Manuel Maria Hedois Barbosa du Bocage, was born in Setúbal on September 15, 1765, and a statue was dedicated to him, created by Silva Carvalho, in 1929, and another in the Nicola café, in Praça de D.Pedro IV. A temperamental and exceptionally inspired poet who worked on the sonnet in a unique way, despite his style, which was sometimes very sarcastic, and created some enmity for him. He joined the Navy in 1783 and traveled to India and Macau.

Cozy square, perhaps a bit too big to make it really attractive. Beautifully laid floor and nice and clean.

The most beautiful square in Setúbal surrounded by small bars and cafes, an ideal place to meet friends, have aperitifs and enjoy the beauty of the square.

Interesting square, with cafes, clean and organized area. Good for a short stop and a pastel de nata with coffee.
