo) or Coffee Shop across the street.

Wonderful park. I'm sure many already know, but it was designed Frederick Law Olmstead, same landscape architect who designed NYC's Central Park. Anyhow, it's nicely kept quite wild. In the warmer seasons, it's a great place to encounter diverse insects, along the patches of native plants that you find everywhere. Public restrooms are good, too. Drive slow, if you're going through. Keep in mind it's more people-centered, or at least it ought to be.

Absolutely gorgeous park in the fall, leaves are turning. It’s quiet. Everybody there, the cyclists, mountain bikers and runners are very courteous to each other.

We love hiking and exploring here. Every time we go we find something new! I love the sound of nature, the calming sounds of water, watching animals, spiders, fish, and other living creatures in their own habitat! Trails for walking, hiking, and bicycles. Playground areas, golf course, large open spaces, and woods all in the middle of Louisville.

Next time I go, i will take plenty of pictures. Very nice area, plenty of activities could take place here. Walking hiking and other park equipment. It's worth a drive or walk through if in Louisville.

Beautiful views, loved the scenic route - not much in the way of playground equipment but plenty of space to run and play!

Great place to go for a relaxing walk, run, or bike ride. Weather you walk along the motor route or take the nature trails fresh air is hard to beat. Great place to unwind and forget about your drab and stress filled day. Dog friendly too.

The walking trail is currently under construction and the detour is a little creepy but otherwise the main loop still provides a good workout.

We LOVE this park!! We’ve been here countless times over the years and seasons of life. So much to do here…mountain biking, hiking, running, golf, archery, etc. Anytime the kids need to burn off energy, I’ll take them here!!

  • 5/5 Kathryn F. 10 months ago on Google
GORGEOUS. We found out on our first trip here that the gentleman who designed Central Park in NYC also designed this park. Safe, gorgeous, and dog friendly.

I've always loved coming to Cherokee Park ever since moving to Louisville. I went here last week with my fiance and there were a ton of cicadas! (I don't like them, but it was a fascinating sight, none the less). It was beautiful as always, and there's a lot of trees for shade during the summer.
