We live in a different state and before we even left home we called this hospital to ask about children seeing loved ones and was told by a woman that children 12 and under weren’t aloud in the room. Okay fine we figured there would at least be a waiting room so we could switch out and it would allow the adults to see the loved one. NOPE! Drove hours to get here and was told children 12 and under aren’t even aloud inside! So that means at least one adult will have to either sit in a car with them or back at a hotel room. Ridiculous! This policy needs to be thrown out! Covid restrictions my butt!! Now they’re not going to be able to see their great grandfather! Shame on whoever is implementing this policy! I sure hope it’s not your family dying and your kids not being aloud to see them! 😡

Can someone tell me how Baptist East Hospital can be rated #1 in the region. This is the worst hospital I’ve ever been to. My mother was served mixed jelly that was probably a decade old. I couldn’t even get it out of the pack. I called Patient Relations and left my name and phone number, and never did get a callback. Most of the nurses my mother had were horrible and had nasty attitudes. Baptist East was the only hospital I would go to, but not anymore!! How horrible for patients who don’t have family members. The food for my mother was always cold, and once it was brought in by dietary, it was placed were she couldn’t reach it. She would call out to the nurses station to tell them she needed help with her food. When they came in she would tell them what happened and that her food was probably cold. Do you think they heated it up? No, they didn’t!!! This stuff happened both times she was a patient. Make sure you always ask your loved ones questions about the staff and how they have been treated. Also it took the nurse an hour and a half to print off discharge paperwork. What a horrible place!!! Smh.The bathroom light blew and no one ever came to fix it. So, can you imagine having to do your business in the dark. Baptist you should be ashamed of yourselves. There was also a hole in the wall in her room. The monitor tech would answer the call light and then would cut it off before you could finish telling her what you needed. The staff is very confused. I’ve never seen anything like this. Our family didn’t find anything about “excellence “ at Baptist East.

Pre admission Testing (PAT) gets patient care right. From the moment I entered the first door the staff that I encountered was understanding, welcoming, pleasant and ready to assist. Some msg think it’s just talking information to fill out forms but even that makes a difference. It says a lot about hire they view their position on the staff and their view of the facility as a whole. KUDOS to the PAT Team! Thank you for making what could be a stressful time very easy!

I would just like to remind the doctors that when a patient is unconscious in ICU or anywhere, to remember that the patient may be able to hear you. Doctors came in and made remarks about my loved one possible being a vegetable. My loved one was unconscious. Thank God for His power and the good people in the hospital who took care of her the best that they could. She came home and made a full recovery. She also could recall verbatim what the doctors had said. I don't know if they can teach empathy in medical school, it is a character trait (along with emotional intelligence) that a person is born with.

Do not recommend the emergency department. Unprofessional staff is putting it nicely. Considering the times, I was very patient while I waited 12 hours in the waiting room for bloodwork and chest X-ray results. After 12 hours I wanted to make sure I wasn’t misplaced or looked over. All for a front desk employee to tell me “everything looked great and I was free to go” I believe that simple message could’ve been relayed hours beforehand rather than me waiting from 9pm-9am.

I don't know why anyone would leave this place bad reviews. Every single nurse doctor and staff member was extremely informative, caring and helpful. They went above and beyond to ensure that my wife and baby were happy, healthy, comfortable and had a smooth delivery. You all are more than just nurses and doctors you guys are REAL LIFE SUPERHEROS! I can't thank you all enough for bringing my daughter into this world and making sure that she and my wife are well taken care of.

I was at Baptist Hospital East for an elective surgery in July 2022. The hospital room was in the Tower. The room was private, clean, quiet and well lit with cheerful wall colors. The meals were excellent in taste and variety! The food was delivered hot and fresh. The nurses and their assistants were all caring, attentive, knowledgeable of procedures and equipment. If I needed help they were there for me 24/7. I was always treated as if I was family! I would highly recommend this hospital to all my friends and family. This hospital and its staff are the best!

One of the worst experiences of my life. The most rude, condescending, and just outright nasty attitudes with zero compassion for an auto accident victim. Who raised those people? The fact that I just gave a review of one of the best experiences at another hospital complex that I've recently had led me here today. My accident happened in June of 2017 and I was taken to Louisville BAPTIST Hospital. Wherein, I was treated like trash by all but one sweet lady who came in to confirm my insurance information. Pathetic!

I recently had a baby at Baptist Health and requested an epidural. Dr . Christopher Payton came into the room to provide the service, upon his arrival he did not introduce himself, make eye contact with myself or my husband or speak to me directly. He came in and started yelling off possible side effects of the epidural and started the procedure. He did not warn me he was about to stick me with lidocaine to numb me, the only reason I was prepare was because the nurse informed me. He attempted the epidural a total of three times, this is my third child and third epidural so I understand the first time may not be successful, however, I began to have excruciating pain down the left side of my body/leg, he asked where the pain was and I informed him twice the left side, he then smacked my shoulder and began to explain my left from right as if I was confusing them. After the third attempt he left and an ample amount of time passed and I was not getting any relief of contractions and still had full range of movement and feeling. At this point, things got a little crazy with the baby and multiple nurses came in as well as my doctor and they quickly decided to have a c section (this was approximately 45 mins after the initial epidural) and I was still feeling everything. This process was extremely painful and uncomfortable. Dr Payton came back into the room and yelled at me “what are you feeling?”, I tried to explain I was feeling everything and he was rude and dismissive. He gave me another bolus and still, nothing. Resulting in me having to be completely put under during my c section and I did not get to be present or my husband for the birth of our son. This was a very traumatic experience and I was extremely unhappy with my experience of Dr. Payton.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Literally sat there for the longest time, no one checking on me, no comforting while I’m sitting here in labor. After 24 hours of waiting they decide c section is best. Ok. When I got home I noticed my incision line wasn’t one, it was two! My stomach is butchered and will never be the same. The whole time in the hospital, a lot of the nurses were rude and looked at me like a child because I was a young mother. One even stated I should be living with someone who knows what their doing. One nurse told me I was supposed to be cleared a day early to go home but they kept me another day and wouldn’t take my iv out until they were ready. I stayed an extra day for nothing. Then was told I couldn’t leave early? Bad communication. They decided that the umbilical cord for my child was just fine and that it shouldn’t be cleaned with alcohol because the “natural” way is better. When it fell off, it didn’t look so normal. I suggest sticking to the old methods! They don’t know what they are talking about! Take care of your baby the way you want to. Mothers know what’s best for their babies!! I shouldn’t be treated like a baby when I just birthed a baby. When I have another child this will be the LAST place I go!

Outpatient Surgery - impressed and thankful for such friendly and helpful staff, from waiting area to nurses to transporters. Amenities are clean and comfortable including guest waiting areas, full service coffee shop and private outpatient rooms.

I don't know what the issue is with Baptist and health insurance, but it is so horrible and unfair that they can not work out their issues. I have been seeing my bone and gastro doctors for over 10 yrs. Now as of Jan 2024 I can no longer see them! It is not only inconvenient but very hard for me to find great doctors like the ones I see. You have proven that you never cared about your patients and are all about money!!!!! Baptist should be ashamed of themselves!!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT PATIENTS AND THEIR HEALTH!!!!!

I am here now, was admitted Thursday with a severe broken ankle and leg. Due to swelling my surgery is in the morning I was asked to stay for my own safety because of living alone. I can't say enough about how I've been treated. Doctors, nurses, aides, nutrition and housekeeping, have treated me with kindness and respect. They quickly found out even with my pain level and being bed ridden that I have a silly sense of humor. It's been difficult and overwhelming but they've kept me entertained and comfortable. There have been so many different people I can't remember them all, but shout outs to Odessa, Kari, Joy, Kyla, Breanna, Hannah, Megan, Layne, Sarah, All of the ER staff, Dr. Robert's, Brittany, Whitney and several more. Not wanting to leave anyone out. Obviously I'm not looking forward to surgery, but my confidence in this hospital and these wonderful professionals is keeping me calm and I know I will be in good hands tomorrow Thank you all Sincerely, Nancy Medley

Labor & delivery was awful. Gave birth in August and was told to stop screaming while pushing my baby out. I had nitrous oxide and was told I had to hold the mask up to my nose and mouth and that no one would be able to do it for me yet one of the nurses kept pushing the mask up to my face when I kept trying to put it away. I declined all iv meds and they still gave me an iv “just in case” then kept poking my other arm to draw blood instead. Took over 24h for them to take the unused IV out of my wrist I had to call them a couple times to get someone to remove it. Kept pushing a paternity test after me and my partner both declined. We signed the paternity papers and got them notarized and the nurses didn’t turn the paperwork in so my daughters dad was left off the birth certificate which we had to pay to get fixed. Definitely will not go here for our next baby. The Night shift nurse during our stay was nice and helpful but overall an awful experience

I was admitted to CCU a couple of weeks ago. The nurses and everyone I encountered treated me great. They went above and beyond to make me comfortable. I ended back in the ER a few days later. Again, everyone was great. I live in LaGrange (about ten minutes from Baptist LaGrange. I'll drive farther to go to Baptist Louisville.

I had ankle surgery a couple days ago. This was my first experience with the hospital. If I could give 10 stars to the Outpatient Surgery Department I would. It’s a clean beautiful area and every member of the staff was warm, welcoming and professional. The nurses in preop and the OR were great. Anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist were also. Love Dr McQuillen. No one acted like my husband and I were a burden. Nobody was crabby or acted like they hated being there. It was a very pleasant experience

My father had a knee replacement here and while the care was very good, the discharge process was terrible!! I'm a nurse in a hospital setting so I do understand that it is a process and can be somewhat lengthy; however, I've never seen or heard of it taking well over 6 hrs after all MD's have signed off and wrote discharge orders.... especially when discharge was delayed for another day just for observation. Nice facility and nice staff, but something/someone DEFINITELY needs to look into a speedier discharge process!!!

My complaint is with cardiology department, trying to book an appointment is ridiculous. Get transferred then get a recorded message, left my name and phone number, requesting a callback to set up appointment. Wednesday about noon, again Thursday at 9 am. It's noon Friday and still no callback. So what's so hard about booking appointments in cardiology? I've not ever had a problem getting an appointment in any other department. I'm sure I've had 30 visits in 7 years and not had problems. No complaints about hospital or doctors. Doctors and staff are excellent. UPDATE... SEEMS LIKE MAKING AN APPOINTMENT IN YOUR MY CHART IS MUCH FASTER.

I went to BH ER with severe chest pains in the center of my chest, right after midnight on 30 Jan 22. ER staff did what they are trained to do, got me right back to a room, and a whole bunch of medical professionals went to work saving my life!! Dr. Semder(is a wonderful doctor) placed a stent in a coronary artery to open up the blockage, using a heart catheterization through the Radial Artery. Thank you to all at Baptist Health Hospital, for all your training, your professionalism, and your sacrifices, so we get the care when and where we need it!! Bless you all!!

Recently had a 5 day stay on the 5th floor East Vascular Thoracic Center. The nurses, aides and doctors have been awesome and have taken great care of me. Food wasn’t half bad either. My only complain is inter-departmental scheduling but I can imagine that there are too many variables considering emergencies, unexpected staffing challenges, etc.

I am very apprehensive concerning Doctors and hospitals. My time spent in the Observation Unit was as pleasant as it could possibly be. Every single staff member that worked with me was professional, empathetic, and explained things in a very thorough manner. Dr. O'Dell and Nurse Keira are two names I remember... and there were so many others. Thank you all for taking such good care of me when I was in pain and vulnerable.

My best friend of 20+ years passed away here on October 22, 2023. I just want to say the team working that morning around 10am in the ICU was professional, respectful, comforting, compassionate, loving and caring. I will always be grateful for the way family and friends were treated in that difficult time. Thank you all and much love and respect

Don’t be late! I went the wrong direction on my way to my appointment at the Dr. office at Kresge this morning and was going to be late. I called and explained; they said there was a 15-minute grace period or I would be rescheduled. I got there 14 minutes late, after the long walk from that long parking lot and waiting on the elevator stopping on 2 floors going up. I was turned away, told it was only a 10-minute grace period. I’ve been seeing this doctor for years and they recently moved to Kresge office. I was rescheduled and sent home!!! A 35-40 minute drive for me.

My mother is receiving chemotherapy. This experience has been terrible. Not due to the doctors or nurses. I actually have had a great experience with the staff. Other than the lady behind the greeting desk. Very rude, throws out commands and even ignores you. She speaks over you and with such disrespect. The issue is covid. I drive several hours to be with my mother. I get to the hospital for my mothers chemotherapy treatment. I was told I cant be beside my mother through this very difficult time. Can you imagine going through something so horrific? Then told your loved one can't be there beside you.So sad! so now I am sitting in my car waiting over 3 hours to wait for my mother. Not inside the bldg cause the seating is not enough for busy times. It is a sad time we live in. This hospital or any health care provider can help with memories or feeling alone 😔. What good did it do to get vaccinated? To be told that's not enough smh.

The quality of care is difficult to determine at this time and location due to the relative sense of stress on the medical system due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I myself felt like my concerns were not considered. *No I won’t follow up with a call or conversation. The quality of care has been consistently fair, while the food is inedible. I had to arrive at this hospital by EMS and earlier in the day I was misdiagnosed at a Baptist Hospital clinic. I arrived at midnight and I didn’t see a room until 6 AM. I am not certain that the patient experience will improve.

They waited until almost a year and a half later to send us a 3rd bill. Worst yet, they never actually sent us a bill...it wasn't until we were turned over to collections that we found out about it. We were already paying two bills from this place so why would we not pay this one had we know about it? So yea, I'm gonna pay it but not without telling the public the truth about your shady billing practices. This is a throwaway account because I don't need you people contacting me. You know full well why I'm leaving this review.

I had a test at Baptist Health on Friday 6/23/23 and the technician told me the results would be in My Chart the following Monday. Well, it's 10 days later and no results. I have called Baptist no less than 4 times. No one has a clear answer for me nor am I sure they have been totally honest with me. I have left a phone message with the grievances department and no return call yet as well. I think my nest test will need to be at Norton Hospital.

After spending 13 days at this hospital, i'm very disappointed. I've always believed they were a great place to go when sick. But, that wasn't the case. I was in intense pain, and vomiting for 10 days. Several Ct scans and Xray's. And, the final straw, a Ct scan that went horrible wrong. Think twice before you go, yes you are only a number.

Most of the services and staff are excellent and professional. However, their lack of attention towards the needs of patients , and their inability to identify individuality, causes a power trip for some. They treat people like a number and look for ways to assert power with threats of denying services. I’m disappointed with their response, deflecting, to an issue that was easily resolved.

My mother is currently in the hospital with congestive heart failure. The doctors and nurses are great but this one CNA has been horrible to her. Talking down to her yelling at her saying she should just quit and how this is just a job to her. Paula is a terrible person

I wish they didn't use ice pick size needles to take blood. Recently had it taken by Katie in Dr Kemp's office and it was painless. I had to wait 3 hours for anxiety med before surgery. Not good for an old lady. Bad experience. BUT nurses are the best!

I went in because I just found out I had a miscarriage, I have my Sac still attached and no baby. I need a D&C or medicine to dissolve the Sac!! Dr Holland and the rest of his ER staff was very rude tonight! I have been to the hospital over 4 times due to (HG) Not one of them would listen to my concerns, I’ve already had an extremely difficult day finding out I miscarried. Something needs to be done, there’s no reason for smart remarks and no need for the nurses to treat us any different than any other patient! All I wanted was some relief but instead got IV fluids! Would not recommend the ER or Dr Holland to anyone especially grieving mothers!

  • 2/5 Jason L. 1 year ago on Google
First of all, the staff has been great. I don’t understand, however, why they’re enforcing the wearing of masks but 90% of the nurses have handled my wife’s care, including her IVs, without washing their hands or wearing gloves. This includes leads and supervisors. Is basic infection control important, or just the illusion that it matters with face masks?

We delivered our daughter here in August 2021 and couldn't be happier. The Labor & Delivery and Mother & Baby Unit staff were all amazing! But a majority of our time was spent with the NICU staff and they made such an uncertain, stressful time comforting. All the nurses and doctors that worked with us were kind, thorough and willing to explain everything in depth. We are so thankful we chose to deliver at Baptist Health Louisville! The cafeteria was such a life saver. A different menu everyday for the hot food, and the prices were decent. Also have "gas station like" selection of snacks and drinks. The only negative here was the hallway bathrooms we had to use once I no longer had my room were all so dirty. They smelt bad, sticky floors, and stains all over the walls.

Overall nurses took good care of my dying grandma. But, better communication skills need to be established between nurses. We should not have been sitting in her room talking to her holding her hand, thinking she was still with us just to have to determine for ourselves that she was not breathing nor had a pulse & have to wait 5 minutes for a nurse to come in and say “oh I thought you knew” (coming from the only nurse we had seen all morning) and to tell us they had pronounced her dead nearly 30 minutes ago. That nurse had one job in that moment….

Went to ER on Friday with terrible back pain. The ER Drs and staff were amazing. Admitted me to observation room and spent the night. They provided me with appropriate testing and meds. I cannot speak more highly of the care I received both through ER and observation ward.

My Mom passed away on FRI, 13 OCT 2023 at Baptist East Hospital. While my two sisters and I were there a chaplain named Shannon assisted us. He was one of the better chaplains I have encountered, especially to people having just lost a loved one. He was considerate, thoughtful and very sensitive to our needs. He did an outstanding job! God Bless!!
