There's a reason this hospital has low reviews. They are very rude and nasty. I came in with heart palpitations and explained the last hospital said I was having heart issues. Dr. Shawn McCarty came in and said "we can't do nothing for anxiety offered me something I'm ALLERGIC to that is in my info" and tried leaving. My husband intervened and tried explaining why I was upset about a diagnosis and if he could explain. He then said "We can't give her anything else for anxiety!". My husband said "I get that !! I need you to listen! She doesn't want meds she wants you to explain her last diagnosis cause she's scared". Dr.McCarty then stood in between the door explaining it and left. He did NOT want to be there. I understand it's a hospital. But they were NOT busy at all. He had absolutely NO compassion. Literally wanted to come in for 2.5 seconds and leave. Didn't want to answer any questions or just act like a human being. If you see this "Doctor" Shawn you need to go into another field. Looked like you were in the army or something in the military. This isn't war or battle anymore. We are normal humans with human emotions!!! If you don't enjoy your job and have NO compassion please leave this field so someone who cares about their patients can take over.

I’m rating on 2 visits, 1 visit to the Emergency Room & 1 visit to the surgical center, unrelated. My experiences were a world apart. The ER visit was damaging to me, the nurse infused my IV yet kept declining my concerns there was a problem. I had to call out for someone else to help me and seek treatment elsewhere for a badly infused arm. Yes I reported my experience with this nurse, received a nice phone call from administration offering me the explanation unfortunately this complication is a normal risk. My surgical center visit was flawless, obviously more experienced skilled staff in surgery center than the emergency room. Both bills were more expensive than similar services I had received at Baptist & Norton. You have good options in this area.

I nearly missed paying a bill for here because neither it, nor the visit itself, ever showed up on MyChart and it literally got lost in the mail. I only knew something from them was supposed to arrive because of my USPS Informed Delivery. Based on the response I got from their support, ALOT of my visits will probably never show up on MyChart so I guess that means never going to another UofL facility if I can at all help it. For added context, this is not the first time I have had a horrible experience with a UofL medical facility. I had an irritating beyond belief experience with an MRI a few years back that finally had to be written off. The reason? They kept submitting it to my insurance wrong and then trying to say I was responsible for a few thousand dollars instead of the around $500-600 I was supposed to be responsible for even though their agreement with my insurance I had at the time basically said they can't make me responsible for the full bill when it is a filing error on their side. Whatever 3rd party bill processor that facility was using failed at submitting the bill at least 4 or 5 times. The reason it failed? They sent it to the wrong address. They did so even after I did a conference call with the bill processor and my insurance so my insurance could explain to them step by step exactly what they needed to do, correct address included. That went on for over a year. So, I am just DONE.

I would give it no stars if I could. Avoid this hospital at all cost especially if it’s an emergency! They will take hours upon hours to even get you in a room. Oh and very rude staff like get a new profession if you can’t handle working at a hospital. Oh and let’s get started on bedside manner. They didn’t give me the call button or put my rails up and I’m a fall risk. This hospital needs to be sued for negligence.

Was seen on 11/17 for coughing / flu symptoms along with severe side and back pains. The only test done was flu and Covid and was prescribed a medication that is no longer made or available in any pharmacy. When the hospital was called back, they stated they knew the medication was no longer made but was still prescribed? We were advised to buy an over the counter medication that has already been tried unsuccessfully ,thus the visit to the ER. Very unprofessional and uncaring, with no real concern for my well-being at all. Was not even asked what medications I am currently on and was given ibuprofen which is NOT to be taken with my current medications. No concern or testing at all regarding the pain, not even an X-ray.

This hospital was a joke or maybe it was just the night we chose to go. The Triage nurse informed us that we should have went to a real hospital. Told us that they didn't have "real doctors" here. All the paperwork we received at discharge had false information on it. Had a CT done and it wasn't even on the paperwork. All the updated meds that the triagenurse supposedly wrote down weren't even on the discharge papers. So glad we didn't end having a real emergency. Next time we will just drive the extra 7 minutes.

Treated my daughter with respect. Few issues dr was running behind on surgeries cause from my understanding he was late this morning though we was expected to arrive by 6:30 A.M. with no reason to be late. Also parking is an issue. Make the spots wider or something. Was sitting in my car and car parked on my right side and the lady flung open her door hitting my car. Had I not been in it I would have never known.

The absolute worst ER treatment ever experienced. Complete lack of concern, lack of follow through, and lack of understanding and communication of test results. Sent me home saying “everything was normal”, only to find out later I was septic. The ER doc hadn’t looked at my test results at all. May have even looked at the wrong patient. Instead he lectured me on nutrition and sent me home.

I came here to have surgery on my eyelid and my experience was so amazing!! All the staff was so kind and patient. My nurse Natalie was funny and took great care of me. The nurses who did my IV were gentle and took their time. The anesthesiologist made me feel very comfortable about my procedure because she explained everything and made sure I was was comfortable the whole time. I always the the U of L medical staff!

I'm literally in the room right now, I got to the hospital at 5:50pm and I am writing this review at 9:15 pm. I have only been given ibuprofen and I have waited about 2:30 hours to get an ultrasound that apparently hasn't arrived yet. The nurse is so rude and mean, she chose the wrong profession for her attitude. We come here because we are in pain or afraid that we might have something more serious than we think k. We are being charged lots of money for being here and yet they treat you with disrespect 😤. I'm still here and no one has come to my room since I got here . This hospital used to be better before they decided to change the name. . I'm so disappointed 😞

I went the ER because my Dr wanted me to get my PICC line checked out for possible infection. The ER Dr was just supposed to do a blood test and call my other Dr and go from there. Guess he didn't listen to her either because he came in and said she wanted to take it out. She didn't mean for him to take it out but guess what he tried to do after he found someone to show him how to open the stat lock. I tried to tell him that I have had this line since August of last year and it has a cuff in under my skin. I was put to sleep when they put it in mychest.

I was at St.Mary’s and then 2 days later I went to Southwest .. I ended up having to to this ER and I couldn’t have been happier with the experience. I was basically being told I was over reacting about my pain. Come to find out by the dr at East I have gallstones and that my pain is very much real. I am super satisfied with the care that I have received here and I highly recommend going here with all your emergencies

This is for Nicole she is a nurse that works at this facility third shift she is very polite kind and I appreciate her kindness when I was here…. Very polite…. The doctor that did the test on me she Checked everything that she could she did a complete investigation on the problem that I was having …. She was also very attentive to what was going on…. There was a lady that was here that was not so nice to me her name was Hannah— Hannah was the first nurse but Nicole took over for her…. Thank you Nicole- But other than that everyone was polite …

This is hands down the best ER that does not require an overnight stay. I’m always treated well and I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be taken back. The doctors really listen to me and help me feel at ease when experiencing an emergency. The nurses are awesome, as well! 10 out of 10 would highly recommend.

This hospital is so generic. I cannot even believe it exists. The doctor was rude and the triage nurse was rude. The nurse who administered the medication never washed her hands and touched all over the tablets. The doctor released my son and did not prescribe any medications for him. She only gave a few tablets in the ER and sent us home. This place is truly a joke.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Nurses treated my husband poorly. The bigger white lady at the front with the really long hair was the rudest person I’ve ever experienced in the medical field. Go anywhere else but here.

Worst visit I’ve had in forever! Took them an hour to get me back from the waiting room being 8 weeks pregnant and stomach pain…. Then another 3 hours to take blood still sitting here at 3 am and I’m discharging myself I will go to another doctor/hospital in the morning

My first visit to Jewish was very good. It was in the evening and the Dr was very caring and through. She told me if I didn't start feeling better to come back. I didn't feel better so I came back. This visit has been horrible. The Dr didn't even examine me just asked me a few questions and said my original diagnoses of sphenoid sinusitis had not cleared up and gave me another antibiotic. She said I could have a touch of covid even when my test was negative! She just didn't want to deal with doing more.

Incompetent and lack of communication. I was advised to get a second opinion so I thought I would try this place because of recommendations. I did exactly what the appointment desk told me…and a month later I find out my mri imaging cd of partial tear in rotator cuff that I handed them myself was thrown in the trash bin, never to be found again. I put the cd and dr notes in a huge white envelope with my phone number written so big that a nearly blind person can see. But they still couldn’t see and now my imaging is in the trash and I have to skip lunch AGAIN and leave work early to get another set of imaging from medical records. Not only am I wasting more time but I feel like my case is a piece of trash to them. Why do I have to advocate so hard to get semi-decent healthcare in America? Overseas I don’t have to work this hard to get minimal care. (I’m an American, born and raised, but have lived abroad for a few years.)

In the past the level of professionalism was superb. However my experience today was horrible. Once taking back to the ER room I was asked questions by a tech. I waiting for the ultrasound for my leg. During that wait not one nurse or doctor came in. No vitals taking. So I finally went to the nurses station to inquire about my ultrasound, to ask for a Tylenol and blanket. Since no one came in the room. Never received it even after that. Thankfully the tech that took over was surprised to hear no one had been in. She was so quick to react. I am so thankful for her actions with getting me a blanket and getting the doctor on duty to come in. Her services were greatly appreciated. Once giving the discharge paperwork the diagnosis the doctor spoke with me about doesn’t match the paperwork given to me. Also the first tech never checked my vitals when I first came in. When it was time to be discharged, the second did and noticed my blood pressure was up. I stated I figured it would be considering my leg ached badly. I told her I still never received the Tylenol I asked for. Once discharged the pharmacy that I told the tech in Middletown is not the pharmacy they sent the prescriptions to. Hours sitting and watching patients leaving after extremely long wait, having to hear the nurses loud conversations. Which was a total disrespect to the patients as well as themselves. The name change makes me wonder if it did something to the level of professionalism. This was June 11, 2022 from 5:15 to 10:10

Went to the ER here a few days ago for chronic insomnia. I wouldn't say that I was treated like a patient should be... And apparently the ER staff were too busy at 2am to go over the results of my CT scan with me. I've since been referred to "medical records" to pick up copies of my own CT scan for self-analysis (I guess?) Needless to say, I'll be sticking to specialists from now on.

The staff is incredibly rude. They made me feel like I did not matter and did not actually treat my problem. I ended up going to the Minute Clinic in CVS the next day and the NP treated me instead.

I went to the ER on November 25, 2022. I felt I had an emergency. I was treated extremely rude. Nurse Hannah ask me "what do you what us to do about it?" and then told me to see an ENT. I left to never return to this location. Extremely unprofessional and absolutely no empathy.

I have been given good care here, but I was so shocked that there was no G.I appointments until next year, they don’t even offer giving other options to help out like what if a patient has some serious symptoms going on, like where is the compassion and to wait that long until April is very far fetched when you’re trying to keep all your specialists in one place. My urologist keeps telling me I really need to see a GI because of my SCI and I can’t even get in.

**Update: they called and tried to connect me to the supervisor of billing, but she's not returning calls. Please look at your bills carefully. They are trying to charge me for a covid test/visit that my insurance should cover 100%. UofL didn't bill it properly so they could make an extra money. They also have a bill for my kid (same day, same test) that they've never sent. It's almost 2 YEARS OLD and they've NEVER sent it, but will one day. God knows when. This should be illegal.** They asked me to call them about my experience, and all I got was a voicemail box with no return call. They aren't trying to fix anything when they respond to negative reviews. They're only giving the illusion of trying to fix it. I'm going to be reporting to BBB asap. I'm also reporting them to the KY Attorney General for their fraudulent billing practices.

I had a lithotripsy today at this medical center, I have had MANY bad experiences with doctors as my WORST fear is needles and hospitals. These doctors made me feel extremely safe and helped me in every single way they possibly could. I had an amazing experience here! I want to thank doctor sweitzer and all of his staff for absolutely everything they did to help me! Thank you uofl!

I would give this emergency room a negative 100 if it was possible. Absolute worst hospital experience in my life. I literally had to suggest how to do things to sew my wifes injuries from a dog fight. Waiting 3 hours with bleeding wounds and not even cleaned during that time ! WE did more prep work than the staff. The Dr did fine, and he too was appalled by what had happened prior to his arrival. Complete lack of capable care from staff. Nurses walking around laughing and completely ignoring my wife and her blood running out on the floor ! They didnt disinfect anything until the Dr instructed them to do it 3 hours after intake ! I wouldn't take one of my dogs to this place. Guess thats why its usually empty. Inexcusable !!! And absolutely pathetic, go somewhere else !

I had a great experience here! I had my first major surgery yesterday and I was extremely nervous for it. All the staff I interacted with was amazing! Especially Jay in PACU. I woke up nervous and confused after surgery, but she really comforted me and made feel safe! She made sure I was comfortable before heading back to Pre-Op. My Pre-Op nurse Jessica was also good about easing my nerves before going back. Such a great experience and if I ever need a procedure again, I will most definitely come back here! Thank you all for helping me through this!

My wife has been crying in we for almost 6 hours. She has been stuck in a room for almost 24 hours. The staff this morning was great. How ever the staff now won’t help with her pain won’t help with her discomfort we have been waiting for a transfer since 12noon, it is now midnight. Will not be back

Had to pick up my 91 year old father at 1:30 am because he was being released! He went in that evening & told my brother to go home that they were keeping overnight because he had a blood clot his leg!! They said he was fine to go home & they couldn’t board him overnight! I said we’re all asleep & working the weekend! The said they could put him in a cab!!! Absurd this is happening to my father, who’s had been in & out of hospitals all year! The worst I’ve ever encountered!! Soo bad!

Had ongoing health issues that forced me to UofL East’s ER twice in three months. Dr. Chung worked hard to help me but couldn’t find a cause. He listened and had a good bedside manner, though an accurate diagnosis couldn’t be determined. (He is the only reason this review gets any stars.) On the second visit, I encountered Dr. Newman. No bedside manner. Completely dismissive and tried to treat me for symptoms that I explicitly told them I was not experiencing. She acted like I was “putting her out” for asking her to do her job. If you encounter her, turn around and go to Baptist East.
