We had a very nice time here. We stayed in the "new" rooms with a lovely terrace facing a garden. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. We ate at the restaurant and enjoyed it also. Breakfast was good. Overall, I found it good value for money. The staff are exceptionally friendly.

The best hotel experience I've had so far. Period. Funny story: had no idea this place even existed. Ended up here by total accident after our rental Tesla ran low on battery and the navigation brought us there as the closest spot with a dedicated charger. The plan was never to stay the night, but simply juice the car up a bit and move on. But from the first orange/mandarin grove at the parking lot, on to the winding halls to the reception, I had realized that this was no ordinary hotel. After making my way through the maze of the convent halls and rooms (while slightly bewitched by its interiors) to the reception, I was greeted by a lovely and smiling girl (Adriana was her name, if my memory serves me right), who told me that I can go ahead and charge my car free of charge, even though we were not staying there. She then graciously offered to show me around the place, including the chapel, which made my jaw drop even further. After little deliberation, we decided to stay the night which was the only right decision - we were there just in time to enjoy the amazing spa (which we had all to ourselves), and the affordable price included a welcome drink and an amazing breakfast. But what really stood out for us in this place is the meticulous attention to detail; Everything was thought out and tastefully designed to the smallest details: the bar stools, the furniture, the room numbers and the list goes on and on. I'm quite a picky person, and try as may, I was not able to find a single thing I would have done differently in that place. We also wanted to call out the amazing bartender who served us with our welcome drinks, which turned into a 30 minutes excursion in Portuguese history and was just a pleasant encounter all around (unfortunately, I have forgotten his name since). All the staff were super courteous and nice, but the two employees I mentioned truly had made our stay an unforgettable one. I will go out on a limb and say that this place is prettier and more worthy of a visit than even the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon, because you have the whole place to yourself and can wander its hallways and amazing chapel and soak up the atmosphere to your heart's content. We cannot recommend this place enough. Furthermore, we will surely come back if and when we ever make it to this neck of the woods again. This is the ultimate romantic getaway in Portugal, imho.

Absolutely the best hotel on our tour. Spacious room, modern and easy to use bathroom. I wish we had more than one night here. Restaurant served us a wonderful dinner. Extensive breakfast selection. Everything was beautifully decorated. The private Chapel was amazing to see. Lovely grounds. The only issue was the significant distance between the room and all common areas...

Amazing place to fully relax in a really quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Quite unusual to stay in a convent with a real church in the edifice. The nice decoration left the historical feel untouched which gives the hotel a unique touch and feeling. Staff was also very friendly, wine tasting in the cellar was welcome given the heat wave and the tour of the hotel was also quite insightful.

What a stunning hotel in an amazing location. As you approach from Évora, Convento grows out of the horizon in your field of vision, towering over the landscape that it sits in so comfortably. We went in June where the ambient temperature was 40°C, and somehow the hotel managed the heat perfectly. Aircon in every room and a pool as peaceful as the scenery deserves. Staff are exceptional, curtious, outgoing, skilled and lovely people, every single person that we interacted with. Drinks were expertly made, wines were paired, cocktails carefully crafted. Food at every meal was a delight, breakfast is well worth going for with a sophisticated take on buffet drawing on local cuisine and culture. The grounds are phenomenal and our visit was truly exceptional.

A stunning hotel just outside the beautiful city of Evora. Would highly recommend this hotel. Staff are excellent, as are the facilities. Make sure you do the free wine tasting in the cellar and do the guided your, some amazing history at this concerted convent.

Slightly away from Evora center, this beautiful historic property has an amazing landscape including a wide garden & swimming pool. English was a little weak but the staff kept smiling and were very helpful

This is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Wow it is so beautiful! Our room had a balcony that let us catch sunset over the gardens! There’s so much to explore since it used to be a monastery. We spent one night just walking around a few hours: the gardens, the cloisters, the library with royal dog portraits, the church, catching live music from the window above their wine bar, the bunnies jumping through the pool area, I could go on and on. A great breakfast of course in their restaurant with champagne and all the options you can think of. Very nice staff for whatever you need. It’s not walking distance to anything but it’s a short drive to Evora.

Wonderful hotel if you're looking for a quiet time away from the urban life. The workers are amazing, the swimming pool is incredible. Great place for bird watching if you're into that

A wonderful destination hotel with a lot of history. Beautifully preserved historical religious location turned into a luxury hotel and spa. The materials used in the restauration of these old stones to their original beauty are respectful and in line with the original architecture. A splendid church with marble floors is on location. Several restaurants on site allow for all budget dining, making this location attractive to families. The large pools are also a factor when travelling with kids to a hot location.

The architecture is truly beautiful. The reception was welcoming and the staff were very accommodating to assist with luggage transfer. Our room was spacious, with an especially nice restroom, though the tub did not hold water. The Italian restaurant was good, yet service was not especially friendly. The breakfast buffet was a beautiful setup with numerous options. The architecture in this space is spectacular. I wish the hot foods had been kept hot. Many great choices were available with good service. The one thing I was not prepared for was the musty smell of the hotel. The rooms are rather dated yet everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hot tub and pool were clean and relaxing.

Convento do Espinheiro is a historic haven in Évora, a classic retreat adorned with incredible details that transport you into a fairy tale. The rooms are a blend of luxury and charm, creating a magical living experience. The incredible food, serene environment, and a stunning Orange trees garden make it an exceptional choice as a wedding venue. Having had the pleasure to capture a wedding ceremony here, I can attest to the timeless beauty and tranquility that Convento do Espinheiro brings to every celebration.

Fantastic experience in Evora!! This place has so much history! It's a truly unique experience. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is amazing! The rooms are a bit old but I guess this is expected in these types of hotels.

Beautiful hotel outside the city of Evora. Excellent food. Lovely grounds. It was a monastery updated that also kept many original architectural details.

Stepping into this hotel is like stepping back in history. The arches in the dining room alone are worthy of a stay. The bartender takes such pride in his work - cocktails are garnished with blossoms and served in beautiful glassware. The public spaces are ethereal. The rooms are small but cozy (I loved the grooming amenities) There is a spa - it is adequate and probably the weakest link of the lodging. Our meals were delicious - the black pork was intensely flavorful and their interpretation of cheesecake is not to be missed. Service was tops - we felt warmly welcomed. Check-in by 5pm so you can get a tour of this fantastic historical gem.

I was here for a wedding. I can not evaluate this hotel by its quality of rooms and service but I can say its a beautiful, romantic, very good quality place for a ceremony such as wedding. There is in the a 200 years old church as a part of hotel which is so beautiful . I would like to go back and stay there to know about the quality of service and rooms. .

Beautiful property that is a few kilometers outside of town. Our issue was with the staff. By far they were the least pleasant of all of the places we stayed in Portugal. Two events were especially memorable. At check in, we were told breakfast would be busy and we should make a reservation. We asked for 8:00 am and were told only 9:30 am was available but that we could have our free breakfast delivered to our room for 14 euro (7 euro each). Really! They wanted to charge us more because they were busy. Second, we asked that a taxi be called for 7:15 pm so we could make a 7:30 dinner reservation. They wrote it down. We arrive at the front desk at 7:10 and they looked perplexed. They called the taxi and it arrived at 7:30.

The service was incredibly, I had the massage and salt scrub and the skin feels absolutely amazing. The building is beautiful peace of history, whoever the SPA facility leaves something lacking. They’re no spa facilities just the treatment rooms. For the price I would expect a spa atmosphere for the entire experience.
