Delicious unassuming food at an amazing price. Came here twice and had the chicken soup - haven’t had soup so good in a while - the schnitzel pork sandwich, the bifana (with and without cheese). The place is always busy because of its location, prices and delicious food. Would definitely recommend.

I've been here twice for breakfast and teatime. Both times, I ordered the bifana sandwich with cheese. It's basically slices of grilled pork with cheese slices served with bread. It looks very simple but so very delicious. The bread is soft and fluffy and every bite is full of flavour. Service is a bit gruff but they make sure you get what you ordered.

Really good local food. Fast and friendly service. They have the traditional Portuguese pork sandwich. Great for a quick bite and or take a little rest.

This place was awesome. $5 Euros for 2 cappuccino, a croissant, and a bottle of water. We will be back in here a few more times while visiting Lisbon.

Wow. The Bifana w cheese and the prego w cheese are amazing. If you want the authentic Portuguese sandwitch you MUST come here. One if each and a beer only 8 euro! Nice park right outside if they are busy. Grab it to go and enjoy the weather! You will be missing out if you don't eat here while in Lisbon! The pictures don't do the food justice. Seasoning is great. Add a dash of mustard for spice. Wish I had time to come back.

We tried the Bifana with cheese and a soup. Taste is amazing but this place is super crowded so be prepared there will be a little pushing. Very Reasonable price and I think it’s is amazing for a meal. Highly recommend but I would suggest to go take out and sit outside the plaza to enjoy it.

O Trevo is very popular for the Bifanas, which is a popular Portuguese ham and cheese sandwich. It’s quite cheap and it is a nice quick meal. They only accept cash, so make sure you bring some with you when you order. Their orange juice is nice and fresh too. I can’t comment on the service, it was fully packed and had a long line while we were there.

skip the line to wait (it’s for if you want a table), and go to the counter! you are served fast. the food was delicious. we ordered one, but there was a miscommunication and we got two- which was fine with us because it was delicious! definitely recommend you check this out on your travels. it is affordable for many items on the menu.

Unique Bifana sandwiches cooked to order. The juicy stock that is slathered onto the bread gives that extra umami experience. We did a take-out since the place was very crowded.

I tried the bifana com quiejo for the first time: soft bread, salty pork meat but delicious combination with cheese and a very tasty mustard. I really liked it.

As expected - Neighborhood spot with a no frills attitude. We ordered sliced pork sandwiches, beer, soda and coffee. Amazing. I was surprised to have a server. Gave him a tip and he was thrilled. Most folks eat and drink at the counter bar. It’s totally a vibe that Bourdain loved in his shows. Simple, hearty and people friendly. Priced right for sure.

You just have to love this place for a quick and very inexpensive lunch, early dinner, or even breakfast. The waiters are nice and quick, the simple food is all cooked to order (my cheeseburger today was cooked medium rare and absolutely delicious, at €2.60) and the coffee is good. Lively and busy, it is a fun place to be.

The soup and croquettes were good. It seemed like sandwiches were quite popular here so we tried some. Good to experience once but I wouldn't have them again. The staff was really nice and spoke English. It's a quick in and out type of place.

Simple good food and good fun. You don’t come to a place like this for fine dining. You come to hang out with the locals, and eat what they eat. Bifana, Prego and soup of the day for cheap. And €1.5 for a glass of Ginjinha. Nothing to complain about. Super friendly English speaking staff. Had loads of food and drinks for two for only €25. Bring cash. No CC accepted.

We stumbled upon this gem of an eatery without even first knowing that it was actually a super famous place! We each had a bifana with cheese which was a simple stewed pork inside a fluffy bun but somehow it was like a taste of paradise! We reordered a second round and enjoyed the bifana with the local cherry liqueur ginjinha… an absolute delight!

Love this spot in the Chaido area of Lisbon. On the corner and you can have some great food and drink for a very good price. Always busy and popular with the locals. Watch the people and the teams go by and have fun.

We visited this place specifically for their renowned Pork Bifana, a recommendation that every food tour video talked about and we can wholeheartedly agree – this place indeed serves the best pork bifana. You can watch them make it right before you – fresh, savory and salty pork nestled in fresh bread. The popularity of this spot is evident, with a constant stream of people. What's remarkable is that this delectable dish comes at an incredibly affordable price, making it perfect for a quick grab-and-go meal. You can sit at the tables or stand and enjoy your food as well. To enhance our experience, we followed the tradition of having it with their famous peri peri oil and mustard sauce. As avid fans of spice, we liberally drizzled half the spicy oil over our bifana, and the result was just exceptional. I've observed some people skip the peri peri oil, and honestly, they are missing out on a burst of deliciousness. We can have this everyday literally. The service was quick, prompt, and the people were friendly. Its situated in a great location, and is definitely an experience you wouldn't want to miss. :)

We came here for lunch and ordered 3 Bifana sandwiches, one with cheese. They actually gave us 2 sandwiches with cheese instead. It's our first time trying the Bifana. It tasted good but interesting. They also sell a lot of different types of desserts. It was really packed even with the outdoor seating since it's not a huge place, so we sat across the street at the Luís de Camões Plaza which was nice.

Food was really delicious, the espresso was good and the prices were very reasonable. It was a busy afternoon when we went but they found us a table and tried to help us with ordering despite not speaking much English. When the waiter realised we were sharing our dishes, he brought out extra plates for us! Not only popular for tourists because Anthony Bourdain recommended it, but you can tell it is a favourite of the locals!

Perfect prego rolls, cold drinks, good pastel de nata ... not a fault. Very inexpensive food served in a place that does what it does very well.

This place is frequented by locals for good reason. Cheap prices and yummy food. Classics like bacalao croquettes, local beers/wines, and other snack foods. I can see why Anthony Bourdain came here for their bifanas sandwiches and some beer! Although I would recommend trying the bifanas at Bifanas of Afonso.

I love these little cafe / eateries - cervejarias. Really bang for the buck €10 gets you a lot of good food here! The bifana (portugese sandwich with a pork cutlet) is a tasty snack best with a glass of beer. The arroz doce (a custardy rice pudding) was really good too!

If Anthony Bourdain recommends something, just go with it! O Trevo was just a fantastic experience. It's a hole in the wall with people coming in, getting a quick sandwich, ginja, etc, eating it standing on the counter and heading out in matter of minutes. It's less of a restaurant than a food joint for the locals. But it's god-damned authentic for sure. People in shorts to people in suits were all mingling together in search of some quick, cheap and good food. The Bifana was super, as was the chicken and fish cutlets, the Ginja drink and the custard in a bowl. The service was extremely friendly, even if a bit rushed as you can expect. The prices were ridiculously low but that's what makes it even more charming. A place that's found fame in the global food lists but doesn't care about that in the least and stays true to what it has always been - a Portuguese local community watering hole catering to all. Must must must visit.

If I lived in Lisbon, this place would be a regular on my list. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. We sampled various dishes on different occasions, and each time was thoroughly enjoyable. Opting to stand by the bar adds an even better experience.

Friendly staff, quick service for take away. I really liked Bifana. It's a good and inexpensive snack between meals. It's like pork döner.

The service here was top notch and the food was delicious. We were a very simple order, two bifana and two beers and both came in less than 2 minutes. We enjoyed it so much we went back and ordered another beer and sandwhich. All and all our bill came out 13 euro and it couldn’t have been more worth it. The atmosphere is hectic but authentic, I would recommend to all visitors.

Great local food at low price, beer for 1€, whole lunch plate for 5€, a little bit unclean but totally humane, very local! Recommended.

Local dive. Stop in for a beef sandwich with mustard and chili oil + local draft beer (if you drink). Despite sounding odd, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Anthony Bourdain’s recommendation… and the guy knows his stuff. Eat standing at the counter like the locals do. Euros/ cash only!

This place was amazing and so well priced. Best bifana sandwiches in Lisbon and delicious chicken noodle soup. Was the first place I came to when I arrived in Lisbon and had to go back again since it was truly delicious. Friendly staff as well!

Definitely must visit if you are hungry and want quick lunch! Small very busy restaurant with great service and very tasty bifana! Ordered soup of the day, bifana with cheese and Sagres... and then had to order one more bifana how tasty it was! Topped it up with coffee after all. Its also very cheap, but they do not accept card, however there is ATM right on street outside the door which charges you over €3 fee for withdrawal so better come prepared

Amazing sandwiches! You can’t go wrong here. Cash only. Definitely get the prego! We also ordered the pork sandwich (bifana) but we enjoyed the prego more. Next time I want to try the chicken soup!

Just a delicious sandwich. Simple ingredients, but so tasty. Prices are unbeatable. I will dream of this bifana sandwich until I return! My husband is a vegetarian and had the egg sandwich which he really enjoyed. A must try!

  • 5/5 Dan A. 1 year ago on Google
Literally the best sandwich I have ever eaten. It's just pork (or beef) and a beautiful soft roll that you can put mustard or spicy oil on but it's perfect. Beyond perfect as it's only €2.5. I'm in love 😘 Thank you! Obrigado!!

  • 5/5 Ahson J. 1 year ago on Google
Just a simple bite, packed with flavor and history. Truly a landmark and must try. MUST try!!! I got the bifana for 2.5 euros. And then got another one afterward, piping hot and just perfect! Ate by the counter and left with a smile on my face! If I could, I would stop by every single day!

  • 5/5 Laurent G. 1 year ago on Google
Pretty good and cheap place to get a bifana. Easy and fast to get a snack or a fast meal. You can easily go there but remember to get cash at the corner beforehand.

Great and very popular restaurant/bar where the locals go. Very affordable and well worth the experience to know and love the local culture. It was a bit cold outside so I had fresh orange juice to help my throat and chicken soup! The soup was excellent with nice chunks of white meat. It really hit the spot. Then I ordered rice with duck as my entrée. I saw this served to locals as I was waiting in line and it looked good and authentic. I was not disappointed. Except it was too much food and couldn't finish it. I still ordered flan for dessert... less than 10 euros! Great place, great food!

The bifana and veg soup was really good delicious perfect for breakfast.keep in mind this place gets really busy most of the time and has limited seating, don't be surprised if you have to eat while standing.Dont forget to put some mustard ( not the same as American mustard) on the bifana

  • 5/5 Teodora D. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely amazing bifana! This is perfect no fuss food. We came around 11:30-12:00 and managed to get a table outside. Stayed for a bit and by the end we noticed the place got packed. And with good reason. The prices are also really good
