This place is closed. There was work being done to the place yesterday that might of been the makings of a new bar but as of now this place is no more. NOTE: travelers, take all reviews for China with a grain of skepticism if the establishment will be still in business. We tried many only to find out that they are now closed. Google maps for locations especially hotels are not where they are so be prepared to walk farther and go on an adventure. Best of luck and hope you enjoy Black Jack Bar as much as we did.

Jackie is an excellent host and has a lot going on in here for such a small venue. His hospitality and knowledge on craft beers are both beyond expectation. No doubt a for sure stop every time Iā€™m here.

Awesome beer bar that has a cozy, relaxed feel. When I went, there were plenty of beer choices from New Zealand, Belgium, and China. I had been to many places in search of true craft beer made in China, with no success until I went to Jackie's Beer Nest. They had Belgian-Style Trippels, Imperial Stouts, Sours, and IPAs. I was so happy I found this place.

Tiny pub with the most amazing selection of beers. There are more beers on tap here than people can fit in the bar! Jackie is a true connoisseur and makes fab recommendations. Went out of his way to get a taxi for us to return to the hotel.

Top guy and a top spot. We were in Shanghai for the Formula 1. Googled craft beer places near our hotel. Which is how we stumbled on Jackie's Beer Nest. We figured it would be a good place to go try some craft Chinese beers. We walked in to find almost a full selection of beers from EPIC brewery in New Zealand :) Being from NZ we found it quite funny. Found along with a great assortment of NZ beers (even some NZ beer made specifically for the Chinese market) Jackie also stocked some of his own beers and others made by some of his friends. Jackie is an amazingly friendly guy, its a unique place to go drink beer with the locals and meet some honestly lovely people. On our first night Jackie organised a local guy to take us to a nearby dumpling place to try some local cuisine which was delicious. Friendly people and great beer, what more could you ask for.

Very small nice place with a personal touch. Owner brews his own beer together with Epic from New Zealand. Bar that sells beer in shots, what is very good, when you want to try different types of craft beer, especially when beer is 11 or 14 strong.

I love this place, go there every time we're in Shanghai. Its on a night market street so you can have your dinner before or after visiting and thats a huge plus! They have plenty of beer, all of it unique and tasty. Some from New Zealand, some from other places, some made by the owner. The owners are great, gave wifey and I some nice stickers and coasters that I'm very excited to have since I like to collect these things. They have a bathroom, yeah! Mostly Chinese patrons from the neighborhood so thats always fun to meet new people even if you can't speak Chinese or vice-versa. Indoor seating is tight (1 picnic table and a few bar stools) and there are a few tiny tables outside. Beers are 60cny no matter what the brew. I had two nice ipas and a earl grey dark ipa which was also nice. Great place, we'll be back!

There are more beer taps than seats and the lighted sign is done in sharpie. This place is an amazing bar in an amazing city. They don't take foreign credit cards. Sign says cash only, but I think they'll take WeChat payments.
