I am local and wanted to use a suite at the Bellwether to get ready on my wedding day. I reached out via email to make sure this was ok, as extra people would be in and out for makeup, hair and photography. I was told it was perfectly fine to do, so I booked my suite for the weekend and paid in full. A month later, my reservation was cancelled and refunded without warning and the message I received was that they had not set the rates for that weekend yet. Though I should not have had to pay any additional amount as the onus should be on the business to ensure rates are correct, it wasn’t even offered to me to do so. There was zero attempt at any customer service to remedy the situation. I was dumbfounded by how incredibly poorly this was handled and therefore cannot recommend the Bellwether to any friends or family who are coming into town for our wedding or for future visits.

I really liked the atmosphere of this hotel. The room was very stylish, and the bathroom was clean. Just a couple of things to know before you go: there's no parking lot and there's no front desk. Neither was a deal killer for me, it was just a bit out of the ordinary. For parking you had to park on the street which was difficult because it's a pretty popular area at night. We just parked in a plaza parking lot and made a short walk to the hotel) we did move the car later in the evening). The check in and check out process was very seamless! I would definitely stay this hotel again.

Upon entering it feels very glamorous. The lobby is beautiful and smelled amazing. Immediately after our stay I messaged for what they were using to scent the space and they immediately got back with me. Everything felt lux, even the coffee table in the room was substantial and lovely. Attention was paid to every detail of the stay and we will gladly stay again on the future.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Bellweather Hotel following its impressive renovation. The transformation from a dilapidated building into a stylish, boutique hotel is nothing short of commendable. The result is an Airbnb-type experience with a charming common area that exudes a quaint yet trendy vibe, with tasteful decorations and comfortable seating. However, our overall experience was marred by a few issues that could have been easily avoided. Despite the chic ambiance, we encountered several bugs in our room during our stay - one in the bed and another on the towels. Although I documented this with photos, I will refrain from posting them so as not to deter potential visitors. Another aspect that could use some improvement is their communication system. After making my payment, I received a confirmation text message with a link with additional info for our stay. Seeing that this was the established method of comm, I was expecting another closer to our visit date with the ID confirmation. However, no such message was received and it wasn't until the day of our stay that I found it as an email confirming our reservation. A simple text or call from the hotel would have been more reassuring and made more sense. Our check-in process also left much to be desired. The access code provided to us initially didn't work, leading to several futile attempts and back-and-forth emailing with hotel staff who insisted it was correct. Eventually, we went to dinner instead of continuing to troubleshoot and they issued us an alternate code which thankfully worked upon our return. Also, if not otherwise known, the street the bellweather is on is quite lively. In conclusion, while the Bellweather Hotel has done an admirable job in renovating its premises and creating an appealing aesthetic, there are still areas where their service falls short - most notably cleanliness and communication. These issues did affect our overall experience but does not negate the potential this boutique hotel has if these concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.

We booked two rooms (Spring Suite and Willow Suite) for a sisters' bachelorette weekend getaway. To be honest, we started off on pretty rocky ground. We were contacted and told that one of our rooms had a leak from above and there was an unsightly stain on the ceiling. It was difficult getting customer service to respond back to concerns we had about the stain and to see if we could be moved to another room. Check-in was a breeze and on-street parking was ample. When we arrived, we discovered the ceiling leak was not a big issue at all. Our rooms were so comfortable, well-stocked and lovely that we felt at home immediately. Beds and pillows were super comfortable. Everything you need for your stay is right at your fingertips. We'd definitely stay at The Bellwether Hotel again. Highly recommend! Only additional advice would be to have a better system to communicate with your guests if there are issues. Prompt responses and actual phone calls help smooth communications.

We checked in at 7pm. It was cold outside. The hotel did not leave the heat on in the room. It was 40 degrees in the room. It was after midnight before the room temperature reached 65. I was miserable all night. We tried sitting in the lobby to keep warm, but security kicked us out at 10pm. We were being very quiet.

My husband and I did a quick Friday-Saturday overnight visit and we loved our experience. Unfortunately we were just passing through since we had big plans Saturday to go to the Louisville Slugger museum and then the Reds game in Cincinnati. We loved the privacy and the ease of getting into the room, and the bed was so comfy. The aesthetics were stunning everywhere you looked, but the lounge was GORGEOUS! We know there’s more to do in Louisville that we didn’t get the chance to dive into, and when we come back, the Bellwether will be our first choice as a soft place to land.

Very comfortable, well appointed room in a stylish hotel in the heart of Louisville's Highland community. A great area for walking and enjoying many unique restaurants and shops. Outside my room was a beautiful lobby area with comfortable seating. I would highly recommend this hotel for extended families or groups of friends.

I loved this hotel. I was in town for a business meeting, and though the meeting was elsewhere in town, dinner was just down the street, and I wanted to be able to retire for the night if needed after dinner. I wanted to stay someplace local, and I wanted there to be some character to the location. In these areas the Bellwether did not disappoint. The room was beautifully decorated in a minimalist deco style but retained all the necessary amenities. The street parking and secured doors were perfect, and the hotel was quiet as a mouse when I got it, and stayed that way until morning. 5/5 i will return to the Bellwether again.

GREAT hotel! Will definitely stay again. Beautiful interior, room, and bathroom. Fantastic Highland area location. Able to walk to restaurants and bars. Management checked in each morning via email to ask if we needed anything.

Fantastic place. Love not having to check in or deal with keys. Place is beautiful, quiet, comfortable, neighborhood is cool. New cocktail bar coming next door. Everything is done right all the way down to the soaps used. It's like stepping back in time. I'll be back. The only thing I could find fault with if I tried was too much sunlight coming in in the morning. Needs blackout curtains pretty bad.

Absolutely loved the Tyler Suite this past weekend! We were in Louisville for the first time and stayed at the Bellwether while attending Bourbon & Beyond. The property is so well done and the Highlands locations is perfect! Loved the bedding (we slept like a rock), and we were able to easily work from our room or the lounge using the reliable wifi. The no-contact model may seem different at first, but I promise you after a couple of nights, you'll be fully sold! Gorgeous spot and can't wait to go back. Have already shared with friends!

This is hands down the best hotel experience in the city! From it’s beautifully curated interior, rich historical backstory, and perfect location with so many great Louisville landmarks and attractions within walking distance it’s absolutely one of the city’s treasures you have to experience for yourself! I booked the Highlands Station for a friends milestone birthday, it was fantastic! A four bedroom suite with a full kitchen it was a perfect place for a cozy birthday dinner- I loved it so much I came back for a stay in the Rosewood suite, which was equally just as amazing! Every detail of my stay was beautifully calculated! I would recommend this hotel above all the rest in Louisville, and I’ll always treat myself to the Bellwether- it’s always worth it!

Stayed at the Bellwether while visiting Louisville for a friends wedding. It was super charming, comfortable, clean and quiet. The location was ideal and we were able to walk to dinner and brunch or get quick ubers to the wedding event locations. Also only about 15/20 minutes from the airport which was nice. It was easy to enter with our code and felt very safe. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

4 pillows, cacoon mattress, rooms have at least 14ft ceilings and fan! Circulation! Hallways were aromatized! Is that a word! Is now! After 2 days of brewery hopping, The Bellwether wasn't just a room! But another event to enjoy in Louisville. Unforgettable experience!

Our son and his fiancé and their wedding party stayed at the Bellwether for a bachelor/bachelorette weekend. They had an absolutely wonderful stay. In addition to the fabulous and stylish accommodations, the location was perfect for easily getting to all of fun and cool areas of Louisville. Highland Station was a fabulous gathering place and our friends hosted an Open House in the common area of that space for the bride and groom. Everything about the stay was perfect. Highly recommend!

I found The Bellwether’s unique restoration story too intriguing to pass up, and my night in the sunny Golden Hour Suite was the perfect start to a long-awaited birthday weekend. If architectural renovation is your thing, you’re not going to want to miss waking up in this gem! It is perfectly appointed, with every amenity you could need. I can’t wait to return and enjoy the decor of another room and spend time learning more of the history of the building. If you go, don’t pass up an opportunity to hop across the street for a meal at Bristol Bar & Grille!!

I booked as a stay-cation for a weekend and loved it! Check in instructions were clear and easy to follow. The room was stocked with anything we needed and we felt so cozy. We stayed in the "Golden Hour" room and it was so beautiful, like the rest of the building. I am so happy with this addition to Louisville and cannot wait to check out the other themed rooms!

Hard to say anything about the service because you have to do self check in, but there was no problem in the email contact. Everything ran smoothly. The rooms were beautiful and clean and very spacious. Stocked with snacks. Ni lounge area. Will be back, highly recommend.

This hotel is very well thought out; clean, efficient, fully stocked and comfortable. We stayed in the Rosewood Suite. It’s convenient to DT Louisville in the very trendy Highlands neighborhood. When I am in Louisville, I will always stay here! Thank you management and staff.

Love love love the Bellwether! Everything about this hotel is perfect. The attention to detail, the incredibly comfortable beds, the location, the BEAUTIFUL rooms and the really really cool lobby is out of this world. It’s also so clean and quiet. Booking is so easy and communication with the host was seamless. There’s truly nothing like the Bellwether!

I love this place. Love. I’m the heart of the Highlands, The Bellwether taps into an urban energy with a classic timeless finish. Feels like being somewhere else. The rooms are immaculate, I highly recommend staying here or using it to host your out of town guests if you live in the neighborhood.

When you step into this hotel, you are truly stepping into another era. The lounge was meticulously designed from the furniture to the music, even the Aromatech scent throughout was perfect. I'm dying to know which scent is used because I am now shopping for one for my home and would love to replicate it. The area is phenomenal with restaurants, coffee shops and of course bourbon spots. I appreciate the self-service, online booking/entry as it was quick and easy. We did have a little snafu when we had cancelled our 2nd night reservation but had never gotten any communication that it had been cancelled. The morning of our departure while at breakfast, I texted to confirm they knew we were leaving that day and immediately got a reply that it had been cancelled. However in doing so, our entry codes were deactivated and we (along with our stuff) were locked out. Several calls and texts and some time later, we were told the codes change at 11am (it was 10am). Finally we got a new code to enter but it did not work for our room. More texts to convey this a couple times but thankfully a member of the housekeeping team was able to get us in right at the time we got a text that they had digitally unlocked it for us. Thankfully not too much of a delay in our schedule but something that would use some improvement. That said, I have already recommended this hotel to several people - but I hesitate to do so for my parents who might not be tech saavy enough to have navigated this little issue.

We made a last minute reservation after checking hotels in the area. We were very happy with our choice. We were able to park our car and check out the shops, restaurants and bars all within walking distance. The room was very comfortable and clean. Thanks for a Great stay.

Absolutely stunning decor and vibe. There was so much character, it felt like we were in a different era. The hotel was super clean both in common areas and in the room itself. We would definitely come back!

Adorable hotel with great design and attention to detail. Location was perfect for our stay and was close to everything. Nice to not deal with that notoriously long wait at a check-in counter at hotels. Instead, we got a code and I could just head right on in.

Beautiful boutique hotel in the Highland area walkable to many restaurants and shops! Rooms are very spacious with upscale amenities. We enjoyed an amazing dinner at Jack Fry’s and Highland Morning for breakfast. Will return!

Loved this eclectic, interesting hotel. We loved the room with its art deco flair! The bed was wonderful and well stocked towels , wash clothes etc. We especially enjoyed the location. The hotel was a part of the activity on Bardstown Rd and places of interest were easily accessible. Great experience. Will definitely go again ♥️

The Bellwether is stunning! We stayed in the Edgeland Deluxe Suite. The room was spacious and the bed was super comfy, had all the amenities listed. We really enjoyed having the separate bedroom so our baby could sleep while we stayed up to watch TV and play cards without having to tiptoe around. The only downfall of the room was that it was pretty cold in the living room area even with the heat on... but it is an old building with large windows and high ceilings. The bedroom portion stayed warm! We heard a knocking noise all night that we guess was from the hotel heating system or pipes? I sent an email to ask about but they did not respond. The hotel was super quiet, we actually didn't even see anyone else the entire stay. I personally enjoyed the self-service aspect. We will 100% return to the Bellwether to enjoy one of the other rooms in the future. If you're thinking about it, just do it! Restaurants and cute shops within walking distance an added bonus.

I love the Bellwether. It was very convenient for my purposes. I enjoy older buildings and found the hotel was beautifully appointed. I had the Edenside Suite - a small studio room that I would happily choose again - it had everything I needed. The access instructions worked perfectly, and the hotel kept in frequent enough contact with me that any questions I had were quickly addressed. I love it there and will stay there when I return to Louisville, if I need a room and they have an opening.

I needed a last minute room and have seen advertisements for this hotel so I decided to try! I enjoyed my last minute stay very much. The suite was beautiful, clean, and well kept. I felt safe staying alone near downtown with several security access points to get to your room that require a code. The owners were very communicative and helpful. Highly recommend you visit this beautiful boutique hotel!

  • 5/5 Meg D. 10 months ago on Google
Great hotel with impeccably decorated rooms. Aesthetic is on point! Although they are contact-less and no one is onsite to assist, they were very communicative via text. Location is great, outside of downtown but walkable and lots of stuff around the hotel. The only demerit (and this is only note for people with mobility issues) is that the bathroom/shower is not ideal if you have trouble stepping into a high tub and the open concept makes the floor slippery. Otherwise, the stay was perfect!

We stayed in "The Golden Hour Suite". This was a Great, Different, Quirky, stay. It is right in the middle of everything. You can walk to bars, restaurants, shows, and shops. Their was an ice machine and cups on the 2nd floor that was awesome! The coffee and cookies were wonderful. This room has the Best views with windows on 2 walls. Amazingly redone building.

  • 5/5 Jen V. 1 year ago on Google
Another wonderful stay at the Bellwether! A unique and pleasant experience in a location that cannot be beat for great food, drinks and shops within walking distance. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and we appreciated the small details too: cookies, the BEST coffee, ease of check-in/check-out, and the extras offered in the beautiful and distinctive lounge. This was our second stay within two months and we will definitely be back again!

The Bellwether is fantastic! Hands down our new home away from home in Louisville. We stayed in the Highland Station 4 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. Everything we needed was there, from an extra phone charger to a turn table with a great record selection. Mega comfy beds. Super clean bathrooms with top shelf linens, towels, robes, etc. Nicer than we deserve! Will stay again.

This hotel is perfectly placed. The quirks of the neighborhood are captured in the decor of the Bellwether and give a G rated version feeling of The Overlook Hotel from the Shining. It's at the corner of a residential area and parking is not easy. The auto lock pad on my room stopped working but the support team got me back in quickly. Great use of this historical building.

  • 5/5 Becky F. 1 year ago on Google
I'll give 5 stars because of the fantastic hotel it is, and so perfect being on Bardstown Road in walking distance to so many things. The only issues we had are that the Parking is limited to the street, unless you park overnight in the nearby parking lots. That, and the coffee maker was difficult. It was probably pricey, and it is nice, but it takes so long to brew just 1 cup at a time, and it makes a mess. The coffee supplies however were great, and it was so nice to have access to everything we needed. Overall, we all loved it!! I'd go back any day.

The Bellwether bears a charmingly blended vibe of an elegant, industrial, and historical setting. Our room (Olmstead 101) at the Bellwether was made more enjoyable due to the many thoughtful amenities which included a wine opener, black make up towels, and extra heaters for comfort. Beautiful lighting and an excellent mattress were appreciated as well as the cleanliness of our room. There was easy parking available on the street in front and the self check-in was effortless. I would like to suggest that a shelf installed near the bathroom sink on which to place guest toiletries would be helpful, and that a small desk would be useful in the sitting area of the room. One of the best advantages of our Bellwether stay was the convenient location to Bardstown Road, which is within walking distance to many local shops, nice restaurants, and bars. Carmichael Bookstore (a must see!) is across the street as well as a small liquor store that’s open late. A walk to Highland Morning, only .3 of a mile from the Bellwether, brings a delicious breakfast. We would definitely stay here in the future and would recommend.

This place was great. Amenities were top notch! Atmosphere invited you in from the minute you opened the doors and history of this place just makes that much more interesting. The suite was perfect for our large party. This place will definitely be my choice of accommodations when I come back to this area! Don’t miss the gem of a hotel!

Wow! This place was absolutely fabulous! A very stylish, comfortable, and functional Hotel. We live here in Louisville but wanted to stay in this beautiful building because we’ve heard so much about it… well it didn’t disappoint! Located conveniently within walking distance to lots of great restaurants. There was ample parking on the street beside the Bellwether. If you’re visiting Louisville and want to stay in a truly fabulous place don’t miss this gem.

  • 5/5 Melissa R. 1 year ago on Google
Wow - impressed! We stayed in the Bellwether for a nearby wedding and were really pleased with the design, location, ease of self- "check-in," and the little extras (bathrobes, real coffee, cookies, and quality toiletries to name a few). We were traveling with our <1yr old, so sleeping in the same room was a bit of a challenge -- next time we would reserve one of the deluxe suites that has a separate bed and living space.

I recently stayed at the Bellwether and really enjoyed my time. I had never been to Louisville but the location was convenient. It was recommended by a friend. I had a little trouble with one of the codes, my mistake, and the person I contacted about getting into my room was quick to respond and really helpful. I’ve stayed at a lot of airbnbs and a lot of luxury hotels and this feels like a really good combination of the two. It’s definitely the kind of place for some instagram pics, really cute and great colors. Unfortunately I lost my phone at the airport. Would be great for a girls weekend, I hope to be back sometime with friends.

The Bellweather Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. Right on the strip of Bardstown Road, there is so much to do and eat just within walking distance. Even though it is an invisible hotel, the staff we kept in contact with were more than accommodating and understanding. Will be back again soon!
